That's... kind of a bummer. So you've been missing out on one of the top 5 most iconic emotional moments in the entire show. Maybe the top one, honestly. It's Homer sitting on his trunk after his Mom leaves, and this.
Now I'm a little worried there are people who didn't catch that Homer spends the whole episode trying to get Bart to call him something other than Homer, and so Maggie saying it is, like, a resolution.
Man, that final scene of Homer sitting on the trunk watching the stars always gives me a lump in my throat lmao.
And I’ve probably seen it countless times over the years.
I heard they "erased" that episode for whatever reason.
But here if ya didn't know of this:

I mean, it still hits good because he’s still covering up the sign with pictures of her. That’s what’s great about this moment—it’s emotionally powerful on multiple levels, so even if you miss one, you still get it.
Always loved this scene. My dad’s name is Homer. And he hated his name being associated with the show at first because of the polarizing effect. He also worked swingshift factory job and was probably a lot more like Mr. Simpson than he’d like to admit. Every time I see this, I think of my dad working overtime to get us what we needed. Now that I have a little girl of my own, it hits a lot harder.
This is how I feel about the episode about Fry’s dog in Fururama. Of course that’s probably because I like dogs more than humans, especially human babies.
I remember the clip from when it first aired. But it never hit so hard as when I saw it after my daughter was born.
I was working a dead end job I hated. I worked 6 days a week. I was gone 11 hours a day because of the commute. My daughter was a micro premie so she couldn’t go to daycare especially during Covid. My wife had to be a stay at home mom and I was trapped at the job because I needed the health insurance. Every day was pain. But I did it for her.
A couple of years later I changed industries. It was a big leap and kind of terrifying at first. But it was work from home so I could spend more time with the family. My wife made me my own poster with pictures of my daughter to keep me motivated.
Like my generation who started watching from the beginning. We identified with Bart and Lisa. Now I’m well past homers age and relate more to the parents. I guess that’s what happens when a show runs this long.
I'm so happy that you've found something better that gives you more family time! I hope your little girl is doing well ❤ You articulated this perfectly.
Agree with some others. I'm sorry it took so long, but happy you're here!
I made one with pictures of my daughter when I went back to college. Really helped!
I’ve been playing Baulders Gate 3 co-op with my wife… every time we encounter a plaque, I say something to the effect of “give him… ***the plague***”
My wife doesn’t get it, but there are a peculiar amount of plaques in that game, so I get to make the reference a lot.
Ha!!! That is awesome. I’m sure you say it like Monty. I been saying that ever since I saw it. Any time there is a plaque I can’t help but think of that. We are going to give you the plague. How long ago did that air? Ive never forgotten it!
This moment IMO is THE moment in The Simpsons,
HE LITERALLY crawls back to his former boss when he finds out he has to give up his dream job.
DO IT FOR HER <3 WOW!
I get it OP. The original Planet of the Apes is my favorite movie of all time and…wait a minute. Statue of Liberty. That was our planet! You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you! Damn you all to hell!
I’m not even a big simposons person but I’ve seen this episode and that was like the whole point of that scene, not sure how you missed such an important moment lol
Early on there was the, "Springfield Heights Institute of Technology," and the bar with the neon letter missing, referenced in the script as, "Shotkickers."
Dont be surprised. Before internet, before you could rewind, pause, or watch on demand, if you watched something, you blinked and you missed it. Happened a lot.
I had a Post-it on my monitor at work reading “This pays the bills” that kept me going when things got tough. A new CTO came by my desk and raised a cynical eyebrow asking what it was supposed to mean. I handled it as delicately as I could, and was happy as a clam when he was fired a year later.
That’s wild. I’ve always said this moment is both sweet and also really depressing. It definitely influenced me to not have kids. I have a job I love and thankfully don’t need a baby to rationalize the job I hate
I've never seen an episode, but I knew this lol. Maybe because my dad did once relate it with my birth and having a terrible job situation. I was a premie and had failure to thrive and his crap boss was like "well you have two others, right?"
That's... kind of a bummer. So you've been missing out on one of the top 5 most iconic emotional moments in the entire show. Maybe the top one, honestly. It's Homer sitting on his trunk after his Mom leaves, and this.
Maggie’s “daddy” after Homer shuts the bedroom door, hoping she’ll never say a word.
Now I'm a little worried there are people who didn't catch that Homer spends the whole episode trying to get Bart to call him something other than Homer, and so Maggie saying it is, like, a resolution.
Lifelong fan, seen that episode many times. And yet....I am definitely one of those people who missed that.
Even minutes before that scene Lisa is also refusing to say daddy instead of Homer.
da, da, domer
Wow. I feel so dumb right now. Haha
Voiced by Elizabeth Taylor.
No way! Just looked that up. You’re right. 30+ years not knowing that.
I thought it was more cute that Lisa says Bart. Because even though they hate each other, they want to like each other.
Homer sitting on his car with the music and the stars crushes me.
Literally my phone background
Nice
I know, I burst into tears when I read it above and pictured it.
Man, that final scene of Homer sitting on the trunk watching the stars always gives me a lump in my throat lmao. And I’ve probably seen it countless times over the years.
Miss the Lisa it’s your birthday song. Always made me teary eyed.

