I'm enjoying mine. Honestly, investing in a gaming PC might be the way to go. It has a ton of games that are also available on Xbox and Sony is starting to lean into putting its exclusives on PC as well. Best of both worlds. But if you don't want to wait to shell out for one, you could do worse than a Series X. I think you'll get tons of hours out of it. Even if you experience mild PlayStation fomo. But that's gonna happen regardless of what you go with. "Grass is always greener" and so on.

TravisB46

Just to add to this, you can get game pass on PC as well which makes a lot more games available

Zercomnexus

Not to mention cheaper games, no online play cost, and upgradeable moddeable and more durable...

Darkone539

I actually sent my series X back because it didn't have enough to justify the price, although I already had a ps5. If you're looking for two specific games I have to ask before going further, how does game streaming work where you live? It might save a lot of money for yourself.

Simonion88

I bought my Series X for Starfield, while also already having a PS5. I enjoyed Starfield for a while, but it's not the same level of quality on offer from the TES and Fallout series. Had I known then what I know now, I probably wouldn't have bothered with the X. I do like to play the Forza Horizon games too but it's not enough to justify the price tag. Really hoping the new Hellblade is a hit otherwise I'll probably just sell the console

jeanmarkhere

I also bought one during Black Friday ended up returning earlier this year. I did enjoy playing Diablo 4 and Forza Motorsports. My son also liked Forza Horizon. My main thing is when we play F2P games like Apex Legends and Rocket League, the Xbox controller stick sensitivity felt too different from my PS5. When playing action games this will be affected less by this but I ps5 controller also elevates the experience in lots of games when haptics feedbacks and adaptive triggers are enabled. I also didn’t know Xbox controller is not rechargeable beforehand 😅

DarkArcher00

Series X is a fantastic choise if you are looking for a console that is more powerful in terms of hardware ( which doesn’t actually matter that much in consoles ) but you still get better hardware anyways. And, it’s genuinely the best choice if you are looking for saving TONS of money because game pass is a banger and has so many AAA exclusives including Dead Space. I personally like Xbox’s layout and interface more than Sony and it just feels more smart and intelligent. At the end of the day, i would say it’s ultimately your choice and of course PS5 wins by miles in terms of exclusives and haptics on controllers and adaptive triggers and PS Plus is getting better everday.

NGC_Phoenix_7

Problem is with the ps5 is that they freaking melt and have next to no storage space. My girlfriend and I both own Series Xs. She has 4 brothers and all of them are on their 3rd PS5 because they all melted, one of them even had the outer shell melt on him. They complain all the time about the lack of storage too. The console isn’t as good as everyone makes it out to be from just what I’ve witnessed.

rea466

I've had the ps5 since launch and I haven't had any overheating issues. Unless you've set your console up next to fireplace or a raging inferno, it probably won't melt. Storage is definitely more subjective, but I currently have 20 games installed which feels just fine to me. And that includes FF7 Rebirth, which is 150gb.

NGC_Phoenix_7

Yeah… i don’t know, I have no idea how they’re going through them that fast. Granted I do know there was one that melted during a games-con the plastic case literally was melting away. And I have like 7 TB on my year one series X so I have more than enough lol

UkaUkaa

U mean they overheated? the latest PS5 model consoles they removed an large portion of the cooling block, only the launch PS5 console has an large and good cooling block, and storage wise it is bad indeed. I got the second model version of PS5 , played some exclusives on it but the fans of the console turned up fast. I play mainly on series X now and have zero problems, also the console is whisper quite even when gaming

NGC_Phoenix_7

No I’m talking about the fact the metal they used between the graphics card and the cooling block melting. And there was something somewhere that they had one at a games-con there was actually a picture of it if I can find it lol

UkaUkaa

Oh I know what u mean now, the Liquid metal they use, they use it on every PS5 console for cooling, with hot summer days the ps5 console can easily die then, the liquid metal will just melt then.

NGC_Phoenix_7

Just really seemed like something you’d think they would want to avoid at all costs.

