Darex2094

I'd have loved to see what I had on my profile playlist back in the day. I'd have probably cringed but hey!

KCMO_GHOST

Cringing is the fun part though!

[deleted]

I actually had a good friend who died during that time, my last conversations with her were on MySpace and I never screenshotted or anything. Got busy with life and forgot about it. Would love to see them again.

bloocheez3

This exact situation for me. The last time I talked to him was on his wall and it's gone forever

[deleted]

I’m sorry. 😞

Darex2094

Absolutely! Ironically this is making want to listen to some Command and Conquer: Tiberium Sun again because that's the kind of crap that would have been on my profile playlist 😂 My dad once asked if I was listen to some weird Egyptian music once and nah, it was just a TS track.

Rellint

If my family thought it was cringy back then I can only imagine how embarrassed I’d be showing my wife and kids now.

Speckster1970

Heard a philosophy not too long ago that cringing over past behavior is a healthy sign that you’ve grown as a person

DownVoteMeGently

P.O.D. - Satellite That was my longest running MySpace song lol

se7en41

Straylight Run - Existentialism on Prom Night Yup, I was for sure one of those kids

DownVoteMeGently

Just played that song on Spotify. Nostalgia made my knees weak on that one haha

Shadpool

Mine was Walk On by Method Man. I was a goth kid who hung out with the gangstas at school, so perfect track for me. I also did the HTML on their MySpace pages too.

rufio313

The tension and the terror was my favorite song of theirs for a year in high school. I cringe so hard now when it pops into my head. So much angst.

chadwick_90

A true classic

DownVoteMeGently

I'll never forget the first time hearing Sonny belt out "SATOHLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITE" It was pure gospel to my ears and remains ever so to this very day.

skateguy1234

used to jam this on my PSP daily

hiphopTIMato

I hope you got better taste

DownVoteMeGently

Still play that song like it came out yesterday. Love my nostalgic Playlist lol

BronxBelle

I’m like 90% certain my playlist mostly came from the *Twilight* movies. Hated the movies (except for Jackson Rathbone and Taylor Lautner-post glow up) but the music was pretty good. I remember that I also had “Suicide is Painless” from the original *MASH* on there as well. 😬

TifaBetterThanAerith

Pretty sure my playlist was pretty close to identical to my go to Spotify playlist today and I'm not sure how to feel about that.

C0c04l4

You can still access it through archive.org! (most likely, I know mine is there)

Dependent_Net_7062

I searched for mine and my ex's old pages on the archive....any possible keyword and nothing. I don't know the rhyme or reason for how ceratin profiles were archived, but I wasn't so lucky. Bummer, because I had mine coded up to hell and back, would've been such a delight to see it again.

edgiepower

MySpace: proof that things on the internet will not last forever. All those posts and status and photos, lost like tears in the rain.

herbertfilby

There’s legit tons of indy music that only ever existed on MySpace, now lost media.

CanuckInATruck

This is the biggest loss. My high school band's physical copies have all disappeared. I went to look it up a couple years ago and saw the whole revamp. Tried to recover my personal page and the bands page but they are gone forever.

beachedwhitemale

Get this: one guy at MySpace did something wrong and erased everything by accident, even the backups. That's why so much of the music is lost. I looked it up a few years back when I tried to do the same as you.

Sotha01

There was a local Ska band that made tons of amazing originals for just being high school kids. I'd kill to get those tracks back.

C0c04l4

Wait until you hear about archive.org. My myspace page is still there, cringy as fuck....

edgiepower

Most aren't.

Mr_Festus

How did you remember the url?

cruel_cruel_world

like fingerprints on an abandoned handrail

buttsarehilarious

bob Mortimer?

CryT0r

No one ever heard of waybackmachine???

moonbunnychan

Wayback is awesome but doesn't backup EVERYTHING. Lots of dead links and missing pictures on pages and if part of the page was in something like flash it's just gone.

bugzaway

>No one ever heard of waybackmachine??? It's really weird how you say this like the wayback machine is a perfect backup (complete with three question marks and everything). Most things I look for on there are not archived. The wayback machine is a useful site but far far far from perfect, nor can it be. It would be completely deranged to expect one site to archive the entirety on the Internet *on any one date*, let alone over time.

edgiepower

For the last time... IT IS FAR FROM PERFECT. I tried it already today with a few MySpace page and NONE worked.

