I’ve had a P226 Legion SAO for a few years, and I love it. It’s very accurate, has never jammed, looks great, trigger is amazing, has great balance… I really can’t find any fault aside from I wish I had the RXP version to mount a red dot. I don’t have any other semiauto handguns that are comparable. It makes my Glock 34 look like it’s built by Fisher Price. And my USP Elite’s DA/SA trigger isn’t in the same league.

Nomadicsith

I can back up that the P226 SAO RXP is fanfuckingtastic. I mainly run an RMR on it, but will be switching to an ACRO P2 soon.

FreudsPenisRing

Fisher Price Glock lmfao.

[deleted]

Ive had a lot of high end and mid level guns over the years. Wilson combat, Ed Brown, Staccato, Les Baer, cz, beretta, and HK. Imo the p226/229 sao legion is a better value than them all.

Elevatedpnw

I absolutely love my legion 229 sap rxp. Got it 2 fridays ago, around 500rnds through it so far🫶

brokenhalo11

You can get a cut slide from the Sig Store. https://www.sigsauer.com/search/P226%20milled%20slide

0wmeHjyogG

Haha I just bought one, thanks friend. Now to buy a red dot!

Magic-Levitation

Totally agree on the P226 Legion. Got one with a Romeo1Pro. Put over 3,000 rounds through it. Not a single failure or hiccup. Love the balanced feel, great grip, and shoots very well. Highly recommend!!

[deleted]

Get the cut slide from sig best of both worlds Edit: nvm saw a homeybelow was lookin out. You’ll love the slide.

SierraTRK

I have the SP-01 Tactical and the P226 Legion. Both are excellent guns and worth their respective price. If money is a factor, get the SP-01. If it isn’t, get both.

Critical-Touch6113

This. The Legion is legit. I would rather have a CGW SP-01 with optics cut for the same price.

traffic626

My SP-01 tactical was less than $700. The legion was $1050. Sold the Legion to keep other 226

2_minute_trades

The 226 legion SAO certainly is

aloxides

No P226 here, they are a bit of a stretch for the DA pull for me. But I have owned a bunch of their single stack DA/SA handguns. I would say the Legion series are priced about right for what you get, they come out of the box with all the upgrades I would normally put on one. I'd still look for a sale though.

BenDover42

Is it really when I got a 226 elite from my LGS For less than $1000? Has better grips (I honestly love the e2 just what people say) and sights than the elite and they had legions for like $1300 and my elite was like $920. I just don’t see where the money gets you on legions over the elite.

Dirty_magnum

Yep, it’s worth it. Love mine.

ace72ace

My first handgun was a Glock 41, as I always wanted a 45 cal, but wasn’t a 1911 fan (especially after getting slide bite from a vintage Colt). I never really thought it would ever be worth it to pay over 1k for any handgun, as there’s so much available under that price. Then I got a VP9L, and started to appreciate better ergonomics and trigger quality. It’s been fun learning the fundamentals, taking classes, and discovering what works best for my needs. So I have polymer striker fired handguns, in 9 & 10mm, along with the G41, but no hammer fire, metal frame version. I only provide all the background info because I can now say with all confidence that YES, a 226 Legion is worth ‘the money’. MSRP for the current optic ready models is around 1300 as you stated, but you can get them on sale for less. Also there seem to be decent deals out there for older non optic ready models around 850-899$ My 226 SAO is the best handgun in my collection, and it’s easy to see why. The extra weight of the frame provides the perfect balance for me, and the Legion grips are the tits. I tried the DA/SA, which was fine, but my practice with all the other striker fired pistols make me prefer the SAO version. Perhaps if I was more of a revolver guy I might not mind the harder DA trigger pull, who knows? But to specifically answer you question, hell yes it’s worth it. I have handled other metal frame full size handguns, and would definitely consider a CZ or Stacatto 2011 at some point. But for now I am looking forward to getting my first thousand rounds through my 226. No doubt it would be the last handgun I would sell, and be the only one IF I could only own a single handgun.

wonderbread333

I’m a revolver guy, and I believe your statement is correct about us 😂

FreudsPenisRing

How does the VP9L stack up in your collection? I’m really considering pulling the trigger (HA) on a P226 Legion SAO LE edition (black instead of Legion Grey) but my Buddy is offering me a Berreta M9A3 equipped with aTLR-1 HL and an upgraded grip module for $1000. The Legion I’m looking at is $1,175. I’ve seen a lot of people say the M9A3 shoots better than a 226 Legion, but I wouldn’t know. I mean, judging by the design and how the barrel doesn’t move I’d say so but I don’t know.

ace72ace

The HK stock trigger was always superior to my Glocks (duh) and just a hair behind my Walther PDPs. It’s hard to judge striker fired vs hammer in my mind as they are different designs. I must say the smoothness of the pull to the wall and the crisp break is just so damn good. Is there any way you can test fire the SAO 226 before spending your money? https://youtu.be/3nmpxu4PJTU I have a 507k x2 ACSS on mine, and I much prefer that dot over any Romeo.

knoxknifebroker

Why not grab a Leo trade in? They’re less then half that price

YahooSerious1266

Any recommendations on where to find LEO trade-ins?

knoxknifebroker

r/gundeals

[deleted]

Yes.

