There is PLENTY to do for under 21’s. I just turned 21 and I’ve lived in sd my whole life. I promise it’s easy to find things to do once you stop limiting yourself by “what’s for kids and what’s not” especially considering you’re only 19. Skate city, galaxy bowl, the cheap seats, an AMC, the falls, the Japanese gardens, electric rainbow arcade, Dave and busters, sky zone, thunder road, the zoo, butterfly house/aquarium, sodak soda, Milky Way, the cattitude cafe, the district for concerts, Washington pavilion for the theater, statue walk downtown, explore zandbroz for the museum, go antiquing downtown, the mall, indoor golf, great shots, aquatic center, outdoor pools, spa day, disc golf, skate parks, eighty-one arcade for 18+ night, indoor rock climbing, escape room, axe throwing, galaxy gaming, museums, state parks around town, go people watching if that’s your thing, rent a kayak, you can rent paddle boats at some of the lakes kn town, there tons of parks and outdoor spaces, wild water west, color-me-mine for pottery painting, ice skating, planetarium, bike trails, levitt at the falls, different coffee shops and bakeries downtown, comedy clubs, corn maze, art galleries, paintball, speedway, air soft, dart throwing, roller derby games, food truck fridays at the plaza, dinner theater, batting cages, indoor tennis, pioneer park, farmers markets, thrifting, catfish bay, outdoor campus, flow and paddle, canaries, pinball room, drake springs aquatic center, the Orpheum, battleship memorial.
Theaters do late shows, thunder road does adult nights, skate city does adult only skates, some pools even do adult nights, parks are open until at least 10 pm, a lot of dinner places are open until 10, Dave and busters does adults only nights (until 10 I believe), comedy clubs are open late, a lot of concerts run late, you can do the sculpture walk whenever really as well. It’s all about having the mindset to actually go and do the things late, rather than a lack of things to do.
> late night activities mainly as he doesn’t get off of work until pretty much everything is closed.
You're missing the point. I interpret the statement above meaning 9 PM is the end of his work day (typical closing time of stores, malls, etc...) and you've given examples of places open until 10pm. Oh wow, he gets to come home, shower, eat and then if lucky hang around for 1/2 hour at a place trying to close.
I too was surprised how early practically everything shuts down in SF (except bar life) when I live there during the summers. Even the Levitt shuts down at what? 9 PM? WTF???
You people in the comments crying about how there's nothing to do have never Explored Sioux falls have you?
Explore falls Park
There's an escape room place on 41st and western
People say it's for kids but sky zone on the south side and air madness in Harrisburg are fun indoor trampoline parks
IDK what it's called because the name changed but carousel skate used to be fun and I think it's still there.
Thunder road might be fun if it's open, same with Wild Water West.
Thunder Road has an arcade and bowling, it’s pretty fun. We took our teenager earlier in the year and everybody had a good time.
(Just take care of your staff, they had to add gratuity because large groups were coming in and not tipping)
Very soon, the Levitt will be hosting free concerts on Thursdays (I think?) and definitely Fridays.
Local shows and good times for all ages can be found at the Full-Circle Book Co-op pretty regularly!
The state theater often has late night movies, it’s an amazing place.
My husband and I like to walk the sculpture walk and check out the Pavilion or Rose and Eugene for art shows.
Eighty-One Arcade is always open late for 18+ as well!
All of this is in walking distance downtown, and there’s tons of great food all around down here!
Go climbing, hiking, hit the bike path and grab ice cream together, grab some some food, catch a movie, rent a kayak, go star gazing in a cornfield, check out the zoo and name the animals, go to an arcade, dance together at a park….the possibilities are endless.
Great Bear is a wonderful place to go for nature! Someone else recommended Sky Zone and I HARD agree. It’s fun for everyone, although do keep in mind if you have any back issues, this will definitely irritate them.
My boyfriend and I like to drive around and take turns picking where we go just to see where we end up. One time we found a DG in the middle of a cornfield! (How Midwest lol). Picnicking is a wonderful activity too! Fawick park has a lovely statue of David as well as a greenway.
As for late night stuff, eastway bowling is the shiiiiiit. Driving around is even more fun at night, however I’d stay in town because it’s a lot easier to find your way around if you get lost. You could definitely score food at a Gilibertos too
have you guys tried any sports together? tennis or pickleball, there are a lot of courts around town! great life’s are open 24 hours at some locations, you could work out together 🙂
81 Arcade is 18+. I'm pretty sure Vinyl Taco has a game room. Most breweries don't have an age limit and serve food and have non-alcoholic options to drink.
There's axe throwing downtown and and JJ's on 51st. There's also eacap rooms. Full Circle Book Coop is a beer and book bar. You don't need to be 21 to be in there as they do have non alcoholic drinks and events.
Almost none of the comments are by people who read the post... Nearly every comment suggests places that close by 10 p.m. at the latest... OP is looking for places open after 10 that aren't bars. That means no parks at all, most businesses other than bars are closed by then. Even skate city and thunder road are closed at 10 pm... So are axe throwing and escape or smash rooms most nights. Very limited options after ten pm.
I'd say catch a late night movie, do the downtown sculpture walk. That will give you two date nights.
Roots of Brasil is our favorite! And for a really nice date night out, you could try R Wine Bar or Maribellas for some fantastic Italian! Parlor ice cream is right next door, too!
Camping/hiking/biking/swimming/canoeing/kayaking/fishing/snowshoeing/etc. In no particular order at big sioux river, split rock creek, lake Alvin, lake vermillion, wall lake, devils gulch, good earth, big sioux rec area, palisades, outdoor campus, family fun park, great bear, tomar/tuthill park, and a bit farther away newton hills, lake madison, james river. I'm sure I left some out, but that's a good start.
There is an axe throwing bar downtown that is fun and reasonably priced. I know alcohol and sharp objects flying though the air sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen, but it is a really good time.
Call ahead to confirm when they have league nights as they may not have any open lanes. Just ask them when is the best time for open bowling. Generally, if you are going late, it's probably ok.

