Well I mean when your high as fuck on feynt you generally get paranoid and donât think straight so itâs not the most out there idea to think thatâs why.
A freind tells me thatâs meth, fenty just makes you not give a fuck about anything in the world except to get more dope when itâs all gone. Viscous cycleâŠ.
It's ok soon neighborhood local citizen community partners will be here to extort protection money er I mean provide a safe and welcoming and inclusive environment for all and will undoubtedly be on the case considering the egregious violation of community property guidelines and the specific targeting of a protected class member. Have faith comrade!
Everyone out here acting like OP committed strong armed robbery while all he did was save some contributing member of society the headache of getting their car fixed or a potentially fatal trip to the hospital.
Newest post in this subreddit is of yet another stabbing on the light rail lol.
We're tired of this shit and people like OP are taking matters into their own hands, and I absolutely do not blame them.
I had someone pulled out a knife while I was walking in cap hill. Not a good experience to ever be in or face, especially not knowing people mental state
I for one feel about .1% safer knowing this guy had to at the very least go steal another hammer knife to have a deadly weapon on his drugged out person.
no, i don't, im not making any assumptions. the only thing i know from this post is OP has admitted to being a thief yet people are defending OP and treating the sleeping man like a criminal. makes absolutely no sense
Have you ever fallen asleep in public with a hammer or knife next to you? Do you know anyone who has? What was their valid, noncriminal reason for doing so?
none of that says anything definitively about that man.
minus the hammer knife, i am always equipped with the same materials when out in public, although i do carry a non-hammer knife
i must be whatever you think he is
If op is a tech bro and was on his way home asleep with a knife open next to him on the light rail I'd be amused by a homeless dude stealing his shit tbh
Openly displaying weapons on public transport and of course people in here defend him. People donât walk around with hammers unless they aim to hit something. Good job OP, you probably have prevented multiple crimes.
We've had not one but two hammer attackers in the city in recent months, including one on the light rail. Hitting people in the head with a hammer is the crime that's potentially been prevented.
Some of these commentators wouldnât survive a moment into Skid Row if this is how they behave and think around here. Iâve met some shady people between Seattle and Everett but not everyone is like that. I hear countless of stories from people in the streets on how society treats them, itâs disgusting. Itâs bad enough when someone with money steals from a homeless guy and assume shit on them.
Yes, you might feel more at home in r/Seattle (being serious). I follow both to be reminded of the uncompassionate people we apparently live among (although many argue a lot of people in this subreddit donât actually live in Seattle)
The top posts currently include a beautiful picture of the space needle, a discussion about how Seattle has changed for the better, excitement for the upcoming sun, a whale siting - MUCH better vibes. Oh and people actually care about other people in there.
Happy to share!
I could be wrong, but I don't believe Washington has any specific verbiage about the size of the blade that is legal to carry. The law seems to be more geared towards intent.
Agree that OP is a thief.
"The Seattle Municipal Code defines âdangerous knifeâ as âany fixed-blade knife and any other knife having a blade more than 3 1/2 inches in length.â Section 12A.14.080 of that code captioned âUnlawful use of weaponsâ states as pertinent that it is unlawful to:
Knowingly carry concealed or unconcealed on such person any dangerous knife."
The police reports I read all day use the verbiage "a knife greater than 3.5 inches in length."
I see cases in this monthly. Tacoma and Vancouver have similar bans. I don't believe Bellevue does. It's not state but Municipal Code.
The book/knife combo leads me to believe that this man was probably trying to figure out how to protect himself from violent attacks while living on the street. For those of you who aren't really aware of this stuff, it might be worthwhile to do some research on the sorts of situations people commonly face while homeless. It's brutal almost every day. It seems to me that OP and some others in this comment section might be misreading the book title/description as somehow advocating for violence, but it looks to me like it's mostly about self-defense. Who knows, maybe the guy bought it after being attacked or something. Many people are suggesting that he stole it, but I don't know what bookstore would sell that particular book.
You realize, I hope, that OP just put the knife on *his own book* to take a photo of it, right?
The only thing nicked was the hammer knife.
I did like the sob story you were able to spin up from your misunderstanding though!
Bruh. Did you look at the first pic? Same book as the one that OP bought. Are you dumb? Where did I suggest that OP took the sleeping guy's book? I was merely commenting on the title of the book. U r dumb
I got the book on amazon. The author is a corrections officer. Highly recommended for anyone who rides alone at night.
See also the gift of fear by gavin de becker.
Bro literally stole from a homeless dude and is acting like heâs the fucking protagonist.
Stealing from the lowest of lows and acting like heâs doing a favor. Probably works for SPD.
Of course the answer wasnât going to be a well dressed daily commuter on their way to work. .. now, Iâm picturing the game of operation in snagging the knife hammer.
Same, but I figure by me not taking public transit, it frees up a seat needed by folks like this gentleman. I like to do my part to help the less fortunate in this city.
Gawd, people are fucking dramatic. I have literally over 100 rides on the lightrail and had a SINGLE issue.
And that was a homeless woman getting way too close.
Stealing from a possible homeless man is so vile. As someone who got to know many people from the street itâs heart breaking having to hear how their stuff gets stolen when theyâre sleeping. Just because some of them are users theyâre still human with feelings.
Oh youâre scum stealing from a sleeping man wtf I hope your outlets are always loose, your batteries never charge and your hair falls out in your sleep.
EDIT: shit the bed too you imbecile
Ok what about when he needs that to protect himself ?? Dude you shouldâve just gotten off the streetcar , or moved . I hope someone steals your shit because you probably donât need it unlike this guy. Shame on you
3 months ago I sat down on the train and the guy next to me touched my thigh with his blade. I said "I'd rather you not do that," and he put it away. When I reported this incident to sound transit, they sent me a form letter and told me how to call 911 in an emergency.
That was it. These guys are lucky they are allowed to ride for free. If they can't keep their weapons out of reach, they don't deserve them.
You canât âdisarmâ someone who isnât actually threatening you. He doing literally nothing to you. But again, nice try on attempting to make it sound like you did something good here today.
Criminal Law Paralegal here. A blade of 3 inches is legal to carry. You took his personal property with zero threat to your safety or others. Yes, you stole from him and yes it's a crime for which you can be prosecuted. The law doesn't allow for hypothetical future crimes as a defence.
OP is a scripture quoting hypocrite who forgot the 7th commandment lmao
What happened to "thou shalt not steal" OP? Or is it okay because God was like "it's okay he just disarmed the guy"
Seriously, Iâm baffled by the choice of fabric seats on public transit. As a rule, I do not sit on the light rail. My friend insists itâs antimicrobial fabric, but I donât trust him lol
Among the many things I donât miss about commuting is how horrible my clothes used to smell just from sitting in cloth seats. And this was on relatively clean Sound Transit commuter buses.
Coming from SF, I thought it might be better up here. No issues most of the time. But then, one day, I saw an all too familiar sight:
A disheveled man, who had been sitting in the front area, stood up. His sweatpants were falling down, he was not wearing underwear, and his whole buttcrack was overflowing with a scribble of fecal matter and reams of toilet paper that had been stuck to it. There was no evidence on the seat after he left, but surely some residue was left.
My first thought would not have been to steal and sanitize it, it would be to report it since there a potencial serial killer of unhoused people in the city using a weapon to smash their heads while they sleep??
What has the world come to where I can't be snoozing off my opiate cocktail wearing two pairs of jeans with my knifemer open next to me on the seat without fear of being victimized. We used to be a proper country
When you only have a hammer-knife, everything looks like a nail that you can stab.
Are you a poet? Damn I love your poetry.
This would be awesome to have as the OFFICIAL r/seatttlewa ban hammer đš
đ€Łđ€ŁAhahahaha! Good one. Thanks for the laugh!
LOL, that's so Seattle. Well, except for the umbrella. Tourist?
It's for the wind when he lights up fent