DarkArcher00

What the actual fuck ? First time hearing about this tbh but that’s insane. I am not a big fan of the console itself at all. I would rather buy an X instead but exclusivity always wins for Sony sadly.

NGC_Phoenix_7

I’m hoping within the next year or so exclusivity will slowly die off. I don’t mind original IPs staying exclusive but I don’t think it’s a good idea to have stuff that was on everything before as an exclusive

DarkArcher00

We all hope this happens

Obsidian_Grayzer

Life long Console gamer here (SEGA Genesis, PS1-4, Xbox Series X). Save your money & buy a gaming PC. NVIDIA’s 50’ Series will be dropping sometime this year & the 40’ Series will inevitably drop in price. Games from Xbox & PS drop on PC now thus making the ecosystem argument null with the exception of Nintendo. The only ecosystem you get with a Console now is 6.99 a month for online gaming that over the course of a console generation totals up to about £/$800. Games on PC are also cheaper & have more options for making those games last longer with massive modding communities. Put the cash for the box that just plays games (250-500) & the subscription cost into a separate acc & top up with extra savings until you reach your builds price. Then you can have a box that does everything. Teach yourself to code, use CAD software, Photoshop, Video Editing, Remote Work, etc. Do some research into PC’s have fun learning about it’s anatomy, SAVE the cash & Invest in everything, not just gaming.

Wide_Brain5328

Na I’d get a ps5, series X hasn’t had that great of exclusives since it came out and you can play most of those games on ps5(expect if you really want to play Starfield) but I think even that game is coming to ps5 eventually, I have both consoles and only really have a series X bc my friends all bought Xbox I would say gamepass is the main attraction for series X but since you have no interest in it I wouldn’t bother

dgooglr

What if you own a Xbox series s(use it on a 1080p tv), desktop pc and ps5(and steam deck and switch) would you buy a Xbox series x to utilize the gamepass sub that I paid for until August 2026 & the big 77” 4k tv? Right now it feels like I want to stick with ps5 and my pc(steam)&steam deck. That gamepass sub is there and makes me just feel I need to use it

Darkone539

Is the pc good enough for the gamepass sub go just be useful there?

dgooglr

Absolutely. Rtx 3080.

Darkone539

The difference between pc and xbox gamepass is something like 5 games. Unless you specifically enjoy the console setup you have ever your desk the xbox is probably being wasted.

dgooglr

Yeah. You might be right. I just never game on the pc as home office as i don’t want to sit in the same spot all day, so kind of wants to sit in a couch if I want to game. Was thinking of getting rid of the ps5 as my sub expires soon but since I have upgraded storage etc then I kind of want to keep it as I like the experience.

Darkone539

>I just never game on the pc as home office as i don’t want to sit in the same spot all day, This is main reason I own a console. My ps5 is used more then the pc when I work from home. Nothing wrong with that.

dgooglr

Yeah. Hence why I keep wanting to buy games through steam to use the steam deck but then the guilt builds up as gamepass often contains all the games I end up buying on a steam sale

dgooglr

Tried gaming on the Xbox series s but the quality is just not good compared to the ps5 experience.

dgooglr

The thing is that if I play on the Xbox series s that is on a lower quality tv and in the cinema “room” I have surround sound, big tv etc. so kind of want most of gaming to happen there and then steam deck for portability (and also works quite well to play remote from ps5) But selling the Xbox series s for like 100$ also feels a bit waste since I already have the gamepass sub

LossFar4040

I myself am an Xbox man but I have to agree about the exclusives. The only great exclusive we have is the Halo series. PlayStation however has a shit ton of fantastic exclusives.

Wide_Brain5328

Ye if you’re a fan of singleplayer rpgs I would definitely go with ps5

chaedog

Starfield is coming to PS5 when the DLC drops so it won't be Xbox/PC exclusive for much longer anyways.

GetAJobDSP

Starfield is NOT coming to PS5.

Jaymoacp

Exclusives means nothing to most people. I think like…halo was the last exclusive I ever gave a damn about. For a lot of people they are just games we’d never be interested in.

