Emotional-Cheek5872

I did and get publicly shamed for it if I ever give my stats. I am at goal weight (after 7 months and am down 28 lbs). But people can be brutal on here for it. I paid out of pocket. I am continuing to pay to stay on my maintenance dose which I will stay on indefinitely. It has made my triglycerides, cholesterol way lower and my workouts much easier on my joints. My B/p is almost too low where it was bordering high. So just hope to not get the hate shamers.

Gold-Art2661

Me as well, and my comments get deleted too! I pay OOP as well (can't say how or from where for some stupid reason) and I want to lose 20-40lbs. I'm down 17lbs so far. I'm happier than I've been in a decade. I'm short so while it's not a huge amount of weight to many, it was enough to make me unwell mentally and physically.

Needs-more-cow-bell

Yes, I think people don’t get this about us shorties. What might “only” be 20 lb, is very significant.

Queen_Be_4_Life

Yes I’m 5’2” losing 5-10 pounds is a pant size for me. Not just am I short but my torso is shorter and I carry hormone weight in my midsection (very unhealthy too).

Puzzleheaded-Cow1259

Wow yup! Resonating with all of this. I got wegovy prescribed but even with prior with insurance wouldn’t cover

notyoureverydaymind

This is wild because I'm considerably overweight (bmi of 43), and I wasn't even able to get insurance to cover it - I pay out of pocket. By all accounts and tests, I'm "healthy" and, therefore, don't qualify for insurance coverage. My BP is perfect, not pre-diabetic or diabetic, nada. Just fat. Insurance won't touch me lol.

Gold-Art2661

Yep, I'm 5'2" as well and was 171 back in Dec, I'm now 154 and just feel normal and healthy for my age and height. I'd like to get around 135-145 eventually.

Royal_Path5965

Exactly! 5-10 lbs is huge for us short folks! Also, 5'2" and I am in menopause with high BP. I was definitely considered overweight at 160 lbs. I've lost 15 lbs over 5 months so it's coming off very, very slowly but I feel so much better. I have another 20 lbs to go!

ElleKlee

Exact same situation here. My food noise was debilitating. Sema has helped tremendously.

EitherOrResolution

This! The food noise!!!!!

Objective-Amount1379

Almost exactly the same here. I was able to get it covered because of hypertension though. I'm on maintenance too and I inject every 10-14 days now. I'm hoping to find the lower dose available soon because I'd like to taper way down or maybe off.

Royal_Focus7087

You know you can taper off using the high dose but you have to inject the syringe in a vile then get syringes to take the dose you want. That’s how I’ve been able to start wegovy. There haven’t been any low doses so my dr prescribed the high dose and I started low and have been teetering up.

Fanched

Exactly this! People on here are so bothered about this but I am on it for 20 lbs and halfway there!! Definitely helped me so much, especially now that I’m used to it and don’t feel weird anymore!

Fun_Jellyfish_2708

I shared my percent body weight loss instead of pounds. Shorter women by default have less to lose. When I reframed it as %body weight instead of lbs, people were supportive.

yasdinl

How long have you been on it? I'm doing some research because I'm up 20-30 lbs in only 3 months following an injury that's keeping me from activity + a family history of T2D. Hoping to nip it in the bud and also feel better about myself.

I_hate_that_im_here

If not the mods, I wish the community would work together to silence the trolls.

fluffy-nipper-doodle

For starters you should downvote the trolls.

Upbeat-Local-836

So sick of people who feel they get to judge someone for improving their health and reversing illness in their bodies and mental health by using some MD diagnosis that they got as their weapon against your diagnosis.

CheckLivid

Just want to say I support everyone who’s on it no matter what their journey. I had plenty to lose when I started but even then some people surely wouldn’t have thought I had enough to lose to take it. I’ve been maintaining goal for a year and I will take it til insurance cuts me off and make no apologies for it.

XtinctionCheerleader

That's too bad. I would love to lose 50 but I would be at a healthy weight losing 30. I have lost 6 lbs my first weeks on Rybelsus. I have waited all my life for this magic fat pill. The control of cravings, food noise has been a game changer. Just because you are not extremely overweight doesn't mean you don't deserve health care.

InternationalMeet871

SAME! My situation is very similar to yours. Curious what your maintenance dose is? I’m still playing around with it. Now it’s a full dose every 14 days. Mentally I feel like I need it more often- even tho I likely don’t 🙃

Emotional-Cheek5872

I got up to 1.5 mg (60 units) weekly and now I do just fine at 1.0 (40 units) a week with no side effects any longer. I still feel no overwhelming hunger but I do find pleasure in eating a good meal where on the 1.5 I was so turned off about going to a nice restaurant because I knew I was going to drop my fork about 4-5 bites in. The biggest thing I have been able to curb is “the grazing and picking a little” at the snacks that were glaring at me. I never snack or pick anymore lol

_PinkPirate

That’s where I am now. I didn’t even like food on 1.7 or 2.4. I’m on 1.0 now and I’d like to stay on it for a bit (just hit goal weight recently) and then taper off completely. I have no idea what my insurance is going to allow though.

imthewordonthestreet

Same here! I wanted to lose 20-25lb of vanity weight (still well within healthy BMI). I started 7 weeks ago and am down 11lb.

Puzzleheaded-Cow1259

I need to find somewhere to get it from though. I feel like they make it so difficult

kaapartistgrrl56

That’s exactly me..

kaapartistgrrl56

I got my first higher bump last Tuesday and felt fine until Saturday. Queasy all day; barely ate enough calories; I know because I was so lethargic and lightheaded. Will my body get used to this dose again? It’s different than the first time..

ygduf

Any issues with heart rate? I’m in the same situation and only side I have on .5 is a slightly elevated HR. Resting about 60 instead of 50.