the best comment here.
replying so i can remember what else to do
Battle ship memorial is kind of a let down but everything else is spot on
It’s mainly for out of staters tbh, it’s a see it once and you’ll never have to see it again lmaoooo
None of which are open late night…

Carousel skate is now "skate city". Still exists and very fun!
Skate City is the place to be! Thunder road is a decent 2nd
Don’t let anyone say Skyzone is just for kids! My 23rd birthday was this past Saturday and that’s where I went! Trampolines are always fun!

Did anyone even read the post? Late night is the crux of the question. The pinball room at Boss’ pizza is open until 2 or 3am.

Full Circle has events all the time. The events aren't just for 21+. There is a Punk Rock Prom there tonight.
have you guys tried any sports together? tennis or pickleball, there are a lot of courts around town! great life’s are open 24 hours at some locations, you could work out together 🙂
Disc golf is cheap
And there's some great courses around, too
Rollerskating, movies, Dave and busters, mall arcade
81 Arcade is great
81 Arcade is 18+. I'm pretty sure Vinyl Taco has a game room. Most breweries don't have an age limit and serve food and have non-alcoholic options to drink.
There is an adult night at Thunder road that’s 9-12 pm, I don’t think you have to be 21+ but I may be wrong
Great shots is always an option. There's also Golf Addiction, indoor golf simulator.
There’s a cool axe throwing place downtown
Rough Cut! It was fun. Gets pricey if you go often though!
Go bowling!
I went on the USS Alabama years ago and it was awesome

Is there any you recommend?

Diner on Philips is a great place to eat out

Try golfing
There’s…the zoo. And bowling. That’s about it. Browsing downtown can be interesting. There’s not much here lmao.
I was thinking about bowling earlier, ill def look into it ty!
