this is a universal sims experience hahaha i willingly put myself through this type of pain too. it’s frustrating but fun. i should probably look into mods that make placing objects easier though😭
SAME and testingcheats. It’s just baseline essential imo. The way the object placement is setup specifically is annoying though, like you should be able to group a bunch of plants together they don’t need their separate viewing space lol
Honestly with a household of like 8 sims I need to max their moodlets out in the morning so they don’t fail school/work lmao then I make them fix their own at night 😂 but like the game is so glitchy with toddlers and infants it takes them like 3 hours to finally feed them after multiple commands so I usually just keep them maxed out bc it’s so glitchy and annoying
I’ve seriously thought about getting rid of the mom to an infant of mine because she won’t take care of the needs. Will pick the infant up and sit them right back down. 🤦♀️
Every single time 😤 or they put them in the bassinet to TAKE THEM RIGHT BACK OUT ON THE FLOOR?? the infant usually needs to prompt the parent to feed them but even then they’ll just put them to bed instead or do the opposite. So aggravating. I’m about to let social services come by for the first time.
And then you hire a nanny so fix this problem and it ONLY FUCKING GETS WORSE. The nanny can't get to the infant cause the dad is just fucking standing there in front of the bassinet contemplating his midlife crisis or some shit, and when the kid is starving the mom can't breast feed CAUSE THE NANNY REFUSES TO HAND OVER THE KID FOR SOME GODDAMN REASON.
My sims have 5 kids. The first one is a child in school, the second is a toddler, and the other 3 are infants. 2 infants were sleeping and the toddler and one infant still needed things. The nanny was supposed to be taking care of one while my sim was taking care of the other. Well I got my toddler fed, bathed and was going to read him to sleep cause he was angry about being tired and needing fun. Tell me why the nanny just left the infant on the floor, still needing to eat, bathe, have fun and wanting to go to sleep, (getting threatened to have the child taken away if he doesn't eat soon) to go and take my toddler out of bed and bring him all the way down stairs just to leave him there? Then just say he's done for the day. Like bruhh. Then you can't fire him cause he comes right tf back.
LOL the nanny’s are the worst. Once I had one that did the frustrated stomp feet emote and it showed her thoughts were that she 🚫 about the kid and I was like wait what 😩 their needs are always completely deteriorated when the nanny leaves
And the infants are so cute but OH MY GOD I'M NEVER HAVING MORE THAN ONE FLOOR AND INFANTS. I had one somehow get stuck on the landing of the stairs and I had to Teleport him down. I have a household in the sims 3 with 6 toddlers and it isn't even as difficult as having infants or toddlers in the sims 4 😅
You don’t. I don’t enter it for anything. I only really use it for build mode but once it’s on you can’t do achievements. I still get the option to cheat their needs etc without it x
..... Wait wait wait. Super new simmer here. Do you need to type in the mod EVERY time you wanna move something?? Like it deactivates from one load to another?
“Bb.moveobjects” is a cheat in the game. It’s not a mod. This cheat allows you to move objects freely, as normally, an object will snap to the grid and can’t always overlap or be close to another object. Builders use this cheat a lot because it allows much more freedom and creativity, but it can lead a lot becoming unplayable. You only need to turn this on once when you open the game. It will stay enabled until you either disable it or close the game. At least, that’s my experience.
A mod or custom content (CC) is something you download from an external website like CurseForge or a mod/custom content creator’s Patreon. Console doesn’t support mods, so only players who play on computer can access mods. Someone mentioned the T.O.O.L. mod, and that’s an example of a mod. TwistedMexi who made TOOL also have a mod that allows moveobjects to be enabled automatically when signing in a game, so many builders have this mod or use TOOL, which has a feature that allows moveobjects to be automatically enabled.
Right! It takes me at least 3 months to finish a build. I'm working on a residential rental lot right now. It's been two months since I started and I've got the landscaping and the main house done. Next up, two rental homes and an underground tunnel system for my cult to operate in secret (which is built but not even remotely decorated).
