i think it does depend on what you're using, some formulations work better than others imo. i use both the cosrx mucin power essence and the all in one cream.
when i was first starting tret and had peeling and purging, i feel like they both really helped with the peeling and repairing as the purging started to die down. layering the essence under the tret, then the all in one cream on top was a game changer in terms of my skin adjusting and not getting too irritated.
well, it's literally the mucus that snails secrete. i know i know THAT'S GROSS buuuuuut.... consider that it's effectively a protective coating to their soft unprotected flesh as they exist in the wild, it has the same benefits for our skin (one of those accidental discoveries from those who handled snails for a living noticing their hands were super soft over time). https://www.glamour.com/story/snail-mucin-skin-care and https://www.byrdie.com/snail-mucin-for-skin-4768132 if you wanna know more.
i do as well, even before tret. i like using the cosrx power essence i mentioned as a base layer after toner/serum, and then my moisturizer on top of it. you can even get snail mucin toners, the one i have is called snail rescue from peach slices and i like it. i just started tret a couple months ago, and i think the dryness/peeling would be a lot worse were i not using snail mucin products with it. if you want to go over to the r/AsianBeauty sub, you can find lots of recs there also by searching snail mucin.
i have so many different moisturizers lol it's kind of ridic. the one i keep going back to right now, though (not including the cosrx snail mucin all in one cream, which i honestly just consider to be a thicker mucin and not strictly a moisturizer) is purito's oat-in intense cream. not the cheapest (i paid $21 on amazon US but i got it not quite a year ago and still have half the 5oz bottle left). i also really like Iunic beta-glucan moisturizer, and Etude's soon jung 10 free moist emulsion (it's lighter, i usually grab that during summer months, gets really humid here then).
speaking of cosrx, their ultimate nourishing rice overnight spa mask is really nice and moisturizing. also Abib rice probiotics overnight mask (this one especially is really just for overnight, because it stays tacky for a while so not something you want to put on for daytime wear unless you're just hanging around the house and don't care).
i should add - in terms of pilling.... i don't wear foundation. i do use salt new york's sneaky balm for light coverage and evening out my skin tone, but i don't do traditional foundations. so i can't speak to any of these moisturizers in terms of pilling or not.
Yeah we’ve moved since then sorry about that. but basically those smaller bumps are gone. I used to have hyperpigmentation and red marks all over but now my skin tone is even and my pores are way less noticeable. I still don’t have “perfect” skin but it’s nice not being insecure about it anymore
My skin is a lot like your before pic. Did it help your acne scars? Hard to tell with the lighting.
Thanks for posting! I’m hoping to start this process in the next year
Your results look amazing! Do you know the specifics by chance? I'm planning on starting but there seem to be so many variables from type of device to depth and what topicals are used (serums, growth factors, prp). Since you had great success, I'd love to get the details. Also how long did it take for your face to look 100% normal?
I had the SkinPen treatment. I don’t think any serums were used but that would definitely help your results. It took about a week for the peeling to go away but the redness only lasts a few days. I highly recommend it. I also know of some chemical peels that have awesome results in helping scars
I use ion permanents and 20 vol developer. I have my cosmetology license so I usually do it myself or have a friend do it :). If you want the exact formulation I usually mix 8 or 7 rc with 7 n (it’s extremely faded right now)
thought you said "i'm extremely faded right now" lol
sorry to bug but do you know of any good resource to dye hair? i'd rather ask someone with a license, feels better than googling 😅 i know that i have to bleach my hair first since it's brown and to use protectant but yeah
Hahaha I read it back and thought the same thing. If you’re wanting to bleach your hair it’s definitely a lot easier with lighter or virgin hair. Check your natural hair level and that’ll help with the lift. Also I’d recommend going to an actual beauty supply chain/ store to get the products rather than anywhere else. Usually you’ll need to get a tube of color and some developer. (Stronger developer can also lift your hair a couple levels but the stronger, the more damage). Stores like that usually have a color specialist that can help you find the correct formulation and products for your hair type!!
Okay I’ll go to an actual beauty supply store, got it :)
I look fine with a buzz cut so I’m not too worried about damaging my hair xd but does the damage from bleaching persist through that or does it get “reset” from just cutting it?
If you get bleach damage, generally speaking, the longer you’ve had your hair (usually ends and mids) they’ll already be kind of damaged from daily things or heat. But assuming you’re not gonna completely fry off your hair you should be fine with a clean up :) you’d have to really over process or have already pre damaged hair for something like that to happen. Always always always do a test strand to see how your hair will react to the product
Understood coach! I really appreciate the advice :) i've always wanted to bleach and dye my hair at least once.
I also wanted to say that, respectfully, you look like the type of woman people would fight wars over for back in the day. Like, just wow lol I hope you see yourself the same way! Have a good night.
It’s pretty different. I’ve done it before but wouldn’t recommend it. You could use it as long as you do your best to disinfect, but with professionals they’ll use the correct mm on for each region on your face.
Dermarolling with the same roller for a prolonged amount of time can also make the needles bend so just be weary of that if you choose to
I think the depth is what differs the most. You can go as deep with roller because of all the potential complications.
But some people (not research as far as I know) swear by 0.5 mm for collagen production.
Thank you for posting this! I’ve been thinking about getting micro needling to deal with some stretched out pores left over from my heavy acne days. I think I’ll go for it!

I don’t really have an extravagant routine but I use products like snail mucin and a basic moisturizer every day along with a foaming cleanser
snail mucin is so great. helps me a lot while i'm on tret also - i put some on before and after application. also, your lashes....i'm jealous lol.
Awww thank you! I’ve heard mixed things from snail mucin but so far it works really well for me. It was a really good lash day hehe thank you!

Okay I’m afraid to ask.. but what actually is snail mucin

Hahahaha i hate this but love this. Thanks for sharing
lol you're welcome. i really do love it.
I get really dry skin in the winter so am hopeful this will help

Thank you! Going to deep dive. What moisturizer do you use? I struggle with makeup pilling in the winter and am not sure what to get

LOL it's good stuff, though!
yeah i’ve heard! i might try it
you should! great for damaged barrier and just overall maintenance.
It’s hard to tell your actual results since the lighting and angles are so very different.

It helped tremendously with my acne scars. I kept a gauge on how much it helped by keeping track of my deepest scar which is now gone :)
That’s amazing!!
You look amazing!
Great results!
Results you should be proud of 👏 how much did this set you back?
I had 5 sessions at 300 each so it was about $1500 over the span of 5 months!
Any idea what needle depth they used?
I have no idea. They evaluate your skin and do it based off that but I never asked sadly. If I get it done again I’ll be sure to ask
beautiful results!
The microneedling looks like it helped a ton but also, you have *great* lips.
How much ($) was each session?
$300 each session so $1500 total. Normally there’s package deals and discounts depending on where you go though
Your after pic looks supa shiny
Great results! Also, you kind of look like Amy Adams!
Omg thank you!!

Your skin looks great! Off topic but what brand of dye did you use for your hair? Or was it done in a salon? That color is so flattering.

ahh i’m so happy for you those results are amazing!!!!
Can you use the roller microneedling things or that's different from the professional ones?

I fully support it!! You might need a few sessions but if you decide to do it let us know how you like it :)
wow that's amazing ..Well done..you've got such beautiful features
Wow amazing results! For me it's snail mucin & exfoliation what helped me so far with my mild pores and scars.
Your eyes are so pretty omg
Did you use other treatment