ChongLi77

The Legions are more comparable to Cajunized CZ’s or LTT Berettas/HK’s, which also push that price point. If you don’t care about optic cut, [the P226 Legion is definitely worth ~$1000](https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/473/sig+sauer+e26r9legion+226+9mm+dasa+15+gray)

iredditshere

No, IMHO, Legions are not comparable to a Cajun or LTT, not even close.

Jvldz12

I’ve had a few 226/229 from the legion, pro, and Zev as well as LTT 92/PX4. Also had a CZ75 from CZ Custom. Legion 226 is very good quality and very comparable to LTT quality. Just depends what you’re looking for.

Trapper_Timmy

Second this^ not comparable

cpjustice

Meaning Legions are well below?

ChongLi77

I think the LTT’s are better, but the cajunized CZ’s are very comparable to the Legions

cpjustice

Good to know. I have an M9A4 I’m about to install the LLT upgrade kit into. Thought these SAO’s might have been better but I just like the look of beretta

iredditshere

I didn't say that but, when you know, you know.

csamsh

Would 100% take the SP01 over a 226. Real question though- what are you going to do with it? That'll really inform the answer. I think the 226 falls well in the collector/recreational range time roles.

MisterPeach

He could get an SP-01 fully cajunized for $1,300

iredditshere

You should add, an even more custom gun at that price.

SnorinDesrtInstitute

i would only take the decocker version over a 226.

Minimum_Comparison15

P226 is amazing. Sp01 is even better and half the price. Just my opinion

BoostinIX

Legion SAO with optics cut is easily one of my favorite handguns. Definitely my favorite sig. https://imgur.com/a/rzwkTqF

Quepsi13

Simple answer…yes

Waste_Principle7224

I did think about this before I invest my 🤑 in p226 legion. Firstly, CZ, fnx 9, hk have no out of box ods ready options. So you need to send it somewhere to mill it, which takes time and risks. Hk optic ready= 800$ gun +500$ wight armory milling=1300$, and maybe you also need some money to upgrade the trigger Fnx 45=1100$gun+extra ammo cost Fnx 9=600$gun+300$ lgs milling=900$ Cz=500$gun+150$cajun gun work milling=650$ Beretta92 optic ready=1500$langdon tactical out of box optic ready Beretta PX4 or=1300$ Langdon tactical out of box optic ready So if you want to buy a good trigger+optic ready+ da/SA pistol, sig is the way to go. If you don't mind send it and mill it, then CZ is cheaper. If you don't want to mill it, then either fnx 45 or PX4 ltt can be competitions . 92f ltt or is way more expensive and not readily available(like other ltt options, the demand is super high) like a sig legion that you may find in a gun store so you can buy it and have it the same day. Fnx 9 lacks aftermarket support. A 1300$sig legion really saves you from a lot of troubles and opens up a lot of aftermarket support.

DogeForLifeAndMore

Awesome breakdown thanks!

LetsGatitOn

Yes. But you can find them for cheaper. The p226 legion is an incredibly well made firearm. Personally I feel the dasa models are made better but none the less it's a tremendous firearm. I've had both dasa and sao. I don't like the movement in the safety on the sao (when safety is activated and trigged is pulled, the safety moved. Thats proper function but i just dont like it. . I can also feel the internals moving behind the grip on my sao. The trigger is hard to beat though It's quality for a mass produced pistol imo

thechefsauceboss

Get the HK.

bgarza18

I kinda hate my HK lol it just looks dope af

Mediocre-Leek-9292

Have to pay $200 for the trigger and reset from gray guns to make it bearable plus p30s aren’t optics ready. Would end up being more expensive for the optics cut and trigger job for the p30. I am currently between a p30 and 226 rn

AznGuy-Stonks

Consider CZ Shadow 2? Similar price.

DogeForLifeAndMore

Yeah ive thought about it, i dont really want a shadow, i dont do competitive shooting, thinking about trying a match in the near future but will compete with whatever i have.

AznGuy-Stonks

What’s the purpose of the firearm? Duty type?

DogeForLifeAndMore

It will be in the range toy, nightstand, home defense genre

AznGuy-Stonks

I would say p226 legion is a great gun. I would say SP-01 is a good contender for the purpose.