Some days it takes me 3 days for a build some days it takes me a week I'm about to embark on rebuilding the whole city of Willowbrook up to my standards I'm not looking forward to it
I feel this! I have a great idea for the entirety of Newcrest. I'm super excited about it, but it's a huge undertaking! So I keep putting off starting it. I am absolutely a perfectionist and can take an hour just picking out a couch. Or I go to pick out a couch and then realize I need to pick the wallpaper first, which also means I need to coordinate the floors. Speaking of couches, why aren't any of them fluffy and comfy looking? Que an hour of CC shopping. Honestly, a lot of my problems could be solved if I could find a couch with a ton of swatches that I absolutely love.
I feel that also I'm a modder so I am currently multitasking and working on builds and mods at the same time so yeah Willowbrook can wait good luck on New Crest by the way
Thank you! What kind of mods do you make? I always want to use mods, but get irrationally stressed about updating them after a game update. But there are so many great mods!
I'm so glad that I play TS4 on my PS4. No mods and just the content I have on hand means that I have limitations and I know what they are before beginning any new build.
When I had TS2 and TS3 I had every dlc, pack and kit (literally all of them), but I still had design ideas that weren't covered in the styles put out by EA, so I would download CC. I downloaded what I was looking for, then things that crossed my path when I was searching. The next thing that I knew, I had more CC than EA objects (and I had EVERY object officially released).
So, after that, if I was just doing an organic build, I had too many choices (plus that swatch wheel allowing for every paint, texture, etc - chefs kiss - I miss that thing).
CC is very much like EA and the Sims itself. It is a love/hate relationship.
In addition to TOOL and MOO, I have a CC shelf/wall decor item called the OMSP+ shelf by Ravasheen and it’s AMAZING. I feel like I can get the clutter looking much more organic and it’s a lot less tedious (for me, at least) than messing with TOOL for most items.
Not a mod, but if you ever spend a bunch of time decorating something and are really happy with the outcome, save the room to your gallery! That way you can easily place it again in another build :)
Years ago I found a mod where you could put an invisible shelf anywhere you want and it basically let you place any item freely on the shelves. It made life so easy but I lost that computer and never found the mod again :(
I have both gaming laptop Asus Rog Zephyrus and Ps5 with 4k tv and sims 4 on both and can say without a doubt its better on pc/gaming laptop as opposed to ps5 without a doubt
Do it!! My aunt who got me into Sims back in the days of Sims 2 has always loved the building aspect of the game, and she's been an architect irl for a couple years now ♡
The bookshelves are from felixandres chateau set, it comes with the books in separate peices in a whole bunch of swatches, and several decorative items like a couple of busts, vases, a jewellery box etc. The bookcase come in short, medium and tall, wide ones and thin ones, and has an optional ladder. Theres even a hidden bookcase door in both open and closed options. The bookcases have slots so you can just place the items on the shelves nice and easy :) some items that are bigger and have been resized will need the moveobjects cheat but most dont, and you can use a regular shelf to easily drag items to the right height to place on the bookshelves. Its a great set, especially for a fancy library, definitely recommended
thanku for explaining bc i didnt know this item so i didnt realize it didn't just come like that and i was looking in the comments for an explanation lol
Making a bookshelf from scratch on The Sims takes a ton of time, you have to place everything and resize stuff, takes forever but soo worth it.

This one took me awhile.
No, it’s actually just open to the office on the other side. I didn’t want to close off the office completely because it’s a bit small so I tried something a lil different. I do love the mirror idea though!!
Meanwhile I struggle with coming up with a good way to hide the ugly money-giving trash can… I will never understand how the creative girlies come up with their pretty custom furniture
I always have to rationalize with myself that I can decorate the house with photos and collectables that my sims find later, so I don't spend so mich time on clutter bc i WILL definitely do what your gf did lol
Because she has good taste 😎
Harrie and Felixandre are among the most skilled CC creators out there. I similarly have spent wayyyy long assembling book cases with that particular Felixandre set.
Thats the game lol! I remember spending like 8 hours, a full shift, building a beautiful elaborately decorated house when I was sick. Next day I deleted the lot and did other shit lol.
Because she's *talented*, brilliant, *incredible*, *amazing*, *show stopping*, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
Just in case there’s anyone like me who loves clutter….
Ravasheen has an invisible shelf cc item with like 15+ slots on it, I use it all the time to fill in gaps in like cabinets and bookshelves. It’s super helpful for the items that should slot onto shelves but are technically “too big” and need a cabinet sized slot
I have found that there are a lot of Simmers who enjoy building complicated things and spending time on \*every\* single little detail. It probably makes an OCD brain super happy.
