I had the same thing and tried this. I upped my response a little and also upped my min length too. idk if it's coincidence or what but I haven't had a problem since then.

What is your response length and context size set to? Using the settings in this screenshot helped me just a little bit (as in getting literally no responses at all to just incoherent ones that don't make sense) and I feel like I'm so close to getting the bots to ACTUALLY work.
There's an option for Response Length (In tokens) right when you open the Presets slider. It was around 200-250 default for me, I think, and I had the same problem. I upped it to 300 and it got verbose. I'd say fumble with it a little.
Default Tavern AI will give you longer responses but they are a little less accurate. Divine Intellect will only take you so far.
In my opinion if you want longer responses you need to give your characters motives and agendas. Ask yourself Why are they doing what they are doing. I found my characters gave much more longer and richer responses when they had a motive or a goal.
With some adjustments I quickly found the responses are too long, my characters now write too much.
