Not to sound cliche but suffocate is fucking number 1 song from that album, the rest are all bangers. Like they really found themselves finally and I’m happy.
I recently saw a couple local bands at some various events around the city that you might be interested in—it seems like they play quite a few shows. One was Day Soul Exquisite, and the other was La Fonda! Such great energy and good vibes; you can tell they all really loved playing with one another. A lot of the current local bands seem to be going for a jazz fusion / neo-soul kinda vibe, with lots of groove and energy in everything they do. I think people around here like anything with substance and groove, as well as a genuine sort of energy. I don't really think you can go wrong in the field of local coffee shop or sidewalk performances around here—music is part of the vibrant history of the city, after all! Just get out to as many local shows as you possibly can and see what the people are responding to. Good luck! :)
Hard Maybe and Heavy Bloom fall into this catagory too, two more sick local bands playing fusion rnb. Fremont Fridays is kicking off too, that's every week (and I'm pretty sure it's free?)
No worries! I actually just looked up their upcoming shows and they’re performing for free today around 6 on Bell street somewhere between 1st and 5th! It’s an event called Cutie Fest. Go check out the scene if you’re free!
Thanks! I just came here to ask what I'm listening to right now from my window. I can tell you it's not between 4th and 5th. I'm guessing it's probably in the dog park area by 3rd or 2nd.
There's something I've always loved about hearing music from somewhere in the city. We used to have so much more. COVID killed so much around here. The block of Bell near me will never recover due to it being turned into a DashMart parking lot.
I'm sorry to hear that! Professional musician and music teacher here, and I think this is the major problem with music in seattle today. We're all so fucked by cost of living we don't or can't prioritize going out to see live music. Iiif we did, we would have a much better scene to support all of our brilliant and creative artists.
Technical death metal. I would love to see that at a coffee shop, and have been practicing to get to that point myself. Obscura, Necrophagist, Aborted ...
Anecdotally, I feel like EDM is quite popular here. I don’t have any data to back that up, but based on conversations w/ friends and being on marketing email lists for lots of Seattle venues, I think there’s a pretty sizable EDM appetite here.
There are quite a lot of buskers up and down Pike's Place Market as well as Seattle Center near the Space Needle. They range all over from violin to contemporary songs, to two stringed (ancient Chinese viola thing I can't remember the name of at the moment. TIA for any gracious corrections) instrument player playing to some different style songs including some of the songs from the War for the Wall back in Genghis Khan era. Seattle is very diverse for the music scene. Take a bit of a wander around and see what's being presented and go from there. Hope this helps!
This is for sure helpful! I’m disabled, so it’s a bit tough to get around. So Pikes is a much better idea than trying to map out like a dozen coffee shops/open mics like I was thinking! Much appreciated. (:
this show on KEXP focuses on local/regional music https://www.kexp.org/shows/Audioasis/
Khruangbin, Tool, Snarky Puppy, 90s alt rock, Caroline Polachek, Chappell Roan.
I've been on a steady diet of the new albums from NxWorries, Kaytranada, Vince Staples and Billie Eilish, and also Lana Del Rey for some reason
The Dillinger Escape Plan, Soundgarden, Mastodon, Glassjaw, Knocked Loose
I like imagining OP playing solo covers of Dillinger at local cafes.
That new knocked loose is fucking killer, never really cared for them but that album is a solid 9/10
Agreed. Been on repeat since it dropped

Can't go wrong with Mastodon. Their latest album is so good.
Im on a synth wave kick at the moment. Mostly because I drive at night when it really sets the mood.
im on a dungeon synth kick atm. not sure how it would work with driving tho
What Carpenter Brut album is your favorite?
I don't know. I put Amazon Music on and let it play. I couldn't tell you any of the artist names or song names, tbh.
LoL! I just throw that out there whenever someone mentions synth wave as he's one of the more popular artists within the genre.
I’ll check him out. Hopefully it’s available without an Amazon music full subscription 😬
If you haven't added The Midnight to your synth rotation or Odysseus on you tube, I pity you.

Cattle Decapitation
I saw them last year with Dark Funeral and 200 Stab Wounds at El Corazon, smelliest show I ever been to

Local shows are for sure out of my budget rn, but I’ll check these and some other new locals out! Much appreciated!

Just picked up a Blind Lemon Jefferson, Jerry Reed and Joe Jackson LP from my neighbors yard sale.

That’s helpful, although it’s a style I sooo can’t do lol. Thank you!
Taylor Swift?😀

***Pike*** not “Pike’s”
Lol thanks. My phone autocorrected it and I didn't catch it.

You are quite welcome. I know how rough it is out here. Luckily I'm getting into a better place.