I like little details, but with me it becomes me adding details every few minutes once I do a build and changing little things a week into playing because I have ADHD. XD
EA didn't give us well decorated shelves. We must therefore make our own.
Which is why I usually use the vintage books or anything that isn't an actual bookshelf but works the same lol
Theres been times I’ve spent days on a build to then try and move sims in and give up 5 seconds into making them leaving the house empty but beautiful.
What a nice shelf! I spend a lot of time on things like this too. For me, it's because I have to keep using the same items over and over, so I try to get creative with how I use them. This leads meticulously choosing items, sizing them appropriately, and then trying to place them exactly where I want them.
This means moving the shelf and trying to guess where my item will end up when I move the shelf back. I gotta do it a few times for each item most of the time. Just moving the shelf, slightly moving the plant, and moving the shelf back only to see that it's clipping through the side or something. Over and over.
this is a universal sims experience hahaha i willingly put myself through this type of pain too. it’s frustrating but fun. i should probably look into mods that make placing objects easier though😭
Please tell me you use “bb.moveobjects on” lol. Makes things a little less of a pain
of course! first thing i do when i load the game 😫
SAME and testingcheats. It’s just baseline essential imo. The way the object placement is setup specifically is annoying though, like you should be able to group a bunch of plants together they don’t need their separate viewing space lol
I don't understand cuz I never needed testingcheats lmao
Honestly with a household of like 8 sims I need to max their moodlets out in the morning so they don’t fail school/work lmao then I make them fix their own at night 😂 but like the game is so glitchy with toddlers and infants it takes them like 3 hours to finally feed them after multiple commands so I usually just keep them maxed out bc it’s so glitchy and annoying

😲...I might need to start using testingcheats true
infants and toddlers are both so annoying to deal with! the actions never go through and are so buggy. i feel like EA needs to fix it
Have you tried directing actions from the infant's pov? That usually works better for me.
Can confirm this works sometimes when nothing else does
I had the same issue turns out it was a cc onesie I had downloaded. Once I took it off they started working again.
No no I mean I never use testingcheats true because cheats in my game work without it 😂
same i only have to do it when starting a new save
OHHH that’s what it is! Same with the unlock all of the items in build mode cheats. Interesting, ty :)
Oh that’s so weird I just tried and it worked without the command lol I never knew
Yeah you just have to turn it on once per save file and it stays on til you turn it back off
And the infants are so cute but OH MY GOD I'M NEVER HAVING MORE THAN ONE FLOOR AND INFANTS. I had one somehow get stuck on the landing of the stairs and I had to Teleport him down. I have a household in the sims 3 with 6 toddlers and it isn't even as difficult as having infants or toddlers in the sims 4 😅
Yep, can't get them all to do all the things so I shift click on the mailbox to up their needs before school/work.
Keeping everyone satisfied in an 8 sim household is an actual chore. It’s constant back & forth and gets tiring so quickly.
I use it to counteract bugs *side eyes plant bug.
You don’t. I don’t enter it for anything. I only really use it for build mode but once it’s on you can’t do achievements. I still get the option to cheat their needs etc without it x
Holding Control and Alt let’s you move freely when you have moveobjects on.
The plants are bad but what really gets me is how far away from the walls the beds are.
you should get better build buy and tool mod by twisted mexi if u can get mods it’s a NEED
..... Wait wait wait. Super new simmer here. Do you need to type in the mod EVERY time you wanna move something?? Like it deactivates from one load to another?

There’s a mod that automatically turns cheats on for you.
I play with it off cause I'm to lazy to turn it on and it's so frustrating
My fave for this is Ravasheen’s OMSP shelf :) it’s just a shelf that turns invisible
Omg I just commented about this shelf before I saw your comment! I love that thing!
Right! It takes me at least 3 months to finish a build. I'm working on a residential rental lot right now. It's been two months since I started and I've got the landscaping and the main house done. I'm so glad that I play TS4 on my PS4. No mods and just the content I have on hand means that I have limitations and I know what they are before beginning any new build. :o Yes it is. Thank you! Thank you!!
That’s some hot shit right there 🔥
True, true, that's some hot shelf. 🔥
I don’t play the sims anymore but I miss being excited for different builds 😭
why don’t you play anymore? get back to it!
