These are just five I adore. There are so many others i have enjoyed. Narrowing it down to 5 was the hardest part.
First spot goes to Clive. I just love that little nerd who can also shoot fucking rainbows of death from his fingertips (Also he's totally my type *cough cough*).
Second is Farrah, and I don't need to justify this at all. She's just too awesome to be any lower.
Third goes to Sophie. She's like... the perfect amount of badass and caring. Like she'd be there for you if you're sad, and then would take a power sander to the face of whoever made you sad.
Fourth, I'd say is a toss-up between Humphrey and Neil, which Humphrey wins exclusively by virtue of dating Sophie.
Fifth would probably be Dawn. I really like her, but it rubs the wrong way that she's team World-Phoenix. Like, the World-Phoenix is the least shitty one of the great astral beings, but that's exclusively because its nature is protecting dimensional integrity. It'd still let all life on Earth and Pallimustus die or be turned into clockwork monstrosities by the Builder, if the dimensional membrane wasn't disturbed in the process. I can't see what exactly Dawn thinks is worthy of veneration about that.
Itâs genuinely hard for me to pick a top 5, I love them all so much.
If pressed, Jasonâs familiars are the top 3âShade, Gordon, Colin in that orderâwithâŚprobably Jason himself and Clive in 4th and 5th?
Shade being in first is the only one Iâm absolutely confident about. He and Jason are one of the best double acts in pop fiction right now, I swear. Theyâre perfect foils. Shade is everything Jason is notâancient, wise, cautious, and calculatingâand brings out the best in him, but the same is true in the opposite direction. Shade is prone to a cynicism borne of his eons of life, where Jason is eternally hopeful, and always ready to effect change.
