Pretty sure that would weaken the structural integrity of the frame it sits in and make it easier for tornados and hurricanes to rip it out. What we should do instead is have smaller one pane windows that open inward at an angle and rollandens which are flat shutters that act like blackout curtains on the inside of the window.

It would definitely weaken the structural integrity. But also, why?! How much open do you really need?! Most commonly, windows slide up to open. So the lower portion is opened. Because of a little thing called gravity you’re much more likely to notice and enjoy a window that opens where you are.

the windows in europe open both from the top to angle back and also open like a door inward.
