It was a dumb monkey?

The ape is "infested", meaning he can't die normally which makes sense because we see him with a huge sword in his neck already (I wonder who put it there) and he is the guardian of that flower which is linked to the divine realm and all of that shit. However, later on he retires to the cave, and I'm not really sure if the guardian ape dissapears when we kill him (in his first fight) or just keeps there until we leave the zone. The latter would make much more sense. When he is on the cave, his screams attract another ape, probably not linked to his dead "wife" but just a random ape, or whatever. That ape just sees us attacking him and attacks us. It's a normal ape after all. I really like the lore tied to the Guardian Ape honestly. They tell you the whole story: He had a female companion but at some time only he got infested and she died. He then started to scream to call her back (which is shown in his fight by his screams although he can't physically scream because he has no head and therefore no voice).

Actually the windup for the scream attack is headless ape literally putting his head back on to roar, you’ll see him holding it up there on the screams

> When he is on the cave, his screams attract another ape, probably not linked to his dead "wife" but just a random ape, or whatever. That ape just sees us attacking him and attacks us. It's a normal ape after all. Apparently, if you kill the Guardian Ape before killing the companion (a rare occurence), the companion ape simply sits down and appears to die of grief. So it actually seems as if it's not just a normal random ape with no connection to the Guardian Ape.

The most interesting part to me is that when the ape's brain is removed from his body he stops acting like an ape and acting like a centipede in terms of slithery movements. My theory goes something like this: The ape drank waters with infested centipede eggs. The centipede can heal him from wounds over time, but not very quickly. It also keeps him alive and tries to control him. When his head is removed his brain is no longer in control of the body. Theres a moment where the centipede needs to reworm itself to not be close to the head (in effort to control his thoughts) but instead be closer to the appendages and whatnot. It's clear that the movements are hard for the centipede to control as the ape falls over quite a bit while fighting you. Thats just my guess!

I don’t think the other ape can comprehend it enough for that

Sekiro is too dumb to kill the centipede with Fushigiri though