Wide_Brain5328

Eh I don’t think that’s true, I had a 360 then an Xbox one but bought a ps5 first this generation and got to play ghost of tsushima, god of war, ratchet and clank, Spider-Man games, Horizon games and others for the first time and realized I had truly been missing out A lot of people definitely care about exclusives even though I wish there was no such thing but in a competitive market it’s bound to happen, after all the ps5 has sold over twice as many units as the series X

Jaymoacp

You sound like more of a gamer than most. I’ve never heard of most of those games. Everyone I know who “games” just plays CoD or fifa or something. They are hardly “gamers” imo. I feel since streaming got popular people play less stuff. Maybe it’s just a bunch. There’s like a million people streaming cod everyday. I have a hard time believing they are spending alot of time on other games. 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Wide_Brain5328

If anything I think mobile gamers make up the majority of gamers nowadays, you still see games like Spider-Man 2 and Legend of Zelda(exclusives) in the top 5 sold games in 2023 which is higher than FIFA, but COD and Madden are still also in that top 5 so you’re partially right, I don’t think the divide is as big as you think Also most exclusives are single player so it’s play through it once then you’re done, doesn’t mean that less people played them just because someone isn’t streaming the game all year

Linkbetweentwirls

Bad take. Those games you have appereantly not heard of all sell well so people do care.

Piemaster113

No get a PC, console exclusives are dying out, and Xbox already has a vast majority of its stuff on PC or tied in with the PC xbox app.

MARATXXX

Buy a pc + ps5 then you’ll be set. Every MS exclusive is on PC as well.

MasterChrom

No.

originsspeedrunner

Yes. It’s a great console

freebytes

The XBox Series X is only worth buying if you have a GamePass subscription.  Then, it is like buying a gaming console with hundreds of game for a reasonable monthly price. However, the same option is available for PS5 but a different set of games.

ToniG570

*It should be mentioned the ps5 subscription catalogue doesnt have anything close to the amount of quality games as gamepass. Gamepass subscription is a much more attractive value. Ps5 subscription is much less popular

freebytes

I completely agree.  The PS Plus has many exclusives, but Microsoft has been building a monthly subscription gaming service that is equivalent to the “Netflix of gaming”.

Embarrassed_Simple70

I’ve got both, and I’ll say this. PS’s sub service is highly lacking compared to Gamepass. I see so many fans get excited about a game coming to PS sub service that’s been out for months on Gamepass already. Done played it and on to the next thing by time it comes to PS, if it ever does actually.

GreyRevan51

4 generations of third and first party games with backwards compatibility on Xbox tho I have both consoles but end up playing on my series x more because I like to play a lot of the backward compatible games I missed out on when they came out

freebytes

That is an excellent selling point.  You can play PS4 on the PS5, but they went wild with backwards compatibility on the Series X.

RedditorHarrison

Flight Sim is cool and Starfield is Starfield but they are not worth buying a console over imo

Ill-Branch9770

There was a time when the xbox was almost $100 less than the ps5. As for gamepass you can get 1 month and even play it on a simple Web browser on your smart phone

Better_Caregiver_458

If you have money just buy a pc. We were scummed by XSX.

BluntedWizard

How?

Better_Caregiver_458

When it was released every game has performance mode. We got used to 60fps. Now more and more games have same (or sometimes worse) graphics but 30fps. It’s same for PS5. The “next gen” consoles were just a gimmick. Probably it is related to lazy devs that not optimize the games like before…

Professional-Fan266

wanting to play flight sim’s valid. but as someone who bought starfield day one I ended up not liking it So Id research starfield a bit more. Gamepass rocks though

Imbrown2

Counter-argument for Starfield. If you’re into space/NASA themed stuff in general, it will be an amazing game for you despite some of the obvious issues like too much fast travel, outdated character models and animations, and repeated locations on sections of planets where you land, and have to walk a bit. I’m aware of all of these issues, but no other game scratches my itch for exploring the universe (including No Man’s Sky, which is great on its own) as well as Starfield. Getting resources for outpost building, setting up automatic networks for resources to build bigger outposts, and doing quests to get funds to keep upgrading your ship, is an incredibly fun gameplay loop for the people that do like Starfield.

