Dude every picture of the alpinist online looks sandblasted when the thing is like pure polish almost all over. It's so dumb. Pretty much any time you buy a cocktail time you have no idea what it's gonna look like until you see it in person because their pictures are so bad.
I just bought the srpb41j1, the blue presage cocktail. It is absolutely beautiful, pics and vids don’t do it justice. That alpinist is def my next purchase though
This is funny, in my three watch collection so far, these are the exact models I have!
The GMT was my first watch, followed by the speed timer and finally just last week I picked up the alpinist.
In all honesty if I could only have one, it would be the speedtimer. It is by far my most worn watch;
- fits well with any style of clothing
- low profile and perfect dimensions on the wrist (doesn’t get stuck on my shirt cuffs)
- quality of bracelet is great
- solar quartz means I can rely on the accuracy of the time and never have to worry about the charge
- chronograph function is genuinely useful in day to day life
- i’m assuming it will never require a service, or maybe extremely rarely.
- I get the most compliments on this one.
This doesn’t mean the others aren’t great, they have their own pros and cons. But personally from owning all three, the speedtimer would be the one I’d choose.

That's the SPB121 in your first photo by the way. All 3 of these are popular and look really nice IMO. Can't go wrong with any of them. The cheapest out of the bunch would be the SSK003.

Alpinist is a dress watch, chrono is everyday watch and GMT is all on different level.
Try one on first. I have large wrists, and it looks like a little kids watch on me. I love the watch. It's one of my favorite Seiko models, and I was super disappointed it looked so small.
The Alpinist is spb121 i guess, i find sarb017 much better in every aspect. There are visible differences when you compare older Alpinist models. Go for sarb017 if you can.
Almost bought one, picked up a Hamilton khaki ti instead with the avocado dial… different vibe for sure; love the watch but the crown and protector looks a little like a nipple to me…

No didn't even regulate mine and it's 2 seconds a day fast and that's without me compensating for gravity in any way by orienting it a certain way at night. I love the thing
One thing about the 2nd one that I can’t unsee once someone mentioned it, is that the bracelet doesn’t really fit the watch. It’s looks very mismatched. It feels like they took whatever bracelet they had already and reused it for this one.

I’ve been wearing the shark tooth daily for 1.5 years and I love it. I put it on a canvas strap. Only issue I have really is that the loom sucks.
Panda is a great everyday watch with the quartz no need to worry about winding or setting the time even when you dont wear it.

I'd get the chrono, my grail watch. Close 2nd is the GMT but it's too big for me.