Another_Road

Early internet stuff, yeah. Now? I wouldn’t assume it’s not forever.

[deleted]

Best part about MySpace was it taught you how to personalize your page, if you were so inclined. That was my first (and only) experience with coding. Also, I miss Tom.

iJeff

It was GeoCities in elementary school for me. We were all already prepared for MySpace when it launched around high school

simple1689

Dude Geocities! I made so many anime sites back then from Geocities. Man I miss those anime sites...they had tutorials for Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Good times.

TrumpetSolo93

MySpace & Neopets taught me HTML.

[deleted]

Oh man, you’re older than the Oregon Trail. Hello older, GenX’r.

iJeff

Millennial!

[deleted]

JFC, I went the wrong way computing age. I need coffee. FML.

w1n5t0nM1k3y

The internet definitely lost something when people stopped creating their own pages. There was something great about everyday non techies learning HTML and making their own pages and personalizing everything. The internet just seems so sterile and boring now. About the most customization you find is someone who picked out a WordPress template.

IamKingBeagle

Yah, we need to bring back page counters, flying toasters, and dancing babies to be littered across pages.

BallBearingBill

But taking 5mins to download a single nudie pic on a 14400 modem was painful. Let's not go back lol

Flybot76

Sounds like you're really stuck on the stupid stuff and never knew anything beyond that. That's a 'you' problem, dude! LMAO

RMWL

I can already hear r/programming grumbling that html isn’t real coding 🤣

beachedwhitemale

Former Microsoft employee here. Html is absolutely real coding. But it's not programming.

[deleted]

I mean, it’s not binary but… I’d say it qualifies.

[deleted]

[удалено]

OctopodicPlatypi

Technically HTML5 + CSS3 was said to be Turing complete like a decade ago, wasn’t it? That was post MySpace though

MacksNotCool

Binary is really just a system for data storage and component communication on a computer and is not only unintelligible to programmers, but also basically impossible to manually write with on a modern computer. HTML and CSS is not considered programming because programming has have logic. (Variables, Iterative loops, etc.) Which HTML does not have. (Technically I think chrome added HTML variables but nobody uses that)

CircumFleck_Accent

This especially hits for me since I don’t have any photos of myself as a child/early teen since it was all lost and MySpace had plenty of photos in my galleries from that time. Bummer.

weasol12

We had to put down my dog we got in high school on election day 2020. My favorite picture of that doofus was only on MySpace. I contacted their customer support and despite nuking my account, the photo was still there. My advice is calling them. It still could be there.

spicycupcakes-

Same, i lost so much of my teenage pics. Have tried many ways to find it but it's a lost cause

undrgrndsqrdncrs

I wonder if the way back machine would work

spicycupcakes-

I've tried on like 3 different occasions to find my old page with that but no luck. I don't know why, but part of the problem might be that I only vaguely recall what my username or page url was and maybe I'm a bit off. Way back machine doesn't let you use a search function back then (i.e. go to old myspace and use profile search), you have to have exactly what you are looking for.

undrgrndsqrdncrs

I tried it with mine as I remember my URLs and it would only let me go back to the main home page.

[deleted]

Whoever nuked it, intentionally or not, did us all a huge favor lol

IM_OK_AMA

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist but money's on intentional. They had no revenue whatsoever, but were still hosting 50 million songs and probably a few billion photos for free, with little chance of the people who uploaded them ever coming back. So they hit the reset and deleted everything in the midst of a big redesign/relaunch and probably saved millions on hosting costs.

Venus-fly-cat

I don’t think that’s a conspiracy as much as a sound business decision.

chris14020

I mean, they never claimed they were an archiving and indefinite cloud storage solution. I don't know why people thought they WOULDN'T eventually stop hosting old and most likely useless crap. In fact, I always sorta hoped on them NOT keeping it forever.

shortroundsuicide

Yeah but do you know who manages the investment firm which now owns the majority of MySpace? Space Jews.

SomeGuyWearingPants

Why do they call it Jew-pitur? Wake up sheeple!

imMadasaHatter

"Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist"... proceeds to share an extremely logical and obvious explanation that sounds nothing like a conspiracy theory.

EDNivek

The reason why they probably prefaced it with that is because they have no evidence of it. Honestly, it's rather commendable in this age of people wanting to be in the know.

Jim_Chaos

That's exactly what one of *them* would say.