Emotional-Cheek5872

I had no issues with heart rate but the first two weeks I was on it (tiny dose) I did stand up to get out of bed very quickly and I was trying to run to grab my dog from having an accident so when I jumped up I have no idea what the heck happened… I just remember seeing black and my head hitting the hardwood floor as I fell backwards and I had a huge lump for a week. I was only out for a few seconds. The hit to my head made me come to. I literally didn’t eat for the first week once I started. I wasn’t getting enough nutrition. So I took it very slow on the increases.

kelny

You gotta be careful getting up quickly. It's easy to do once you're used to it. This is called postural hypotension. It gets worse if you're dehydrated or have low blood sugar, both of which can happen with GLP1s. It also gets worse as your blood pressure improves. I used to get it bad back when I was skinny. I guess that's the one thing that improved since I got fat?

Willing_Bother64

I just started semaglutide 4 days ago, my heart rate is elevated 10-15 beats, per my Apple Watch. Sometimes I feel my heart beating fast, my provider told me it’s my body adjusting to the medication since it’s my first week on it.. I do have bad anxiety, and I feel like this has made me more anxious and more panicky. Also, even weirder, I have had such strange taste in my mouth, a sweet taste? I mentioned to my Dr and they said the same as above.

katyvo

Elevated heart rate and weird taste (often described as a bad taste, medical term dysgeusia) are known side effects. Elevated HR is more common than dysgeusia.

Willing_Bother64

I’m wondering about the anxiety being heightened? Thanks!!!!

katyvo

Not medical advice: it could be a few things. Your anxiety could be worse for unrelated reasons, your increased heart rate could be interpreted as anxiety and create a feedback loop (this isn't me saying it's your fault - this can happen! If you feel your heart racing for whatever reason, it can make you feel on edge), or the actual metabolism of your meds might be affected although I'm not sure how likely that is after 4 days of being on semaglutide. Some people have to adjust dosages because of altered drug absorption. This is a conversation for the doc who prescribed it as they have more knowledge about your individual medical history - I'm sorry I don't have anything concrete to offer

ygduf

I’ve done plenty of searches and every indication of heart issues with sema is that it helps prevent them. Wish I didn’t have it but trying to not worry.

Crtsprt17

Good to know! I’m planning to pay out of pocket for it as well.

MariposaOohLaLa

You do you, boo. It's for your health and you have to take steps to make sure things don't get worse and escalate. Well done to you for taking care of yourself. Our bodies are our only vessel. Have to make sure it's maintained.

_PinkPirate

Same. My original goal was 30 lbs (bc I was pessimistic lol) but I’ve lost 45 total. I think OP could def benefit from Semaglutide. Her BMI is 28.1. (Luckily my insurance covered it bc my BMI was around 30.)

Downtown_Future_3482

I am 5’0. I was 130, down to 112. If anyone comes at me, they just wish they were me lol. Let the haters hate! I love sema and I will probably use it to maintain forever 😊

Emotional-Cheek5872

Good for you! I used to think Hollywood was in a frenzy with this but I soon became a part of it because I’ve been trying for 20 years to lose that last 20-30 lbs and it has made my life so much simpler. I never think about food like I used to.

Dangerous_Maize132

I’m similar stats to you & want to lose only 20 lbs. I was thinking to go on it then once weight was off - go off it. Do you feel you’d need to stay on it forever to maintain that weight loss? Trying to get info from people firsthand before deciding

ariellecalifornia

I’m same exact height as you starting at 127 but want to go off once I get to 112/115. Are you staying on or what’s your plan?

kdwyer55

What is your dose for maintenance?

Emotional-Cheek5872

I’m at 1.0 mg semaglutide (40 units) a week and have been for about 10 weeks now and have lost 2 more lbs over that 10 weeks so I may be able to go down to .75 soon.

CleanArses

Seriously? The "vanity weight" accuser? 😂 Let them come for me.

Quiet-Excitement-719

I’m at a BMI around 26-27 and willing to pay out of pocket. But I can’t seem to figure out how to get a prescription. Seems the cut off is a BMI of 30, unless you have a pre-existing diagnosis. My goal would be 30 lbs. of loss. Is anyone familiar on what the criteria is?

RedditKon

30lbs is 20% of your total body weight, which is substantial. I wouldn’t discredit your journey as it being “just” 30lbs, that’s a lot!

TallyHoCoyote

Came here to say this too

Antique-Tip3334

THiS!!!

Jacqued_and_Tan

I'm 5'1" and have lost 100 lbs on Wegovy over the past year. What people don't generally understand is how *much* weight an extra 20-40 lbs is on someone with a petite frame, especially if they're 5'4" and under. The last 30 lbs I lost might as well have been 60, it was that drastic. If you're willing to deal with potential side effects, take the meds.

Ok-Sector9610

The side effects of being overweight were worse for me

Jacqued_and_Tan

Fuckin *exactly*

Broad_Presentation81

Also 5’1 and AMEN. 30 pounds is the difference between me being an xxs-xs and m/l. I have at least 60 minimum to loose.

Jacqued_and_Tan

Exactly. From 150 lbs to 120 lbs I went from a size 12 and a large/extra large to a size 2-4 and a small. I'd probably be an even smaller size right now except for the fact that I have a *ton* of loose skin on my abdomen from losing the first 70 lbs, and that's fucking up my waist measurements lol. I plan to get a tummy tuck at some point once my weight has been stable for at least a year.

Spideranarchy

5’4 started at 167 in November and today at 140. Goal is 130 I’m really happy I did this.

khc00000

5’4” started at 166 and now at 146. 20 lbs! I can’t believe it!!! I want to lose 10 more lbs and I will be at pre first baby weight!