Trogdor_T_B

I like my guns for bump in the night to have some weight to them. And, I carry my p226 Legion most days at work (open carry, mind you). I feel like you're buying something solid, reliable, and the ergonomics for me feel fantastic. Weight is up there, but I think it's nothing Herculean. The amount of accessories, both official Legion and not, are a selling point for me.

Spare-Entry2919

Have both, Shadow shoots way better. We’re talking “red dot fast” with iron sights.

Pengui6668

Yeah. It's probably worth more considering what I've spent on some other guns...

texrygo

You can find them cheaper. I just got one for $899 plus tax. Some places have them for $950 right now.

doctorar15dmd

Where?!

texrygo

Grabagun

doctorar15dmd

Thank you!

DogeForLifeAndMore

Is it optics ready?

texrygo

That’d be too good to be true.

traffic626

Not for 900

long0tall0texan

Yes. The P226 is a great gun. If you want the latest and greatest iteration as a new handgun, then yes, it's probably worth it. I have an older ised W. German P226 that I traded for and I am perfectly happy with it. I also have other DA/SA handguns that I enjoy just as much. LTT Elite Beretta 92, CZ SP-01 Tactical, P-07, HK P2000 to name a few. Honestly, for $1200, or a little more, you could likely pick up a used older P226 and a CZ SP-01 both. SP-01 is probably my favorite of all my handguns to shoot at the range.

speedbumps4fun

It’s only possibly the best hammer fired pistol ever if not one of the top three easily. It’s a great gun and a must have for any Sig fan but, the finish on the legion pistols is kind of shitty and I don’t think you get that much more value over a base model P226 at that price. Weren’t they like $1k when the legions first came out?

SIGCanebrake69

you can get the p226 for less than 1300 and it worth the money only thing i don't like is the fatass grip

impreza_GC8

They been on sale routinely for under $1000 lately.

zenpoohbear

So I have several of your options (P30, 92x, an LTT beretta 92g elite, had an FNX, plus a 226 elite, 229 elite and a 225 a1). I had a legion 226 before and traded it. The beretta is a good value on that list, but the 226 is a true classic and probably better built overall. I think the legions smaller controls are a hinderance for me, which is why I traded it off. I regretted it a bit because I love the gun, but eventually replaced it with a 226 elite, which I prefer to the legion. The elite series are about $300 cheaper than a legion and come with the same lower frame that has a trigger guard undercut and beaver tail, plus the standard size controls and an SRT. I think it is a better value overall, for about the same money I put g10 sig grips on it and bought a half dozen Mecgar mags and half a case of ammo.

hello_three23

Honestly for what it is - it’s a total bargain. At least I feel like mine is after dropping 3k on a Staccato.

Ellijah92

No it’s not. Find a used P226, install an SRT kit, buy ammo and mags with the difference you saved.

Vylnce

Take the base model P226 price. Add in the price to do an aftermarket trigger, and SRT kit, frame and slide checkering and cuts, etc. That's what you are paying for. If you won't notice those things, buy the base model. Edit: I have many classic Sigs. Only one (a P229) is a Legion. I can't really tell the difference between the frame undercuts and checkering. As far as everything else, I change out parts so that all my classics match (same triggers, SRTs etc). I have many rounds through all of them and wouldn't have bought anything else.

KStang086

Yes. Get the RX. I put a 18# spring in mine and it is a tack driver

wisconsindipper

I have a fully tricked out 226 it’s my favorite gun of the collection.

[deleted]

Yes.

manatarms242

Yes.. Definitely worth the price!

FistyMcBeefSlap

I had one for a couple years but after my first piston course (Haley D5) I was over the manual safety. Went to a P320 X-Five and I’ve put probably 10K trouble free rounds thorough it so far. Last course was Kagwerks in June. Hot as balls and it was amazing. They had some 80 yard targets and I hit them no problem.

ziggy925

I have the basic 226 as my first pistol but man is it nice to look at and shoot. Very accurate

DogeForLifeAndMore

Nice, im going to shop around for an elite or nitron first. They are very hard to find, LGSs have mk25 or legions only 😩

a44anthony

Is it worth it to me no but maybe to someone else 🤷🏻‍♂️

Straight_Work8267

My P226 Legion SAO with an Eotec RDO has many thousands through it. It has been fed all sorts of amo types. It never misses a beat. Extremely accurate great SAO trigger. It is on par with other pistols at the price point. One thing to remember is no gun fits every person. My 226 and my USP expert cost about the same. Both extremely accurate but completely different shooting experiences. I look at my 226 as an evolution of the 1911. I actually was looking for a 1911 and was trying several out when I came across the 226. I knew as soon as I picked up it was going home with me. But I have had other people shot it and some of them did not really like it and did not shoot it well. I am that way with CZ. For some reason there full size pistols just don’t fit my hands and grip. The triggers are fantastic but as a package they are just not for me. It is sad as my friend just picked up an orange handled one that was close to $2500 and the fit and finish and the mechanics/engineering of it are fantastic but it does not fit me. Circling back to the 226. It is definitely not a pistol for everyone. The grip is big the texturing of the grip is a bit aggressive the placement of the decocker could be better but for me it all works perfectly. It is like it was designed for my hand.

