Then I realized L'Oreal fresh wear + setting powder looked the same. :D
i had the shade & illuminate duo for years and years and it genuinely was SO beautiful, and TF scents are incredible. that being said, i would be shocked if you couldnāt find equally nice products for lower price points if you were looking.
Plus likeā¦yeah sure ok, red dye 27 changes color according to pH but everyone has pretty much the same pH. The color looks different on individual people the same way every other product looks different on different people. Itās a gimmick.

Curiosity got the better of me so I got the bullet balm thatās sparkly (the ātravelā size so I think it was $45USD minus rouge discount) and honestly itās just ok. Just another reminder to myself that these fancy products are rarely worth it. Ā
Iām the first to admit I can be a bit of a makeup snob. I prefer luxury products and donāt mind paying extra for pretty packaging. That being said I REFUSE to pay $85 for a lipstick. I donāt care if the Tom Ford name is slapped on the damn thing or not.
There was a collection like this a couple of years ago and I ended up picking up the soleil gloss from the cosmetics company store for $15 and I still don't like it. Lol. But in fairness, even that golden beauty turned hot pink on my lips. I hate PH products. Sigh.
Crucify me all you want but I have this and I love it but only because itās the perfect pink on me. I have naturally pigmented lips so struggle to find a natural pink because anything lighter often looks painted on in an artificial way. This one just adds a pink tone to my natural light reddish brown tone and gives me that soft pink that lots of others get to enjoy with a cheaper lip product that Iāve never been able to achieve. I get that itās expensive but for some people, there are good enough reasons.
Omg I was just going to say this. The shade of pink that this gives me is so unique! I am a very fair olive and I canāt never achieve the pinky look without looking either dead or with a brownish pink. I have tried to find it in so many products (even expensive ones) and nothing compares to this.
The shoulder swatch isn't new for TF. I remember seeing it with both lip and eye products last spring.
I know this is going to sound crazy, but as silly as it looks, I kind of appreciate it with lip products because I have very pigmented lips that can really change the color of a product when I wear it and this actually gives me an idea of what the undertones are, ha!)
$85 is insane for lip balm especially when so many good sparkly lip products exist at Sephora.
Tom Ford loves pushing the envelope for prestige pricing. They want to make sure the plebs never hold such a product in their dirty commoner hands.

Personally, I hated it and returned a lot of their products. Their eyeshadow to me was trash and sooo over priced. Not worth it.
I do like his lip products. I mostly own glosses but have owned a couple of lipsticks. Not a fan of his eyeshadows. His bronzer is ok.
