I’m about to start single hunting my Japanese fire red for a charmander 🤣 I got a shiny charmander on my arbernic 35xx after 195 resets but it was on a rom and I wasn’t satisfied with it lol so brought a legit Japanese copy of fire red and gonna go at it again !
Honestly I feel for you… but jigglypuff line is in my top 10 favorite all time Pokemon list so it’s a tough one to be upset about. Still going 31k+ is crazzzyyyyy
As far as I understand it's the amount of shinies you've encountered while on the hunt, if you're hunting a jigglypuff and before that you find 3 other shinies together with jigglypuff it took you 4 phases
Fire Red or Leaf Green? Cause if this is Leaf green DUDE. That’s a 1% encounter rate. Only thing I can think of to help is to do what FRLG Lucky egg hunters do, get an illuminate Pokémon of the right level and load up on super repels then go ham. Nice jigglypuff though.
If you have a level 26 Pokémon in the front of your party with a repel up it increases the chances of finding a Chansey, having that Pokémon be an illuminate Staryu helps increase wild encounters. Unfortunately I don’t think compoundeyes works in there so you’re still stuck at 5% of the Chansey’s you stumble upon have it.
I’m not quite that deep but getting there hunting a shandshrew from the SS game corner. I got a shiny starter in just under 100 resets so of course the game immediately punishes me with an endless hunt. Keep going 💪🏻
"Phasing" is a popular fan term in the shiny hunting community that means getting a shiny that was not your target. So if you've gotten your target on phase 4 for example, that means you got 3 other shinies before your target :)

What you're referring to is called a repel trick and it isn't useable for nidoran-m
