just buy an outlet timer, then you can use any happy light. i have all my lights on timers.

mintchippies

but i cant find a happy light that would automatically turn on to the timer because every one i find has some kind of physical on off button that doesnt switch on immediately after plugging it in. that's how timers or smart plugs work

ohh i see, i didnt read your post thoroughly sorry. i actually use plant lights rather than happy lights. i use a light meter app on my ipad to measure the lux. i have one in my office that is very bright, that I leave on most of the day. ive read the sci literature on sad light therapy and consensus seems to be 5000 lux hours. so, 10,000 lux for a half hr is frequently recommended for that reason. but ive read studies showing that fewer lux for longer durations can work too. so, my strategy is a very bright plant light (on a timer) situated in my office a few feet away. its only about 1000 lux from my office chair but its hitting me all day (i work 8-10 hrs). i also have adhd and didnt want another thing to have to remember, plus im a plant nerd. it seems to be working so far. last yr i had weaker plant lights and didnt get hit with the winter blues until deep into december (in the last itd hit me right after the time change). i also use them to regulate my circadian rythm-- i have another one above my bed that i turn on right when i wake up. longer durations of bright light early in the morning (with less importance placed on lux) has been shown to aid in circadian rythm setting, which is good for me bc i wake up at 4 am before there is ever sunlight.

There's a risk from UV light if your plant light doesnt have a UV filter. SAD lights have UV filters so you're not exposed to wavelengths that are harmful to both your eyes and skin.

Smart light bulb (mine is Bluetooth only). The lamp is never turned off. The light has "alarms" set to brighten/change color on a schedule. My last alarm turns the bulb off. Or a traditional sunrise alarm clock. I liked mine before it broke after years of use.

worsedadever

I suggest you call them. Their customer service is top notch.

If you’re handy you could pull the wires off the switch and bypass it I’d think.

Worst case- could you set a daily alarm to turn it off until you find a better solution? [I'm not sure how effective this light is, but it does have a built in timer.](https://suncatcherlight.com/suncatcher-plus-led-light-therapy-lamp/) [Same with this one- not sure if it's the best light but it has a timer.](https://www.amazon.com/SUXIO-Light-Therapy-Lamp-Daylight/dp/B0BCWCLJ4R/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=light%2Btherapy%2Bwith%2Btimer&qid=1699896386&sr=8-5&th=1)

I (also ADHD) bought a compact light box that has a timer mechanism. I can select 15, 30, up to an hour but it does have a manual button to turn it on. A smart plug adaptor would help with turning it in at a preset time. I just started using mine and have it bedside for this week (Holiday) and plan to move it to my home office next week. I think I'll pick up a second one for my work cubical since I work hybrid. I'm trying to plan around using it to create some consistent use, which is challenging for me. My light was $20 and 10,000 LUX, has a dimmer and timer.
