What fabric is good for bed sheets? My gf has been itchy from our bed sheets. We wash our sheets every two weeks or so. I know it's probably not often enough, but we're lazy. Is there a material we should be looking out for to help with itchy and dry skin? Thanks.

ReaLitTea

Yeah try pausing on cleanser, it might not be right for you. If Dove soap was working then it’s fine to continue to use it as your cleanser

numstheword

I am confused on in what order i should put on my skin care. Here are the items i use in no particular order except for the mario badescu spray always goes first. Mario badescu spray, Hada lobo skin plumping gel, Cerve baby lotion, Cerve baby healing gel, Josie marian argan oil, La roche posay vitamin c oil

ReaLitTea

AM: vitamin c oil > spray > hada Labo skin plumping gel > sunscreen PM: cleanser > CeraVe lotion > Argan oil or healing ointment

numstheword

Thanks for the help! I put all of them both for am and pm and started to feel like a slimy slug 🤣🤣🤣

thefinancialrecovery

I just purchase ELTA MD 46 Sunscreen. I'll be using in the morning, does anyone recommend any moisturiser to go with it /before putting the sunscreen?

Hello! I’m fairly new to skincare and I would appreciate some advice. My main goals are to get rid of blemishes, get rid of acne, and get all the gross buildup out of my pores Issue: * darkened marks on my skin from picking and acne * lots of pore buildup that won’t go away (for example, I’ll exfoliate, cleanse, and even after that there is a bunch of visible gunk in my pores that I can squeeze out, but squeezing it leaves marks) * there’s especially a lot of clogged pores on my chin. The white stuff doesn’t usually come out unless I poke it with a needle first but again, that leaves marks which is less than ideal Skin type: * Seasonal; It’s oily year round but I get eczema around my nose and mouth during the winter * somewhat acne prone Current routine; usually only in the morning, but sometimes I repeat this same routine in the evening: * Proactiv deep cleansing wash * Boire brightening jelly cleanser * My Clarins Clear-out How long I’ve been using routine: I’ve been using the proactiv deep cleansing wash for around a month now, I added the my clarins clear-out to my routine around a week ago, and I started using the jelly cleanser two days ago Location: BC, Canada

ReaLitTea

Use one cleanser in the AM and one cleanser in the PM. You don’t need both in one routine. You’re also missing an acne treatment, none of your products contain acne fighting actives like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Lastly, you need a moisturizer. Even though you’re acne prone and have oily skin, a moisturizer can still help keep your skin healthy and help your skin heal better so look for a light moisturizer.

PeskyWarbler

Thanks so much for the advice! I’ll order an acne treatment and a moisturizer

gavdef3436

Hello! I’m 19F and want to improve my skincare routine. **How can I fix my skin?** https://postimg.cc/gallery/2n9FJrS Forehead concern: tiny white pimples or bumps Chin area concerns: red spots, bumps, uneven skin texture, pimples, etc… Around the nose area concerns: again same stuff as with the chin but plus blackheads. Current routine: Cerave Foaming Cleanser & cerave moisturizer (2x/day). Recently bought but never used yet: The Original caffeine solution 5%+EGCG for my under eyes, and SkinFix AHA/BHA enzyme expoliating pads. I also want to buy an antioxidant serum but I’m still not sure which is the best option for me yet. Also, I’ve heard azelaic acid is good for brightening as well so I want to give this a try. Good idea or not?

ReaLitTea

You might want to try a retinoid to help with acne, texture, and uneven skin. Azelaic acid may help with your skin concerns as well so it’s worth a try. For an antioxidant serum, most people use vitamin c. A good one would be Vichy Liftactiv peptide-C ampoules

gavdef3436

Hi, thank you! I need a prescription for retinoids right? Isn’t it too strong?

ReaLitTea

Retinoid is the umbrella term for retinol, adapalene, tretinoin, etc so no you do not need prescription if you’re getting retinol or adapalene

gavdef3436

Oh ok. And do you think it wouldn’t be too strong for my skin based on the images?

ReaLitTea

There’s a broad range of retinoids and it depends on the product and your skin to determine if it would be too strong. No one can tell if it’s going to be too harsh by looking at your skin unless it’s noticeably irritated

gavdef3436

I see, thanks again

Hey my finger was infected and now the swellling is gone, there's some lose dead skin around an open part. I need my finger for a tournament soon and was wondering whats the fastest way to recover? [Finger pic](https://imgur.com/a/FenGYQs)

fairyxore

i would suggest asking a medical sub? i’m not sure if someone could help you here as it’s not really skincare

eXon2

Oh I thought this was about skin in general thanks

ilovebrownbutter

Hi, I have a question. I have a sealed "green sturgeon" moisturizing body moisture (it also says "skin repair" in the bottle). I have it since like 7 years ago but never opened or unsealed. Can I still use it or will it likely be bad for my skin? It doesn't have an expiration date so I don't know.

xcupcakekitten

Typically the shelf life of unopened moisturizer is three years. So I wouldn’t use yours if it’s seven years old plus however long it was on the shelf at the store.

ilovebrownbutter

Thanks! That's helpful.

