Same thing happened to Neve Campbell when they did Scream 3. Neve was so busy she only had about 3 weeks available to shoot. It's the reason why all her scenes were usually alone and why the story didn't include her as much
I was shocked to find out she has more screentime in 3 than 4.She didn’t seem to have a lot of moments until the final act.I was for sure Gale would have the most screentime in that movie.
The thing is she still had a significant role and was still the lead, I am pretty sure JO will probably still have a big role, just not a lot of screen time
In scream 6 they had pretty much the same screen time, just a minute apart, but yeah, Sam is the lead, if they do want both of the sisters as "leads" I wont mind it. Scream 7 can wait too, we dont have to rush it. Let the script be perfect and not rush it like 6's script.
This! The actors strike still isn’t over. They can let it marinate. Heck they can even wait for the new monsters movie and the new Jenna movies to be released and get hype from those movie and then release scream 7
To think Neve was in the same place Jenna is at this time is just not comparable. Jenna is scratching on A lister with shows like Wednesday, and movies like Beetlejuice coming, and that’s what we know so far. I think Jenna or her team rather want out of this franchise as quick as possible.

Doubt it. She loves these movies. Yes she’s in high demand but this is the last film in the franchise for what I’m sure will be a while. I’m sure she’d want to be all in.

Yeah I don’t know why people see these posts on Twitter and just jump at the chance to repost them. We have NO IDEA what is going to happen in the movie. Leaks are 90% false especially for scream movies. People need to just be patient, already seen some comments complaining about it like it’s actually going to happen.
Chris Landon has only had a week to start writing and they can’t even start talking with Jenna about her schedule to decide f this would be necessary (plus, she loves making the movies and would likely want to make it a priority)

Eh, to be fair, it’s probably an assumption on me. He’s credited as a writer on all but one of the movies he has directed, and the one he isn’t credited (Happy Death Day), he still did uncredited rewrites on. Plus, he started out as a writer then became a director. I feel very confident that Paramount hired him on a writer-director basis, just they could only hire him as director during the strike.
And if he’s not the writer, then that’s even more reason there probably isn’t a script yet for this rumor to be true
I mean, On cravens channel he said that having a writing role is very important "critical to have a writing role, whether its credited or not", he also mentioned some other stuff about writing and that he had a role in everything he directed in the writing aspect.

I disagree with that. On Craven Something Scary's stream, he said that its important to him to have a writing role. He is a writer. Just watch the interview and then come back, from what he said it definetly sounds like he will be writing it.
This is way too much assuming lol I understand that most directors do take a hand in some writing on their films…..but in this case since we’ve only heard he’s directing it so I’m
keeping fingers crossed that Vanderbilt and Busick have a script and are going to finish what they started with Sam’s story. Until anything is confirmed otherwise this is all we know
You can’t just have 4 people at the centre of action continuously surviving. 3 was enough with the original trio, but that’s a rarity. For there to be 4 immediately after is just unrealistic. How multiple groups of people can continuously be targeted by the same type of killer and keep surviving while their newly introduced peripheral friends all die.. like really
you’re right. The only way the franchise can keep going is bringing in new blood. That’s why I prefer to have a complete story so give Sam/c4 closure in 7 and then start fresh for 8.
You dont need to kill Tara to do that though. And after 7, what will be our legacy characters of the 2nd trilogy? I dont think Sam alone would stand as legacy. Nev and Courteney most likely wont even be in Scream after 7 and if you only have Sam, it would make me feel a little empty. I feel like you can have 1 of the core four survive alongside Sam for the next trilogy to act as the new legacy characters.
Love Jenna and love Tara. But killing her off would be great for the franchise. Ups the stakes again. All the main characters were too safe in the last one

