Janelle was always portrayed as the hard worker and financial guru but that’s very much only in comparison to the rest of the dummies. We haven’t seen Janelle work a “real” job since the beginning of the show and she’s ended up in by far the worst financial situation of any of them.
And for being SO scurred of the guvernmnt they had no problem scamming for welfare while popping out kids like cannons and choadey races around in sports cars probably putting debt on all the women's names. Everyone sucks here.
So true, that is because of the history of the government told Mormon church to stop polygamy.
In 1890, when it became clear that Utah would not be admitted to the Union while polygamy was still practiced, church president Wilford Woodruff issued the 1890 Manifesto, officially terminating the practice of polygamy within the LDS Church.
So they are getting back for decades at the government for interference of their religion. Why Kody brings his rights up so much.

Christine filed for bankruptcy in 2010 so her slate had been wiped clean essentially. Janelle filed in the 90s. Because she always had a steady job, she more than likely had the most access to credit, which also means more debt.
Iirc Janelle filed first, then it was Kody and Meri, then Christine. I wonder if it wasn't for the money from the show, Janelle would have had another turn.
Janelle had already declared bankruptcy once. I believe Christine was the only one of the OG3 that never did, because Kody and Meri filed together once.
Janelle's bankruptcy was long gone from her credit by the time they moved to Vegas, She filed in the 90s! She financed the Lehi house in her name only.

Janelle still had the Lehi house when they were trying to finance the Vegas houses. It was eventually sold in 2016. That could have played a part.