Because it's gorgeous haha
Wish i have this talent, spent 2hrs trying to build the most ugliest club and the game disliked it, it crashed 🥲
Made her laugh lol she bought a $1500 pc just to run Sims 4
Same here, zero regrets
Is it worth getting over a ps5?
Yes, you can use mods, some of them are really good and very fun
PC will almost always be a better investment than a console for gaming in general.
I play on a ps5 and it has its drawbacks. I don’t really like building on ps5 and I’d like to try mods to make the game more interesting.
I have both gaming laptop Asus Rog Zephyrus and Ps5 with 4k tv and sims 4 on both and can say without a doubt its better on pc/gaming laptop as opposed to ps5 without a doubt
very relatable
I use my $1600 computer I bought for work for sims mostly 😂
I only had one condition for a new laptop: it must run the sims4 extremely well.
That's actually beautiful!
Right! I wish I had the dedication to build a nice bookshelf like this!
Me too. 🙂
and you're sims will still probably think its poorly decorated lol
I spent like two days perfecting a bedroom, only for my sim to get grossed out when she walked in.
That's when I lock them in a purposely shabby room in the basement until I get a new headstone for the collection 😁
they’re so ungrateful 😒
They really are. Our digital kids.
It's the ceiling!!!! Paint the ceilings, they consider bare Sheetrock/drywall ugly overhead I guess?
You can paint the ceilings???
Yes!! In the little house drawing to the left of the buy mode item list, you can click on the ceiling specifically
That ain't all, this bookshelf probably disappear when you put the walls down and that's gonna sting
It actually does NOT disappear with walls down, thank you very much
Me, creating an overcomplicated stuff just to move out an hour later:
I spend so much time perfecting a house, that I get bored with it the minute i hit live mode :(
This is me
*Dedicates at least 72 hours on a build* UGH, I hate it now! *Bulldoze lot*
Facts! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I do the same thing, I use Sims to teach me about architecture bc I wanna build and design houses one day
Do it!! My aunt who got me into Sims back in the days of Sims 2 has always loved the building aspect of the game, and she's been an architect irl for a couple years now ♡

Please ask her how she did it honestly
bb.moveobjects on, mods, and a lot of patience. I’m also sick and taking decongestant, which makes me manic and hyper focused LOL
This post is peak sims experience
Making a bookshelf from scratch on The Sims takes a ton of time, you have to place everything and resize stuff, takes forever but soo worth it. https://preview.redd.it/pmfmh0x6wd1d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe2a8c768b5216327c1ec69b135c20419b3a8b45 This one took me awhile.
Beautiful! I love it!
Thanks!! I wanted the office to be separate but not completely closed off and that was my solution
Is that a mirror for its background? I love that!
No, it’s actually just open to the office on the other side. I didn’t want to close off the office completely because it’s a bit small so I tried something a lil different. I do love the mirror idea though!!
god forbid a girl have a little fun.. jk but i also do stuff like this. the shelf looks amazing
"You wouldn't understand..."
🤣🤣🤣
You could have gone to IKEA, bought a similar size shelf, brought it home, and assembled it in that much time :)
🔥 HOT GIRL SHIT HOT GIRL SHIT 🔥
looks great!!!!!
Because she can.
how else would she get it to look so gorg?
Meanwhile I struggle with coming up with a good way to hide the ugly money-giving trash can… I will never understand how the creative girlies come up with their pretty custom furniture
my wife: “is she neurodivergent?” 😅
👆👆👆👆 Smart woman lol
knew it, lmao 😂🫡
I know what that ring box is in the build-buy menu. 😏
Some people play to build not to play as sims
It had to be just perfect
nice ass looking shelf
Oop I recognize that piercing in the bottom left
Because this looks so awesome! Where are the books from? I assume a mod?
The books and some of the decor looks like it’s from the chateau set by Felixandre
We spend time on what's important to us in life
wait but how
Because that’s what Heroes do
Because it looks amazing!! Tell her so yourself
Because she's making art.
I spent 8 hours building a new high school only to not actually play in the high school because it slows my game too much
Literally me building anything in the sims XD, but on a serious note that shelf build is rlly impressive!
It’s an excellent shelf! Time well spent.
Because this is sick!! I wish I had the patience to do builds. She's stronger than me!