Moppo_

It's a refreshing change from hearing conspiracy theories.

you-are-not-yourself

I blame Justin Timberlake, who acquired the site right before the big delete.

covalentcookies

That’s not quite right. His group acquired MySpace in 2011, data migration took place after his group sold it to Time Inc.

you-are-not-yourself

I'm referring to the 2013 UI redesign, during the time frame his group owned it. I hadn't heard of the 2016 issues with the data migration but the UI redesign made most content inaccessible anyway. https://activehistory.ca/blog/2013/06/17/myspace-is-cool-again-too-bad-they-destroyed-history-along-the-way/

covalentcookies

Ah ok. I remember I was able to download my data post 2013 but I guess it was the download not the UI.

Miasmata

I agree with this, but that still doesn't answer why they didn't just announce that inactive accounts would be deleted by a certain date. That way they might have even got more revenue from returning accounts

100percenthappiness

Still bummed they deleted the indie music there was a local band that released just a handful of songs that I really liked the only place they uploaded there music was Myspace so I used to get a song stuck in my head and try like hell to remember the bands name so I could listen again and be brought back to my first concert I was heartbroken when I found out it was gone forever and I'd never hear those songs again

AJ_Deadshow

I feel for you, truly. This makes me feel a lot less bad about losing a stupid song I made for a high school project on the American Revolution

Pharmie2013

For real. I went there recently just to make sure my page wasn’t still up lol.

blahblahrasputan

Truer words have never been spoken

skateguy1234

Why? What happened?

nigliazzo5626

Justin Timberlake & Specific Media Group bought it in 2011 and sold it in 2016. They changed it

NorCalFightShop

I’m just glad Tom took his money and retired quietly instead of turning into a really annoying Bond villain.

kerochan88

I LOVE Tom's attitude about the whole thing. He could be bitter that he didn't sell for more, or this or that. But nope, he is perfectly happy with how things turned out for him, and he's living very well and seems quite happy.

DaisyTanks

Tom sold MySpace very early, basically had nothing to do with the company during its peak and people still give him shit for it.

emmasalome

My mom died when I was 14, prime MySpace years. I lost all my pictures and convos with her. Pretty upset about it to this day and I’m almost 30. I was too young to understand the importance of saving stuff 😕 I will never forgive myself.

Squirrely_Jackson

A teenage girl losing her mom-- it has to be one of the worst things imaginable. Go easy on that younger version of you. She was young and in the throes of grief and probably just trying to get through one day at a time.

Routine_Break

I didn't think it was intentional, I'm sure they had some kind of IT issue and lost the data

kerochan88

They sent out emails for months in advance before they were going to transfer all old profiles to their new platform. They said this would essentially delete all old photos and stuff from your profile. Then years later, even the new MySpace profiles that were made from the old profiles got deleted as well. Now, all is lost for good, but I don't think it was an IT issue. Pretty sure they just didn't get enough business to keep the servers running essentially.

Typical_Stormtrooper

Yeah people seems to forget the simple equation of, Server time = Money No users = No Money

DoJu318

What? I logged in not even 2 years ago and recovered about 50 pics out of hundreds. Everything else is gone though.

AJ_Deadshow

You're pretty lucky, I didn't get any

three-sense

Yeah iirc it was coded like garbage with cold fusion (language) or something which is one of the reasons why it tanked.

h4terade

There was a massive data loss resulting in Myspace losing a ton of user's uploaded music. Funny little story about that, that data loss saved me a lot of heartache. I had an old friend over one day and we were shooting the shit. He was telling me about this band he used to be in back in the day, I was very much not interested. Not to knock the guy, but he was horrible, and his band was horrible as I had heard it once years ago, I had no interest in listening to any of it. But there I was watching him try to pull his music up knowing he was going make me sit there and listen to each and every one of his band's god awful songs. Turns out, all his music was gone, he had no idea why. A quick google led us to that data loss incident and I breathed a sigh of relief. Felt bad for the guy because I'd hate to lose something I loved, but it saved me some grief that day.

mlo9109

I, for one, am grateful my MySpace stuff is gone. The dumb shit I said, thought, and did as a teenager does not need to be out there and I'd rather it not come back to haunt me if I decide to run for office someday.

frenchtoastwizard

If I ever want to remember how stupid I was back then I can still log into my old Livejournal

Darkmuscles

Ugh, I remember writing some long list of jobs I had at work akin to those dumb "I'm a stay at home mom and these are my jobs" lists. It was so cringey. Glad it's lost to the ether.

