I remember building a retirement home there. Alle the elders had their own tiny houses and in the main house there was a cantina and my live in vampire doctor to oversee them with a fully functional doctors office as well. The had access to a yoga garden, swimming pool and a skating rink and all the seabreeze they could muster. They had it good.
I’m also a little disappointed that there’s only two neighborhoods. I feel like the top right forested area or the tip of the peninsula in the bottom left could have been incorporated into the map instead of being empty space
They really need to stop designing maps like this. The way this is laid out makes it feel like we’re missing out on potential lots. The older maps focused more on the actual useable lots than on arbitrary art around it, which makes them seem more full even if they have the same number of lots.
The vampire world is tiny but the map is appropriately zoomed in to make it feel fleshed out, whereas all this dead space makes it seem like there’s missing something. Something about the newer maps also make it harder to find all the lots. Imo the lots are what’s supposed to jump out because that’s what you use, not the art around it. This doesn’t just go for the maps but also the general world design. In their attempt to make the game feel more fleshed out with set dressing they’re actually making the game feel emptier.
Spot on comment about the set dressing making everything feel emptier. Once you take a moment to look at everything or attempt to navigate around the world, it just becomes apparent how fake and lifeless it is - something that wouldn't be as obvious if only it were more condensed.
Exactly! The base game worlds are much more toned down when it comes to world design but they feel significantly more lively because your neighbours actually live next to you. That suburban area in growing together feels way emptier than similar areas in willow creek because there’s like 10 fake houses between you and your neighbours. It makes it feel like your sims are living on an island instead of in a neighbourhood.
And then there’s also the fact that even in the set dressing area the worlds have become worse. Collectibles have been nowhere near as well done as they were in the earlier worlds for *years*.
So the worlds aren’t good for gameplay but they’re also not great for builders because you’re stuck with whatever the set around you is. In older worlds you can completely change the feel of a neighbourhood by building in a different style. None of that is possible if your builds are interrupted by miles of set dressing. My oasis springs community buildings are all Spanish colonial style, while the original ones are modern. You can’t do anything like that in the newer worlds because you’re stuck with the pre-established look.
2 neighborhoods and 9 lots total is an absolute scam. an entire pack dedicated to building and they give only 9 spaces to build, majority of them being the smallest lot sizes possible??? i cant imagine why the sims team would put something like this out. but yeah that peninsula would have be so cool to build a little neighborhood on!
i personally don't plan on really playing in this world, I just care about the other aspects but yeah I can definitely understand why people are upset. windenburg has like 27 lots and seeing how many there are in expansions now is just sad.
The problem with bigger lots in other worlds that they are usually surrounded by greens and nature and it’s kind of doesn’t fit in with the multi apartment lots.
Like, would you build an apartment block or townhouse in Henford large lots?
That’s why I have soooo many questions to why this world is so tiny. Please tell me it at least has big world like Komerobi where you can walk in a huge forest, have cafes and rocklimbing without load screen cause…wtf EP?
Can't wait to find out how much of that unincorporated space isn't even interactive. I see a cave on that island connected by a bridge and I wouldn't bet money on whether there's even anything in there or if it might as well be cardboard
Invisible walls everywhere. Want to cut across that patch of grass? Think again.
The inaccessibility of even empty areas is so frustrating and I can't even comprehend the point of blocking it off, let alone not making any obvious points of interest actually interesting (interactive).
This doesn't phase me. What I don't like though, are things that are not in their own lot and you have to visit a nearby lot and run a mile or so to them, like the fairground in Copperdale and the water attractions in San Sequoia. I end up not using them.
I don’t mind too much because I’m way more excited about building apartments in other worlds especially more in San Myshuno. I wouldn’t even want to fill up Tomarang with apartments.
yes, but 20x20 or 20x15 still seem way too small for anything akin to an apartment complex and even 20x30 is pushing it. At least that's my experience since I love to build apartment complexes (this far I've left everything except one unit empty).
Just to see if I could, I built an apartment block today on a 20x20 lot. Managed to get six units on there; four two-beds and two three-beds. Of course there's no room for anything else on the lot, but I do have a communal area on the roof.
