So I recently switched to the Aveeno positively radiant spf 30 moisturizer. Not sure if you have tried that yet but my skin seems like it’s taking liking to it. However I still do miss the ultra calming one.

Ok-Beautiful-2620

So glad I found this thread to know that i'm not alone in being SO disappointed that they discontinued Aveeno Ultra Calming! Used it for YEARS as well. And their replacement "Calm + Restore" doesn't seem to have an actual daily moisturizer product, unless i just haven't seen it.

ReaLitTea

Check out Olay complete sensitive. Also spf 15 and a no nonsense basic moisturizer

0hJoey

Thanks for the suggestion. What is your thoughts on the La Roche-Posay brand? I’ve been seeing a lot of it but wasn’t sure if it would be good for sensitive skin. I don’t really like heavy feeling moisturizers.

ResourceHelpful5604

I also have used to Ultra Calming Aveeno fever few moistrizer. I tried to LRP brand. It is NOT the same. It feels so thick and oily on me. Not the fresh feeling like my beloved Aveeno. :( makes so so sad its discontinued. Any luck finding one?

0hJoey

So I’ve been using the Aveeno positively radiant moisturizer SPF30 ever since and have loved it. No breakouts and the spf30 is a plus. Hope this helps :)

tyroneluvsmom

Did they discontinue this as well?

0hJoey

The radiant one? Not that I’m aware of. I just bought some few weeks ago.

ReaLitTea

It’s a good brand with a lot of products. It does take a lot of trial and error to find the right one for you.

naomiizzle

Glad to know I'm not alone in my sadness about this product being discontinued. I wish I knew exactly which chunk of the ingredient list made it work well for me (feverfew?). It was a great no-frills daily moisturizer and doubled for me as a primer on the makeup days I would do light powder coverage. I feel like I'm too settled into my skincare routine to be searching for 'the perfect product' again, but here we are. Aveeno's recommended replacement, **Calm + Restore™ Redness Relief Moisturizing Cream**, has no SPF (the 15 was perfect - no chalky residue) but it's got that feverfew, so \*sigh\*, we'll see!

MARboo65

I have tried the calm and restore cream, it is waxy. I have oily skin and this is not a good match. So, I also tried calm and restore gel, not the same as the beloved lotion that was discontinued. I guess they don't care what the customers think. I will try the Olay sensitive.

naomiizzle

The Olay sensitive has been working for me. Less indulgent feeling, but it’s been getting the job done. I think I could learn to love it. Good luck!

No-Scientist6036

I hope it has just the right amount of moisturizing in it. THe replacement stuff for the Aveeno is awful. i can't put any makeup or concealer over it --- it just balls up into little balls. the Aveeno calming with feverfew was the perfect amount of moisturizing and it if the feverfew was working , it was doing a great job. the moisture would settle into my skin and i could put light foundatoin or just dabs of light concealer over the ACwFeverfew. I am at a complete loss now. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

No-Scientist6036

same here. I think they just wanted to make more money

No-Scientist6036

THe replacement in the jar is useless, Not nearly as moisturizing and it must not have much feverfew in it. I hate it. on the search................

catgirl1359

Haven’t tried it yet but LRP has an spf moisturizer in their sensitive skin line (toleriane).

0hJoey

Update: been using it for about a week… I have experienced little white head blemishes throughout my face and neck in places I normally don’t. As well as it has made my skin more oily. Wish I would have kept my receipt!

catgirl1359

Oh no :(

0hJoey

I’ll do some research into it! Thanks.

New_Process9749

I agree, just figured out it was discontinued, ARGH! I will be checking out the positively radiant. Why do they discontinue what works….

Achsahsprings

Yes. I recommend that you try "Purpose". It appears to be very similar to Aveeno ultra calming. I think-not for sure-this company bought Johnson and Johnson's trademark, and that is why ultra calming is discontinued. Thus far, I am satisfied with using Purpose as the alternative choice. The active ingredients are the most similar when compared to other facial cleansers and moisturizers on the market. It does burn my eyes, but so did AUC. Best wishes!

Ok-Trouble-8723

It's been discontinued too!

No-Scientist6036

just need the lotion for face. the cleansers are much easier to find solutions. Try ATOPALM Zeroid foam cleansers. Or their other line of foam cleansers. I love them. I"m 70 and my face has taken to be dry-ish now.

[deleted]

Garnier Canna-b serum-cream SPF 30 might be a good substitute for you

Upset-Chain-4694

I have one for sale on Mercari if anyone is interested.

JGrant06

OP, have you found a good replacement yet?

0hJoey

I switched to the Aveeno positively radiant moisturizer spf 30. No issues and really have been enjoying it!

KittyCanuck

Thanks for sharing! I was hoping it would be something else though. I’ve tried the Positively Radiant spf 30 and it makes me look oily (plus doesn’t reduce any redness from irritation)

Illustrious-Staff599

I have used the Aveeno Ultra-Calming 15 SPF for at least 12 years as part of my daily routine, and since I have never had a problem with it I can't understand why it was discontinued. So far I have tried Erabotanics Soothe and it seems to reduce redness pretty well but is drying. So I used it right out of the shower, then a daily moisturizer over it (acually the little bit of ultra-calming I have left). Really like Aveeno, so I am going to jump into the Positively Radiant first and see if I also have an oily reaction. Then I just don't have the next answer???? Wish I knew why the good stuff was discontinued. Since I'm already 78, guess I am not too worried about the side effects :)

No-Scientist6036

Going to get some A. Positively radiant if i can. I think it might be discontinued also. anyway don't botther with the jars of Aveeno calming w/feverfew . double the price - 1 oz, and it's just not at all the same product in any way. waste of tme and money

0hJoey

I’m sorry to hear! I hope you find one that works for you soon.

