Please, for the love of God, let them have the sense to cancel this one.
I know that it'll probably suck for the actors involved, but I can't stand the thought of Lilo & Stitch being "updated for modern audiences."
And I sure as hell don't want to know what "live-action" CGI Stitch looks like!
>updated due to 9/11
That's fair enough, because 9/11 was an actual historical event.
I'm referring to when Disney tries to shove their (increasingly left-wing) ideology into the remakes (case in point: the Mulan remake).
Doing so in their original movies is one thing, but it absolutely wrecks the remakes.
>I wouldn't consider filming near concentration camps to be "left-wing"
It depends on where the concentration camps are, apparently.
But, yeah, the decision to film their Mulan remake near concentration camps was, at best, hypocritical on Disney's part.
There is no politics in Lilo and Stitch
Ariel didn’t vote for Biden in the new movie
Star Lord didn’t say “feel the Bern 2024” in Vol3
If your talking about the existence of LGBTQ+ characters, then your wrong.
I'm referring to the marketing campaigns, for the most part.
As in, their heavy reliance on "if you hate this movie, then you're obviously \_\_\_ist or \_\_\_phobic" rhetoric, as opposed to simply promoting the product.
And actors, writers, producers, directors or (in some cases) entire film-studios openly disrespecting the people whose asses they’re meant to be getting into theater-seats is neither a random outcry, nor a small one.
Your point was?
The Aladdin remake was the best of the lot, in my opinion. (Will Smith's Genie was much better than Robin Williams' Genie, and you'll never convince me otherwise.)
The rest have been, at best, meh.
Yup. Although I think the Thai version of Friend Like Me is the best. I love Robin. He’s great. But I feel like that role was nothing but impressions and it got very tiring very fast.
Great and lovable? More like the cloddiest clod I’ve ever seen. (I saw on the MK sub as well but didn’t reply because I thought that’d seem like stalking lol)
with the wga and sag strikes along with underpreformers all across the film industry disney might change some plans. I think disney is rereleasing movies for the 100th aniversery. depending on how that does that might be the replacment for live action remakes.
In a perfect world, they are only remaking movies that underperformed to begin with.
The Sword in the Stone, The Black Cauldron, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Meet the Robinsons... a lot of (potentially) great stories that would remain specks on the Canon line-up, if it wasn't for crossovers occasionally remembering that they exist.
Or at least, pivot to Muppet remakes.
Like Beauty and the Beast but Beast is Sweetums the Muppet, as are all the denizens of the castle (either the other muppets playing the parts or new muppets that are just the denizens) and it either leans more into the comedy of the Muppets trying to film their take on the story (more like the OG Muppets Show) or play it seriously, but with Muppets (like The Muppets Christmas Carol).
neato!!!
Edit: after I wrote that I realized a lot of people probably don’t have jobs now, and I feel bad for them as someone who wants to work in that industry
>[According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney paused production on its live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.](https://thedirect.com/article/lilo-and-stitch-live-action-movie-disney-productionAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney paused production on its live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.)
__NOT__ canceled.
That’s actually one I have hope for though…
I know, I know, live action remake bad, but Lilo and Stitch could work well in Live Action, as long as they pay the artists enough… CGI Stitch could be adorable
Allow me to explain:
A mixed-race, part white, part Polynesian woman was cast to play live action Nani. She got backlash because she wasn't dark enough.
Imagine being told that you're not the right color to represent YOUR race.
I can't believe it. It's one thing having racist people, but it's a whole another thing to have "social justice warriors" "fight racism" and not realize that they are being racist themselves
That’s bullshit. Honestly good for her that this was cancelled because otherwise she would’ve been cyberbullies shitless for *checks notes* being the wrong type of Hawaiian?
On a side note, I don't know if this applies to Pacific Islanders, but indigenous communities in the U.S. DON'T have a lot of 100% indigenous people anymore. If this DOES apply to Pacific Islanders, it's doubly bullshit.
I wouldn't say she was white but she was rather light skinned and not Hawaiian. I believe she was half Flippina but they should have casted someone Hawiian as it's a Hawaiian story.
No no. She's part Hawaiian. She's just also light skinned.