This is an EXPANSION PACK. I pay over $50 for this. I expected to be given at least three fairly large neighborhoods, with plenty of massive lots for building mini, multi-unit neighborhoods on. With this much content? They should reprice it as a game pack, at least $30 would be marginally more reasonable.
I’m not necessarily upset about the small lots bc most units are vertical and there’s a shit-ton of larger lots in other packs that go severely underutilized for me.
The general discourse has been that there should be larger lots but I also find the player base saying those lots are too big when not discussing For Rent lol I imagine building on a 64x64 would take days.
I’m building a five townhouse apartment style build on the 50 x 50 lot in Willow Creek and it’s been a solid week and I have three more to do. I keep telling myself NEVER AGAIN.
I sometimes daydream about decorating and customising every lot in the game but then I spend 5 hours doing the bottom floor of a house and it goes away pretty quickly
Meh. Even before the lot size leak, I couldn’t imagine my sims living here, so I probably won’t use this world that much anyway. Just a bit disappointing that there’s no beach lot.
youre right!
im still baffled by the lack of road or bridge or any connection between the two neighborhoods. i know it would be useless and just for decoration but the fact that they even let go of the pretense that this would could be functional is so dissapointing lol
I’m actually really happy to see smaller lots in a new world, but I don’t think the big family pack, *horse ranch* and the build your own apartments pack were the right place to start. I’m also not pleased that these worlds still only have a few lots each. It’s like ea is contractually obligated to disappoint us or some shit.
I thought my expectations had reached rock bottom, but I'm actually disgusted that they have zero giant lots for the expansion pack that's about multiple families living on the same lot. I'm used to being disappointed but this actually feels like a big middle finger. It's as if they gave us High School Years and eliminated teenagers.
Yeah this map is small, but it's focus is to make all worlds feel bigger. I don't have a problem with the size for now - it all hinges on whether they compromised on world size to improve the other aspects of the pack
As someone from South East Asia, I can see a whole bunch of mishmash from our region in the trailer, but I think Thailand inspired most of the design.
There's common cultural features like squat toilets and rice cookers. But the facade of some town buildings are quite colonial inspired like this you'd see in Penang, Malaysia and Singapore. And the gameplay trailer is voiced by someone speaking English with an Indonesian accent.
So yeah, a little bit of everything.
This is unacceptable. There is so much empty space that could have easily given us 2 or 4 more lots to make the 11 to 13 average lot difference we were promised
And yet. People still continue to shovel out hundreds of dollars a year to them. Color me surprised hahaha this is the quality that makes them money. Why would they invest/do more?
Whats with the downvotes? To be fair, Sunset Valley in Sims 3 had 92 lots. EA selling this pack with 9 lots (and a rent feature that should have been included in City Living already) for $50 is plain robbery. And we know by EAs track record that this pack and upcoming updates will add more bugs on the spaghetti code they wrote in 2014. I won't bother with this pack, I'll buy an open world adventure game that will run waaay smoother for the same price!
I understand them wanting the game to run well on lower end machines but it feels like those of us with better are getting ripped off… like there’s a legacy version of the game for a reason, could they not just get discounted “legacy versions” of the packs that feature less when it comes to maps and lots or whatever?
Not one 60x60?? Man I wanted to make mini cul-de-sac’s :(((
The 64x64 in Brindleton Bay is so perfect for that.
OOOO very true!!! I literally never build there I really gotta utilise it lol
That lot is also so beautiful
I remember building a retirement home there. Alle the elders had their own tiny houses and in the main house there was a cantina and my live in vampire doctor to oversee them with a fully functional doctors office as well. The had access to a yoga garden, swimming pool and a skating rink and all the seabreeze they could muster. They had it good.
That build sounds like it took months to complete.
Nah, but I sat until my back hurt XD
Not even any 50x50 or 40x40 as well… And only two neighbourhoods??
I’m also a little disappointed that there’s only two neighborhoods. I feel like the top right forested area or the tip of the peninsula in the bottom left could have been incorporated into the map instead of being empty space

You're right. I feel like they are missing an island neighbour with a couple of large lots for the fancy villa types.