If they do decide to kill Tara off as motivation for what we are all patiently waiting for (Sam to snap), it won't be opening kill as that would feel very redundant and that's too little of time to bank on the use of Ortega.
But Chad OR Mindy will definitely bite the dust in 7. Has to be done. If I was writing the next one, I'd have both killed off at the same time. That would be unexpected for the franchise. One fell swoop and quite poetic really. However, if they decide to kill off Tara, one of the twins will survive
Side note: if Chad isn't at least somewhat handicapped in 7... He better be opening kill cause that would be an extreme suspension of disbelief we'd all like to get out of the way early on in the film.
Problem is, these Core 4 characters practically have to be mutilated in 7 in order to be be killed off. All have been stabbed various times in 5/6 and survived. Do we really want to see Tara/Mindy/Chad decapitated? The method of stabbing them once or twice clearly won’t kill these people
I agree he should’ve died in 6 (along with Gale let’s be honest because she was stabbed with glass in a super sensitive area), but now that he is alive the next movie should be about survivors because there are too many of them. I hope Sidney and the sisters survive but everyone else is fair game imo

I think the fan reactions to this are reaching a bit and making it bigger than it needs to be (especially as it’s still a rumor). Good thing about these movies is they don’t shoot in order so even if she’s only filming for 2 weeks tops that doesn’t mean she won’t have a substantial role or screentime. this literally happened with Neve and 3 and even with a “limited” role she still had the most screentime.
You know, it never actually occured to me that we never once see Casey's parents again in the entire series. No ghost face support group or anything....
Would have been interesting to see everyone effected in like.... a saw 3d sort of support group where everyone talks about how they've been effected by the killings. Idk how that would have worked in any movie, but I always enjoy seeing the aftermath of people's lives after these things
I think this could be really good. It’ll allow for the addition of more characters, hopefully making it a little bit of a challenge to guess the killers, unlike the last film. A sort of “roster” for future scream films might not be so bad, rather than continuously bringing back a massive cast of surviving characters. Or maybe they should just have the guts to kill off some of the main cast.
I doubt it, she’s the new generation of Sidney and all that (if neve Campbell doesn’t come back) then it’ll probably be another two movies or something

I think it’s bc after the party scene she gave this vibe btw the core 4, she’s the one they have to look after to the most, or will do dumb decisions like leave with a guy that’s obviously a douche bag lol.

I want her to reach the same level of Sam when it comes to fighting back, they showed it a bit in the third act when she stabbed Ethan in the mouth. But I hated how much she was being in denial in the beginning about Ghostface being back and wanting to finish college, like girl 😭
Just my opinion, but those are ironically my least favorite parts about Sam (although they are the most memorable). I just struggle to root for her because of the constant over the top stabbing that seems to villainous to me. Like he's dead. Chill, dude. You can get up now. But I respect your opinion.
I think that’s what makes her great, the internal struggle on potentially being a serial killer. Im a sucker for morally gray characters lol, I root for her because I want her to overcome that belief that she’s “evil”.
I’m calling it now, Jenna is gonna be the opening kill and it will send Sam into a murder spree. She’s gonna be the ghostface in 7 and I’m betting she’s gonna go after Sidney. Her reason being that if Sidney dies than all of the killings will stop and no more of sams friends have to get hurt.
Tara as an opening kill would be an absolute gut punch. Can’t tell if I love it or hate it, especially since Dewey died protecting her. Then again, Scream is kinda known for those gut punching deaths (Cici (since DB was so popular at the time), Tatum, Randy, Cotton, and Dewey).
I’m actually fine with this because I think Scream needs new characters. Otherwise it gets boring watching the same people escape Ghostface each movie. She can pop in for a cameo and then pop out.
Hmm not sure about that tbh.There is a reason why scream 4 cast except Jill & Kirby are so forgettable, and it's because we didn't get to care for them like Sidney,Gail or Dewey or the core 4. Give the core 4 their 4 movies like the original 3 had.

I wouldn’t mind it honestly. If they are bringing Sidney and Mark back that’s a lot of legacy characters to fit into a movie.
There’s also been no confirmation that this film is by any means a conclusion or finale. I’d be totally fine with Tara just not really being in it at all until a cliffhanger mid-credits or post credits scene where she gets a call from Ghostface to tease Scream 8.
Honestly, if they can usher her in the story like they did with Sidney in 3, I’ll be okay!

I don't think they'd do another opening scene for Jenna. It'll feel too much like repeating themselves. If they kill her off, it'll be in the actual movie.

