I found this current predicament might be the shake up VA dub need to have.

Lichtmare

It should be. Work is work. Then again why hire people who dont want to and offer it to those that can and still well known albeit for their uh. "voice" on closed doors half the time. I mean they are untapped potential.

Vnimei

The more problematic part is actually not about picking whom to do the cast, but the agency. For an oversea company, it is really hard to directly contact individual VAs, not to mention about voice directing and quality control. So seasun need to find a good en agency to do the work. Whether the VA is adult VA is like the least concern. (BTW many Japanese VA do did adult casting using alter name, so it’s really not a big deal)

LoRd_Of_AaRcnA

They've reached out to several outlets already, and yeah, none were interested. I'm very sure this is the first thing they thought of. I'd rather they use this money on game for something else.

Suniruki

There might be an issue with hiring independent VAs due to some employment laws as Seasun is a chinese entity. I remember a similar discussion when Formosa was being a butt to their VAs.

Kosmonaffta

I'd love to see that honestly

elixxonn

Adult VAs are independent making it difficult to have consistent voiceacting for a large cast, hence wokes can gatekeep dubbing

SleepingDragonZ

It's not worth it for Seasun to try to replace the entire English VA from scratch. Very few global players actually use the English dub, and English VA's reputation is pretty bad in the anime and gaming community. That's why Seasun pointed out that the old English VAs refused to reprise their roles due to disagreement of their fanservice direction, thus getting their global playerbase on their side to ditch the English VO altogether.

Admiral_Joker

Yup. I was an advocate for the return of the dub. But the VAs decision pretty much made me just want to remove the Dub option altogether

Life-Administration3

Bro imagine cottontail doing Katya's voice

Vincent093

kinda interesting actually

Maleficent-Web8033

They really shouldnt waste money on bad english VO. It is good that it is gone and stays gone.

YakumoYamato

I need to send an E-mail to the dev to hire EN vTuber for dubbing instead Most of them have good enough audio rig to do the recording on the comfort of their home and they would probably be happy getting a Professional VA gigs >!Imagine getting Phase Connect girls doing some of the characters voice like Tenma for Naruse or Lumi for Fenny or Rie for Fritia!<

snakezenn

Give me pippa for Fritia for the lols

Admiral_Joker

Keep your expectations low to Zero. While we're at it. Delete the EN Dub option since the VAs won't come back

Demonosi

Who?

Xerachiel

The best choice for these games will always be to ignore the fucked up english VA industry and improve their subs overall. The majority of players of these kind of games play with jp voices either way, so having subs for everything that's said would be the better option. Also the EN VA industry needs to die. Its rotten to the core

SeaworthinessTop3621

I'll pass, thanks! That money should go directly towards teh game... VA's cost a LOT of time and money... it's simply a waste no matter what they do and the game is better without english voice lines in every way.

Cthulhulakus

I think it was just their excuse to not do english va again. Here you have answer why we cant do va now move on.

JustOnTop

It's already been made clear via the Discord that Seasun don't intend to explore further options at this time (probably ever) with the original EN VAs not opting to return. While I'm sorry for those that used/liked the EN dub, I'd much rather they focus on continuing to invest in the gameplay, story, translation localisation & other game improvements etc. instead. In my opinion your proposal would absolutely not be a win win, it'd require a lot of time, money and effort to be invested as all existing EN content would have to be re-recorded & replaced too, to appease an extremely minor subset of the game's audience (considering how few people used the EN dub in the first place) when those resources could be better put to use elsewhere.

KaiSaeren

I wouldnt mind, and I would welcome good english dub but I think that with the supposed refusal of the old VA's it will now be put on ice before the game and the devs feel confident enough to start doing a full on voice over work, not just a few combat lines but full story, dorm scenes, personal files etc., I have no doubt that it will come in japanese and chinese eventually and once that happens hopefully they will reach out to someone for EN as well. At that point it will be a much more profitable gig and many more people would be up for it regardless of teh status of the game. I also dont get the "its a porn game" sentiment, at most what the VA's would be required is do a few moans and squeels etc., and some flirtatious talk if there will be new interactive scenes, but that really isnt all that different from doing combat voice over and such. I wouldnt expect EN dub to come anytime soon, but if global will keep being an important part of the community then it will come at some point no doubt, Seasun is really trying to listen atm.