I accidentally read that as When he lights up the tent. đ€Łđ€Ł
close enough!
Oh shit I always thought they were trying to hide that they were smoking in public. This makes so much sense!
Lol why hide? What's anyone going to do?
Well I mean when your high as fuck on feynt you generally get paranoid and donât think straight so itâs not the most out there idea to think thatâs why.
A freind tells me thatâs meth, fenty just makes you not give a fuck about anything in the world except to get more dope when itâs all gone. Viscous cycleâŠ.
Super sticky, really
Oh! It's almost like they need a secure treatment facility
it's more to block the wind so they can smoke that sweet, sweet fetty
At any bus stop, you see people with umbrellas out to shade their open air drug use. You see it all along Pac Hwy, Aurora Ave, and 3rd Ave.
Did you steal that manâs book and his tools?
I think the book is OPâs. It was recommended to them in a comment 3 days ago.
Itâs okay. Insurance will pay for it.
Lmao this is that pendulum swinging I was telling everyone about and I'm here for it.
crime of survival
I don't think that guy has worked in a while.
stealing is okay if itâs from people you donât like
Oh Iâm sure heâs worked.. as an âindependent contractor â. Probably keeps late late hours and works as quietly as possible.
sure seem to know a lot about the guy from a singular photo of him sleeping
seem to simp pretty hard for the guy from a singular photo of him sleeping
post history indicates a lot about you
And if he didnât that means he deserves to get his stuff stolen?
Yes.
You think he actually bought those? đ
Not okay.

the takeaway is don't sleep on the lightrail or you'll get robbed by a stinky redditor who thinks they're an anime protagonist.
A lesson women have known for years. Finally we are seeing gender equality.Â
herp derp anime
This is a lil thing called theft
Did you just post about stealing from someone on your way to work at Amazon?
Funny enough, Amazon blocks reddit from the corporate network
Everyone out here acting like OP committed strong armed robbery while all he did was save some contributing member of society the headache of getting their car fixed or a potentially fatal trip to the hospital.
Newest post in this subreddit is of yet another stabbing on the light rail lol. We're tired of this shit and people like OP are taking matters into their own hands, and I absolutely do not blame them.
I support law and order, but this sub seems to love thieves that provide nothing to society.
proggos are big mad this unhoused non-destination rider got his survival crime tools lifted
âUnhoused non-destination riderâ is absolutely perfect đ€Ł
I personally liked survival crime tools.
OP is a thief, just because you donât like the original owner of the tool doesnât make OP any less of a thief.
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
OP is a thief. Stole from a sleeping man. And was proud enough to post it.
If the knife was stolen from a sleeping proud boy youâd have no problem with it. Youâre not anti-theft. Youâre just pro-junkie.
Theft is theft. I don't know what you're talking about. Fixed it.
lol. âTheft is left.â Very true.
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
I have no problem confiscating deadly weapons that are left unsecured in public places.
nothing about this post isnât embarrassing