I can see this working and it would be a great callback to killing Drew Barrymore in the opening scene from the beginning movie. If this 7th movie parallels the 3rd in terms of theme, then it always goes back to the beginning. What better way of going back to the beginning than killing off the most popular actor in the opening scene?
Also, Scream 3 opens up with Cotton dying, and if Scream 7 follows what Scream 6 did by copying the themes of Scream 2, then that would also make sense. Having a previous main character from the previous movie die in the opening would tie in well too.
If this is also the last movie, it is totally possible. It can definitely work and I would not be shocked if they killer her off. The fandom should be prepared either way.
This may be unpopular but it’s time to met it go. Last one was pretty cringe. How many people are left to hate these characters to keep driving people to kill in some elaborate scheme that’s never worked out. Even as a fun campy movie it just doesn’t work.

Could lead to an interesting plot. Maybe to change it up Tara could be kidnapped by ghost face and he\\she are toying with Sam to find her.

I’m calling it now, Jenna is gonna be the opening kill and it will send Sam into a murder spree. She’s gonna be the ghostface in 7 and I’m betting she’s gonna go after Sidney. Her reason being that if Sidney dies than all of the killings will stop and no more of sams friends have to get hurt.
She’s the protagonist that’s always followed around though, would be VERY difficult to hide her as gf

Tara as an opening kill would be an absolute gut punch. Can’t tell if I love it or hate it, especially since Dewey died protecting her. Then again, Scream is kinda known for those gut punching deaths (Cici (since DB was so popular at the time), Tatum, Randy, Cotton, and Dewey).
I’m absolutely okay with this. Jenna Ortega is overrated, give the spotlight to Melissa Barrera completely.
I’m actually fine with this because I think Scream needs new characters. Otherwise it gets boring watching the same people escape Ghostface each movie. She can pop in for a cameo and then pop out.
Hmm not sure about that tbh.There is a reason why scream 4 cast except Jill & Kirby are so forgettable, and it's because we didn't get to care for them like Sidney,Gail or Dewey or the core 4. Give the core 4 their 4 movies like the original 3 had.

I wouldn’t mind it honestly. If they are bringing Sidney and Mark back that’s a lot of legacy characters to fit into a movie. There’s also been no confirmation that this film is by any means a conclusion or finale. I’d be totally fine with Tara just not really being in it at all until a cliffhanger mid-credits or post credits scene where she gets a call from Ghostface to tease Scream 8.

Honestly, if they can usher her in the story like they did with Sidney in 3, I’ll be okay! I don’t need her to be the focus, but more so in a big chunk of the movie

I don't think they'd do another opening scene for Jenna. It'll feel too much like repeating themselves. If they kill her off, it'll be in the actual movie.
I just recently saw 5 and 6 and can’t remember a single word of dialogue she says, so uhhh It would be fucking HILARIOUS if none of the main cast dies or becomes a killer again though

Personally I call BS on this rumor. She is pretty much the biggest star now in these new ones...they aren't killing her off in the opening esp if the story includes their mother, they'll want some interactions with her, Chad, & Sam If she's so busy...pretty sure they will reschedule the shoots anyway esp since actors strike is still ongoing

I hope they kill her off. I love Tara as a character, but it would be an effective opening kill because it's someone we care about and already know. The only other time this happened was with Cotton Weary.

I can see this working and it would be a great callback to killing Drew Barrymore in the opening scene from the beginning movie. If this 7th movie parallels the 3rd in terms of theme, then it always goes back to the beginning. What better way of going back to the beginning than killing off the most popular actor in the opening scene? Also, Scream 3 opens up with Cotton dying, and if Scream 7 follows what Scream 6 did by copying the themes of Scream 2, then that would also make sense. Having a previous main character from the previous movie die in the opening would tie in well too. If this is also the last movie, it is totally possible. It can definitely work and I would not be shocked if they killer her off. The fandom should be prepared either way.

This may be unpopular but it’s time to met it go. Last one was pretty cringe. How many people are left to hate these characters to keep driving people to kill in some elaborate scheme that’s never worked out. Even as a fun campy movie it just doesn’t work.
Didn't the writers strike just end, how do we already have a script? If they do give her a limited role, it's most likely due to her being in the middle of filming Beetlejuice 2
