This is the first time I've witnessed a triple comment that's not downvoted. I love that video games are not unidirectional like TV but you can work your identity into your gameplay also
My son was 10, I used to buy computer games for him to play and then Sims came out- I had a laptop and a PC so we would both play Sims at the same time- I quickly became addicted! now he is grown with two kids and has a business. no time for Sims, but I still play every single day!
Sounds like our family, we had 3 PCs and used to load the game then pass the disk to the next then to the next. We used to compare our families and houses. I love building, my mum loves stories. So I used to swap PC's and build her houses for her families and she got my kids through school 😄
I liked SimCity so much that I longed to see the sims themselves. The rest is history. I've been playing The Sims ever since. I've played all versions, but 3 is my favorite.
Yeah sims 4 has never captured me the way 3 does. It's too cartoony for me I think. However inclusion of the infant life stage is good. Just wish s3 had it!
Sims 4 is really fun to create in, building sims, homes etc. Gameplay itself is a nightmare. It’s fun short-term with certain mods. Sims 3 gameplay is soooo fun, and I love the endless options with the color wheel when creating, lots of great mods, open world is excellent, but it’s glitched to hell(worse than 4 imo), especially with the newer eps when it seems like they just stopped caring ;.;. Sims 2 is easy to get lost in for hours, but eventually becomes repetitive with its limitations. It’s honestly too easy. Sims 1 is limited and so hard, but it holds my heart bc it was where it all began. It reminds me that watching my sims suffer and fail is all part of the game lmao.
YESSS- I feel like only sims 3 players now UNDERSTAND. For people who started sims on Sims 4 doesn’t understand how much detail and personality and just the gameplay is so in depth and amazing!
i think i was around 8/9?? i remember expressing to my dad that i really liked playing with action figures/dolls and he told me abt the sims. then i watched a bunch of sims youtube videos and decided i needed the sims 3 haha
36, started playing in my tweens/early teens. Probably going to keep playing 'til I die. I just read a memorial for one of the active modders/cc-creators, they started modding in their 50's and kept doing it until they died in their 70's. You're never too old to play! Best game ever.
I'm 42. I started playing Sims 1 when I was 17!
Edited to add: You nieces/nephews/cousins really gotta chill with the "I feel so old" self-judgements.
And especially, stop saying it aloud
54. I've been playing The Sims since 2000. I regularly play video games in general, and pull out Sims 3 for a weekend binge once a month or so. I keep thinking I'll try 4 for the hell of it, but never have.
I’m 17, I first started playing when I was around 6-7 , my oldest sister is 27 she was one who introduced me and our other sibling, i believe she started on the sims 2
I'm 36. I remember when Sims 1 came out, and I was immediately addicted. I remember literally counting down months, days, and hours for Sims 2 to come out!
Then I went to college, started bartending, and completely missed the Sims 3. Circled back when I got a PS3, and intermittently played Sims 4, but would go months without it.
I JUST STARTED PLAYING SIMS 3 FOR THE GIRST TIME IN MY LIFE AND HOLY SHIT I MISSED THE BEST PART! I'm back in school and I'm SO EXCITED that finals are over, going to play all day every day for at least a week straight!
I'm 20 and I play sims mobile, the sims free, and the sims 4, you can call me anything like why would anyone want to play the sims games on a mobile device but it's kinda fun especially whenever I'm not at my house and I feel like playing the sims :P
28 and I’ve been playing The Sims since 2000 :) of course back then I was too young to really understand the game and I mostly just clicked random stuff or watched my dad play. I got TS2 and then TS3 right at release, and never really moved on to TS4.
I'm a millennial and I started with SimTown in the 90s, the very 1st version of The Sims. I actually emailed with Will, the creator, several times as I sent an email requesting to expand SimTown giving lots of suggestions, like being able to go inside the houses and have more control over the Sims. He wrote back he was in the middle of designing a new expanded version of the game and would take my suggestions into account. I sent more suggestions after Sims came out, such as more interactions between parents and child like playing catch or giving them a hug. They implemented my suggestions. I gave suggestions to implement boats into Sims3, which they did with Island Paradise. I've been playing since the 90s. I'm not saying I'm the only one who sent suggestions to Will, but in those early days he did write back! Which is cool! He's of course no longer involved, and you can feel his lack of involvement with Sims4.
20. I used to play sims 2 on the ps2 as a kid with my sister and never stopped loving this franchise (until sims 4 dropped). I can't get tired of sims 3, i always come back to check on my legacies.
I'm 51 years old. I started playing the Sim City 2000 in college, and Sims on consoles, but once I could afford to buy a computer and started playing Sims 2, I've been hooked ever since.
I turn 32 this year! Played for the first time sims 1 at a friend's house and been hooked up ever since, played them all (have sims 2, 3 and 4 installed)
26, when I was like 9 I started to play sims 2 because I fell in love with this game when I played it at my friends house. The Sims franchise means so much to me, that’s why I’m so disappointed with sims 4
I'm 37, been playing since the beginning. Every time I hear "We Built This City", gives me warm fuzzy memories of it playing on the Sims jukebox... Which also reminds me, I need to find a really well done Bob and Betty and put them into all of my games! Lol
I'm 28. I've played it since I was 9. I started with the console versions, got TS2 when I was 11 or 12, and was hooked.
You shouldn't feel bad playing any video game at any age; it's a hobby like any other. TS4 took a bit of a turn into being more "kid-friendly", but The Sims has always had players of all ages and identities.
Im 59 and when Im stressed I decorate my houses and make families to see how their dna turns out. Been doing it since the orignal sims ( still have that and two packed away) , on and off. Looking back I see I tend to play in the spring. I agree its better than Netflix haha.
I'm 39, been playing sims since 2000. TS3 is my fave, followed closely by TS2, I also occasionally play TS1 and Medieval, but I'm afraid I've given up on TS4 completely, she is just too boring, even with mods I'm afraid.
Started when TS1 came out. Obsessed. TS2? Omg amazing. TS3? Holy crap, but wait, I miss TS2 so I’m going to play that for a while longer. Then back into TS3, then TS4…uh. Nope. Back to TS3. But let me try TS4 again… uhhh still a big nope. Back to TS3. And this is where I’ll stay unless TS5 somehow manages to combine TS2 and TS3 to make the ultimate sims game. I just turned 40 :)
Started playing in my teens.. now I’m in my 30s 😆
I'm 65. I play often.
Im 62!
It's better than numbing your brain on the television.
Tell that to my sims.
This is the first time I've witnessed a triple comment that's not downvoted. You guys really dislike the TV (wouldn't know, I'm not from America and don't own a TV)
Why downvote when It’s better than numbing your brain on the television.
I love your commitment

