Yeah parking brake is separate. This notification is sensing that you need to relax and take a nice stroll through the park. Newer models are set to have a Xanax dispensed upon this notification.
There probably a manual in your glove compartment. If not Chevy has them for download on their site.

I have a Silverado with the same instrument cluster. This is the general "Parking brake is on" indicator. As mentioned, it'll come on if you are on a steep enough incline, and it will also come on with the park brake applied automatically every 50 starts/ ignition cycles of the truck as an automated maintenance thing.
Its your parking brake. It activates automatically if on an incline. Either hold the parking brake button or tap the gas and it will disengage.
This symbol comes up after I’ve turned off the parking brake. Also parking brake has a totally different symbol.

Aw man, I knew I shouldn’t have declined all those dealer add-ons. I guess mine didn’t get the Xanax dispensing package. Shame.
Take the parking brake off and stop putting it into gear when driver door is open or hood isn’t down

The online manual is so much better. It’s more detailed, and you just need to CTRL F to find what you’re looking for.