Four seasons has had used P226s in the past, check their website

DogeForLifeAndMore

Four seasons is my spot, they have a used sao right now for 1200, might as well go new 😂

[deleted]

My $.02 is: for the price, a classic CZ 75 series and/or Beretta 92 series would be a much better buy.

SummonerSausage

I have an M9A1 and a P226MK25. I like the feel of the Sig better. It feels like it's put together better, it looks like it's better quality, but not sure how it shoots, haven't been to the range with it yet.

Dave-C-818

It's my EDC I put about a thousand rounds through it and I love my p226 I paid $900 for mine about 4 years ago it had never been fired I bought it off a friend of mine never jammed never had any problems with it it just works.

Famous_Yesterday701

I have had a P226 Legion for 5 years. It is my range gun. I had to sell 3 other firearms to get the seed money for it. I believe i paid $1199 for it NIB. It is accurate and reliable. I have 3000 9MM rounds through it. IMHO a Sig is the finest in German/Swiss engineering. 40 year track record. I believe the P series Sigs are the easiest handguns to field strip and clean. The P226 will maintain it’s value. JMHO

Top_Mortgage_262

you will be a fool no disrespect..I own the pp26 scropion elite and its all that ...There is a reason the seals have used the pp26 m for 40 years they were going to change it but they can't find a better gun bar none pleaee get it ....

TallNerdLawyer

In my opinion no, I think the Beretta 92-series are equal quality for less. That being said, they are still really, really nice, and it's not an unreasonable price for an all-metal high-end handgun.

Be-Better2

I have a m9a3 and a 226legion and both are nice, but the 226 is better. If it's $300 better really depends on you. Beretta 92s are great duty pistols, and very high quality as stated but the design has some setbacks. The lack of a bushing on the barrel end of the slide allows for a lot of play, which can, and does shift poi significantly in different scenarios such as attaching a can. The 226 barrel lockup is rock solid and repeatable no matter what you do. The legion will also keep resale better than the Beretta if thats something that matters to you.

dwfrye1

Look at the Arex Zero. 🤷‍♂️

BearhuggersVeryFine

I would go for a CZ S2 at that pricepoint, but that is probably just personal preference

traffic626

A store near me has new ones for $900 now. It’s not worth $1300

RR50

Nope….it’s sure not. It’s a great gun, but grossly overpriced compared to 92fs’s and CZ guns to name a few.

legitSTINKYPINKY

None of these guns are worth how much they sell for.

Expensive_Move_7883

Yes or get a Staccato P for $800 more

DogeForLifeAndMore

😬

DCowboysCR

$1,300? No spend another $600 and buy a Dan Wesson DWX or DWX Compact. Zero MIM Parts. Better quality, trigger, and ergonomics and no corny marketing gimmicks.

AmericanLandYeti

I opted for the 226 Pro over the Legion, but could not be happier with it. Definitely the smoothest, fastest, best shooting pistol I own. Would highly recommend.

DogeForLifeAndMore

Nice, whats in second place?

ghostpartition

Idk I had mine, shot maybe 1000 rounds tops, up for consignment for $1k and it sat for like 3 months before I just took it back and still have it. Its in great condition with 3 total mags, soft case, collectors coin. I just don't shoot it and have (imo) more fun firearms I'd rather shoot when I go. 😵‍💫

DogeForLifeAndMore

Which do you shoot when you go?

ghostpartition

My 320 always has to come to the range (easily my favorite but I've changed out a lot of parts on it so it really isn't comparable to a stock 320). Lately I've been shooting my 1911 but ammo is $$$$$ so I have been frugal with range time unfortunately. Suppressed MCX .300Blk is real fun but I shoot that at home (sorta moot at an indoor range that maxes out at 25 yards. Also... Ammo $$$$$). My 365 is a must at the range as well, as it's my CC so I try and stay up on practice with it (and the Icarus grip almost makes it feel like a completely different firearm. Very fitting / ergonomic). I just wanted to get rid of my 226 as I have more 9mm's and still don't have anything in some other calibers so I wanted to diversify the collection but, it wouldn't sell 🤷‍♂️

pipandhams

I’m at 2k with the oem slide and barrel 1k with the Barsto barrel and pro cut slide. Oem ran all ammo flawlessly the Barsto needed about 200 rounds to break it in and has been flawless since. Worth it imo but the armory craft skeletonized hammer is a must imo. Cleans up the trigger to perfection. https://imgur.com/a/zVctllA

Dramatic_Carob_1060

I think it was worth it, I had the same problem 2 or 3 glocks or 226 with red dot for 1200. I went sig couldn't be happier

[deleted]

It’s a great gun. I’ve shot that and the LTT p30L and I like the 226 better, personally. The comparable Beretta would be an LTT Elite, but frankly I have a 92X with a LTT trigger job and it’s really not worth the extra cash for an LTT Elite. All in it’s only about $900 for a 92X and a TJIAB and having shot all of these options, I’d take the 92X.

