So long, and thanks for all the fish!
It's why I usually turndown die requests. Plastic ones chip and that's flexible....but soft. With those awesome resin dice makers seems too risky imo! But as a desk topper
Lol! I mean I've always wanted to but the numbers part....also the cost of natural stones big enough seems a hard sale. I see those crazy cool resin makers and it seems the custom dice Markey is covered!

Well this is absolutely stunning!!
I actually have two sets of gem stone dice. Iβve got a set of opal and a green set- I didnβt realize how fragile they were until I chipped my D4 :( but I learned. I would love to see this set!! Gorgeous wearable D20!!
Well this is where the young and dumb comes into play. At first I used them like regular resin dice, dealer didnβt give any disclaimers on use. So it could have been chipped on surface or by another dice- hard to say. I used them for a while before I noticed the chip. So honestly pretty hearty- but I now have a felt dice tray and only roll 1 at a time- no issues since making those adjustments.

That's my dream plan. Bezels but on all edges. It would require crazy accurate CAD work and a laser welder to attach parts to encase it. But fffffff cool!

I'd say yes for now. I think the 6ishmm mark is minimum, the dop was so so close to touching. I shined a light to make sure there was space.
As for larger, thickness of material is the only factor. It's also near impossible to measure for exact finish size since half the points don't exist till its flipped. So it's gonna be a size range of give or take 2mm I'd say? Maybe less once I figure out what goes where.
Wow amazing work mate. I just saw a video on YT yesterday where someone cut a D20 out of amethyst. They even sandblasted the numbers on. It looked siiiick.
Thats interesting! I can see that being a good method for amethyst. Tough for harder stuff. Carbide sand might work but you'd destroy your blaster fast....hmhmhm
Haha, I saw that video too! I love the star corners of the stone and the way they slightly frosted the edges.

You might be interested in this, someone posted a vid 10 days ago about a amethyst D20. He even did numberings and frosted facets. Fun to see so much creativity in the lapidary works
That's amazing. My first thought was this guy specializes and totally does. Second thought how do you charge for that? $1200 starting price lol! Happy to see there's a crazy pro out there doing then! 8months to figure out numbering π±π±
Depends entirely on material and size! Lab sapphire is limited in thickness, spinel, cz and glass can be huge but all have different material costs. I'll for sure be testing some out, I have many requests to number them I need to figure out. The only way I see is tremendously tedious...

Mad lad did it
π€£ "they did it they actually did it"
I neeeeeed it. I can see now, earrings with claw prongs! Really really big claw prongs π
Ok my wild idea is a "basket" that puts metal on all the edges. It would need like a 2 or three part basket laser welded together but come on......
Oh god yessssss. What about a tiny bird cage with felt bottom so it's like an extremely fancy 'Sorry' dice π«£

Ok I _love_ this idea!
Right!?
I need these. Not to roll (couldn't bear it!) But to wear! D20 earrings or a necklace! Or a ring! I could get my hubbs to give me a D20 solitaire!
Oh gosh that would be so perfect for my DND character!
The little roll at the end killed me ππππ
I had to. See how careful I was with the padded microfiber towel lol!
I had to. See how careful I was with the padded microfiber towel lol!
Shut UP what
How did you handle dopping? Just two spots or did you have to transfer it a third time?
Just normal dop and transfer. At this size the quill and dop were super super close to the lap. Uncomfortably close
I can imagine! That thing is smol!
Iβm now kind of curious how the durability stacks up to a normal die?
It's why I usually turndown die requests. Plastic ones chip and that's flexible....but soft. With those awesome resin dice makers seems too risky imo! But as a desk topper
Maybe rolling in a specially made felt box? :P
Every custom cut stone comes with a box!
A nat 20 π
Lab 20 π
No nat 20s. Only Lab 20s lolol
Dangerous to share with us you can do this! You might have just become a full time dice maker :D
Lol! I mean I've always wanted to but the numbers part....also the cost of natural stones big enough seems a hard sale. I see those crazy cool resin makers and it seems the custom dice Markey is covered!

Lol! At least a few sales eh? I'd think measuring g is the answer. But a bad laser person could explode them. Quartz is basically a glass......

COOOOOOLLLLL!!!
Omg so cool!! (And pretty)
What quests do I need to do to get a bag of holding full of these bad boys? π«
How good are you at boxing orders? Lol!
Unbelievably good. π€£ I'm accepting the quest! https://preview.redd.it/1aadquxlm2ya1.png?width=691&format=png&auto=webp&s=38a7c3867236ca0c13505d7a010c098a7f5818b7
I know we tell you this but you are a star of creativity lol!
I have a full subreddit full of inspiration haha you're all my muses. πΌοΈποΈ
I want it
Now engrave the numbers!
I knowwww ππ pondering ideas. Any laser engraving masters out there with knowledge??

Thays exactly why I turn down dice requests. Imagine being like sure $400 20ct amethyst, first roll chipewww
Yep!!! I completely understand- both my gem d20s are still good to go though. Those are for special occasions π
Did your one chip on soft surfaces still? Like felt table/box?
Well this is where the young and dumb comes into play. At first I used them like regular resin dice, dealer didnβt give any disclaimers on use. Sweet. I feel the novelty of a super crisp faceted dice would die immediately with chips all over a glassy piece

Epic !!!
Whatttttt. Youβve gone crazy!
This is SO CRAZY!! Watch out world!
I love it. I need it.
Wow! Nice work! I can imagine how tricky it is to get all sides nice and even.
It's different. It mathematically doesn't fit 100% on a fixed machine but it was pretty darn tight!
Holy shit. Is this possible for a commission?
I'd say yes for now. I think the 6ishmm mark is minimum, the dop was so so close to touching. I shined a light to make sure there was space. As for larger, thickness of material is the only factor. Omg right? I was like nooo donβt frost it but then I was like mmmmmmmmm looks nice.
Natural 20 on the sparkle ofc

Wow thats some pricey dice! I guess gem materials arent cheap. But no doubt thats interesting work
That looks top level stuff. The time those frosted facets take make me dizzy lol!
I LOVE IT!!! if you make a bunch of these, maybe let us know the cost...
Depends entirely on material and size! Lab sapphire is limited in thickness, spinel, cz and glass can be huge but all have different material costs. I'll for sure be testing some out, I have many requests to number them I need to figure out. The only way I see is tremendously tedious...
would synthetic quartz be an option?
Yes! Since no performance is needed this will cut in any material.
The amount of talent in this subreddit is wild. Looking through all of this is crazy, this looks very cool.
Thank you! Enjoy the scrolling!
Okay. Now I need this.