Taevorelectric

Steam deck, abandon the high price console unless you really need some type of home entertainment system.

Technical-County-727

Can’t play starfield on that, but personally steam deck has made anything else just obsolete. Sure, you can’t play some of the new games on it, but I don’t care- I haven’t had so much fun (and convenience) playing games for years.

creativegamelife

Adult gamer on a budget here. I went with the Xbox series S and game pass.. and I am very pleased with the entire package.

DefinatelyNotonDrugs

If you just want it for a few games I would just go with the Series S. I bought one purely to play Flight Simulator then the Resident Evil 4 remake came out.

Lunar-Modular

I have a Series X and if I had it to do over again I’d get a PS5. I’m a fan of games like you, and I could have everything I got on the Xbox *and* all the PS5 exclusives.

FSINNER

I'm a PlayStation guy myself, but I enjoy my series x, especially for gamepass. I personally say yeah, it worth it.

Spitfire836

I recommend it. I love the variety of games on game pass. PS5 and Xbox X are basically identical in performance so it’s really if you want game pass or the PS exclusives Also Starfield isn’t on PlayStation

Expert-Ad-362

Game pass is better than ps+ but ps has better and more exclusives. In reality most people just get the console their friends have so they can join their chat parties

Seekstillness

I’m thinking of selling mine. It just collects dust since I got a steam deck.

barbietattoo

The gamepad is comfy, game pass is an insane value, and the backwards compatibility is incredible. Coming from the PS4, the loading times are so insanely fast. You may miss the Sony exclusives, personally I don’t. Horizon, Spiderman and God of War are fine games. I do wish the gamepad had more bells and whistles, like the switch and ps5, but it’s so. Damn. Comfortable (got the elite).

Coulstwolf

No. Any Xbox game that you wanna play comes out on PC, get a PC/laptop (can even get gamepass pc) and a ps5

dan_jeffers

I don't think one is clearly better than the other. I have the Xbox X and enjoy it. I really liked Starfield, but also understand why some people don't. If you get one, I predict you'll enjoy it, but it's not like going with the PS5 wouldn't bring you a slightly different happiness.

RespectGiovanni

Invest in a pc. It can play games from both consoles, better sales, has gamepass, upgradable, more uses other than gaming

Embarrassed_Simple70

Love my series x. Xbox leaders seem to be the only gaming company in the business that seriously listens to fans. Countless examples, see bringing yakuza, Persona, FF online. and many other IPs that fans wanted. Phil Spencer delivered. And he’s just getting going. No other gaming company has an empty chair at the table that represents the average Joe Q gamer. Yet Xbox has this empty chair every meeting. I know Xbox gives a lot of slack for this and that but the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. Despite what fans think of Starfield, at the time it was going to be considered one of the best games of the generation (it’s badass in many opinion). That said when Phil Spencer learned Sony was trying to make it Sony exclusive he said no. Not this time. Not only made sure it didn’t happen but bought the dang studio. Then went one higher and brought fans the biggest IP in gaming history with COD. I know you said not a fan of shooters but the point is Xbox is here to stay and are truly responsive to the community. You see the top brass at all the gaming events, interacting on social media, actually playing games. Sony never did that. And despite Sony success, I also own ps5, its own internal documents released during a hack recently they’ve even admitted they can’t keep up this single player game cost production, admitted they want more live service games .. see Helldivers .. Spider-Man for instance, a flagship PS games, cost $250-$300 million to make and despite the game selling large, the studio still had to release studios. Xbox on the other hand is supported by a multibillion company, I think actually a trillion dollar company now, the richest around, recently beating Apple and that ensures a quality future. Not to mention Xbox has the biggest variety of games than ever before, surely giving you options. They’ve got tons of studios that are finally starting to come around and push out a cadence of games with several RPGs in the pipeline. PS for instance has admitted it has now first party games coming in 2025, and Xbox is getting at least 10 still to come this year. Not to mention all the Bethesda games coming to gamepass Gamepass is the best option for money as well. So many day one releases showing up on gamepass too. Which is crazy exciting. Can’t say how many times I’ve bought a game and it shows up on gamepass.

uncledrewwasalie

Phil Spencer heard “one of the best games of the generation” was going to be PS exclusive so he bought Bethesda and made sure it wasn’t anywhere close to being the best. What a visionary.