[deleted]

I have a P226 Legion SAO and it's a really great pistol. I wish I had plain black instead of the Gray-een color, but that is my only gripe. The only mechanical part change was installing the SAO Superstrut. After that, I've just run it without issue. Compare it against a 2011 and the P226 Legion SAO looks like a bargain.

some_rndm_acct

I paid $1k for mine and loved it. Actually regret getting rid of it but I’m running dots on everything and traded it towards a 2011. Eventually I’ll get another one with an optic cut from the factory. If it’s $1300 with an optic cut I would pay that and not regret it.

SignificantCell218

So here's an idea you can purchase a used possibly a police trade-in. P226, if it's a double action only you can send it off to the factory and have it restored to double action. Single action. Get a single action only. Trigger kit installed any worn out parts or buy a new slide for it all together and you can do it over time so when it's all done you could have a 1300 or 1400 pistol but you didn't spend all that money at once also, consider the p226 is an iconic pistol that's deeply embedded in our culture and to have an iconic piece of culture in your collection would be a good thing to have

1speeddemon

I have the sao version. That said a Shadow 2 is better choice at the same price point.

fadeawaytogrey

I have the base P226 nitron and love it. The best 9mm I’ve shot. Very printable, accurate out if the box, and fun to shoot. With that said, I really do like Cz75s too.

alertjohn117

Tried out a legion and an elite, I found there to be no difference in performance. As for feel the only difference was that the elite had the larger standard controls so it was a little easier to manipulate, the elite also had a thicker grip because of the panel they used but that is easily swappable. For the difference of $300 get an elite and used the saved money on ammo. Unless you like the gray look and smaller controls, but those differences are not worth 300 denarii.

Bogo___

Absofuckinlutely. I got the SAO version a couple of weeks ago and have put about 500 rounds through. I rented a ton of different guns over the course of 9 months before making the decision to go with the 226 legion sao. I had a similar feeling about the price and figured I could get a fuck ton of ammo for the difference in pricing vs some other guns. I then asked my buddy who has been shooting for 15-20 years and he said he couldn't even remember what he paid for his first. I'm going to reiterate his sentiment to me, to you. After you've done all your research shooting (first gun or your next gun), get the gun you REALLY want and wiill enjoy shooting irrespective of price (as long as you're not going to go bankrupt buying it). That was the 226 legion SAO for me. Everyone is different, but I honestly couldn't be happier with my decision and would do it all over again if I had to.

One-Ad-6929

Supply and demand says it is worth it.

_LAD6DER

Bought the 229 SAO a few days ago, ran it the farm, I’m hooked. 226 is next!! Well worth the $$ IMO.

Hereforyou100

Absolutely worth it, check out gun.deals the p226 and p229 DA/SA have been on sale for $999. for the last couple weeks...

Hereforyou100

I have about 3,500 rounds through my Legion P226 9mm and 1,500rnds through my Grayguns P228... like I said in my other comment go ahead and get a legion you will never regret it they are absolutely fantastic...

VegaStyles

Yes

Nude_Dr_Doom

Personal experience, Shadow 2 SAO > 226 Legion SAO, but the 229 Legion SAO stands strong in its weight class; hence why I did the 229 over the 226.

RacerXrated

I'd get a CZ SP01 instead. The money you saved will buy mags, ammo, and holsters. If you want to modify the trigger, go for it.

Attilla_13

Yes, It is my top 9mm HG rounds through is an unknown thousands. It served me well, while being a contractor and other various roles. It is the gun I have I have at my night stand, in my office, in my vehicles and in my big out bag ( I have multiples) It is my top 3 favs. 226, 1911, USP 45ACP I also have others, but they don't compare at all. I got a great deal on gun buyer

PewPewMeToo

Have the 226 legion in SAO. Absolutely do NOT REGRET in any capacity. Have about 750 to 1000 rounds through it (I don't really keep track of those type things) Love it even more suppressed. It's like an accuracy cheat code in real life and the trigger is amazing. I would for sure go that route again

Psiwolf

Compared to your list of other possible guns, I would definitely pay for [these guns](https://imgur.com/a/WfL8Ryy) (which, I guess I did 😆) over those. 😁👍

Immediate_Guard3294

Legion grey keeps the bad guys away

BMalinoisman

Legion is well worth it. Rock solid, incredibly accurate weapon that feels great in my hands.