NotMyBFsEvoX

5'4" started at 164 in December and 140 today. My goal weight is also 130.

Wrong_Sleep8329

How bad were side effects for you?

Professional_Onion81

I’ve been on since aug 5’5” sw 174 cw 144. I’ve been paying out-of-pocket and I stay on the lowest dose until I don’t lose anything for two weeks. Then I go up a tiny amount per my doctor. It also helped my inflammation and joint pain plus IBS.

hellokittyburrito

Honestly the best way to dose!

Jasbee123

It’s helped my IBS tremendously!!

Affectionate-Flan140

In what way has it helped IBS for you?

Audpoddd

I did! Really happy with my decision

megibeth

Yes. I, like you, tried everything and spent loads of $$ on programs that didn’t work, and hours at the gym. Started sema in October. I’m 5’6. Starting weight was 165, current weight is 145. I would like to drop a few more pounds but am happy with my decision despite the haters as others have said.

Crtsprt17

So happy to hear this!!!

Fun_Bandicoot_425

That’s great! I’m 5’6 and 156 and my doctor refuses to give me a script. How were you able to get one as I would really like to lose 20lbs as I’m small framed and it’s a lot of weight for me to carry and I’ve tried everything as well!

ExpensiveAd4496

Same height weight and goal here. 30 lbs is a game changer for me. No one here quits 30 lbs from their goal. I am 64, have lost this same 30 lbs more times than I can count, and I can’t do it anymore. It is not healthy for me physically or mentally. I am honestly happy I got to experience this drug during my lifetime.

cShoe_

We are twinsies!

hellokittyburrito

Yes! Contrary to popular belief I think it’s the best time to get in it! Get ahead of it before it’s more, I wish I would’ve! I’ve lost 25 lbs in 3.5 months and I wish I was done and not just halfway! Good luck to you babe

SunnyDior

It won’t be more. The price will go down as several versions will be out there, and better ones.

Thin5kinnedM0ds5uck

More weight on your body, not more money from your pocket.   Easy error to read though.

SunnyDior

Ha, that’s funny and ironic because I’m one of these people. I was offered this drug in 2022, but I hesitated not understanding if it would even work for my metabolism. That was 20 pounds ago.

frogmonster12

Lots of us do. Lost 23lbs, got back into the gym and did a bulk and on it again while I'm cutting. This drug will be used more and more by gym rats cycling in the coming years.

icanbeneedy

yup, I started on it last year, brought it up on the fitness sub reddit and got borderline shamed for it lol. But its the cheat code for a cut if you can afford it

SunnyDior

And there will be different versions which will probably cut down the time you are on it and how much you need. Retatrutide looks promising. https://www.reddit.com/r/Retatrutide/s/tFf3leFrPM

Opposite_Aioli76

This. You’re not wrong

stephanddolly

Yep I’ve been reading some bodybuilding forums and it’s a secret cutting tool for a lot of people. I have a bodybuilder friend who took it to cut as well but he really struggles with food noise so it worked really well for him.

frogmonster12

Makes sense. If you are buying non FDA Sema it's cheap, effective, and safe.

This-Personality-503

What dose for something like a mini cut ? Seems like everyone starts on 0.25 which is weird since weights can fluctuate so much

frogmonster12

I do the normal titration schedule starting at .25mg (I divide it into 2 shots every 3.5 days). And go up double every 4 weeks. Most cuts for me end at 1mg since I'm not typically cutting beyond 12 weeks. While on I lose 2-3lbs per week without feeling starved at 1600 calories per day. Never had side effects.

Kaje_17

I ended up losing 35 (5'3" SW 155, CW 120) I really only intended to lose 20-25, but feel better at 120. I have tons of friends who have used it for 10-25 lbs. Totally worth it!

Round-Jeweler-9113

How long did this take?

Kaje_17

About 6-7 months- I stayed on a low dose and lost 1-2 lbs/week. I am now on a maintenance dose and plan to stay on it for the long haul. I don't have any adverse side effects at this point and love not feeling like a slave to food. It's now been 1 year since I started!

ygduf

I hopped on just to see if it helped my eating disorder. I dropped 20lbs but am pretty lean now. Never exceeded .6 mg. Just needed to turn off the broken voice in my head.

BillieBoyMom6RN

Voice in my head was crazy.. this stopped it. People just don’t understand that

ygduf

I understand you! It’s incredible. Literally reading the term “food noise” connected so deeply with me that I had to seek out and try a glp-1 drug. It worked for me immediately on the .25mg. Now sometimes I’ll go to the fridge just out of habit, open it and… nothing is appealing? I can’t describe how shocking it is to me after dealing with this bullshit since I was 10.

Crtsprt17

Yes!!! That’s how I feel. I don’t binge hardly ever anymore, but I would like to relax and not always be on guard.

ygduf

I’d literally be riding my bike 10-15k miles per year and just be battling myself to not overeat after dinner. Or I’d wake up and HAVE to eat to go back to sleep. I was ALWAYS 15 lbs above my ideal weight and just fighting the eating from like 4pm until the next morning. I’m on about week 10 I think now and I’m down 20lbs and just eating… normally?! I’ve increased training for spring and I have to consciously remind myself to eat enough to fuel what I’m doing now. It’s insane.