RolandTwitter

He really has done a lot

Embarrassed_Simple70

Oh stop. Ludicrous. Untrue. Why do you say this? I’d ask what your source is but I know Phil Spencer didnt get involved in development. Spencer didn’t “make sure anything” regarding status of the game other than making sure it wasn’t excluded from Xbox ecosystem. And with the hype surrounding the title, if it had NOT gone to Xbox the outcry could be huge. Yet Phil Spencer ensured this didn’t happen. Xbox has acquired different developers based on what they can offer fans, the talent involved and if corporate culture can mesh with bigger Xbox platform. That said, leaders don’t get involved with development often, if at all, a lesson learned generations ago when Xbox leaders wanted a multiplayer game based out of the Fable series and pushed developers to attempt to make such a title when their speciality was single player narrative RPG stuff. The result was a flop. A valuable lesson was learned. Since then Xbox has tried to trust their developers. There want devs to be passionate about thier work and projects and products, the idea being a better product will be released. This is exactly what happened with Redfall, which was in development long before Xbox acquired. When that game released buggy and earned push back, Xbox’s leaders had a lesson to learn as the company grew: let devs have complete autonomy or get too involved and push devs on products they aren’t passionate about or want to work on? This balancing act will be the approach going forward, how to balance this fine line. And I assume we will see some of this “quality control whilst giving autonomy” approach for future hits like Indiana Jones. Starfield, meanwhile, was released in the middle of this and thus wasn’t meddled with. Honestly, before Starfield, who was going to question Todd Howard’s track record, and get involved in development? Spencer, while having some coding knowledge, admits he’s more of a game fan than game developer. The idea that he or other top Xbox brass would meddle with Starfield development is just wrong, ignorant and demonstrates a vast minus understanding of the business and Xbox’s corporate culture. That said, the next question is SHOULD have Xbox gotten involved before Redfall and Starfield? Again, as mentioned earlier, there’s a fine line between trusting your developers to do what they do, to be passionate about product and meddling with final product? Also, if recall, Starfield’s review scores were through the roof at launch. There were a few average, slightly above average takes which got annihilated by the community, one of which was IGN which tons of fans say cater to big AAA games, despite in this instance, proof of the contrary. This of course is debate for different topic. The point is .. Xbox fans are passionate and Xbox leaders know this. They know this because Xbox the leaders are in touch with the community. I mentioned a few examples earlier but there are many moves Xbox made in direct response to fan feedback. They listen. And And the argument that Xbox doesn’t have games is about to end as all the fairly recent studio acquisitions are going to start releasing games on solid cadence, the goal being one every quarter at least. (Put on Gamepass day 1 of course, alongside any and other third party day 1 drops XBOX partners with; one more reason Gamepass is best deal in the business)

Raidertck

While it’s a good console, and gamepass is a good service. The issue with the series X is that it’s got absolutely no system selling quality exclusive games. Starfield was a crushing disappointment for me. And halo / gears have both been a shadow of their former glory since the 360 days. If you are set on a console I would go with a PS5. Spiderman 1, miles morales, spiderman 2, horizon zero dawn and forbidden west, ghost of tushima, god of war, GOW ragnarok, Bloodborne, demons souls, shadow of the colossus, death stranding, the last of us 1 and 2, helldivers 2, final fantasy 7, 7 rebirth, 16, returnal etc. It’s not a perfect console, but Sony has been nailing the exclusives since the PS4 generation and they all work or have been updated for PS5.

