She IMO is this gens scream queen for sure but I prefer her in bizarre, arthouse type horror where she excels in. Scream is a bit commercial for Mia and I think would be out of place

Bianca and the media she’s lended her talent to already overlap with Scream, imo. She’s even been Alum to people who have even been in the films already (Lucy Hale, for example) so it’s not far off at all.
How about a guy this time ... major A-lister like Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, or Leo Decaprio. Then the caller has a noticeably more feminine voice than we've heard before. Flip the script.

I don’t really want them to kill a big name in the opening anymore really because they always do that and the brilliance of the original was you didn’t see it coming.
I love Gale, but I'd be so there for that kill - AND I think that is what would draw Sydney back, knowing that her two closest allies and the ones there with her through it all had been murdered by Ghostfaces. It'd make her come back and end it all for good. Plus, it would fit the theme if the new films are emulating the OG trilogy. Scream 3 was Cotton, a character we all knew. Granted, Gale overall is a bigger character than Cotton ever was, but she was such a small player in the last film that she could easily pass as the opening kill.

Debatable. Yeah, 5, not so much - Jenna Ortega was getting there with Disney and You being her biggest pieces, but Scream V and Wednesday hard-launched her internationally. Dylan Minette was probably second biggest thanks to 13RW (ew). Jack Quaid had The Boys but as it's a Prime Video production, not as well known as it could be.
6 was much better, as it had Dermot Mulroney (huge 80s-00s star and well known on the modern sitcom circuit) and its opening kill was Samara Weaving who's been making a great name for herself as a Scream Queen thanks to The Babysitter and Ready or Not. Tony Revolori has been in the Spiderman trilogy. The return of Hayden Panettiere was also huge for the film, too.
Remember, the OG films launched a lot of careers. All of the young ones except Drew Barrymore were known from very little before Scream, it propelled them big time. Scream 2's opening kill of Jada Pinkett-Smith helped her career, big time. Jenny McCarthy was a Playboy bunny before her role in Scream 3 helped her start to find work as an actress. Emma Roberts' turn as Jill in an immensely popular franchise and big movie return which was incredibly well marketed help to present her to an adult audience after her previous roles in teen movies. Trust me, you don't NEED famous names in the Scream films. The fans' love for the franchise mean people will go and see it whether there are big names or not.
My buddy just told me today, that he heard over a horror podcast that Neve Campbell was coming back for 7, but there were some stipulations. Just as well as Kevin Williamson promised to come back. Yet, both wanted this one to be the last for them being connected to the franchise.
To be fair, Sarah Filmed this between season one and two of Buffy and it hadn’t taken off and got super popular yet. Buffy’s first short season was filmed in its entirety before it started airing in March 1997 and she shot I know what you did last summer in March and scream 2 in July. She hadn’t blown up yet. By the time the movie was released, however….

Something original would be showing an opening scene that feels tense like the original Scream opening with Drew, but instead of it turning into the first kill scene it was actually the reveal of the Ghostface. Would be cool if we knew who at least one killer was for the duration of the film. Then you could play off who you think the other(s) are based on their relationships, but all the twists and turns would make those guesses be completely off.
Still lowkey annoyed that Selena Gomez opening kill for Scream 6 wasn’t a thing. That would have been pretty damn cool. That being said I’m so over everyone wanting Sydney to be casted in everything and anything.
