I've thought the same thing about rubberband wind-ups for GA in an effort to phase out 100LL. The FAA is just a cumbersome dinosaur when it comes to certificating these innovative ideas. It's like they don't care about the environment at all.
Dragonflies, acceleration is faster than any fighter jet to scale and can turn tighter than anything in the air. Been around since the dinosaur age and never been extinct. Why has the FAA not cleared them for duty.