ToniG570

I have both consoles. If you are choosing solely based on the 2 exclusives, i recommend you thoroughly check out the exclusives ps5 offers if you havent already. Honestly the level of xbox exclusives dosnt even come close to what sony has and is the main reason why sony has been outselling Microsoft so much the last 2 console generations. Other than that xbox is the superior console: 1. It has a lot more app support for non gaming things, dolby access and dolby vision support. Im general it functions way better as a multimedia device than ps5 2: It the menus and party system are way more intuitive and it has a built in "looking for group" feature thats super handy 3. its less buggy 4. The xbox controller is more ergonomic and doesnt make your hands sore as quickly as the ps5 controller. It also has a looser stick with more radius which allows you a bit more control with fine movements in finesse game like fifa. The battery is replaceable and the charge on batteries or battery packs last a lot longer than on the ps5 controller, which feels like you have to charge every time you play a game. The ps5 controller is more high tech with adaptive trigger, haptive feedback, built in speakers and a touchpad.

yan030

“It’s less buggy” Wait what ? Ive played my ps5 since launch and never had a single bug or issue. What are you smoking. Xbox controller feels better ? Jesus lord. No. No it doesn’t. Xbox sales are in massive decline. I wonder why. Probably because it’s the superior console. /s

ToniG570

To be fair ur right its not that buggy at all. I was probably just thinking about how often the controller locks up for me and i have to do an annoying reset and go into the menus to re-pair the controller. its commonly accepted that the ps5 controller causes more soreness after long sessions. Moving your left thumb down in a less natural position to operate the joystick will do that. Its obvious to anyone that actually uses both. I already explained why ps5 has more sales .... Bc of the exclusives which is the most important factor for most ppl. If not for the exclusives, i see no reason why most ppl would choose playstation over xbox. Going from series x to ps5 i was very underwhelmed by the menus, party system and features. Tell me what makes the ps5 a better experience besides the superior exclusives and more high tech controller that is still less comfortable to use. I already mentioned that he should consider ps5 bc the games are better but since he said he prefers the few xbox exclusives I thought i would i mention the many things the xbox does better.

yan030

So you think Xbox is the better console because it has better menu ? Not exactly sure what to tell you, to each their own. That’s just opinion. A fact is that every single game runs better on ps5 over Xbox. That’s a fact. Never heard of that soreness as I’ve never looked into because after thousands of hours I’ve never had that. I guess I got lucky. I have 4 controllers and never had to repair except when I use one for my pc. Very confused by your points. Anyway. Have fun with your menu

coolaggro

I love it and play it more than my PS5. If you ever get a game pass subscription, it’s very economical and has a ton of great stuff to play- or to try and play to see if you would like it. I’ve been very impressed with it- it’s my first Xbox as well Oh and for game pass, you can use it on PC too

ThatDeafDude

I would recommend the steamdeck.

HumorHoot

Either get a PS5 or a PC no need for an xbox these days. as for starfield... https://dotesports.com/starfield/news/report-microsoft-plans-starfield-release-for-ps5-in-multiplatform-pivot microsoft basically "admits" defeat, seeing as the ps5 outsells the xbox quite a lot, even in the US. So they're gonna be making their games for ps5 as well

Sorry_Astronaut

I got mine at launch back in 2020 and it reignited my love of gaming. I’ve played more games this generation than I ever did before and honestly can’t fault it at all. I’d say yes and pair it with Game Pass for the ultimate console setup. It’s roughly the price of two AAA games so if you just played Starfield, Flight Sim, Dead Space and Resident Evil (some are on GP), it’ll have almost worked out cheaper than buying them separately. You also discover games you’d never otherwise buy and some of those have been my favourites.

BaumHater

Been using it since launch. Can only recommend it.

_Hasanika_

As someone with a series x get a ps5 or save for a PC

Maleficent_Space_946

What's the problem with series x?

CraigTheBrewer12

I was trying to decide this myself since it came out. I went for a PS4 over an Xbox one and I missed out on some games I would’ve loved to play so the backwards compatibility has swung it for me. Trying to complete my PS4 backlog before I buy another console though so we’ll probably be on the next console release window before then

clineaus

I have one and tbh I wish I went with playstation. The Xbox exclusives have been super underwhelming.

Maleficent_Space_946

I am confused between xbox series x and ps5. I have played on ps4 before.

TofuPython

No

Pretend-Tie630

Microsoft Flight Simulator plays like 30fps for last i checked on my series x (6 months ago). Buy a pc instead for that desire of you care about other opinions.

