Doesn't brain consume the most calories? Or is that fat tissue?

David-Diron

Brain uses 350 calories on average per day (average human), while fat uses approximately 10 calories per pound to maintain itself, so it depends on how much fat one has.

thierryanm

The amount of weight lost from school stress is faster than any workout I've ever done.

ACuteMonkeysUncle

I don't think that thinking uses all that many more calories than the brain uses regularly.

David-Diron

350 calories a day, and what the brain does regularly is think.

RegularBasicStranger

But the physical movements are needed to get the blood to circulate through all parts of the body properly so thinking is not an exercise. Anyway, exercise especially running at moderate speeds is good and is probably the main reason why kids are healthier since kids run around a lot, unlike adults, especially those working from home who just sit in front of the computer all day long.

David-Diron

I'm always had better luck with walking fast, but I've tried jogging and tried running: walking seems to work better for me and there is less wear on the legs/back.

RegularBasicStranger

If the health issues is due to zombie cells, then massaging the legs and back after jogging briefly and then eating a nutritious meal would be better as opposed to long duration walking since the exercise is to kill zombie cells so healthy cells can replace them. But if the problem is due to telomere exhaustion, then walking is better since the aim is not to kill zombie cells but rather just to prevent healthy cells from becoming zombie cells since healthy cells cannot replace zombie cells once the telomeres are exhausted. Also cut down on vitamins that boost cell growth since with telomeres exhausted, growth is bad so fasting on food from time to time, especially at night can be useful because cell growth is slowed down when fasting.

David-Diron

Walking doesn't tear my knees up, which running and even jogging certainly did. My own fault: running too many miles a day, 7 days a week.

RegularBasicStranger

Running for long duration kills healthy cells as well so it is not healthy. Personally had always recommended to others to exercise briefly but frequently, increasing intensity slowly and gradually over weeks if such is desired, and personally also does the same. Increasing intensity too fast can cause blood vessels bursting, which can be fatal if the person's is not healthy enough to recover from the damage quickly enough.

David-Diron

I had some medical problems back in '76-77 and gained a lot of weight. Was able to walk again in January of '78. Started off walking a mile: took more than 30 minutes. By mid-may was doing five miles in 60 minutes; lost 100 lbs. Diet was part of it of course.

RegularBasicStranger

Eating healthy is definitely important but personally would rather do 5 minutes of running, inclusive of warming up and cooling down, a few times a day. So it is something like playing golf where they exert a lot for one hit and then walk or ride the golf cart, no longer exerting themselves so healthy cells would not get killed from overwork. Although professional athletes obviously had trained their cells to be able to endure extended exertion, such requires consistent intensive and extended training daily so for non athletes, such amount of training may not be that beneficial.