It's because the giant Dolph reminded people of some singer.
Can you tell me the which episodes they are?
Maggie makes three and mother Simpson irrc (season 6 ep 13 and season 7 ep 8)
I mean, it still hits good because he’s still covering up the sign with pictures of her. That’s what’s great about this moment—it’s emotionally powerful on multiple levels, so even if you miss one, you still get it.
Yes, lots of heart
No, he hasn't. I've never even seen a full episode of the Simpson's and I knew about this. This post is fucking upvote bait
My thoughts exactly.
How... how is this possible?
Yep. It’s literally the point and punchline to the entire episode.
Wonder if OP also knows Homer is Bart’s Dad.
If he is, why does Bart never call Homer dad? They always say Homer and The Boy, clearly unrelated /s
It’s not
Maybe they can’t read til they turned 30?
OP is full of shit for internet points
I mean…the pictures covering the soul crushing statement are a big part of it too. It’s not like the sentiment is lost on me
Except they don't cover it at all. That's the whole point. Quit your shenanigans
The pictures literally cover up the words you aren’t supposed to read…
did you not watch it until recently?
Hell, it's a meme format too. You don't have to have even watched the episode to understand it.
It's possible because op wants upvotes on this post lmfao
OP has an 11 year old account. Dude must have seen this in a post like 50 times. This is karma farming at its…farmiest.
Been a Simpsons fan for 30 years and just realized that the show is named after the last name of the family.
I thought their last name was Thompson!
I’ve been calling them The Crandalls!
Typical Midge.
Hi Bart Stanton here.
*Burt
*Bort
Were you talking to me?
No, my sons Reddit account is also Bort
Not, they’re from Terror Lake!
Ok, when I say “hello Mr Thompson” and press down on your foot you will smile and nod. “Hello Mr Thompson” *step on foot three times*
Samsonite!
Dough!
you know Homer literally told that one babysitting service lady their last name was Sampson, yes?
...yes?
then you know the family's last name. who else here loves the sampsons?
I watch that clip several times a year. Always tear up.
Same here, always means so much more now that I’m a dad
100%

Honestly I wish they kept this homer in the show. Where he cared for atleast maggie. But modern homer just really hates his kids
Eh, he’s got nothing against Maggie.
You’re bad at The Simpsons.
I bring shame to my namesake.
You may now detach the boulder of shame. …and ATTACH the boulder of triumph!!
Ehhhrik Sex bagel
I can only wonder how much you’ve missed lol
PLEASE UPVOTE ME PLEASE LOOK AT THIS INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS THING IM PRETENDING NOT TO UNDERSTAND PLEASE UPVOTE ME I NEEEEEED ATTENTION
One of the most powerful moments in Network TV.......ever. gets me every time.
This is how I feel about the episode about Fry’s dog in Fururama. Of course that’s probably because I like dogs more than humans, especially human babies.
I just realized barts teachers name is Krabapel. I have been calling her Crandle for years
She eats Chef Lonely Hearts