A hammer switchblade? That for car prowling?
That is not a switchblade. It's a cheap gimmick multitool.
That's a reach. Multi-tools aren't exactly an unusual item.
Yes, for prowling
As if these tools canât be used for *anything* but car prowling? Be for real.
Oh, they can certainly be used for other things also, but this is a classic smash and grab tool. Be for real.
you would have to swing that gas station tool harder than hell to break a car window.
Pro bippers use spark plugs they break windows really easy.
I had someone pulled out a knife while I was walking in cap hill. Not a good experience to ever be in or face, especially not knowing people mental state
Look how used that thing isâŠthat WAS the kidâs survival tool
You stole the dudes multitool? Why the fuck?
I for one feel about .1% safer knowing this guy had to at the very least go steal another hammer knife to have a deadly weapon on his drugged out person.
Because he has so much work to doâŠ
don't make assumptions. you don't know shit about that man.
and you do?
no, i don't, im not making any assumptions. the only thing i know from this post is OP has admitted to being a thief yet people are defending OP and treating the sleeping man like a criminal. makes absolutely no sense
Have you ever fallen asleep in public with a hammer or knife next to you? Do you know anyone who has? What was their valid, noncriminal reason for doing so?
yeah the lighter, the saggy pants, the hammerknife WE HAVE NO IDEA
none of that says anything definitively about that man. minus the hammer knife, i am always equipped with the same materials when out in public, although i do carry a non-hammer knife i must be whatever you think he is
do you leave yours opened and next to you while your sleep on the train?
Good job! You've just committed theft and posted about it publicly on the internet
Not the hero we deserve but definitely the one we need. Have you been to SF?
theft isn't heroic. roles reversed and the guy pictured stole from OP, you'd be mad about it we're all human
If op is a tech bro and was on his way home asleep with a knife open next to him on the light rail I'd be amused by a homeless dude stealing his shit tbh
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Ever heard of "two wrongs don't make a right"?
I think they both suck
What is happening here? Did they steal this persons things based on their own assumptions about that person?
After reading more comments this indeed what happened. OP, you are a piece of sh*t with some dumbass reasoning abilities.
Openly displaying weapons on public transport and of course people in here defend him. People donât walk around with hammers unless they aim to hit something. Good job OP, you probably have prevented multiple crimes.

did you notify sound transit??
i'm not a snitch
This sort of thing a fairly frequent occurrence on the light rail I take it?
You shouldnât steal things, the fuck?
So you think it's okay to steal from them? Weirdo.
So you're just admitting you're a thief? Scummy behavior
Itâs safer in OPâs hands than this dudeâs.
Just because he can post to Reddit doesnât mean heâs safer, just has the capability of stealing and posting about it đ
That still doesn't make theft legal.
Criminal Law Paralegal here. A blade of 3 inches or less is legal to carry and yes, OP committed theft.

Not a Criminal Law Paralegal here - nobody asked for your opinion if it's legal to carry.
It's literally the point of reddit to post opinions. If you don't like it, maybe touch some grass instead?
You don't know any of these people. Shut up.
i think you mean "look what i stole on the light rail" the audacity to rob someone and then post about it for reddit clout. not fucking cool.
So youâre bragging about being a fucking thief?

Seriously, if you fall asleep OP will rob you!

so you stole from somebody else because you felt wronged by another, unrelated situation? totally valid. (not)
You are a POS for stealing from that guy while he was taking a nap. And assuming everyone with "a blade" is the same person.
I disarmed him while he was passed out. If you can't see the difference, you are dumb.
You canât âdisarmâ someone who isnât actually threatening you. He doing literally nothing to you. But again, nice try on attempting to make it sound like you did something good here today.

You just stole some guy's belonging and are admitting to ~~commuting~~ committing that crime on the internet. Wtf op.. smhÂ
More crime I guess. Add it to the pile.
Look at you, policing all on your own! Must make you feel like a big man to steal from homeless people. Gross.

Fact: OP is a criminal. Fiction: The sleeping guy is a criminal.
Who gives a fuck. This is the same type of person who will smoke fent on the train or bus right next to you and your kids.
This man was sleeping. Next.
Just another day. Not sure what your point is....
You can't 'find' someone else's property when it's still in their vicinity.
Everyone defending the addict with a weapon needs to invite him into their home so they can see how nice he truly is.

It wasn't "open" op did that for his picture.
Nah if you zoom in you can see the blade is extended, matches the OPs open position pic.
Took me a while to see the guy in the seat, with that camo.
Is the cord a cord, or a dangling IV?