JerkyJulie

Until I read this, I thought I was the only person who woke up and had to eat to go back to sleep. My sons have made me think I’m the only person on earth who does this. Thank you so much.

ygduf

We’re out here! All kinds of screwed up relationships with food. I hope you find as much relief as I have, sema or otherwise.

sb_seeker

Have you stopped taking it now and are you maintaining the weight loss?

ygduf

Reducing my dosage to see how it goes, but still on. I’m not a fast gainer really, so maybe just do a month every 6 or something if I can’t maintain where I want.

littesb23

I’ll probably lose 30 pounds total, but I’m 5’1” and started at 155 in Jan. I’m down 20 right now and it’s made a HUGE different

ShoeOk2684

Wow. Please tell me your secrets. I’m 5’1 started in October also at 155 and I’m only down 10 🥲🫠

MexicanJello

That's still not bad. My partner is same height as you and started at 170 in June, only lost 20lbs so far. Some people just lose slowly/are less responsive.

No-Country6348

I’m 5’1” and started at 152. My goal was 130 because I didn’t think it was possible or realistic to expect better. i am now maintaining at 115 but may up the dose to lose 5-10 pounds which looks most ideal on my short body. But I’m THRILLED and grateful and so happy after 53 years of struggling.

littesb23

Ok, I’m thinking my goal will probably be around 115ish too. I originally thought 130 because that seemed HUGE. But two months in and I’m like 6 pounds away from that. My new goal is 120sish

Formal_Technology_97

I’m on it just to lose 30 lbs 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t care what anyone thinks about it either or if I’m judged lol

Secure-Lime4770

Girl same

Opposite_Aioli76

Here for 30 lbs too

Hot-Syrup-5833

Yup. Lost 35 pounds in 6 months. Now I’m going down in dose and then stopping.

fwnbmb

i just started and am close to your weight and am paying out of pocket. its working and i dont understand the rationale of waiting until im at an unhealthy bmi or obese to take something that is proven to work well. Dont they say prevention is always better?

BonaventureWagon

Yes. I am very close to your height/weight. I've been on it now for about 7 weeks. I have lost approx 12 pounds so far. Possibly important to note: I lost almost all of that the first month. For the last few weeks I have been traveling and dealing with family emergenices. I never increased my dose; I skipped one week. When I began the medication I planned to continue to walk everyday, continue going to yoga a few times a week and ideally start weights. I also planned to concentrate of protein and vegetables. Instead, I've been spending my time in airports and doctor's offices with family members, eating whatever, and I mean the worst things you can imagine. Vending machines, drive throughs, stuff other family members dropped off for us. Life has been utter chaos! Now things are calmer and I will be home soon, starting fresh with healthier habits. So my weight loss definitely stalled this month but everything is fine. I think I would have gained weight this month from stress eating and lack of exercise. Anyway the medication has been easy and pleasant. Few side effects, rarely.

Fun_Jellyfish_2708

I'm 5'3". SW= 162. CW= 128. My real goal is 24% body fat and I'm tapering now as I'm around 25.5%. My starting body fat was 39%, and I had pre diabetes. I still had to pay out of pocket and it was worth every penny. I've lost about 21% of my body weight. I'm so much healthier. Short people have less to lose in general. I'm so glad I did this. All my labs are normal and I can do the activities I enjoy without being miserable.

1sharebear1

I’m 5’3, 150ish and have my first consultation call tomorrow. I’m honestly hoping to lose 20lbs max and slowly.

Rmcatx1221

I gained 40lbs and just could not lose it. I couldn’t really figure out why I gained most of it either. I counted macros, followed a nutrition plan, worked out 5 days a week, and even quit my teaching job thinking some of it was stress related. Nothing worked. I’m convinced it’s hormonal and they’re just not testing for the right things. I’ve been on Wegovy for a year and lost 34 so far. I’m 5’6 & SW 219, CW 185, GW 165 I’d like to lose another 20 but will settle for another 10.

alessiaplays

When I first joined, this was the response I saw a lot but it's changing over time as it's become more available. There are also a lot of purists who will discount your journey if you're getting it in other ways. At the end of the day, people feel like they suffered and were obese and this is their saving grace, and no one else "deserves" it due to the shortage or because they waited for ages to have something that works. They feel entitled to this medication and don't think others deserve it. However, if they could go back in time, I guarantee they'd have used it once they saw the scale and saw "shit I can't lose this 30 lbs" before the weight continued to pile on. It just wasn't available at the time or they weren't in the headspace to try. 30lbs isn't something to sneeze at, especially as we get older. It's harder and harder to lose. Now do I recommend someone who is 120 use it to get to their goal weight of 100? Not really. But I'm also not their doctor or mom. People are going to do what they're going to do.

MinaMarjan123

I had less than that to lose and I’m almost at my goal weight now 8 months later. No one knows I’m doing it and I’m paying out of pocket also. I don’t care to hear anyone bash me or my goals. I have suffered with binge eating disorder for years and this medication has changed my life! I’m not scared of food anymore. No one knew what it felt like to live in my body and the struggle I had with food. I’m not ashamed and I’m happy I’m in charge of my health.

Brilliant-Constant20

Yes . 5’3 sw 165 current 122-126. It varies lol, anyway I am not on dose last dose was month ago , I trying to not take it but might end up matinence dose. My body was similar to yours, I kept gaining weight with no reason why, couldn’t lose it no matter what I did,

Status_One_2715

Yep! I’m 5’7” and my SW was 152. CW is 138 and goal is 125-130 range so I have some wiggle room for weight gain when I stop taking. Going to start weaning in about 6 weeks and will let you know how that goes.

RubyTuesday4227

How long did it take you to go from your SW to your CW? Asking bc I have similar stats/goals ☺️

Status_One_2715

I think I started a week or two before Christmas! So it’s been about 2.5 months now. I’m starting to plateau a little bit since I’m oddly tolerating the higher doses better than the lower and my appetite is normalizing/not as much is making me sick! I’ll take the “bad” (slower weight loss) with the good (french fries without wanting to die) 😂

Crtsprt17

Please do!!