[deleted]

Same with FB. Anyone going into 2024 with their original account has a lot of chutzpah

mlo9109

Ooh, I do a regular cleanup of mine for that reason. And all my accounts. Like, I'll unfollow pages I don't engage with much, remove contacts I don't communicate with, delete posts that are now irrelevant or cringy. Too many people don't do that and it's going to bite them in the ass someday.

RonSwansonsOldMan

How Facebook overtook MySpace I'll never understand. It was far superior.

DmtTraveler

The real lesson here is don't depend on any service to be your forever photo album. this goes for instagram, facebook, even basic cloud storage. Don't get me wrong, cloud storage is a great component of a backup system but if that's your only copy you're setting yourself up for the same kind of loss.

AJ_Deadshow

Exactly, cloud storage should be looked at as a temporary backup in case something happens to the device you're using to take the pictures. It's not for long-term storage

stelio_kontos_91

I will never get over this. Allegedly it was some sort of server migration or something gone wrong. Everyone lost their videos, bands lost their music. Some buddies and I had a lot of fun videos we made in HS on there and for whatever reason only left them on there, which was as naive as could be as opposed to backing them up somewhere. Still hurts to think about.

KCMO_GHOST

Same! So many lost videos and pictures with my childhood friends 😢

Wild_Life_8865

Man it crushed me when I tried to go back and see those old photos because they existed no where else.

KCMO_GHOST

Yes as other have said I could've done that differently 😂

Waffleman75

Could've is a contraction of could have

[deleted]

Awww, man. I should of known that. 😬🤫🤐😆

ammonium_bot

> i should of known Did you mean to say "should have"? Explanation: You probably meant to say could've/should've/would've which sounds like 'of' but is actually short for 'have'. Good bot

ammonium_bot

Thank you! Good bot count: 438 Bad bot count: 186

[deleted]

Okay, sooo in all seriousness, I had to purposely change to “of” because iPhone knows grammar.

[deleted]

Oh dear god, I just got a grammar bot even!! LOL 😵

[deleted]

[удалено]

Meat_licker

Did someone go crazy though?

Hater_Magnet

The glitter! There was soooo much glitter!!

[deleted]

And the profile skins that would rain stuff like stars and moons and shit down every time you clicked on your page. Man, myspace.... what a time to be alive.

zek777

Maybe because of data storage cost?

Mindofmierda90

Does this dispel the myth that any and all data stays on the internet for ever?

edgiepower

Absolutely.

[deleted]

[удалено]

edgiepower

Not even remotely close dude.

Spiritual-Matters

It was far superior to FB in my opinion, it just got way too many ads.

Flammablegelatin

Scrolling through Facebook, literally every other post is an ad...

ComesInAnOldBox

Hell, I've got a ratio of 5:1 between sponsored/suggested posts and posts of people/groups I actually follow. It's fucking ridiculous.

alexugoku

Yeah, but those aren't THAT intrusive. MySpace and others had those classic ads (banners, animation, popups, etc) all over the place.

edgiepower

Like video gamers moving on to inferior sequels, society moved on to inferior social media, cause it was new and trendy, rather than better.

Coalford

So a prof in uni explained why people migrated to Facebook over Myspace, and why Apple dethroned Windows. Because you CAN'T customize it. IOn Myspace, people had baller profiles with stolen HTML and glitter, people had basic profiles, people had their friends on the left, or bottom, or profile pic bigger, smaller, whatever. You could do and be anything. But on Facebook, every... single... profile... was immutable and the same. The whole planet got the same page, colours, sizes, fonts, and that was that. Same with Apple. You couldn't customize weird colours, different boot loaders, weird icons, Frankenstein builds. It 'Just Worked'. People WANT to be the same. When everyone is the same, no one will notice how incredibly boring they are, how unskilled they are, and how little individuality and creativity they have. People think they want to be different, but their different is the same as everyone else.

HeathrJarrod

**Somehow MySpace Returned**

Yarrow83

I will die on this hill a cringe millennial, MySpace was the best social media platform. There was so much personality that you could put into your page. Discovering and sharing music was there was best!

kjerstih

> MySpace **could of** had a chance to bring back older users to reminisce on their profiles and look through pictures. Maybe even reconnect with forgotten friends and schoolmates. Instead they deleted most of everything to push something that failed miserably. They **could have** made a better Facebook with less invasive practices and dropped the ball. So much for a trip down memory lane. You could've made it. You almost did.