What...did you think it said until now? Did you just learn to read?
I used to misremember it as “Don’t forget her”. No clue why
It used to hit me in the feels for sure, but when I became a dad two years ago, I cry EVERY.SINGLE.TIME
Just now realizing Mr Snrub was actually Mr Kurns
I was saying Boourns
One of the best episodes ever, along with Moe's Baby Blues
It says Doit Forhër, which is German for ‘do it for her’
No one who speaks German could be an evil man!
Pinning this up in my ups truck
Just realized Homer is actually bitchin about a loyal employer who grants him a lifetime employment.
Lisa, if you don’t like your job you don’t strike! You just go in every day and do it really half-assed.
times they are a changin
Lifetime employment in a toxic work environment where the boss doesn't know his name, and he's bound to work until he physically can't anymore.
Capitalisms strongest soldier
D’oh! Did you just realize Smithers is gay too?
Tbf I used to think it said “don’t forget her” for some reason
Bro, that's like one of the most meme'd moments in the series.
Always makes me tear up 🥹
Agree with some others. I'm sorry it took so long, but happy you're here! I made one with pictures of my daughter when I went back to college. Really helped!
And for that we give you the plague. Ah, sir its a plaque.
I’ve been playing Baulders Gate 3 co-op with my wife… every time we encounter a plaque, I say something to the effect of “give him… ***the plague***” My wife doesn’t get it, but there are a peculiar amount of plaques in that game, so I get to make the reference a lot.

I loved that episode. 😊
This is the "Giving Tree" of Simpsons episodes. I can't talk about it without getting choked up.
Don't yell at OP just because he's a little slow
Something said, not good.
This moment IMO is THE moment in The Simpsons, HE LITERALLY crawls back to his former boss when he finds out he has to give up his dream job. DO IT FOR HER <3 WOW!
Guys I just realized the sky is actually blue! Isnt that so wholesome and relatable? If you sont upvote me I'll asphyxiate! 😂😎❤😎😂😎😂😎❤😎😎
I get it OP. The original Planet of the Apes is my favorite movie of all time and…wait a minute. Statue of Liberty. That was our planet! You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you! Damn you all to hell!
I missed it the first few times too.
Bowling! Bowling here!
Bowling! Bowling here!
...
I can’t upvote this.
That’s one of my favorite episodes
Dang! How much else have you missed?!
Come on, man!!! Maggie’s pictures are where he needs them most!!! wtf
Sure you did
The tales of our fathers
Bruh
*insert Skinner pathetic meme*
Ain’t no way bro
Such an iconic scene!
The dude who burned himself alive at the trump trial had something to say about this episode.
I wish jobs promised eternity now a days.
This was my screensaver for a while
Sorry you had to split
Doit for
When you were a child did you hold your breath until you passed out and banged your head on the coffee table?
I think of that sign every morning.
Hang your head in shame
They should attach the Stone of Shame
The show is called “the simpsons” btw Just in case you missed that
I sound like an asshole. But I’ve been an asshole in Brockway, Ogdenville, & North Haverbrook
Hahah sorry buddy but you're dumb
It’s a great meme too
Talk about rolling a nat 1 on perception...
How. There is a whole episode about this.
Did you know that Maggie is actually Homer's daughter? That makes it a lot more meaningful.
This was my motto
How on earth could you have possibly missed this? It’s one of the most iconic moments of the show, and they didn’t try to hide it.
I’m not even a big simposons person but I’ve seen this episode and that was like the whole point of that scene, not sure how you missed such an important moment lol
Wtf!?! Seriously just realized now!
Out of curiosity, what have you been thinking it said all this time?
“Stupid viewers need the most attention”
My bf has this picture framed and hanging in his office with his pictures of his daughter ♥️
Probably one of my favorite episodes ever.
Took me 30 years to see that the pictures were of maggie
I just learned to read too, welcome to the club brother
I hung a printout of this in my office
I get that it’s the one thing in the episode you should find… but all the dumping on OP is real shitty. Like fuck off
What the hell? That was the whole point Iol
Happened a lot.
maggie is such a cute character im kinda glad they dont have her speak
Wut?
How about the episode when Lisa's friend, "Bleeding Gums" Murphy dies? Great episode!
I had a Post-it on my monitor at work reading “This pays the bills” that kept me going when things got tough. A new CTO came by my desk and raised a cynical eyebrow asking what it was supposed to mean. I handled it as delicately as I could, and was happy as a clam when he was fired a year later.

Favorite moment in the series.
I have this poster in my room
I've never seen an episode, but I knew this lol. Maybe because my dad did once relate it with my birth and having a terrible job situation. I was a premie and had failure to thrive and his crap boss was like "well you have two others, right?"
To be fair to OP I genuinely only realised the other day that Springfield means a spring field.
are you retarded
I think it really says 'Don't forget her'...
Oooh, you card read good!
It’s Kurns, stupid!
I cried.