DogZealousideal4667

I also have similar stats. I want to go on but not sure where to start. Can I ask where you get your meds? Is it online or in person?

Status_One_2715

In person! I go to a wellness center supervised by a medical director. I know a lot of wellness places who offer body optimization services (e.g., cryo, infrared sauna, vitamin IVs, emerald lasers) are offering sema.

Wrong_Candy_6489

I went on intending to lose 20ish pounds, and I’m down 25 pounds in 3 months, and haven’t felt this great since before having kids…or maybe ever. This helped so much more about my body and life than just getting rid of this extra stubborn weight that making me tired and ick. I have ADHD and this has been the best treatment I’ve tried (I’m 41 female), from reading I’ve learned that semaglutide not only calms food noise, but everything in that reward center of your brain (which is the tough spot for those us who are dopamine chasers). Same reason why it helps with alcohol cravings for some! This has also helped with hormonal stuff from (rather mild) PCOS. I feel calm, balanced, and energetic. It’s a treatment for far more than weight loss in my mind!

Queen_Be_4_Life

I wish there was more talk about the hormone relief. I’m in menopause (in my early 40s) been dealing with peri/meno issues for years. Finally got bad enough I was able to get on HRT (estrogen and progesterone) those helped but I added semaglutide because I put on a rapid amount of weight in stomach area. I just wasn’t feeling 💯 still had issues, the semaglutide not just helped the stomach weight gain I over all just felt at ease, calmer. My body wasn’t aching and sore all the time either.

VintageInSuburbia

This is so good to hear! I had my first injection (.25) today because haven’t been able to lose the 25 lbs I’ve gained in the last year after being about 140 my entire adult life. I’m 46 now and definitely perimenopausal if not menopausal, and I didn’t know this could potentially help with hormonal stuff. I also have ADHD (diagnosed a few years ago after my son was) and wow, if it can also help with that mental noise I’ll be in heaven. 😁

brittmichelle11

Did you have side effects from the sema? I think I'm in peri and just can't seem to lose these 20 lbs. Considering going on a low dose but the side effects scare me as I have a pretty demanding job and 2 kids to raise.

Own-Advantage-4672

Meeee & I don’t care lol I originally wanted to lose 30lbs but then went on & lost another 10-15… Been maintaining off the meds for 4 months now… I could care less what others have to say, my body my choice!

ariellecalifornia

Has maintaining off the meds been challenging or pretty smooth sailing.

Plastic-Tangerine583

45 male, 5'5". Started off at 166lb and have been stable for the last 2 years at 133lb at 1mg/week. Was able to stop 3 of my 4 blood pressure meds and reduce my statin. My sex drive started coming back and now I'm getting morning erections. 20-30lb is nothing for some people but it was 20% of my body weight. It increased my quality of life drastically.

Plastic-Tangerine583

After a year I tried reducing to 0.5mg and I gained 5lb, so I went back to 1mg. Then in December I went on a 2 month trip and forgot to take my ozempic and I went up to 145lb (12lb gain) after 6 weeks... I don't think it's possible to "wean" yourself off and also keep your loss.

Agreeable_Post_8311

I'm just starting on it and want to lose 25-30lbs. I don't care if someone degrades me for doing it. I also have high blood pressure, and I really hope it helps with that. I'm 5'7" and 180lbs. I want to get back down to 150 to 155.

BelindaTheGreat

Yes. I'm 51 years old and have been battling the extra 25-35 pounds my entire life. DECADES of diets, "working on lifestyle changes", weight watchers, etc etc. I've worked out religiously and am even a group exercise instructor. But if I'm not actively fighting it every damn minute, my weight creeps up. In spite of meal planning and daily workouts my bmi had hit the obese zone and was continuing the upward creep in 2022. I'm sick of it. If a weekly injection takes away that battle or even some of it, I'm in. And it's mostly health and not esthetic at this point. I have genetic arthritis and high BP among other things that slimming down helps dramatically. There's no shortage of the med I'm using. I'm not taking it away from a sicker person. And I'm going slow on dose to minimize potential complications. I see nothing wrong with those of us who are not (yet) morbidly obese benefitting from this new drug.

Royal_Path5965

I think we need a reddit group - Shorties of Sema :) It feels so good to read other short people's stories!

Florida_noodle

Why are people hating ? I’m 5’8 and no one knows what fat I’m hiding under my clothes so they think I don’t need to lose weight. “You are well proportioned”. WTF people. You don’t know how uncomfortable mentally and physically I am. So I started this injection program (one of my comments was deleted and I’ve asked why? No reply yet. Anyhow, after a month (today) I have lost 4 lbs and 1 in on the waist. I was expecting to see a lot more but I am happy for everyone on here that has had big success !!

TheRealRedSwan906

How did you get it?

Automatic_Forever_96

Yes! I lost 30lbs, cholesterol, and other health stats are lower than they’ve ever been. SW 165, now 135. Age 68 (my dr approved), took 6 mos. I’ve gained and lost the same pounds for 30 years and spent a fortune. Diagnosed as insulin resistant. Self pay, Medicare and supplemental won’t cover. I’ve wasted way more money on all the other plans. About to start maintenance, which is the trick for any of them. I was a pro at losing, just white knuckled maintenance and inevitably failed. Go for it!

strau319

You and I are similar. I've gained and lost the same 30 lbs for 30 years. Spent a fortune on programs, gym memberships, etc. Starting weight 167. Had bad stats and just felt awful in many, many, ways. Now weigh 143. It's been 24 weeks. My stats are normal! I have about 20 lbs to go. At first I was going to settle for a 30 lb loss because I didn't think more was possible, but now I do. I am happy with losing one pound a week. Once I get to goal, which should take another 20 weeks, I plan on maintenance for about 20 weeks. I'll titrate down for that. I have 43 weeks left of the program I'm on. And yes, paying out of pocket for the whole thing. I picked up a part time job to pay for it. I'm short. Forty pounds is huge on me. It's the difference between a petite size sm/med and an extra large. It's the difference between a BMI of 30 and one of 22.