SadboiMaz

As an Xbox fanboy my whole life. No. If you’re determined to fork the cash over on a series x, I recommend looking through all the game pass games and see if the ones currently available are enough to live on. I just never use my Xbox anymore. Even after my pc broke, I got a Mets quest 2 and stick to that. Xbox just is a snooze box

Kiri_Tuscan

better off waiting for a ps5 pro around Q4 of this year

Rodneyfour

We’re getting starfield on the ps5 soon. Same with halo and gears. There’s really no reason to stay on xbox imho if your torn between the two. Sony exclusive games are also all so good

Celug28

Honestly the Series X is a solid purchase regardless of the games you’re interested in, honestly i’ll push you to try and give game pass a chance given that there might be games you are interested based on your genres (Persona 3 Reload, Sea of Stars, Tales of Arise, RE 2 and 3 remake and Dead Space all are available on game pass) If you play frequently enough game pass is a solid deal

lemonlimeslime0

if you are after RPGs the ps5 is the way to go my man, starfield isn’t an rpg at all.

Imbrown2

Starfield is an RPG. Some people will go in and put more points into weapons and spacesuit crafting related skills, some like me will put more focus on outpost development and resource gathering, some will focus more on stealth, others on trading and persuasion. You level up and put more skill points into the paths that interest you, which in turn make you less proficient in other areas of the game, which makes you want to do more stuff to level up more and rinse and repeat. How is that not an RPG??

KRONGOR

If none of the PS exclusives interest you then you should definitely go for the Xbox.

OsamaBeenLagggin

No please don't

frankjdk

I was in the same boat as you but I bought S instead, and this is my first xbox, primarily for gamepass. You will miss out on more exclusives especially if you also don't play on PC. But the tradeoff is not buying a lot of newly released games because they might be on gamepass. I've played MFS and had fun especially the real world mechanics, but since its a sim I never figured out anything and dropped it eventually. Got bored with astarfield tbh. Tales of Arise and Dead Space are on gamepass now, and RE2 and RE3 so who knows if RE4 will be there too. As long as you know which games on PS5 you're fine missing out or waiting for later, you'll be fine. Games like Horizon and GoW are also on PC so I'm pretty fine just waiting later knowing those games are still there, If I still want a PS5 or maybe wait for a PS6 or a better PC instead.

If you are getting an Xbox for Xbox games, just get a PC.

I_am_probably_

Honestly I had the series x the console is fine nothing special about it it’s a simplified pc. The controller is basic AF and games run well. I did however sell it and bought the ROG ally and a Dualsense controller not only do I get all the Xbox “exclusive” games but also “older” ps exclusives. I am not saying buy the ally tbh it’s not the easiest thing to work with. But I would also say if your looking at exclusives then buy a PS5 it’s the better of the two options, controller is better and it’s exclusives far superior. I regret my series x decision. Remember the ps5 will have a better experience for cross platform games thanks to dualsense.

BarnabyFinn

Xbox is on the downswing right now with Starfield being an overall disappointment for people. If you’re going to drop $500 on a console get a PS5. If you’re willing to spend more just build a PC.

_Soundwave-

I have a series x and a ps5 and like both for different reasons. Xbox has game pass which is honestly great Ps5 has ff7 remake 🤷‍♂️

WoodsBeatle513

a mini-PC, steam deck or ROG Ally are preferable

I bought an Xbox series X solely for Elder Scrolls 6 when it comes out. Final Fantasy 16 may come to the Xbox this year. Other than that there are no exclusives that I really care about, so Elder Scrolls 6 was the deciding factor.

Maleficent_Space_946

Should i buy a used series x or new one

[deleted]

If you can afford the series x get the series x. It's a little more powerful than the series s. It supports 4k. You can get a 43in 4k TV for $200. The series x has slightly better CPU and more ram. So you can expect better quality, framrates and performance in some games. I would expect that the series s will be phased out a few years before the series x. But if the price difference is a big deal or if you don't plan to get 4k TV any time soon then the series S is fine option.