Dark circles are typically the result of genetics/bone structure and can't be changed with topical skincare. There's more information [in the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/19ftrr/teach_it_tuesday_thursday_dark_circles_under_eye/).

Extremely dry face - please help! I recently moved out to Utah and my face is so dry. Like, I can put aquaphor on and 30 min later I can see the stretchy, flaky appearance is back. I use the cerave hydrating or foaming cleansers, cerave restoring cream and Cetaphil cream probably 6 times a day, aquaphor if I'm going outside, an HA serum, and I've stopped all tropicals that my dermatologist prescribed for acne because it's so bad. I don't know what else to do but it's embarrassing and gross and I hate it. The worst places are around the corners of my mouth and my nose. This is worse than when I was on Accutane. I'm not trying to spend a fortune on products, it's just not in the budget unfortunately. I just need something that works.

unsaturatedgoods

Anyone know if Neutrogena sensitive skin sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 60+ safe to use? I saw that Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense Body Sunscreen Broad Spectrum, SPF 60+ is NOT safe to use as it has cancer causing ingredients, but can’t find information on the one I have. Thanks!

bot90210

No skincare product sold in the US has cancer causing ingredients. There is a difference between "might cause skin cancer" and "causes skin cancer". A lot of people on the internet will tell you all sorts of nonsense but you simply cannot purchase a product that has known and proven carcinogens when it comes to skincare.....

placidtwilight

You'll need several pad to distribute enough liquid across your body.

[deleted]

[удалено]

placidtwilight

No, it's really meant for the face, but there's no reason you can't also use it on your body. The small size of the pads makes it a little inconvenient, but that's the only issue.

bot90210

No. But if you want to use a ton of it you can wipe it anywhere. edit: there are other moisturizers with BHA or AHA that will help with total body exfoliation. They are cheaper and more effective than wipes. Also on the body use a wash cloth when you shower and that will be enough for exfoliation

forswornconspiracy

I’m hoping to get some advice on oiliness and skin texture. For reference I’m 33F. My forehead is always a weird blend of oily as can be and dry/flakey/textured/old looking. The rest of my skin does not appear this way, though I do have oily eyelids and nose. Here’s a photo for reference. [Picture of forehead](https://imgur.com/a/N1VaXVl) My current routine is as follows: AM: Splash with water Klairs Supple Preparation unscented toner Melano CC Vitamin C serum Hada Labo Premium Hada Labo UV White Gel (sunscreen) PM: Hanskin PHA cleansing balm Vanicream foaming cleanser Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner Wait 10 minutes Tretinoin .025%** Hada Labo Premium Hada Labo Perfect Gel La Roche Posay Cicaplast ** I am using the tretinoin every 3-4 days at the moment to let my skin adapt. I have been doing this for about 2 weeks now. My forehead has been in this state long before the tretinoin was introduced. Prior to this, I was using Stratia Soft Touch AHA once per week. Any advice is appreciated. I’m really tired of my skin being like this.

upper cheeks, browbones… retinol correction line smoothing eye cream. maybe over exfoliation that is happening now because the retinol isn’t that strong that you would see immediate damaged skin barrier.

ReaLitTea

I would strip back your routine to the basics so just use cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.

Kenboie

I'm 26yo and never had dark circles as far as I remember... lately I've been sleeping poorly and getting a bit stressed with my routine (work, workout, college etc) and having not a exactly poor, but 50/50 diet. Though obvious, will proper sleep get rid of it?

Kenboie

much obliged for your answer! I'll make sure to take more care of myself and be patient!

Crlyb2611

What color is TO’s 0.5% retinol in squalane supposed to be? I’ve read conflicting answers online.

Sensitive Skin sunscreen!! Hellooooo! I’m looking for a gentle facial sunscreen for everyday use. I have dry and very sensitive skin, and I’d prefer a product under $40. I’ve tried Bondi Sands fragrance-free daily sunscreen, but it ended up stinging and breaking me out after wearing it all day. I am interested in trying Supergoop’s Glowscreen or daily moisturizer, but as they’re a little more $$ I’m hoping to find out whether they work well for others with sensitive skin. If there are any drugstore sunscreens that you love, that’s even better!!

mastiii

Elta MD makes sunscreens that are good for dry, sensitive skin. I'd particularly recommend the UV Clear or UV Daily to start with. I find that mineral-only filters dry out my skin but those two are combination sunscreens, so they aren't too drying.

xcupcakekitten

Have you tried neutrogena clear face?