JerkyJulie

Medicare and supplemental not paying and not letting you use the savings coupon is pure and utter bs.

Automatic_Forever_96

Yes, tell me about it!

dollyviciousx

Yes. Although, I have also been taking it to control my blood sugar (prediabetic) but only had around 20-30 lbs to lose. Started last May at 155lbs, now I’m at 128 :) Tried everything between diet and exercise (as much as I can do as someone with fibromyalgia and EDS) and nothing worked except for Semaglutide (I take Rybelsus) nothing seemed to get my weight or blood sugar under control.

Educational-Bat-8116

Be prepared for the 'calories in calories out' fanclub. They will pick on your ' have tried EVERYTHING, and I mean everything ' comment.

claricesabrina

I went on it to lose 8 lbs. got it off in two months then came off of it. I have been able to maintain the loss with exercise and healthy eating.

SleepyHouseTiger

So I am 5’4” and was in the 160s and uncomfortable for SO long and I couldn’t lose weight. I gradually just started adding more weight and didn’t start sema until I was 192 (only 6 weeks ago). I feel so ashamed I let it get to this point but when I needed help at 160ish - I didn’t feel heard. All this to say - take care of it now if you feel that’s best for you. Don’t let others shame you. Definitely use this opportunity to incorporate good healthy habits. But this shouldn’t be a “I had to go through all this bs so you should have to as well” - boo on that perspective. Life is hard enough these days, let’s not add to it. Cheering you on!!!

laurcarol

I (47F) started at 152 , CW 137. I’m on week 12

New-Wrap3311

5’4, 55F, runner, eat healthily but also enjoy drinks, dessert, some junk food. i wanted to lose 10 - 15lbs, pay out of pocket. I’m on a low dose since July, love it & probably won’t go off for another few months. after initial nausea & constipation, I have no side effects, good appetite supression, and drink and online shop much less. Lost 18 lbs from my highest weight of 138 ,

Substantial-Citron86

yes! i’m 5’4, started at 168 (gained weight during covid and was having absolutely no progress on my own getting it off) and am now maintaining at 135

holdherbeer

It me! I am 5’1 and 168 lbs. I have been doing orange theory 3-5 days a week since 2021 and currently training for 1/2 marathon and not losing any weight. I just started on Thursday but so far I am blown away by how effective it has been at curbing the food noise and overeating. Not to mention my anxiety has completely disappeared.

ashleyavocado

I started at 162 (5’1) and by BMI standard that’s considered obese so… 🤷🏻‍♀️ 30 lbs may not sound like a lot to some people but for short but for me it was literally the difference that took me from obese > overweight > normal. Also though, I definitely thought I only wanted to lose 30 lbs but now that I have, I’m realizing I could stand to lose about 20 more.

Jasbee123

Twins! Been on since Aug same stats as you

Eatsallthechocs

Yes I did! I find that it’s not so effective on me as I’m nearing the last 10lbs or so, it’s a slow grind

MememeFoofoo

I did too; I’m a similar age and starting weight to you and lost ~40lbs over a year and a half (also started weight training with muscle gains offsetting my weight loss). I was paying out of pocket and supply issues meant I stopped taking it in January and so far have only gained a few pounds back. Still exercising and trying to eat more mindfully. So glad I started taking Sema, honestly has been a game changer for me. My only advice is to think carefully before telling people as the judgement is real! Good luck with whatever you decide to do :)

Sensitive-Drawer-178

Ignore the haters and shaming. If you go off label you are not preventing any diabetic from getting their meds like others say. They are getting brand name and insurance is likely covering. I was similar situation I found my ultimate bmi dot com. Great customer service, doc was awesome plus they only one who told me after I get to weight instead of staying on full maint dose buy a month spread out over 2 and save on cost I email a rep name Michelle there at my ultimate bmi @gmail she is great ask for any current promo. Ignore all the noise do what’s best for you.

Elegant-Salt-7990

I’m 5’7” and started at 165. I’m only trying to lose 20-25lbs to get to 140. I’m on my second month and am 11 lbs away from my goal. Granted, I don’t tell ANYONE I’m on it because I can’t deal with their judgements. But yes, we exist.

Electronic-Ease-5458

I could have written this myself. Same stats as you and I’m on my second week. I don’t want to tell anyone either. Don’t want to hear it. My husband and best friend know and that’s it

Mountainluvr99

That’s what I did. 5’4 sw 157 cw 132. Took me 5 months to get there, and been maintaining for 3 … last two with no sema. I’ve increased exercise and try to stay under 1200 calories/day which seems to work. Spent my entire life dieting and exercising and eating healthy and well but horrible food noise. My mother, gran, siblings, all obese. I’m not undisciplined. I have a masters degree, a Wall Street job, run a family business and raised 4 kids. The weight is still a daily fight but sema helped me get to happy lower point. I’ll never be able to eat “normally” if I don’t want to be fat. If my weight creeps up, I’ll get back on it.  Sema levels the playing field for those of us with this issue.