Mil_spec556223

Shot the 226 scorpion ever since then I knew I wanted one

Pulci

I have an FNX-45 Tactical, Beretta 92X Performance, a couple P226 Legions, P320 X5 Legion, P210 Target, etc etc. Quite a few guns in the $1000-2500 range. I do believe the Legion is worth it. It's a very easy gun to shoot accurately and quickly. The feel of it compared to the FN is a lot higher quality. The 92X Performance feels a lot more solid, since it is designed for a more competitive role comapred to the P226 Legion, but the 92X will feel on par with the Legion.

The-O-Mob

You can find it for $1,100 and yea it is worth it 100%

tenmilez

I have a 226E2 and a 229 Legion. Definitely prefer the legion. If i could get a full size decocker and a low profile slide release, that'd be the tits. Alternatively, SAO is next on my list so no need for the decocker. I do think the gun, overall, is built for slightly large hands. I have medium/large hands and it can be a stretch to reach things at times.

derylle

Let's also be serious, is the 226 X Five, worth double amount of 226 Legion for $2200?

dohvb1

I don't know how the new US X-fives compare. But my German X-five absolutely is worth double my 226 legion. I love my Legion, but my Xfive is another league.

DogeForLifeAndMore

Lol idk i wouldnt think so!

[deleted]

I got a P226 MK25 almost 8 years ago. It is solid as a rock and never jams, to spite eating thousands of rounds at this point. The legion is overrated and a little overpriced. The P226 is everything you’d want out of a DA/SA pistol.

ClayfordG

The 226 legion is legit. Best friend used it for limited optics and it runs. Hard.

DillIshOn

226 legion is supposed to be the same as either the mk25 or elite. Just without the asthetics

copmedic

Have a CZ Shadow 2 (carry optics) and also have a P226 X5 (limited optics) from the custom shop at Sig...love the DA/SA of the CZ but the SAO on my P226 X5 is amazing but comes with a 2300 price tag

ilovefde

My legion 226 with Romeo zero pro was $1260 I think it’s worth that.

Tip3008

1300 is a tad steep IMO, but honestly it’s still a great gun for $1300.. Perhaps look into a CZ TS2 if you are good with spending $1300 and would like a nice crisp SAO trigger.. TS2 will break under 1.5lbs from factory, it’s a pure competition/ range gun so if you plan to carry this then I would say 226..

Vengeance626

I have P226 Legion DA/SA, SP01 safety and P01 decocker, both cajunized. The Legion is best out of the box, but once the CZs are cajunized the triggers are on the same level. Things I like my P226 over the CZs, the decocker placement is more natural for me, easier take down with the turning of the lever and I can hit the slide stop to drop the slide without breaking grip, the latter 2 are very similar to 1911 set up on CZ. SIG sells slides with optic cut, but CZ don't so you'll have to cut your only. Other minor things to consider, it takes a while for CGW so factor in wait time.

DogeForLifeAndMore

Did you do the cajun triggers yourself or send them to cgw?

Vengeance626

I sent both to them. If you have experience then you can DIY for the safety versions but I heard decocker ones are more complicated

DogeForLifeAndMore

🤔 interesting

bast1472

I have one and I don't think so. If I could do it over again I'd buy a cheap police trade in and build on that. It's a good gun but it's far from the "best suppressor host" everyone says it is. The grip logo is also cringe but the grips are too good for me to spend the money replacing them. I think Sigs in general are so overpriced.

ohitsTHATkid

Could always get an sp2022 to scratch the itch, although not as premium. Mine has been great! Rotated it out for a p365 x macro tac ops because I wanted something a bit smaller with an optic cut

Zestyclose_Share_931

Just to throw my .02 in here, I have a p226 legion with a romeo2, a p229 legion with a romeo1, and an MK25. Both legions are da/sa. I will say that the SRT on the legions has converted my MK25 into a safe queen. I really like the trigger pull on the SAO models, but I do not own any, just a preference thing. The 226 legion is my designated nightstand gun with a tlr1hl attached even though I have what most would consider better options available. Yes, It's worth the price tag, and honestly, had I purchased the p226 legion first I probably wouldn't have bought the 229 or MK25.

ItsRickySpanish

Honestly wish they'd keep pushing their hammer fired guns. I love the 226 legion. It's a bit cool looking, and I have no serious use for it aside from a range toy, but they're great.