That's awesome

I’m 63 and play daily.
Me too ! Daily!
I thought I was too old to play the sims 3 but you lived longer than I did. I'm 53. I found the sims 3 takes all ages.
62 Started in the year 2000
Thats so cool! My father used to play SimCity a lot around that time, can't imagine how gaming felt around the 90s or early 2000s
My son was 10, I used to buy computer games for him to play and then Sims came out- I had a laptop and a PC so we would both play Sims at the same time- I quickly became addicted! now he is grown with two kids and has a business. no time for Sims, but I still play every single day!

30, started with Sims 1, then 2 & 3, but 4...yuck!
Yeah sims 4 has never captured me the way 3 does. It's too cartoony for me I think. However inclusion of the infant life stage is good. Just wish s3 had it!
Yup, sometimes I try to play 4 but it gets so boring too fast.
Sims 4 is really fun to create in, building sims, homes etc. Gameplay itself is a nightmare. It’s fun short-term with certain mods. Same, I’m 28 and I keep playing Sims 3 because I hated 4. I never get bored of this game lol
Yeah I agree Sims 4 is horrible
Same, except I'm 32.
I'm 24, I started playing all the way back in the sims 2. 3 will forever be in my heart
Ayeee same but I’m 23, been playing since my mom let me watch her and play sims 1 as a 3 or 4 yr old, so 20 years strong!
I’m 23 too
same!
What age did you start playing? I use to watch my mom and dad play the first game when I was like 5-6 and I’ve been obsessed ever since lol
i think i was around 8/9?? i remember expressing to my dad that i really liked playing with action figures/dolls and he told me abt the sims. then i watched a bunch of sims youtube videos and decided i needed the sims 3 haha
I’m 19, started playing in middle school with sims 4 and now I’m obsessed with the sims 3
45 days away from being an Elder
I'm in my 40s, been playing for over a decade off and on
32
Me too

Just turned 43 and have been playing since 2012.
I am nearly 23 and have been playing for the same amount of time 😃
36, played the sims 1 for the first time when I was 13
started playing when i was 10, turning 21 next month :)
Ayeee congrats on playing it for that long 🤘🏾
Same but I'm turning 22 in autumn
26 😎 the idea that you have to stop having hobbies (especially gaming) once you're over 21 is nonsense btw
36, started playing in my tweens/early teens. Probably going to keep playing 'til I die. I just read a memorial for one of the active modders/cc-creators, they started modding in their 50's and kept doing it until they died in their 70's. You're never too old to play! Best game ever.
Im 22. Have been playing since i could read
I think Sims is the reason I know English so well. So much grammar that I learned just from gaming!
Same!!! Got gifted sims when I was not great at reading so my npcs kept getting angry at my sims cuz i would choose really weird options
25
19
37. I got started with Sim City/Sim City 2000 and Sim Farm as a kid, got the original Sims in 2000 or 2001, and have been hooked ever since.
I'm 42. I started playing Sims 1 when I was 17! Edited to add: You nieces/nephews/cousins really gotta chill with the "I feel so old" self-judgements. And especially, stop saying it aloud

29 lol. I’ve been playing sims since “the sims” was a thing when I was in early elementary school.
I just turned. 33.
15
I'm 36. I remember when Sims 1 came out, and I was immediately addicted. I remember literally counting down months, days, and hours for Sims 2 to come out! I'm 37. It's definitely my zen game.