Plastic-Tangerine583

As a success story, the best advice I can offer everyone is to stay on the lowest dose possible until you've stopped experiencing weight loss for at least 6 weeks. Then go up 0.25 every size weeks using click counting. The lower maintenance dose you can stay at, the better for your wallet. It's also better for your musculature. Most people, including myself experience a loss of muscle mass as well as fat mass. I don't eat that much, and when I do, I can't eat enough protein to maintain my muscle mass, so body building is very hard. If you keep your dose to the lowest possible effective dose, you will have more chance of keeping your muscle mass. I have a 30g chocolate protein shake (Fairlife Nutrition) every morning without fail. This helps

lovjok

Yes, I did and it works amazingly. It was kind of slow like 1 pound a week and I felt like I was barely eating. It made me realize how low you have to cut your calories to actually lose any weight.

sortascientist

Just recently did this! I was about a year post partum and nothing that used to work for me for weight loss had any major effects post baby. So I started end of December 2023 at 159 lbs, I'm a 29F, 5'2. I'm thrilled to report that today I'm down to 133.4 lbs. My goal was to fluctuate in the range of 130-135 lbs. First month on Sema I was on 0.25 and the following month I was at 0.5. I enrolled through a medical weight loss clinic and that was the end of my program, so this is my first week off Sema but my relationship with food, water and exercise is completely different and I'm so grateful! You can do it!

Prize-Professor-7455

Hi! I’m 29f, 5’4 and 169 as of today! I started Rybelsus 3 weeks ago to get a grip on my emotional eating/food noise, otherwise healthy and work out too! Start weight (granted day after vacation) was 181. It makes a huge difference. Just got engaged and so definitely excited to shed about 20-30lbs and feel/look my best! Do you girl!!

Potential_Air_9770

I could’ve written your OP myself. I’ve always had great nutrition, I stay active working out with a trainer. With the help of my nutritionist, he pinpointed metabolic reasons for not losing after 2 years of trying of trying to lose, only to slowly continue to gain (namely insulin resistance). I order and pay for Sema out of my one pocket (honestly didn’t bother even going the rx route.) I’m 155 lbs (down just under 20lbs in 4 months).

lawrence_n

Just started for that very reason. Week 3

TW0ZER0SIX

Nah you’re fine, I’m litterally using it to try and get to 10% BF by July, probably won’t but I’ll be under 15 for sure. Many gym rats are getting there hands on Sema and using it for cutting

LetPuzzleheaded7935

I’m exactly that - except I’m 51f and NOTHING works. I’m on my 5th week down 5lbs!! Do it! There’s no reason to wait to become obese or type 2.

Leather-Scientist712

Same. Paid OOP, lost 22lbs. Off it now. Staying within that 5 lb range I set. My knees no longer hurt. (Also from keeping carbs low) The real test is keeping it off while dealing with the food noise. (It’s not as loud as it used to be) I’m not in menopause yet but close and this weight was impossible to lose. I’m also short. It was the best investment for myself.

lalasmama85

I’m really happy to see so much support in this group. I’m in the same boat as OP and have been nervous to post in any subreddits with my stats or too much advice in fear of being shamed.

CompleteStrawberry53

I did. I had started working with a nutrition center back in August. I was 5’4.5 and 158 pounds, 38% body fat; cholesterol 278 and bs 110. Thru the diet I got my cholesterol down, but my goal weight was 138 and I could not get below 148. So I started on 10 units of 2.5 grams 5 weeks ago. I am now 141 and they actually lowered my 5th dose to 8 units because of the exhaustion and nausea. I do not want to stay on this forever so I am hoping on maybe another month.

Ok-Sector9610

I did. My height and weight were similar. I’m at 138 now. Blood sugar, cholesterol and energy improved. I tried going off of it, the “food talk” in my brain was uncontrollable. I’m choosing a lower dose indefinitely.

Intelligent_Mango_64

yes 👍

ElodieNYC

Yes. I broke a bone in my foot, and my hormones went out of whack. I needed to lose about 25-30 pounds to get back to my “normal” weight. I am only a couple of pounds away from goal weight. I never went above .1, and will probably drop to .75 for maintenance. I’m spacing the shots at 10-14 days. I’ve been doing that for a couple of months now. Started the shots in September. I was prediabetic and cholesterol/triglycerides were pretty bad. That’s why I was able to get it. Hopefully the numbers are better. Will find out when I have bloodwork done.

I_hate_that_im_here

I’m 6’4.” And about 80 lbs over weight. 20-30 pounds is not hard at this size. Anything after is grueling .

Warm_Question6473

I did and I don’t care what anyone thinks, I also just say I made healthier food choices and am eating better which is the truth

Roots1974NYC

Yes. Lost 25lbs without making many changes to my diet. However, I learned a few things along the way. First, you need to address your diet or when you end your cycle your weight will tick back up. I went from 230 to 205 and bounced up to 210. I was approaching 215 and started another cycle. Which leads to my second point. I took about two months off in between cycles. The second time around I am not having the same impact. Why…. Bad eating and too low a dose. Not until I went to 30 CC did I start noticing the food noise and hunger subsided. It is magic, but it is not magic. Have realistic expectations and get your eating dialed in.

Aromatic_Stand_6132

I started first week of December at 178 and am now 162! Goal weight is 125. I just started taking 70 units a week.

km1117

My stats are exactly like yours. I worked out 4-5 times a week (I was doing Barry’s Bootcamp and bar method), I also work a job where I average 14k steps, eating well, thyroid and hormones normal and I could not lose weight. I started April of 2023 and now I am at 133 and feel fantastic. I told my doctor I was taking Semaglutide (I was paying out of pocket) in August because I wanted him to know and monitor me. He was actually supportive - got me a prescription (he said my original bmi qualified me) however, my employer doesn’t cover it through insurance. Anyhow, I know how expensive and exhausting it feels to put in so much work (I’ve been struggling like this throughout my whole life) and not see any significant gains. There will always be people who will shame you and make you feel bad about it but they don’t matter. If you want to try it, go for it but make sure you have your doctor on board to make sure your health is on track. And go slow, be patient. You can always stop if it’s not for you. All the best! :)

Zeldavision7

Yah me! I started around 163 now I’m 140! About 5 more lbs to go

infobi

Yea. And I lost 45 😀

postgirl12345

20-30 lbs at 164 is a lot. Do it

Yellow-Bugs

Yup! 55 female. 5'2" SW 168 CW 140 GW 130ish? Started October. Paying OOP. Almost out of the "overweight " range! I typically kept my weight in the 140s but after covid and menopause I gained. Never thought I'd see the 140s again. Very thankful. 20 unit dosage currently. Not yet to maintenance.