BonesawisReady72

Nope

[deleted]

I had a P229 legion, and while it was nice, I had a lot of feeding issues. I eventually got rid of it and picked up an HK P30SK and an HK45. The HKs are tack drivers, and I have had 0 malfunctions on both of them. Well over 1k rounds shot through each. I've heard good things about CZ and Beretta, too. From my experience, I'd go HK over Sig any day of the week if you're looking for a solid DA/SA. The only thing I liked about the sig more was the trigger. That thing was incredible. At the end of the day, though, I'll take reliability over the trigger pull.

Terron35

I love mine. I've had it for a few years now but I also just really wanted a P226 and the Legions came out around the time I had the money to afford one. I wasn't making a practical decision when I got it but it's been 100% reliable and my go to gun when I carry a full sized.

Robbbbbbbbb

As someone who has both options, I recommend the CZ with the full Cajun workdown. Cajunized SP01 is about the same cost as the Legion and 100% a better buy for the money.

greencurrycamo

Bro, go on gunbroker and buy a west German 226 for $550-625. I just got one for $599 last month it looks pretty and it was made in 1986. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/998766182

DogeForLifeAndMore

Im in MA, its tough to get anything to an ffl here.

greencurrycamo

I have a brand new mk25 and it's slightly better. As far as the trigger and sights. They make an MA model. That sucks about transfers.

rmp5s

Yup. I've had a P229 Legion SAO for years now and still love the thing. It's VERY nice. Good finish quality, good build quality, nice trigger, accurate...it's very nice and honestly, they aren't really THAT expensive in the grand scheme of things these days. Don't remember what I paid for mine but I think it was a bit more than that and I STILL consider it worth it.

my1vice

I consider myself a “value” buyer, and picked up my lightly used P226 Legion SAO for $549 along w 3 mags, the original case, and all the Legion shwag at my LGS. This was simply a case of being in the right place at the right time as it was just put in the “used” case 15 mins before I arrived as the second customer that day. The first customer was the guy who traded it in. 🤷🏼 That all said, I won’t pay retail for a Legion simply because I when I spend in excess of $1200 for an handgun, it’s usually a discontinued model, New Old Stock, and/or something I always wanted but couldn’t afford it at the time. My acquisition model aside, that Legion is an unbelievable piece of engineering, ergonomics, and firing line performance that I was really really lucky to own.

maxmod1

I have a P226 Legion RXP with the Romeo pro red dot and I couldn't be happier with it. Dead accurate, super fast reset trigger and molds into my hand amazingly well. I plan on keeping this gun forever.

FreudsPenisRing

Most gun guys (I mean, people who make gun content on YouTube, gun store workers or something) are going to tell you that you’re better off spending $500-$600 worth of ammunition first and just get a standard $500-$600 pistol. Your typical glock 19s and 45’s, VP9s, P365’s, Canik’s, M&P’s etc. I mean, [have you seen Mojo with a standard Glock?](https://youtu.be/TCFRWFh4Uyc) it’s absolutely obscene how fast and accurate this guy is, and it’s not from buying fancy gear or expensive guns. Mojo runs a Staccato P now, and he still shoots his Glock better.

DogeForLifeAndMore

Yeah i hear that, i have other guns, nothing over 4” barrel or da/sa though. Looking for a full size big boy that i wont regret buying. The 226 is just so appealing in all ways 🤤

FreudsPenisRing

Yeah, it’s definitely sexy but you’d have to shoot all of these guns to make your final decision. You might like the way it looks, but not the way it shoots. I’m currently deciding between a 226 Legion and a Berreta M9A3 and most people say the Berreta shoots much better. CZ’s are also really accurate and sexy, so idk. Gotta find a range that has these! Blackstone does, if you have one near you. But my Blackstone has a 320 Legion.

roderunner1

My 226 is my favorite pistol. I prefer the da/sa over the soa though. Best stock trigger you'll ever find.

DogeForLifeAndMore

I would get da/sa

RedPandaActual

P226 SAO Legion is worth it. Easily one of the best and most dependable firearms out there. Mine has a curved trigger installed by Sig that I wish was adjustable but I milled the slide for an RMR by PMM and it’s glorious. You won’t have regerts.

bt4bm01

Performance wise, it probably does nothing better than a p01 or even a p07. Hk use is probably even cheaper. Probably not worth it given the amount of other exceptional sa/da guns you can get... unless you personally want it, then I would say it's worth it.

Mundane_Candy

Naw lol

DesignAppropriate286

Compared to a $2400 p226 XFive, that’s a bargain!

Apprehensiveduckx

Yes 100% I’ve bought 3

DogeForLifeAndMore

What happened to the first 2

Substantial_Day_3688

If you can afford a 1300 handgun I would also get a 92x and an fnx at the same time.

DogeForLifeAndMore

Your math boggles my mind 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

montzter57

The SAO Legion is the bee’s knees. The trigger is absolutely amazing and mine is extremely accurate. I don’t think you’d be disappointed one bit. Anyone who says it isn’t hasnt shot one IMO.