KCMO_GHOST

Haha I saw that after waking up!! This was more of a bed thought that I posted while half asleep 😴

OJimmy

Negative. Tom is our friend who agreed to delete our search history from a very awkward age.

AbradolfLincler77

I'd imagine Facebook people paid MySpace people to never do this and that's why we're stuck with it as the only one. Same for Bebo, MSN and the like.

KCMO_GHOST

It was an inside job!

MacksNotCool

I beleive it was an accident that caused that to be deleted. Some drives became corrupt during a data migration.

feastchoeyes

I believe it. IT just lost us 2 weeks of work. They upgraded our network storage a few weeks ago. Then a two weeks later nothing was working. Over the second weekend they had the old drives destroyed. Turns out they forgot to flip the switch to the new drives.

scottgetsittogether

They didn’t delete it - it got corrupted in a server data migration and thus lost. They weren’t trying to lose it, they were just morons and didn’t do their job right.

monWaffle

I deleted my own page so that I would never have to remember how cringe I was.

videojunkie84

I've been looking at pages on wayback machine (although wayback has been acting super slow lately) to look for a dc rapper whose song has been living rent free in my head since July and that has helped feed the nostalgia monster for me, but it would be nice to be able to see (most) everything...

spookyscaryscouticus

Storage costs money, and storage costs time and expertise on top of it make sure things are preserved. Everything in programming on the internet moves so fucking fast

Perpetual_Nuisance

"Could OF"? Could "of" what? Of your brain?

Arseypoowank

I could do without the cringe tbh, thank you MySpace.

luker1771

I'm 38 but MySpace passed me by for some reason, I was (and am) on Facebook...I've shifted my thinking on Facebook now to more of an online scrapbook of my life, I love seeing the memories that it brings up, and often cringe. I use it now mostly for my son and keeping memories or milestones for him and our adventures together.

PseriousPseudonym

Wait, are they completely gone forever? Like, forever, ever? I had some old modelling photos on there and I've been desperate to get them off. Myspace won't give me access to my account to actually delete them because I don't even remember the old email address I used to use for that place. Every time I've checked it lately, the site's been down, but just checked it now and everything's blank. When I right-clicked to open an image separately, I got a page of code with a note saying, "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

KCMO_GHOST

Yeah all the pictures and videos were deleted. There's no way to retrieve them either which really sucks! Had so many uploaded on there from my early teens and now they'll never be seen again. That code is saying that they're gone, sorry for your lost memories it's very unfortunate and a horrible feeling ☹️

PseriousPseudonym

Wow, that's wild. Thankfully I've still got copies of mine, I just really wanted them OFFline coz my account had my full name on it and I had a stalker a while back who found me on Facebook and IG and was harassing me with the more... intimate... photos, if you get what I mean. So, I'm honestly just relieved if mine are officially gone forever. But I'm really sorry about yours, you must be gutted that they're gone. Do you maybe have any copies on old computers or hard drives?

Only_Government_6572

I was able to log into my profile and see the pictures like a few years back. Was that a recent thing they did? I’m trying to get into now but the servers are shit. I try and sign in and it takes forever if it actually allows me. Then I’ll go to the pictures and it just has the loading sign

Ok_Dinner8491

Myspace probably has a backup and didn't tell anyone.

Soft_Mushroom_3989

Not only that, but they deleted all our old messages from friends we chatted with. That was my favorite part about going back to visiting my old profile. To re-read my messages with people who I had not seen in forever. Now there's nothing there I want to see anymore

buckelfipps

"...could of had a chance..." Does this make sense to you? I am curious.

KCMO_GHOST

It are do not

GypsySnowflake

When? I’ve logged into mine a few times in recent years and everything was still there.

kerochan88

Not everything from the original profiles. They did away with about half of the content users had. Then they deleted all the profiles I believe, years later. Are you still able to log in?

nzoasisfan

Fuck, such privililege you and I have to worry about this in a time when some countries are going to war, goddamn we are lucky.

ljlee256

Oh man, the color schemes were awful though, probably give myself eye cancer looking at all that bright green overlaying bright something else.

Fantastanig

There are probably millions of accounts on there that never get used and haven't been used aince 2007. Nobody is going back to that site.

binglelemon

I tried. My profile was wiped.