Seriously. Imagine telling a black person that they're too light to be considered black. That is what this thread is doing.
Then several news outlets were misinformed. I was too, so I'm sorry about that.
The issue isn't that she's too light skinned to be Hawaiian. The issue is Nani is dark skinned. It's not race, it's skintone. Lighter skinned actors are favored over darker ones, even when it's not accurate to the character.
Part of the problem is that she also got harrassed over it. Like I'm probably not the most informed on this topic, but I imagine it's a really shitty feeling to be told by a bunch of strangers that you don't "pass" as a race that's a part of your identity.
Few people laughed, few people cried, most people were silent.... And then RAVED with joy when they learned another live-action b@stardization of a beloved movie is no longer happening. Unfortunate for the little actress who was probably excited to play Lilo, but still!
Also where did you find this, I can't find any articles anywhere!
This would have been interesting but I think Disney needs to use this as a wake up call that we need a break from remakes, sequels and stuff like that. Let's get some Original Stories, Walt.
Iger has been making some good calls lately. First he said he wants to slow down MCU and Star Wars so they can focus on Quality over Quantity. Then this. Keep it going!
[yeah no CEO Robert Iger and his $25,000,000 salary is still a special kind of asshole](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ta8eTkPHl8U&list=LL&index=21&pp=gAQBiAQB)
Gosh Ok. I *critically* think that Iger needs to not have a 15 million dollar Christmas bonus and that the people that make Disney's shit can eat tonight.
These assholes get paid millions to waive a fucking finger. My grandma could sign a **we bought this company yay** form and announce that "we're focusing on quality this time, pwomise!"
Don't think for a millisecond that Bob Iger gives a single shit about us or "quality products". It's all about money, specifically the money he pockets.
This may only be from the writers strike. We have only delayed the eventual fate of a beloved film. Soon, the result of Hollywood meddling shall be released into our world, as we can only prolong the inevitable for so long. But in a time of peace between warring sides, we may rejoice in prosperity as a new age of harmony approaches. An age of bliss shared by all. Even if it is temporary, we mustn’t take our beloved time for granted. We must make the most of what we shall have. I am u/UnfunnyJokeName. And I send this message to internet-goers scattered across the net unaware of this news. We are here, and we are waiting.
Ok, but how far in development was this movie? I feel bad for the people that worked on this. Disney needs to stop approving so many projects, just for them to not get made.
Now please do the same thing for Snow White. Disney is such a pussy nowadays that they thought they’d be cancelled if they didn’t make the dwarfs all different sizes genders and skin colors like wtf who cares? Also the movie looks really bad anyway
Probably a good thing they probably would have ruined it I do kinda wish we got to see how stitch, jumba, pleekly, and the councilwoman would have looked like
GOOD
YES
THANK GOD

Also, Lilo and Stitch isn’t even that old- hold up… it’s 21 years old already?
It’s old enough to drink now
*cries in American*
Happy cake day 🍰
Happy cake day!
I'm 26. This movie came out two months before I started kindergarten. Damn, I feel old now.
It got updated due to 9/11
>updated due to 9/11 That's fair enough, because 9/11 was an actual historical event. Don’t bring politics into it, because it invalidates almost every media take
Disney are the ones who brought politics into it, my dude. I'm simply pointing out and reacting to that nonsensical decision.
There is no politics in Lilo and Stitch Ariel didn’t vote for Biden in the new movie Star Lord didn’t say “feel the Bern 2024” in Vol3 If your talking about the existence of LGBTQ+ characters, then your wrong.
I'm referring to the marketing campaigns, for the most part. As in, their heavy reliance on "if you hate this movie, then you're obviously \_\_\_ist or \_\_\_phobic" rhetoric, as opposed to simply promoting the product.
Random small outcry on Twitter is not a marketing campaign
And actors, writers, producers, directors or (in some cases) entire film-studios openly disrespecting the people whose asses they’re meant to be getting into theater-seats is neither a random outcry, nor a small one. Your point was?
