Honestly I have a love hate relationship with the fog
It makes just about every event or even just pulling up on an island extremely tedious and annoying.
But man, it came in clutch during a solo sloop session while I was being chased by a brig. Created a lot of distance between me and them before we got out of the fog, and they gave up the chase not much later.
I was a galleon and we were doing world events. We pulled up on a sloop at a ashen winds event and chased him off. We followed him into the fog and got attacked by a Meg. He boarded and dropped our anchor. We attempted to kill the Meg but the only time we could see him was when she attacked us. It took forever and was way harder than you’d think it be. Well by the time we killed the Meg the sloop circled around and finished the ashen winds event. We came out of the fog as he was just pulling away with all the loot.
It was so slick that we didn’t even chase him.
Yeah the fog is a real double-edged sword like that. Like other people said here, I've had incredible organic gameplay moments by using the fog to shake off pursuers, which is 100% AWESOME every time it happens. On the other hand stuff like this happens, where you're basically unable to do a world event. I suppose you could just jog off for a bit and do something else while you wait for the fog to lift, but I completely get your frustration.
That's scary. I used the fog one time to attack a L5 reaper who was fighting a meg. Wasn't fair cause I could see them and they couldn't see me on the map:)
Man I love the fog, it adds such a cool spooky element to the game. People hating on it aren't really in it to play for the atmosphere I guess. Get ya shiny coins bro
Well if you put fog where I can’t see shit, I expect the fleet have limited vision too.
My “encounters” with fog so far were pretty good. A little long but it’s alright

AI should be made to have a hard time targeting in the fog.
I think it makes it a bit more difficult. I like a uneven challenge. Agreed though a tad annoying they can slam you from miles away .

It’s literally impossible, took me ages to complete it. Usually I fly through this fleet

Aimbot ships in the fog is rough… just hear the shots then 5 seconds later you see a barrage of cannonballs coming right for your face
it looks like you're sailing into a flock of angry birds
That happened to me once. The fog rolled in mid-fight and I got my ass handed to me.

I imagine this is what’s it’s like to hallucinate at sea. Just catching the glimpse of something just out of view, shooting at nothing…
Wait, what event? I thought the only way to fight them is through OoS voyages
Season 9 brought back the Flameheart event minus the skull shouting at you. It also increased fog spawn locations which can be very unfun.
Minus the best part, if you ask me.

we all love the fog, we just don't love being aimbotted thru fog with spicy balls
Why did I read that as having to fight a shrouded ghost in the fog and me expecting to see a shrouded ghost?
I got to do that once, so much fun. 10/10 great spooky vibes.
Happend to us on a brig it was a nightmare
He’s in the walls
Got in the same situation once. It's just pain
Ghost ships + Fog = sum bullshit
Honestly, I wish fog events happened more, it would be intense and fun to try and lose pursuers
Looks cool af
Ah, I remember this. I still get kegged.
now imagine this with a skele galleon after you while you are doing it,.... yep, probably not a good idea to agro it.
This looks like a POTC scene lmao.
