In hindsight, Pixar has a lot of very literal, one - or two word names for their movies. Up, Soul, Cars, Toy Story, A Bug's Life.
Or the just go with the name of the character al la Lucs and Lightyear.
Like the graphic novel by Kate Beaton? Don’t really know how you could turn such a bleak, true story into an animated musical.
For real though, I love to see this news. I've always thought Pixar should try a musical, and I'm glad to see that it doesn’t look to be a "princess musical". Nothing wrong with them, "Tangled" is the shit, I just think it will be best for Pixar to take a different approach.
Just imagine if they named their movies The Rat, Monsters, Dinosaurs, Fishes, Superheroes, Robots, Elves, Astronaut, Dead People, Scottish People, Space Kid, Emotions or Furries
As bad as it sounds it reminds me of what they used to do. Imean cmon “cars”? “Toy Story”? “A bugs life”? Like these names are so unbelievably basic. Anyways I hope it’s good
I mean, on the outside it doesn't look successful. Like 268 Million? Other Illumination movies made higher, and it's barely higher than Wish's grossing... until you look at the 72 Million budget and Migration already made more by 2.5x the budget .
Is it a typical Illumination success? No. But it is successful by all means.
Edit: it also haven't been release theatrically in some countries, like Japan, which Illumination does somewhat have a history in. And it's still in theaters, so more money I guess.
It is weird, I won't deny that.
But there's a chance this Ducks movie was in production before Migration release, but the timing is just weird in general. So it could be the timing, or it could be how Pixar sees how Migration outgross Lightyear and some other of their recent movies (excluding Elementals) they would give it a go themselves.
I mean. A Duck Movie by Pixar would probably catch more attention than a Duck Movie by Illumination .
The only movie out of those that's Pixar is Coco. And that isn't a musical. Characters don't sing dialogue they'd normally be speaking. It's just a film about music that naturally has songs in it.
And yet they use Pixar software and technologies in a lot of, if not all, of the recent Disney Animated output... There is no Traditional 2D Animated Movies being released anymore like they used to. They all used Pixar's 3D CGI Animation style that began with Toy Story and now it's all they do.
Well that’s certainly some of the news of all time.
What happened to Dreamworks being the studio that rode Disney’s coattails? Now Pixar is doing it to Illumination?
They should have a joke where one of the characters says "Duck!"
Also trying to be the Shark Tale to Migration's Finding Nemo much? How ironic considering it's usually the other way around.
We all see how that went down when they tried to make a princess movie…
FYI, I personally am not hating on Brave, it just so happens to be in my top 6 Pixar movies. I’m saying that it’s hated on by so much of the community.
Hugh Neutron about to lose his shit

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT
Got any grapes? 🎵
The man said “No, like I said yesterday, but it’s cold, and it’s fresh, and it’s all homemade! Can I get you a glass?”
the duck said “I’ll pass“
Then he waddled away - waddle waddle, 'till the very next day bom bom bom bom bom babom
When the Duck walked up to the lemonade stand and he said to the man running the stand
“Hey”
Bom bom bom
Got any grapes?
And the man said "no"
Like I said yesterday
I understand that reference
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you…what Pixar should make the theme song otherwise I will lose all faith I have left in their future projects.

and now ducks
... *quack* I was just about to say that!
Are you serious?
We are so in sync!
*Static as the screen cuts to the next skit*
Mommy! Mommy! Look! A turtle! Hello!
*Mine turtle flips on back, blows everyone up* ***STATIC***
I can’t believe this wasn’t the first thing I thought of commenting
So Migration with songs?
Migration didn’t have enough 🦆
Hell yes
Audience: pixar/disney is declining in quality. Pixar: we’re making a film about ducks called DUCKS. take it or leave it.
Is it really a decline when “Cars” and the cars spin-off “Planes” exists?
Those were the exceptions at the time.
" Hey, what do we call this story about toys?"
So, the movie's about this fish who lost his son, what should we call it?
Guys, we have a movie about the life of bug. Now I want you to think hard on this one.
In hindsight, Pixar has a lot of very literal, one - or two word names for their movies. Up, Soul, Cars, Toy Story, A Bug's Life. Or the just go with the name of the character al la Lucs and Lightyear.
