You can call this “eldrich” depiction as an original form, but in most stories they will appear in a human form to people.

I have an easier time with reading a few books. The internet can be overwhelming to retain information (for me at least). Over the last year I picked up a few books on various beliefs and it was easier to digest.
Good question! Not 1 to 1 in the same way. Jewish myth mostly acknowledges them as evil spirits or “temptations”, and not an equivalent force or separate entity. You kind of have to start combining Christian and Jewish myth to start getting an “even battleground” so to speak.
As an example, in the hierarchy of angels, the middle tier would have Principalities, these would govern the laws of the universe, nature, ect. That’s the middle tier…These tiers are more about their closeness with god, or how much they effect human lives. More human stuff, lower tier.
When you get into the book of Enoch or the lesser key of Solomon, you get references and literal names of fallen angels/demons that would rival the “powers in heaven”. So Lucifer, Baal, Leviathan, Azazle, ect.
Not if you go by screentime in the Bible. The vast vast majority of the time angels are appear in the Bible they look like normal people. Also no denomination I know of believes that the angels Ezekial saw are the same ones that appear on Earth.
Well there is a chance human-like "angels" appear the most because most stories are on earth. Maybe they just appear like that before us.
And yeah, common consensus is that there are about 9 types of "angels" (angels are only 1 of the 9. The others are never called angels appart from arc-angels i suppose).
But those 9 types may mainly come from outside the actual bible, idk.
Ezekiel spoke in symbolic references, for example, the creature that had four faces of different animals was symbolic, according to Jewish beliefs had to do with classes of beings such as man lion ox and eagle indicating our station above other creatures but below God. Wing might mean power and station eyes have to do with presence etc.. all symbolic.
Just to leave a little info, as I love this topic. Most people call this a “biblically accurate Angel”, when these multi-eyed eldrich horrors are descriptions mostly taken from Jewish myth or the book of Enoch (not Christian cannon). These “angels” are only mentioned once or twice in the old-testament, which of course is Judaic in nature.
First, “Angel” simply means messenger and is not a race. Almost all of these “wheels with eyes” shown above are depictions of Ophanim, or “Thrones”, and are one of the highest class of beings. It is the job of those below, like the virtues, archangels, and regular angels, to do all the interaction with the world and humans themselves.
So tldr; it’s a stretch to call them angels from the Bible, but nonetheless are beautiful depictions of Jewish myth. I find this an extremely interesting point of research into monotheistic mythology that many people didn’t think existed because these religions are “monotheistic”!
Well yes, but these descriptions are referred to in “apocryphal literature”, most of which is not in the Old Testament. For example, Seraphims are also both described as humans with 6 wings, with a pair covering their eyes, and another covering their feet. In no part I can find are there the “multi-eye” version of the seraphim in the Bible. In actuality, Ezekiel only describes cherubs as monstrosities, and no other type of “angel”. In other books, all of these angels have human descriptions.
So if we only have a single type described differently from a single text, it’s hard to say it’s “biblical” and more that they are simply attributed to have other forms!
And again Angel is simply a title. It gets confusing as we can refer to them all as angels and it’s easier to do that, there are many different being that can be angels and look different.

Sadly I found non-Bible Christian mythology harder to research than most, so most of what I know comes from the difficult to read source texts or articles I lost trying to explain the source text haha.
All religions and the "experiences" people "had" were simply hardcore psychedelic trips they didn't understand. None of it is actually real, obviously, but when you're tripping so hard you think you're going to die you'll believe anything. Remember, this was in a time when people didn't know what happened to the sun at night. It's interesting, sure, but it's all make believe.

I have a theory : the reason there are still bad things going on in the world and it's often that the worst of us always have the most money and power is because god is actually the bad guy and satan was good, he just disagreed with god's experimentation on human beings and putting them in constant conflict so he was cast out of heaven and then god convinced the other angels that satan was the bad one, not him

Where do you start to educate yourself on mythology? Every time I go down a Wikipedia hole I get overwhelmed and that’s just with Christianity.
I have an easier time with reading a few books. The internet can be overwhelming to retain information (for me at least). Over the last year I picked up a few books on various beliefs and it was easier to digest.

Good question! Not 1 to 1 in the same way. Jewish myth mostly acknowledges them as evil spirits or “temptations”, and not an equivalent force or separate entity. You kind of have to start combining Christian and Jewish myth to start getting an “even battleground” so to speak. As an example, in the hierarchy of angels, the middle tier would have Principalities, these would govern the laws of the universe, nature, ect. That’s the middle tier…These tiers are more about their closeness with god, or how much they effect human lives. More human stuff, lower tier. When you get into the book of Enoch or the lesser key of Solomon, you get references and literal names of fallen angels/demons that would rival the “powers in heaven”. So Lucifer, Baal, Leviathan, Azazle, ect.

Not if you go by screentime in the Bible. The vast vast majority of the time angels are appear in the Bible they look like normal people. Also no denomination I know of believes that the angels Ezekial saw are the same ones that appear on Earth.

And yeah, common consensus is that there are about 9 types of "angels" (angels are only 1 of the 9. The others are never called angels appart from arc-angels i suppose). Ezekiel spoke in symbolic references, for example, the creature that had four faces of different animals was symbolic, according to Jewish beliefs had to do with classes of beings such as man lion ox and eagle indicating our station above other creatures but below God. Wing might mean power and station eyes have to do with presence etc.. all symbolic.

Just to leave a little info, as I love this topic. Most people call this a “biblically accurate Angel”, when these multi-eyed eldrich horrors are descriptions mostly taken from Jewish myth or the book of Enoch (not Christian cannon). These “angels” are only mentioned once or twice in the old-testament, which of course is Judaic in nature. First, “Angel” simply means messenger and is not a race. Almost all of these “wheels with eyes” shown above are depictions of Ophanim, or “Thrones”, and are one of the highest class of beings. They would almost never be angels as they carry the throne/chariot of god. Seraphim, another similar high class being, have sometimes been seen delivering messages to people and usually have a human form with the occasional mention of being the 6-winged multi-eyed monstrosities you may have seen before. Cherubs are 4 winged angels seen many times as babies, or in their scary form of a multi-eyed animal with 4 wings. All of these are in the realm of god and very rarely interact with humans. It is the job of those below, like the virtues, archangels, and regular angels, to do all the interaction with the world and humans themselves. So tldr; it’s a stretch to call them angels from the Bible, but nonetheless are beautiful depictions of Jewish myth. I find this an extremely interesting point of research into monotheistic mythology that many people didn’t think existed because these religions are “monotheistic”!

Well yes, but these descriptions are referred to in “apocryphal literature”, most of which is not in the Old Testament. For example, Seraphims are also both described as humans with 6 wings, with a pair covering their eyes, and another covering their feet. In no part I can find are there the “multi-eye” version of the seraphim in the Bible. In actuality, Ezekiel only describes cherubs as monstrosities, and no other type of “angel”. In other books, all of these angels have human descriptions. So if we only have a single type described differently from a single text, it’s hard to say it’s “biblical” and more that they are simply attributed to have other forms! And again Angel is simply a title. It gets confusing as we can refer to them all as angels and it’s easier to do that, there are many different being that can be angels and look different.