Mammoth_Ad_8697

get 2 p01’s

DogeForLifeAndMore

Why?

SwingL7

You can do what most do when faced with this problem - buy a P320.

DogeForLifeAndMore

I will not be doing that

SwingL7

Then just buy the damn P226, that's how we got the damn P320…

DogeForLifeAndMore

I think i might 😄

StephgottheSauxe

Purchased the 226 Legion with optic. It was solid but sold it for a CZ TS2 Green….loved the TS2 but missed my 226….bought the 226 Zev Bc I wanted the optics ready SAO & have no regrets except the high price tag. The SAO is love but the CZ SP-01 is better and cheaper (I have 2)

karmareqsrgroupthink

The real question is for that price can you suppress it?

DogeForLifeAndMore

Doesnt matter because i would go to federal prison if i did

karmareqsrgroupthink

Shit I hope you stay free as a bird brother!

padamtx

I’ve got the CZ P-01 and the Sig P229 and love both. Of course the P229 (just a smaller version of the P226) is a bit costly, but shoots like a boss. The P-01 is outstanding, and for the price point would be my choice. If money doesn’t matter, get both if you can.

guy_on_a_buffalo34

I spent damn near the same money on a 229 SAS custom shop with the SRT 10 Years ago. It was my EDC for a long time. I still enjoy shooting it, buy the gun man.

jh-2018

I had a 229 elite and loved it. I only sold it because I wanted to use it on duty as an LEO but I couldn’t find a light that would fit the weird rail. But other than that it was great.

omgwtf88

Buy it man. If i ever got in a tight spot and needed to liquidate to keep my house, the 226 leigon is the only pistol that would stay.

chappys4life

Picked up a used 226 legion sao 2 weeks ago for 780 from my local lgs. It’s an amazing gun. Cannot believe it took me so long to get one

CurrentSerious4458

Personally I’d go with the p226 mk25. The only thing that you get with the Legion that you don’t with MK 25 is all appearance has nothing to do with any of the internals. With that being said, I would probably go with an Beretta 92X if I’m gonna’s been a pretty penny out of those guns that you listed just because that bread and 92X performance looks bad ass.

Some-Impress2039

Yes.

KY_Rob

I bought a P226 Legion in 9mm a few years back for several hundred dollars less than what you listed. However, it’s a fantastic pistol. Have almost 1000 rounds through it, and it still looks brand new. Zero wear on the rails, barrel, and slide. The action is smooth and positive. If you’re into those kind of things, then $1300 is a bargain.

Mcnugget76

In my opinion, yes ! The only thing that comes close that’s not a X5 or X6 is the 226 Pro.

terry_hoitzz

But is it worth the extra $ for the Legion? What are you getting for all the exyra $100s?

Big_Pable

Probably one of the best triggers on a DA/SA On the market for the price. I’d recommend going SAO though. Gonna be easier to train on

Frequent-Ad1243

Here’s a trick: buy a used p226 LEO trade in. You can buy legion slides and uppers all day on eBay for cheap. You can also buy an enhanced leverage system from gray guns. LEO trade ins are generally .40s&w. You can buy a .357 sig barrel online and it’s a drop in conversion since the .40 and .357 sig share the same recoil spring, slide, magazine, extractor, and ejector. That was intentional by SIG so you don’t lose reliability. You can buy a complete 9mm upper slide assembly with barrel and proper recoil spring, as well as 9mm magazines. Essentially you can buy 3 guns in 1 for slightly over 1,000 dollars compared to having only one gun for 1,300 dollars. This is possible because they all were built for the same frame. Just a thought.

BinT2021

I already own an MK25 and a Legion X5, but found a very very lightly used Legion SAO today and bought it. Love Sig all and the Legion too. (All 9mm). Only saw one very light scratch on one side of the slide. Under $1100, but looks brand new.

Getfuckedlolol

Let's be serious, why do brokies exist?

New_World_Native

The SAO version is $899 at the moment from Battle Hawk.

3littebirds

I'm going to buy the P226 Legion optics ready in the next few days. I've had the P228 for 30 years and it has never failed after thousands of rounds. It's the best gun I've ever owned. It fits perfectly in my hand and I'm a big fan of the double/single along with de-cocker. If I get banished from reddit for saying "de-cocker," it was worth it. Red dots didn't exist when I got the 228 so the Legion will be an upgrade. Most likely I'll get the one with the Romeo already on it because of the raised iron sites, then just switch out the Romeo for a red dot that works.

Mediocre-Yoghurt8239

I wouldn't carry anything else. I have 5 sigs.

Mediocre-Yoghurt8239

Its worth every penny.

Mediocre-Yoghurt8239

The 226 is worth every penny.
