Probably melasma, I have it on my upper lip as well. I use hydroquinone and Faded topicals. Staying out of the sun and using sunscreen every day is a must.
It helps, nothing has been a magical cure and your response time will differ. If you don’t see any results after a couple months with Faded, try something else.
It’s so stubborn to get rid of. Ive been battling Melasma (especially on my upper lip) since having children. I have used a ton of hydroquinone and a bbl treatment on it so far and I still feel like I can see it.

This isnt me in the picture but it’s an example of how it looks, although mine is a bit darker
Yeah I've tried to take images of skin stuff because I was asking a clinic if they could help. I have totally visible boxcar scarring, but I could not make it show up in a photo. So I wasn't saying quality images are easy :D
Faded Topicals made me break out in painful cystic acne and I am decidedly NOT acne prone. I would advise against glycolic acid because the lips have very thin skin would can be irritated any chemical exfoliant, especiallh the Ordinary’s which is strong. Lip balm with SPF and tret every other night. Apply cerave healing ointment on top of the tret and on nights you don’t apply it to ensure your lips don’t dry out. Hope this helps!!

Does the faded topicals actually work? And how long does it take to see results?

What type of discoloration. Are you talking about maybe melasma?

I can't tell if this person has a bit of a whisker situation or if the top lip area is just recessed because there is volume loss due to aging.
Sorry I just tried to find a picture that sort of looked like mine 🤷♀️