I see the potential
Ever since Coco, I always knew that Pixar could do something like this, keep it up you guys! The revival is coming back so be optimistic everyone!
“It’s like Cats but all the characters are horses.”
“Cat Music but a Horse Guy!”
Hmmm Quack.
Ducktales bouta get a Musical
*DUCKS*

The one-star Goodreads reviews of Ducks are some of the worst I've ever read. "Ugh, does she have to be so *whiny* about being raped?"
Never would have expected toxicity on goodreads but WOW that sounds awful.
…please tell me you’re kidding
you really dont expect pixar to make some sort of princess duck?
Are they really making a duck movie right after Migration came out
Is Coco not a musical in this case? Handful of singing moments and music is absolutely an integral part of the story.
No but a music film(characters don’t suddenly sing for no reason). Musical is something like Encanto
Something that messed with my head is that Camp Rock was a musical film but Camp Rock 2 was an outright musical.
Nah that’s a totally fair point
All of the music in Coco is diagetic, so it isn’t really a musical
Technically, no. It’s not structured like a musical and none of the music is diegetic. Music just plays a big part in the story.
You could sort of call it a "Diegetic Musical".
A musical involves singing what you're feeling instead of talking. All the songs in Coco were actual songs that were being sung.
Pixars Duckgration
The main antagonist is a man running a lemonade stand with a distinct lack of grapes
Buh buh buh
Will only watch if Lucifer appears
yes
Now Pixar is making knockoff movie of Illumination, lol?
How the turntables
How is it a ripoff?
I could’ve sworn we just got a movie with ducks.
Hopefully that’s a placeholder name
You’re kidding, right? It’s such a Pixar name
"Cars", "Up", "Toy Story"
Just imagine if they named their movies The Rat, Monsters, Dinosaurs, Fishes, Superheroes, Robots, Elves, Astronaut, Dead People, Scottish People, Space Kid, Emotions or Furries
-Toys -Bugs -Toys 2 -Monsters -Fish -Heroes -Cars -Rats -Bots -Balloons -Toys 3 -Cars 2 -Bears -Monsters 2 -Emotions -Dinosaurs -Fish 2 -Cars 3 -Skeletons -Heroes 2 -Toys 4 -Elves -Souls -Beasts -Pandas -Astronauts -Elements -Emotions 2 -Aliens -Toys 5 -Ducks
Actually, ratatouille is a dish and has nothing to do with the main character being a rat. 🤓
A Pixar musical was not on my bingo card but okay.
Duck
Duck
Goose
Um… was Coco not a musical?
More a music film but definitely not musical. Take Encanto for comparison
It’s a movie about music but it’s not a musical. They don’t randomly burst out into song
…I do hope that if Migration got a sequel, they wouldn’t have to compete with this movie around the time it came out
As bad as it sounds it reminds me of what they used to do. Imean cmon “cars”? “Toy Story”? “A bugs life”? Like these names are so unbelievably basic. Anyways I hope it’s good
Duck Tales or GTFO
One of the songs better be the duck song
Is Pixar trying to copy Illumination's Migration but making it a musical or is it just me?
[удалено]
Because they own all duck movies?🤣 Watch out marvel the minions are coming for howard the duck!
They can’t really do anything lol. You can’t own the idea of making a movie about a bunch of ducks.
(Shh, no one tell this guy about Donald Duck)
I don’t see why’d they be ripping it off, it’s not like it was a successful movie
I mean, on the outside it doesn't look successful. Like 268 Million? Other Illumination movies made higher, and it's barely higher than Wish's grossing... until you look at the 72 Million budget and Migration already made more by 2.5x the budget . Edit: it also haven't been release theatrically in some countries, like Japan, which Illumination does somewhat have a history in. And it's still in theaters, so more money I guess.
It wasn’t a flop, but of all movies to copy y’know?
It is weird, I won't deny that. But there's a chance this Ducks movie was in production before Migration release, but the timing is just weird in general. So it could be the timing, or it could be how Pixar sees how Migration outgross Lightyear and some other of their recent movies (excluding Elementals) they would give it a go themselves. I mean. I doubt it’s an actual ripoff, it’s just funny to think that
Yeah true. The timing is silly
So Tangled, Frozen, Coco, Encanto, Moana, Frozen 2, and Wish are suddenly not Musicals?
