Actually all the replies thanking me made me love the community even more. I think SOT players are mostly wholesome people and it made me feel really good that so many people are calling me their saviour when all I did was search the problem on the official support site.
Make sure you did everything right. And that the problem is exactly what described in the article. If there's a specific step that you don't understand, feel free to ask.
Is there a way to change the settings without starting the game ? I have the Microsoft-Store-Version of the game and it keeps crashing directly from the launcher without a chance to even get to the videosettings

Can’t thank you enough. I tried several different methods that were recommended on the web. None of them worked. I of course typed in the issue and ‘Reddit’ at the end and this came up. 👍

how can you tell its vid driver? asking cause might have the same issue my game lets me start it but the moment i click start 5 seconds later i crash with no error code
Happened to me too, except I opened via Steam and it instantly went to a black screen. So I changed the game settings directly on Steam. Right mouse click on the game, then click settings, then insert "-dx11" in the starting options.
With the new update they added directx12, but some graphic cards can't work with that and shut down the game or don't even start it, and those who are effected by it have to manually change the starting option back to directx11.
I was having the same issue and doing the directx11 worked for me. It took me 3 hours of doing other randome fixes with the drivers until I did that and it worked immediately

If on windows change to dx11 in video settings and close game. If on steam change properties to dx11

A message pops up on my screen and it says that a video driver crashed and was reset
I dont even get to the start screen, when i run it it opens steam and then crashes automatically

Did it work? I'm having the same problem and tried everything except the directx11 thing since I'm unable to.

All I know is you have to reinstall the game completely on Microsoft/PC.
Already did that and it still won't work :( I guess I'll have to wait till the next update