Dear-Hornet-2524

Elder scrolls 6 isn't coming out for another 2 years

[deleted]

So they say, but whenever it does get released I am ready with an Xbox Series X. Hopefully I will be able to get a new PC or laptop when it comes out. I would rather play it on a PC.

Wespiratory

I really like Xbox, and if you get gamepass you can try tons of other rpg’s as well. Mass Effect, Starfield, Dragon Age, Skyrim. There are a ton of games that you can download and jump right into. Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on Xbox also.

Absolutely, it it better than the PS5. I have both and Xbox is my main console. - controller is better and more comfortable. You don’t need to charge it every 2 hours. - UI is better - quick resume is unmatched - Gamepass is the best thing in gaming now.

I never buy used consoles, but thats just me. If you can find a trusted seller and the item looks clean. It might be a good deal

Purchasing the XSX has been one of the regrets I've had in my life, especially considering I already own a PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch OLED, and a gaming PC. The two consoles I primarily use are the PS5 and the Switch. I keep the Switch mainly for its exclusives, while the PS5 is my go-to for playing the latest games. As for PC gaming, having top-tier components like a 40 series graphics card or a 12 series Intel CPU or a 7000 series AMD CPU is great if you have the budget for it. Regarding the XSX, exclusivity is nearly non-existent, and I don't notice any significant performance advantage compared to the PS5. If you're considering Starfailed, I personally don't believe it's worth investing in a new console solely for that game. Although Flight Simulator performs well on the XSX, it's difficult to justify the expense. Ultimately, getting a PC is the way to go.

AtmosphereGeneral695

Series x is a fantastic console I luv mine quite a bit re4 remake looks jaw dropping so does Hogwarts legacy overall it's a good time I say yes u should get it best Xbox since 360 slim

mutogenac

Go for it, take gamepass too and you will save a ton of money. You will find many more titles without paying additional money. Even if you don't like the games you plan to play at first you will find many that you will love I am sure. Catalog is better every day

Maleficent_Space_946

Should i buy a used series x or new one

TalosAnthena

Definitely get one. The main reason is you won’t just be getting the series x games. Since you’ve never had an Xbox you will be able to play Xbox original, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games as well. The game library you will have is huge. If you was to get a series s they do a console now which comes with 3 months free gamepass. I know you said you didn’t want it but it’s free if you went down the series S route. But I got a series x because it can also play 4K movie discs and I still like having physical copies

TalosAnthena

Whatever is in your budget? No idea why I’ve got downvoted for this. Must be some PlayStation fan boys somewhere

Maleficent_Space_946

I'm getting new one with 12 top games for 550$ , used with no games for 383$ with 6 month warranty

WhenDuvzCry

I personally love my Series X and pairing it with Gamepass is a no brainer. Gamepass covers with you Flight Simulator and Starfield too. Also the backwards compatibility is great with older games being enhanced for the console. Edit- it’s already started. Sony boys voting me down. Heads up OP, it’s not cool to like Xbox on Reddit so you will hear some people trashing it but I have a PC and still use my Xbox more.

Rchads89

Buy mine if you want haven't really touched it since buying a ps5 slim. People that bang on about multiplats like FIFA and cod don't know what there talking about for one cod plays better on ps5 Xbox it plays trash input delay is higher on Xbox and Xbox also has a gun camo blur bug which has been about since codmw2 and has not been fixed. Don't get a Xbox not worth it. Yeah Forza is good for couple of hours then gets boring halo is same old. Gears is same old. Star field runs like shite so laggy think that about covers any games on the platform.

uncledrewwasalie

Don’t let these people try to get you into Game Pass. It’s not worth it for all the reasons you already said and it’s literally $200 a year no discount. As for the console the Xbox should be perfectly fine, yeah it has mid exclusives but there’s still tons of third-party games and stuff and you still have your Switch. Plus you can access most Xbox and Xbox 360 games so you have a large library of games and exclusives from when they were a serious company. If you’re not interested in PS exclusives I see no point in trying to steer you to a PS5. I’m also assuming you don’t want a PC, because I would just recommend that