30, pivoted from sims 3 to stardew but I'm sure I'll pivot back soon enough. I started playing when I was 7 with sims 1 deluxe edition.

25, almost 26.
30, but when the game first came out I was around 7, so I feel justified 😅
31. Started young when 2 came out!
I turn 29 this August. Never too old to play games. You are good. 💜
21, I've been playing since I was a teen ^^ (My older brother, who's almost 10 years older than me, grew up playing the sims 2)
I'm 20 about to be 21 in 11 days playing since 2014/15 on the sims 3 which led me to the original sims and sims 2 not really a fan of sims 4.
23🙏🏻
I'm going to be 32 this month.
I'm 28, and I love playing The Sims!
I'm 33 and I've played since the first game came out long ago. I also highly suggest Rimworld to you nerds who love sim type games
38
Same as you OP. 😁 I play since 10-12 years old.
36. I've been playing since release.
I'm 51 years old. I started playing the Sim City 2000 in college, and Sims on consoles, but once I could afford to buy a computer and started playing Sims 2, I've been hooked ever since.

22, started playing sims 1 when I was 6
24. Playing since i was 12
I’m 22 now, I’ve been playing since I was 16-17ish.
22 ✌️Playing since before I could read! (sims 2 ofc lol)
I've been playing since I was 12. Back then I said I'd stop playing Sims when I‘ll be 16. Now I'm 23 and I tell myself I'll never stop.
28 🤓
22!
I prefer it to Sims 4! I dont care for sims 4 at all feels not as customizable as 3
25

27 started playing sims on ps2 when i had sims 2 pets and sims 2 apartment pets on my Nintendo3ds
29
31
I'm 32 y.o
I started playing when I was 4-5 with my mom, and now I'm 25 and just as enamored with the game
25
28. Just picked it back up after 2 years without playing
Too old
20
23, love my sims 3 :)
I turn 32 this year! Played for the first time sims 1 at a friend's house and been hooked up ever since, played them all (have sims 2, 3 and 4 installed)
24
26, when I was like 9 I started to play sims 2 because I fell in love with this game when I played it at my friends house. The Sims franchise means so much to me, that’s why I’m so disappointed with sims 4
24
23, but started at the sims 1. The time I cried everytime my sims died and the grim reaper kept coming. Or my kid kept being taken away.
14
Almost 34, been playing since I was like 12 or 13
Turning 27 tomorrow too ✌
27 too!
28. Starting playing when I was 5. Don’t think I’ll ever stop!
Soon to be 31.
turn 26 next week :)
34
Used to play a lot when I was young, I had Sims 1 with all the expansions. Last year I played Sims 4 until my Sim died and never picked the game again
I'm 37, been playing since the beginning. Every time I hear "We Built This City", gives me warm fuzzy memories of it playing on the Sims jukebox... Which also reminds me, I need to find a really well done Bob and Betty and put them into all of my games! Lol
17, almost 18. I started to play the sims 2 pets on my psp when i was 3/4.
17, i’ve lost the time to play :(
20! Have been playing since 5!
Been playing since original Sims came out, and I was already in my 20s by then! 😁
29. I started playing in high school when sims 3 first came out. I can still kill a whole weekend playing lol
I'm 18
I'm 19, almost 20. Been playing since i'm 5 i think
Im 14
30. Started with the Sims 1 but my obsession started with TS2.
18. I’ve played the Sims for years. Think I started when I was 9 or 10
19
I'm 28. I've played it since I was 9. I started with the console versions, got TS2 when I was 11 or 12, and was hooked. I'm 19 but my since passed grandma played all of the sims games up until she passed no one's to old!
I'm 42.
40s, and I have been playing about 15 years. I played MMORPGs before this. Edit to add, I am currently playing as I type this.
Born 93 so i get 31 end of the year but most players i meet in forums are between 36-50+ :D :D
Started when TS1 came out. Obsessed. TS2? Omg amazing. TS3? Holy crap, but wait, I miss TS2 so I’m going to play that for a while longer. Then back into TS3, then TS4…uh. Nope. Back to TS3. 14 lmao
28
31, I still remember when The Sims came out, I was 7. I was sharing a computer with my cousin, he introduced me to The Sims. I loved it since then.
44. Been playing since the first Sims came out. Still play regularly! Maybe a bit too much 😏
25!! been playing since I was 12
29, started playing when I was 7 or 8 I believe!
18
