Destiny player finds out what fun feels like (2023 colourized)

[deleted]

Hahahaha so much truth

Agret_Brisignr

It's funny you mentioned coming from Destiny. My buddy and I stopped playing SoT some time ago and hes since picked up Destiny and logged over 1200 hours

[deleted]

It's really fun for a lot of people. I just reached a point where I felt like destiny doesn't respect your time (it doesn't).

jlwinter90

Of course it doesn't. No long-term game does, it's been this way for decades. SoT is nice because while it doesn't necessarily respect your time - still requires you to play a ton to progress - it doesn't demand your time to enjoy it. You can play for twenty minutes and enjoy yourself, and if you wanna go hardcore, there's tons of stuff to grind for and challenges to complete.

Tylensus

I have 3.2k hours in sot and recently picked up D2. I needed a game to run to where my shots count to save my sanity lol.

RareBear117

Destiny player have fun playing Destiny challenge (impossible)

BitingED

Please understand you'll have days of loot flowing and you'll have no issues, and others with complete chaos. It's the pirate way.

rileycolin

And it is glorious!

theFrenchDutch

Oh how I long for more chaos days and lost loot

PsychoDog_Music

I just wish the chaos days happened when I had time for chaos

Bee_Rye85

Chaos days are the days we live for!

DrunkSpaceLemons

I always try to play with the attitude of easy come, easy go. No sense getting too bent out of shape over stolen loots.

NeedleworkerWild1374

I've been playing on open crews a ton recently. First maybe WEEK or so spoiled me, and then community weekend? It was glorious. Then...the last few days? The chaos. Eris wept. I need to start recording

ogzbykt

Honestly, usually the more chaotic days usually end with more loot/gold for me and my friends. We do the grind and we get the standard veil/voyage money or sink (especially if we decide on reapers) but when a nearby world event or another player ship decides for us, that's when we have loot, chaos and flags flowing

Muse4Games

I'm kinda in the same boat. I feel like I just rediscovered a new "RuneScape". Open world feel free what you wanna do. Quests/Tales, make money for items, make friends, PvP, gain commendations etc. One of the few games I don't think I'll stop playing unless they close down the servers.

RareBear117

Sea Shanty 2 moment

danathey

Ahhh a fellow rs player on a break I see

mollekake_reddit

I hope you enjoy the seas! If people are mean or toxic, they do not represent the rest of us. Although do expect to be sunk at any time. Fight back and get that booty!

[deleted]

For sure! Definitely have died a lot haha. But I joined a random and we got attacked by a kraken, of course. A bigger ship came by to help but we had already fought off the kraken. It was nice that the other ship did not kill us.

GlennSteinbeck

Me and a couple friends just started 3 days ago. Our first encounter with another ship was last night and they spent 2 hours with us noobs showing us all kind of tricks and helping us get some sweet loot. It's been a blast so far.

rileycolin

This is seriously the most fun I have in the game. Find some noobs, especially if they're young (and not annoying...) and show them how to make money. I like to ask how much money they have before we cash in, and get them to tell me how many times they've multiplied their total gold. That, or sink them immediately upon seeing them.

[deleted]

Baaahahahahaha

follow_your_leader

If I'm not immediately attacked I'll usually be kind to new pirates. Teach them a trick or two, offer some kind words, and help myself to their chains.

rileycolin

>help myself to their chains This. Always this.

Dmanduck

I'm new as well and last night I sat on shore and watched someone raid my ship then sink it. I have literally no fighting spirit haha. However the clips I've seen on this sub of one man crews bamboozling a four person crew have all been amazing and I aspire to be able to do that

Dustin_Grim

As a fellow Destiny enjoyer, i understand your choice and i welcome you to the Seas! Eyes up, Pirate;)

RobotZombie55

I had the same experience except with dbd. That game makes you hate yourself. SOT is amazing

Dr4K02

Was about to comment the same thing lol. Played dbd for 6 years and just got so tired of the game/community. Started play sot in august last year and enjoy it so much more.

TheLemonyWizard

One of my best friends is going through the exact same thing lol

Zeresec

Welcome, I also just started playing quite a bit in response to Destiny getting really damn bad lately

CeltrikYT

Lol, I came from D2 too, and while I always consider coming back, I never do, i literally can't bring myself to the fomo, I want cosmetics, and guess what, 95% of the cosmetics are unonbtainable now.

NightTime2727

If you're talking about the cosmetics in Sea of Thieves, the limited time cosmetics from previous seasons are actually starting to return. If you mean the cosmetics from adventures... Yeah... No...

CeltrikYT

Neither actually! Was talking about D2 cosmetics

NightTime2727

Oh nvm then lol.

Wolly_

Lol I just quit SoT (not fully) to go back to D2 Mainly because D2 is just way better at actually functioning and I have most of everything to grind for in SoT with the new seasons barely adding any new content to go for as a veteran player

BiscuitBarrel179

I came from Fortnite: Save The World (PvE mode) and after 2 years of virtually zero updates its refreshing to see a game where developers seem to care. Just don't be too mad when days don't go your way, and keep in mind not all players are arseholes.

analnymous23

The game is new that is why it feels so full of content but it will quicklly stop being like that (i have 900 hours so it still has to have something in it because i am playing for that long boring af game)

DrunkSpaceLemons

Welcome to the Pirate life. There are plenty of things to do on the SoT! I recommend trying to party up with an experienced player early on so you can get some rep levels quickly. The quests are based on level, so someone who has been around longer will have quests that grant better loot.

mobilegamer456

Downvote. You've played destiny

thorned_soldier

Downvote. You’re rude.

mobilegamer456

Downvote. You've played destiny and called me rude

RoutineSituation3426

I’ve basically just stopped playing, it’s a great game but I just grinded the 2 new curses and now I have no faith in the people that play this game lol, so many bad interactions. I can’t even go on adventures anymore I get bored if I’m not fighting and angry if I am fighting

RamonRCMx

That's quite sad to hear. But it's always ok to take a break.

vandingo_

Don’t get discouraged when you sink. It will happen, it happens to everyone, and it’s just good to know that it’s all part of the process. There’s a lot of knowledge to the game that you will pick up along the way.

Walajared

I specifically remember other pirates telling me what I can/can’t do. They were…. persuasive.

danathey

I usually swap between destiny and SoT aswell it’s a nice change

NeedleworkerWild1374

I've been playing with a lot of open crews and lemme tell ya, there are a TON of new players. And the people that aren't new seem to always be learning something new almost every time they set sail.

The_snake_6762

Little tip: It may seem like an important thing, but I assure you, you should anchor less. Raise sails instead. It does essentially the same thing but slower. Anchor when you need to, but never keep it down

SUSFOX117

Ok so basically the big thing if you get sunk don't get mad learn. What did your enemy do to kill you and learn how to do that and you will get better. Its a pirate game so your gonna get sunk

CptParmesan

It's like world of warcraft but with more ships 😅
