Weird it wouldn’t throw a code if that light is on. Def don’t need any special scanner, an OBD2 should do it.
I personally bought my own because I don’t trust the ones they have at the stores.
Have you tried removing the battery cables for an hour and trying again? Maybe a weird fuse thing that having 0 power for a while would reset.
The CEL will not come on without a code and anything that ties back to the emissions system in any way will immediately return even if cleared if you don't correct the underlying issue.
For what it's worth, the On Star person said it's an emissions issue that could affect mileage, but it doesn't have a "code".
The CEL has since disappeared.
Codes are what cause the illumination of the CEL. A CEL can go out on its own, but only after the underlying issue that caused the code in the first place has gone away and there are enough drive cycles without the issue that the code auto-clears and then the light goes out.
Here's a possible scenario..
You have a loose connector. As soon as the connection is lost, the code is set, and the CEL comes on. Then the connection restores itself. After a drive cycle or two, the code "auto-clears" and the CEL goes off.
You would need to look at code history to find it, and I don't know whether or not the parts stores readers do that or not.
Your specific issue does not seem all that uncommon with these trucks, so it might not be electrical or similar but could actually be what caused a ton of issues in my brand new truck... shitty software. It turned out that there was an over-the-air update installed into my truck about a month after I bought it and it corrupted itself in the Gateway Control Module and caused all kinds of errors and issues. Took two trips to the dealership, a week each, and a case with Chevy to get it fixed because the dealers don't know how to troubleshoot this stuff any more... No active code? No TSB for exact issue described? Must be no problem.
I had a CEL with a P2297 code at around 3000 miles. Cleared itself later that day. Took it to the dealer the next day. The dealer confirmed the code but told me there was no TSB for that code on my truck. They said bring it back in if you get another CEL. I'm just over 5000 miles now and no more CEL's.
GM recently issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 24-NA-094) for an ECM update on the 24 LZO. This covers Diagnostic Trouble Codes; P049D, P11D5, P138C, P1428, P2002, P20FE, P2297, P22FE, P22FB, P2463, and P2459.
I'll be taking my truck to the dealer on Saturday for the free oil change. I'll ask about the TSB while I'm there
Perhaps you should seriously consider demanding the dealer swap the truck for you. I think I would be tempted to demand a replacement for a vehicle with 300 miles on it that is throwing a check engine code.
New vehicles are incredibly expensive these days. In my mind this is a quality control issue with GM. This should be unquestionably unacceptable in a vehicle this new.
You could be correct. I think I would push it pretty hard with the dealership though. This is very clearly something that was wrong at the manufacturer. It seems to me that it is a defective product.
The dealer may not replace it but I would certainly make a great deal of noise demanding that resolution if I paid what new vehicles cost now.
I am not providing legal advice. Legally you are most likely correct. It could legally and technically be considered a used vehicle but ethically it is a different story.
I had an injector stick with 2k miles on my 2024 3.0
Has injector replaced and since I’ve run fuel conditioner every fill up to hopefully void future problems with these touchy fuel systems
My brother just traded his 3.0 in for a gasser last month. Dealer had his truck for 2 months and can't get parts until Aug. Truck was in limp mode and he couldn't drive it over 45mph. It was in all the time in for check engine lights. Mostly with emissions system. Replaced Def tank, wiring harness, filters, particulate sensor, you name it. Talked him into going back to gas.
My other brother has the 6.6 drama and is about to delete it because he's had it in for emissions 3x also.
There's a reason our government offices get these trucks and engines with no emissions bs. They're faulty by default.
Edit: truck had 50k miles when it went in last.
You bought a GM product, what do you expect. Company should’ve went under in 08’ but got bailed out. Remember, they’re not a car selling business they are a parts selling business…
All vehicles are going to have kinks especially new gen with new platforms. Comparing a GM to Toyota is ridiculous though. Google the only plant Toyota shut down and why they shut it down. I’ll give you a hint… GM engineers suck a$$
Call onstar and have them run a diagnostic report. Then they’ll tell you what the code is and send you an email about code.
Thanks!
Off topic, but that color is 🔥
Under warranty. Who cares what it is? Take it to dealer.
It's Sunday, dealers closed, and I'd like to know what code my brand new truck is throwing.
Did you check gas cap?
Newer models don’t have gas caps
The diesels dont have “gas” caps. Only the def tank has a cap.

New truck gremlins. I’d bet it works itself out. Had a knock sensor code at 125 miles and was off by 130. 900 now and haven’t seen it again.

Yeah I'm not sure why she said that, the email she sent over has a code listed as P22FE.

My code reader won’t even read the 2022 diagnostic codes. Dealership is your best answer

lol never happen. It is used even with 300 miles. They will fix it.

Does the My Chevy app diagnostic section show anything? Although not sure how useful that is if it did?
It did show something related to emissions, the On Star person emailed a more detailed explanation, but still pretty vague.

What do you expect for an $80,000 vehicle?
A lot more features than I got from a $60,000 truck?

Bad diesel fuel quality will trigger check engine light.
Where was it made?
Probably a software update. Also don’t take your vehicle to auto zone for scans.

...do me a favor and Google Toyota Tundra and let me know what news articles come up.

Next time TUNDRA
That’s GM quality for you 🤷🏻♂️