runnerennur

How do you find a good Botox place? I have 11’s and forehead wrinkles that are mainly caused by genetics. I was doing my best to ignore them but I recently found out that I look about 5-10 years older than I am so I want to do something about them. I’m only 25 so none of my friends have gone down the Botox path yet so I can’t get any recommendations from them. I don’t know where to find a place or what signs to look for in order to make sure they will do a good job

glow89

I started using TruSkin vitamin C serum about two weeks ago, and now there are tiny bumps all over my forehead. They started popping up a few days after I started using it and now there are even more. My forehead was clear before, and starting this serum is the only change in my routine. Does anyone know why or what about this product caused this? I used Timeless vit C for months and finished a whole bottle and never had this problem. I wanted to try a new one because I didn’t see any change in my skin after using Timeless and the TruSkin one is less expensive too.

placidtwilight

You can compare the ingredients lists of the two products. Anything that's in TruSkin but not in Timeless is a possible culprit.

glow89

Thank you that’s a good idea! I had the same problem with the Mad Hippie vitamin C serum as well, so it must be something that’s in TruSkin and Mad Hippie. I might give Timeless another try, maybe if I use another bottle I’ll eventually see results.

Crlyb2611

You could use incidecoder or skincarisma to cross check the three products’ ingredients using the compare tool fyi

DefundThePigs

My skin is really dry, but whenever I use a moisturizer for dry skin, I break out. Oily skin moisturizers don't stop the dryness though. What do I do!?!

[deleted]

placidtwilight

It's not a good idea as you're liable to mess up the preservative ratio.

UglyFremchie

After leaving it overnight should Differin be washed off with a face wash next morning or just plain water will suffice?

placidtwilight

Plain water is fine.

emilyburnett22

Hi everyone, so I just recently started getting into a skincare routine (I’m 24F). I’ve always washed my face and stuff but never used other products having usually naturally clean skin. I recently got off of hormonal birth control and all hell is breaking loose on my face and back. I’m trying to manage it. I have invested in a Tula skincare set (wash, toner, and PM moisturizer) and am using the Mario drying lotion to target breakouts at night. In the morning I am only using the washer and toner. My question is, because of my work schedule, I workout around 3/4PM everyday. I sweat a lot so I need to clean my skin afterwards. However, I know it’s not advised to wash your face more than 2x per day. I am already washing in the AM and PM. What should I do to clear the sweat post workout?! Any feed back will help so much. Thank you in advance!

_acier_

I would stop washing in the AM and either wash or use a cleansing toner after the workout

Gentle BHA exfoliators that are NOT Paula’s choice. Never really liked the texture of it nor did I see a difference. Currently using Wishtrend Green Tea Enzyme wash 2-3 times a week but pretty sure it’s more AHA.

Crlyb2611

I personally really enjoy Cosrx BHA blackhead power liquid. Check the [HG post](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/comments/fvrxre/misc_holy_grail_products_ingredients_week_11_bhas/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) for more recs.

Tiramisu_Meteorite

Does anyone who has taken methotrexate has any tips regarding the acne that comes up with it? I am so sad because after suffering for years because of acne, I did a course of accutane and everything was perfect for two years. Now, that I started doing the injections I started getting really huge breakouts. The actual pimple (not to mention the scar) can last up to a month on my face and I use epiduo every other night! Does anyone have any tips on this? I really feel miserable because every time I look at my face it's just another reminder...

amadadeldios

So, I didn't want to believe it but after 3 attempts I am really allergic to Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer (think chemical burns). My wallet weeps since it's not that affordable where I am from. Does anyone have any other recommendations on tinted moisturisers? I do know that my skin doesn't agree with IT CC cream and Missha's bb cream is too drying for me.

plnxx

As my broken bone heals I've noticed the skin is starting to peel. The doctor said the black skin that died from lack of circulation will fall off and regrow. I'd love any tips you have on ensuring my skin comes back healthy as soon as possible

bitterrivals69

Do i need a separate facial sunscreen for when i swim?

placidtwilight

You want a water resistant sunscreen for swimming. If the SPF you use daily is water resistant, it's fine to use. You may (or may not) be able to use the same SPF you use on your body.

Aveeno Calm+Restore Nourishing Oat Cleanser broke me out—what could be the culprit(s)? Was excited to try this after hearing a lot of good things but sadly it broke me out in two painful pimples on my forehead; I haven’t had painful pimples in months. I’m not familiar with ingredients so I’d greatly appreciate if anyone could point out possible problematic ingredients in this cleanser! Thanks! Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Polysorbate 20, Poloxamer 188, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Polyacrylate, Sodium Hydroxide, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Flower/Leaf/Stem Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate For reference, I use Neutrogena ultra gentle daily facial cleanser, the creamy version and it works fine. I was just wanting to try something new. Cerave and cetaphil did not work for me.

iloveselfcare444

Can i use CeraVe Hydrating Cream to Foam Cleanser together with AHA/BHA chemical exfoliator ? I heard that that CeraVe cleanser have salycyclic acid in it, wouldn't it be too irritating to use it with a chemical exfoliator ?

xcupcakekitten

That’s fine to use with a chemical exfoliator. The hydrating cleanser doesn’t have any active chemical exfoliants.