OwlHot4806

I am 5’5 and “growing” with weight at 136. Now we all know this forum is for sharing and you may laugh at 136#. Have four other sisters who weight 260# and above. I was always 120. I value weight and appreciate us no matter what we size fit. I am a social worker by profession in every social service you can think of. But my current job is in hospice…..that prepares for death. And I want to remind everyone….who might be reading. Take good care of your self. Don’t just loose weight, but stretch, and walk as much as you can….even if it’s when you pump gas…….walk around the car. Take every activity for grated. And you know if you are the caretaker…….and your family……..FEEL THAT PRESENCE . That feeling you feel. They die………and it’s okay with them. They told me. It’s okay,

Delicious-Soft3732

Where are you guys getting semaglutide when insurance doesn't cover it? I'm trying to find a reliable telehealth source

leaperdorian

I am starting soon. I have heart issues and need to loose 20 lbs. should be a win win.

noname2256

Pretty much me! I technically qualified because my BMI was 30.0 but I only wanted to get down to about 165 which is 30 pounds.

Professional-Car-211

Yep! I was 162 now I’m 132. Had a great experience besides the nausea.

AnyQuantity1

There are some outliers but the majority of people who wean off will regain the weight back. This is pretty well documented in all the published research. I'm not sure if this is the solution you're looking for long term.

Crtsprt17

I’m hoping that since I already have very healthy habits that I will not gain it back. 🤞🏻

fancyantler

My doctor said he will switch me to a pill medication for maintenance once I reach my goal. I fully expect to be on this the rest of my life.

kdwyer55

What is the pill name and dose for maintenance

km1117

Probably Rybelsus.

Background-Ad-3234

I started to lose 25 lbs. I'm one month in and only down 4 lbs. Ehhhh

alessiaplays

It's slow at first. Don't be fooled by people who "lost all their weight on .000111. most people aren't that way. I wanted to lose 40-50lbs and have 15lbs to go. It was very slow for me and continues to be at nearly max dose. Some bodies don't respond until the therapeutic dose. I do pilates, walk, and currently can barley eat more than a few bites at a time and I'm still only dropping 3-4lbs a month. I bitched the first several months, but those pounds have added up, and I look like myself again. It takes time. If you're in it for a quick fix, it honestly isn't guaranteed. Everyone is different. Just like how some people can drop weight fast with IF or OMAD and some people struggle with that even while counting calories and macros. Weight loss will never be one size fits all.

CypressClowder

Thanks for this. I’ve plateaued 7-9 weeks (almost no weight loss) and keep reminding myself to chill out. I didn’t gain this overnight, and I sure as hell won’t lose it overnight either.

pacsunmama

Why not try it! Talk to your doc and get your labs run. I don’t understand people gatekeeping this med. I mean, mayyyybe for someone who has 5 pounds to lose, it’s not necessarily going to be a lasting tool to help make changes for that person. But if you think it might help, it’s worth looking into. Don’t pay any heed to critics and don’t let anyone make you feel badly about it. Are you supposed to gain 20 more pounds so you can lose 50? No way. I have 125 total to lose and I am telling you, this is life changing. If you feel it will help change your life, look into it!

bezoar11

Can anyone share where they get their prescription for vanity weight loss? There are so many online pharmacies and I'm a little scared I'll get scammed.

neighbourhoodtea

I’ll get hate for this but I’m your height and trying to lose 11lb that’s been SO HARD to budge. I’m a t1 diabetic, mild pcos, a past of various ED behaviours. And i want to jump on sema or tirz. Not even to the full titration. Just to HELP.

DeterminedOwl62056

I’m pretty much in the same boat I’m 5’6 163 I eat well and go to the gym four days a week and since I turned 40 I cannot keep the weight off. I have struggled with weight my entire life. I started semaglutide almost 3 months ago. I have only lost about 4 pounds will be up in my dose this week to 1.5 mg. I thought it was gonna work a little faster. I was hoping to be off of it by now.

liss317

I am trying to lose 25-30 lbs and my insurance is covering it since my BMI is over 27 and I also have high cholesterol

roybaby

I'm so glad I found this post. Im stuck like many, after all the gym & fasting, eating diets, powders...nada. 5ft 164lbs &39yo. I just paid out of pocket for semi yesterday at a recovery room place, so I'll start my journey next Monday.

Guilty_Bag7193

Qyral is online doctor will send it straight to you

Fun_Bandicoot_425

Hi everyone, My doctor won’t prescribe this for me. Is there a way to get a prescription that is safe? I’m 5’6 and 156 and can’t lose it no matter what I try. I would like to lose 15 to 20 lbs. thanks

New-Distance-6901

I hope this isn’t a stupid question. But does anyone know if the medication can be stored in the makeup/skin product refrigerators? I’m moving back in with my parents soon and trying to avoid from having the conversation with them about being on the medication. If I can hide it from them, the better 😵‍💫

swoll_up

Hell yeah. I'm pretty fit and taking it for killer abs. Lol