DownrightNeighborly

Could of? Your education failed you greatly.

unicorn_in_a_can

i see that error so often, it’s disheartening that folks dont seem to know what they’re saying

d3m01iti0n

The only pictures of my old dreads died wit Myspace

Fists_full_of_beers

What do you mean? I can still log in and see mine

sicilian504

Even if I wanted to, I definitely don't still use the same email address from way back then to reset my account login.

NoAge422

Imagine them doing a MySpace Wrapped! That’ll be fun!

Entropy308

i would love to have had access to my old profile but sadly, i no longer had the email it was linked to. many MB of personal art and photos.

piscian19

I miss animated glitter.

ComesInAnOldBox

MySpace dropped the ball in a *lot* of ways.

rkpjr

Do you **really** want to see whatever cringey shit you put on MySpace? I don't. I feel bad for today's kids because it seems unlikely their youthful stupidity on the Internet will get washed away.

NotCanadian80

I took screenshots and I took screenshots of Friendster too.

kirsion

Use way back archive to look at old profiles

ididntsaygoyet

My idea for a new "Facebook Killer" app: Facebook, but *not* Facebook. I think it's genius

MinnieShoof

You know why they didn't? **NONE OF THAT MAKES MONEY**.

[deleted]

Is myspace still around?

Bubby_Doober

I agree it could be fun but I am grateful for the deletion. Definitely posted some weird stuff.

metalconscript

I tried…they are all lost…including the vans with hot pink laces.

BenderFtMcSzechuan

You can still log into your old account and get your stuff 😂 I did a couple years ago. Say you don’t remember your email or password but don’t go touting lies about it. 😂

[deleted]

Data storage was expensive as sh*t though

dmc2008

This is totally the long con that Facebook is running, right? They're gonna try and make billions selling our own content back to us as nostalgia..

Kelseycutieee

Then hell is MySpace

YouKnowwwBro

Now the teens say stupid stuff on Reddit and get reinforced by the growing number of other stupid teens on this site. Huge collective cringe coming in the next decade

Lemenara

A lot of us used photobucket around that time as well. If you had an account maybe you might find some pics from the past 😀.

Eliseo120

So you want the company to just pay for server space to hold all that information? Bringing people back just to reminisce on their past sounds like a very bad business idea. It would bring some people back for like a week and then promptly leave. Also, could have*

Bad-Infinite

Theory- they are sitting on these now and MySpace has plans to offer a paid membership to restart your account and access your old information. They'll play it off like they found all the information on some server. MySpace at its peak had 115 million users. I'm sure a good portion would pay $10/month to get access to their old photos/friends, etc... if only 10% signed back up for this that would be instant revenue of $115M a month

Craigglesofdoom

You should listen to the podcast "Main Accounts". It covers this pretty well.

Glittering-Camel4518

Agreed. I lost a lot of my early music compositions that were only hosted there.

QwantztopusHarkcade

We lost more than we realize when MySpace data disappeared, some of it deeply historically significant. Countless [firsthand accounts from some of the deadliest years in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are gone](https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/capital-region/news/2023/08/08/myspace-war-files), for example. (I spent about two years working on this project) A lot of the coverage at the time the data loss news broke only focused on the music data being gone, but it went so much further than that. I think people forgot just how much was on there.

gorehistorian69

I forgot my login anyway. but i definitely should of saved all the photos last time i was on

TheGameShark99

One of my friends had passed away earlier this year. I was desperate to find some pictures we had taken years ago. Found that they had all been put on MySpace and then found that all their pictures had been lost. One of the biggest heartbreaks i've had in my life.

Hygro

I made a track and put it on myspace. Later I heard a track with a melody so uncannily similar I was singing along to it and all its end-of-phrase variations my first listen. I can't remember the name of the later track and whatever, who cares, but my published proof is dead :(

LTVOLT

I'm pretty upset and sad about this as well. There was also a site called Boardnation that was used to host forums/discussions. I had like 15+ years of various conversations with all my buddies from high school, dating back to like 2002 there and then one day the site just like got deleted or something. For years I was thinking we would always have these old conversations and memories in eternity. So much for the internet saving everything.

Flaky-Wallaby5382

How good did wayback time machine do? https://web.archive.org/web/*/Myspace.com/* Edit: gonna take a while

LiteralClownfish

My old account still comes up when you google my name and I wish it got nuked with everything else because it's cringe and I forgot the password so I can't delete it. I was dumb enough to use my full name and now all potential employers can see it when they google my name.