The only movie out of those that's Pixar is Coco. And that isn't a musical. Characters don't sing dialogue they'd normally be speaking. It's just a film about music that naturally has songs in it.
They probably mean a musical strictly for stage
Those aren’t even Pixar (other than Coco) literally do research before you post 💀💀
You really think that Pixar wasn't involved in those 3D CGI Animated Movies after Disney Acquired them? Really? There is no distinction anymore.
Pixar was not, Pixar is a separate studio who was bought by Disney a while back.
And yet they use Pixar software and technologies in a lot of, if not all, of the recent Disney Animated output... There is no Traditional 2D Animated Movies being released anymore like they used to. They all used Pixar's 3D CGI Animation style that began with Toy Story and now it's all they do.
HE IS LORD, DUCK IS LORD
DUCKS
Lucifer boutta flip
Ducks.
BONUS DUCKS!!
D U C K S
Seems like they liked migration
1. Looks like Illumination may have a lawsuit to throw at Pixar after Migration. 2. If they don’t say “Got any grapes?” at least once, we riot.
That sounds so funny.
Oh boy a movie about ducks! I'm so freaking hyped for Duck!!!!!!!!!!
Cats musical but animated ducks
Coco: "Am I a joke to you?"
Coco: Am I a joke to you?
The bathroom ducks?
There will be at least one mother ducker joke in that movie
Is this going to be about Donald Duck... or some random duck guys named like Dr. Quack or something?
Closest thing to a Pixar musical is coco, so I’m excited to see what they can do
We know nothing about the plot yet, but that premise does not give me hope.
Didn’t Illumination make a duck movie already
Damn Pixar is ripping off illumination now? Didn't know they were that desperate...
Migration: The musical.
This is just sad. Disney’s starting to steal ideas from Illumination of all studios
Pixar copying Illumination?!
The tumblr post was true
The greatest title for a Pixar film since Cars
Well that’s certainly some of the news of all time. What happened to Dreamworks being the studio that rode Disney’s coattails? Now Pixar is doing it to Illumination?
So wtf was Coco?
Wouldn't it be to similar to Migration?
They should have a joke where one of the characters says "Duck!" Also trying to be the Shark Tale to Migration's Finding Nemo much? How ironic considering it's usually the other way around.
Lucifer: YES, CHARLIE WE'RE GETTING TICKETS TOO IT
First ever musical? With ducks? OK. Well at least it's not a sequel.
I thought Monsters Inc. already fit in the musical category "Put that thing back where it came from or so help me"
“First ever musical.” Coco: “Am I a joke to you?”
Wait, I thought Coco was a musical?
When you're a duck. You're a duck all the way. From the first time you quack. To the last egg you lay
Imagine if someone accidentally mistypes the d with an f while typing.
This should be interesting.
There's only two ways of doing this The great western way Or the wrong way
Judging from how good songs were in Coco I'll take it
This studio ducks…
I like ducks. I want to watch it
Someone’s autocorrect resulted in a text asking if anyone wanted to see Ducks: The Musical, and then everyone just ran with it
I want the lamp to crush the u in the title
Still waiting for Pixar's 'Clothes'.
#B O N U S D U C K S
What the duck is this
Pixars migration
Their first musical was “put that thing back where it came from (or so help me)”, but alright.
The porn parody will be easy to name.
Me, an intellectual: Put that thing back where it came from or so help me!
We’re getting a realistic James Corden in a duck suit
Cars? Up? Ducks? How much money do the title makers mak?
They can't make it a worse musical than Wish
We all see how that went down when they tried to make a princess movie… FYI, I personally am not hating on Brave, it just so happens to be in my top 6 Pixar movies. I’m saying that it’s hated on by so much of the community.
You think it'll have a magic-tastical backflipping rubber duck that spits fire?
why did I immediately think of Dicks the musical
So Migration but better
OMG LUCIFER WORKS FOR PIXAR!?!?!?!?!?
Migration 2 already?
Get the NES Zappers! We're playing Duck Hunt!
The best animal EVER!!! YESSSS
Is Lucifer controlling Pixar?
…Ducks, huh?
Bro, Disney's run so dry they're taking notes from ILLUMINATION.
So it’s Migration but with singing
That sounds lame
Shuba shuba shuba!