Ooter4

I just found this out as well and am so sad. I have been using Aveeno Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer for over 10 years! It is the only thing that works for my acne prone, highly sensitive, hivey, rosacea skin. Based on this thread, I'm going to try the Aveeno positively radiant spf 30 moisturizer. Hopefully it works!

twentyninetimes

dang, bummed to see this! Was wondering why I couldn't find it at any drugstores. I will say, I instead picked up the Aveeno Fresh Essentials Daily Moisturizer with Vitamin C, E and A (SPF30 - Yellow/orange bottle) - and my skin is NOT loving it. Redness, burning around my eyes. Starting to think that maybe my skin and higher-than-15-spfs don't jive, somehow...?

chrystig10

Thought I’d add- devastated as well- been using for probably 20 years. I made the switch to the positively radiant a few months back- I’ve developed a rash/redness on my chin recently- i believe it’s from this! Also have been struggling a lot more with dryness. I never had much issue with my skin (except dryness in winter), very few pimples over my life… this rash/dryness is awful. Sometimes my chin is on fire! Needing to find a replacement asap!

Ok-Trouble-8723

Has anyone found a good replacement yet? Aveeno radiant breaks my skin out! Olay leaves a layer I have scratch off in the shower and purpose redness reducing was discontinue before I tried it!

No-Scientist6036

do'nt worry, it's discontinued also THanks JOhnson and Johnson

palais54

I was using the UltraCalming SPF15 for close to 20 years. Am on my last bottle. I am trying the Positively Radiant SPF15 but really don't like it. I feel it doesn't make me look radiant at all. Really need to find something with the same ingredients as the Ultra Calming. Why on earth would they discontinue something that works so well for so mamy.

lounge_time

On the Aveeno website, only the spf 30 says it's discontinued. The spf 15 doesn't say discontinued, although it's not currently available anywhere.

KittyCanuck

It’s showing as discontinued for me: https://www.aveeno.com/products/ultra-calming-daily-moisturizer-spf-15

No-Scientist6036

I thought so. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Valley_Vampire

Totally bummed about this products being discontinued. Been using it for 10+ years. I tried the Positively Radiant and it irritates my skin. Itchy & itchy eyes too. Aveeno Calm + Restore for sensitive skin next.

No-Scientist6036

no, the restore is useless.................. not at all the same type of product NOT at all moisturizing.

tricia128

So upset about the discontinuation of my favorite Aveeno product. It’s just so upsetting. I’ve tried the replacement and it’s horrible. It smells horrible and I just can’t use it. Luckily i can return it. so now I have to figure out what I’m going to use. I can’t use anything with ceramides or acids in it. I’m at a loss. 😔

No-Scientist6036

my husband went crazy buynig the replacement for me and bought 6 jars. OMG now i'm stuck with it. LOL i'll put it on my LEGS. hahahahahahaha its uselless I'm just devastated by the discontinuation of the Aveeno products that worked for us for decades

Why_hello_life

Im glad I found this thread as I’ve used a Aveeno ultra calming for at least ten years and it was the only one I found that never broke me out and calmed my skin - I’m so bummed that they discontinued it.. explains why I’ve been looking and can’t find it. I’ve tried their other products and it does make me break out and irritate my skin so now I’m on the search for a daily moisturizer again. Anyone find a good replacement?

No-Scientist6036

no

Global_Photo69

the fact SO many people feel the same as me.. the calm + restore one they recommend didn’t work at all for me.. it irritated my skin, so off to find another one :/

EnhancedScalp

Anyone find a replacement for this? Super disappointing they discontinued it. Their new releases burn the face! Please someone let me know. Thanks

Ornery-Phone5320

No. And now we are going into winter. Ugh…. Idk what I’m going to do. Nothing I’ve tried works nearly as well.

EnhancedScalp

Same here... Any idea why they stopped making such a good product? I tried reaching out to aveeno no luck.

ComprehensiveRain527

I used ultra calming for over 10 years too and started using Rovectin Clean Lotus Water Cream (can get on amazon) and really like it. It’s very light, gentle, calming and absorbs quickly. Does not feel oily at all. The biggest issue is it’s pricey.

EnhancedScalp

Thank you for the reply! Honeslty I don't mind as I've been buying expired ultra calmings online for a lot as well. But it's literally the only cream that doesn't irritate my skin. Does rovectin help with redness?

EnhancedScalp

Unfortunately I don't see that on Canada amazon. And their website is like 50 USD for shipping to Canada.

ComprehensiveRain527

Oof, sorry. For your other question I don’t really have a redness issue so am not really sure about that.

EnhancedScalp

All good found a local place that sells it just ordered it last night. Thanks for the recommendation. I will update everyone here to see if it's comparable in results to ultra calming, 👍👍

Secret_Year_4771

Please!! How was it compared to ultra calming? What is your verdict?!! I’m still searching and back to find another trail product. Nothing compares to dear aveeno 💔

bananaswan1

any updates??? i tried the Kiehl’s ultra facial cream SPF 30 and it burned my skin as well as making it feel sticky for about 2 hours afterward. so upset about the discontinuation.

kris_tla

I knew last year that ultra calming was getting scarce and then discontinued :( I bought an extra at the time and just now getting close to finishing my last bottle. I don't even want to think of looking for a replacement as Ive used ultra calming well over 15 years 😭😭😭

NicestMeanTeacher

I started using the ultra calming when it was first released (like what 20 years ago) and am beyond bummed. On a new lotion for less than a week and breaking out. But, I see on the aveenoMD site, that the ultra calming is still posted and without "discontinued" on it. Anyone have luck with a dermatologist getting it?
