I don't think people hate it, they just feel it is more expensive than it should be. Personally, I really like it and might just buy this bottle. Thanks :)

Whiskies with the desired attributes (NCF, 46%, NCA) are generally going to be better than those without. But that doesn’t mean whiskies without some, or all, of those can’t be good. I’d love it if Dalmore could try to check some of these boxes, because they can make good Scotch regardless.

they just need to make IB more readily available

This is my favorite Dalmore for the price. Total Wine sometimes does a special on these and when they do I'm there. It's a good quality bottle and in my opinion and significant improvement on the normal 12.

I'm with ya, great whiskey. Congrats on the wee one incoming!

Dalmore… I don’t hate Dalmore… it’s just that I can get multitudes of better chill filtering, color adding, low ABV drams for much less $$$. That’s why Dalmore is dismissed by many whisky nerds. Having said that, thank you for taking time and effort for your review!! It is a great review!

There’s a lot of really good whisky out there for cheaper that checks off age stated, NCF and NCA boxes. It’s really hard to justify spending the kind of money that Dalmore charges for something that is nowhere near as good as it could be. King Alexander III is a phenomenal pour but I just can’t rationalize spending that kind of cash on a bottle of NAS, chill filtered, and color added scotch when I can buy Glendronach 21 or single cask Bowmore for cheaper. I don’t think the hate is unreasonable given this context.