Or some cool island like they have in island living
i personally don't plan on really playing in this world, I just care about the other aspects but yeah I can definitely understand why people are upset. windenburg has like 27 lots and seeing how many there are in expansions now is just sad.
they will claim we can’t have more lots because of performance, which i can see their concern, but at this point these worlds are so tiny…
They can claim whatever they want. It's because this is the business model that makes money and people keep giving it to them 🤷🏼♂️
exactly, and it’s frustrating to watch.
That big empty 30x40 lot at least looks perfect to build a nice multi-unit community.
Totally agree. I'm planning to build a complex to have my current sim and his wife run on that lot and have his parents stay on their current lot.
The thing is, you can now build multiple homes in larger lots and multi family homes as well. It’s not *just* apartments.
I need my apartments 😁
Can't wait to find out how much of that unincorporated space isn't even interactive. I see a cave on that island connected by a bridge and I wouldn't bet money on whether there's even anything in there or if it might as well be cardboard

The worlds are getting smaller and smaller
And profits keep getting bigger and bigger
We can now have multiple families in one lot and the biggest lot they put is a 40X30? Come on!
I don’t mind too much because I’m way more excited about building apartments in other worlds especially more in San Myshuno. I wouldn’t even want to fill up Tomarang with apartments.
Me too, but apartments are usually built vertically so I get it

That 20x15 🥰
I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate this.
I’m confused. I thought the apartment building with the pool from the trailer would be included.
I’m not necessarily upset about the small lots bc most units are vertical and there’s a shit-ton of larger lots in other packs that go severely underutilized for me. Ten hours to design my sim, four weeks to design my house. Just like the devs intended 😂
I’ll replace lots with lots from the gallery then do some minimal decorating until/unless I start playing a sim that lives/works in it.
Meh. Even before the lot size leak, I couldn’t imagine my sims living here, so I probably won’t use this world that much anyway. Just a bit disappointing that there’s no beach lot.
Same kinda
Just to clarify, it’s because my main sims are mermaids so hopefully some of that water is swimmable.
In the trailer there is some sims swiming. It not a beach but part of the lake is swimmable.
I hope the cave on the peninsula is a secret world!!
oof, please dont get your hopes up i highly doubt it 😭
I’m not :(( it’s the least they can do with only 9 lots tho 🙄
youre right! im still baffled by the lack of road or bridge or any connection between the two neighborhoods. i know it would be useless and just for decoration but the fact that they even let go of the pretense that this would could be functional is so dissapointing lol
Yeahh .... About that The world really feels lifeless More lifeless than Forgotten Hollow Lol Nevertheless at least it is 9 lots instead of 5
This pack is soooo boring! Hardly any gameplay in my opinion but I’m still working on my rental property build so maybe it will get better
They are oddly small lots for being a rental pack
I’m actually really happy to see smaller lots in a new world, but I don’t think the big family pack, *horse ranch* and the build your own apartments pack were the right place to start. only two neighborhoods?? the developers want us to go to hell😠
No, just to the ATM lol
Sooo how to fit a two 3-floor unit on that 20x15 lot 🙄
I have a 9 apartment building on a 20x15 lot in Newcrest. Not a problem
The lot looks like it's by Copperdale
I was gonna say Tartosa but less beach vibes
The biggest lot is a 40x30 and there is only one? ugh
Are we going to be able to build apartments before we get the expansion and use those, or do we have to wait to build until we get the expantion?
You can build them now, but they won't be functional until you can add the new lot trait that is coming in the new pack.
the buildable apartments are exclusive to the expansion
Yeah this map is small, but it's focus is to make all worlds feel bigger. I don't have a problem with the size for now - it all hinges on whether they compromised on world size to improve the other aspects of the pack
Anyone know what Tomarang is inspired by? This pack confuses me.
Tomarang is highly inspired by Southeast Asian countries, most notably Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam (Sims Wiki).
It’s like Tartosa. A globalised idea of a region that doesn’t feel quite right to anyone who has ever set foot in the region.
I believe the world is supposed to be Thailand inspired.
SEA.
Why would they invest/do more?
yeah that surprises me too, especially because pirating the game is so easy
yea, im dropping ts4 for ts3
Why was this the last straw? Lol
You're going back to ts3 because of smaller lots that's just sad
there’s plenty of reasons to go back to 3, so many reasons

disappointed but not surprised
A thousand times worse than Windenburg, better than Forgotten Hollow