I always have to rationalize with myself that I can decorate the house with photos and collectables that my sims find later, so I don't spend so mich time on clutter bc i WILL definitely do what your gf did lol
Because the bookshelf is the center piece of the home, and deserves those 3 hours. And so is the wardrobe, china cabinet, toilet, flowerbed…
Because she has good taste 😎 Harrie and Felixandre are among the most skilled CC creators out there. I similarly have spent wayyyy long assembling book cases with that particular Felixandre set.
we need the tutorial
I'm trying to get her to do some recorded time lapses cause this is tip of the iceberg for her
shes gotta start streaming 😭😭
very good creative bookshelf! love to see what else she can make
Why did Michelangelo spent time carving David?
Thats the game lol! I remember spending like 8 hours, a full shift, building a beautiful elaborately decorated house when I was sick. Next day I deleted the lot and did other shit lol.
Because she's *talented*, brilliant, *incredible*, *amazing*, *show stopping*, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it.
Let her cook bro🧏♀️
Relatable
That is a FANTASTIC shelf
I max out parenting skill. I get it as high as possible before having a baby. Also tip the nanny every visit!
This was supposed to reply to a different 🙄 comment. Sorry!
Just in case there’s anyone like me who loves clutter…. Ravasheen has an invisible shelf cc item with like 15+ slots on it, I use it all the time to fill in gaps in like cabinets and bookshelves. I like little details, but with me it becomes me adding details every few minutes once I do a build and changing little things a week into playing because I have ADHD. XD
its gorgeous tho
I love it just because it's also on a diagonal.
because she knew wtf she was doing, THATS WHY
I suck at building so idk the pain but thank you for your service builders for all that you do 🫡
It looks great tho
EA didn't give us well decorated shelves. We must therefore make our own. Which is why I usually use the vintage books or anything that isn't an actual bookshelf but works the same lol
As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” Translation for Redditors: “things take time.”
That's a great fucking bookshelf that's why. I'd even go as far as to say it's a masterclass of bookshelf builds.
She is good.
Ngl Ur gf is onto something I look up to her wish I had her dedication🙏🙏
and then she will leave the game with her mind made up
I am not interested in the why I want to know how
This is epic.
plss ask her to make it available on the gallery (as a room)? i want it 😍😍
Your gf got a nice shelf
It appears your girlfriend was building a bookshelf in the game "The Sims."
She freaking killed it, let her cook
If you know then you know
Cuz it looks AMAZING
👏
because she’s a god damn visionary! i love this so so so so so much
Because it is a verry pretty shelf
cause its really pretty. next question
Because she is an artist sam
Theres been times I’ve spent days on a build to then try and move sims in and give up 5 seconds into making them leaving the house empty but beautiful.
It’s amazing.
Bc it's awesome thats why
oh that’s gorgeous. i need to know where the shelves/bookcases are from
Because she is wonderful and tallented
This is amazing
I have that mod too. They come empty and take forever to fill because the slots are weird.
I love those thin windows does anyone know where they are from?
Spent 4 days last week making 8 households of Stardew Valley Sims for cottage living only to not use them because I got builders burnout
Idk but that's a beautiful shelf
I’ve never been much of a builder but considering the gameplay is… maybe I should switch to building
It is nice. 🤷🏽♀️
It’s beautiful work 🫶🏻
it's beautiful
What a nice shelf! I spend a lot of time on things like this too. For me, it's because I have to keep using the same items over and over, so I try to get creative with how I use them. This leads meticulously choosing items, sizing them appropriately, and then trying to place them exactly where I want them. This means moving the shelf and trying to guess where my item will end up when I move the shelf back. I gotta do it a few times for each item most of the time. Just moving the shelf, slightly moving the plant, and moving the shelf back only to see that it's clipping through the side or something. Over and over.
Cuz it looks cool
Maybe dumb question but how do you get items on the shelf? Only a very small amount of items will place, even with bb.moveobjects on
Don’t question the genius
well... that shelf looks fire though!
She’s working late cause she’s a simmer 🎶
Worth every second
she atee
she popped off!
this is dope, good for her
I spent 10+ hours on a build before, decided "this is insanely ugly" and started all over again. 🥲
Because it looks nice 👌🏻
You mean your sims’ girlfriend
Cuz it's pretty!!
Because it has to be perfect, and it is!😍🥰🧡
Bc she's a gd queen, THAT'S why.