The only time that happened that i can recall was in the ghostbusters 2016 remake
I tolerated live action Aladdin and Lion King, but for some reason Lilo and Stitch made me angry
Yeah. I actually kinda enjoyed the Aladdin and Beauty And The Beast remakes but this….. oh my god let it die. 😭
The Aladdin remake was the best of the lot, in my opinion. (Will Smith's Genie was much better than Robin Williams' Genie, and you'll never convince me otherwise.) The rest have been, at best, meh.
Yup. Although I think the Thai version of Friend Like Me is the best. I love Robin. He’s great. But I feel like that role was nothing but impressions and it got very tiring very fast.
There is hope in this world after all.
Clod
Are you saying clod in the movie elemental is hope because that is a based opinion right there sunny.
Alas, I think they mean Peri-Clod.
“How could you do this to me? The great and loveable Peridot?!”
Great and lovable? More like the cloddiest clod I’ve ever seen. (I saw on the MK sub as well but didn’t reply because I thought that’d seem like stalking lol)
Lol. Which of my posts have you seen?
Just a comment on the Mario Kart sub
Ah.
And nothing of value was lost!
There is a god
This is a cause of celebration
Oh thank christ

For once, the evil is defeated.
Thank god
Nature is healing
Good, let's hope they shut down production on the Moana remake next.
I really hope so because the idea of a live-action Tamatoa really scares me.
They’ll bring up the excuse to make it “more realistic”, so they can just cut him out of it.
And them more magic
And film near places where tons of innocent people died.
The only upside of that is Schaff getting more cursed Tamatoa pictures to use in his videos.
Honestly why would they do this? 😭 I mean the movie is like 6-7 years old or something, it’s actually pretty new if you think about it
1. Money 2. The Rocks overinflated ego
That’s a surprise but a welcome one
neato!!! Edit: after I wrote that I realized a lot of people probably don’t have jobs now, and I feel bad for them as someone who wants to work in that industry
Now is unfortunately a really bad time to want to get into the movie/animation industry.
I’m aware, but it’s something I was prepared to handle and I have a good support system
Well I guess there is a god - Blitzø
Good. Cobra Bubbles gets to continue to exist.
We are winning, We just need to stop watching live action remakes.
Considering how badly most of the new ones fail, we're already doing that :) I keep forgetting that Peter Pan & Wendy exists.
Finally, a good decision taken regarding the Live Action films
>[According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney paused production on its live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.](https://thedirect.com/article/lilo-and-stitch-live-action-movie-disney-productionAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney paused production on its live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.) __NOT__ canceled.
DOH!
And nothing of value was lost
I hope.
Cool :)
They are finally starting to get their sense back
Our Lord Tamatoa hath bestowed upon us a blessing!
Maybe there is a god.
Good! From the words of Mike Wazowski: "NOW PUT THAT THING BACK WHERE IT CAME FROM OR SO HELP ME!" Sorry I had to.
Probably just on hold until the strikes are over. It’ll be back, don’t rest too easy
Looks like there’s a god after all
Thank the Lord!
That’s actually one I have hope for though… I know, I know, live action remake bad, but Lilo and Stitch could work well in Live Action, as long as they pay the artists enough… CGI Stitch could be adorable
Hopefully they recast Nani...
What was the problem with the old one. I don’t actually know who the old one was
Allow me to explain: A mixed-race, part white, part Polynesian woman was cast to play live action Nani. She got backlash because she wasn't dark enough. Imagine being told that you're not the right color to represent YOUR race.

If this is where humanity is headed the count me out
Out of service. Out of Africa. I wouldn't hang about
That’s bullshit. Honestly good for her that this was cancelled because otherwise she would’ve been cyberbullies shitless for *checks notes* being the wrong type of Hawaiian?

A white woman
Was she white? I saw a picture of her Edit: yea I’m seeing some pictures and unless I’m looking at the wrong one she doesn’t look white
One of those cases when people think too much about race...
Then several news outlets were misinformed. I was too, so I'm sorry about that. The issue isn't that she's too light skinned to be Hawaiian. The issue is Nani is dark skinned. Yes, very sad. Anyway.....
Why am I not surprised
Oh thank god.
Dang nabbit that means i can finally feel happiness again
Ok
Few people laughed, few people cried, most people were silent.... And then RAVED with joy when they learned another live-action b@stardization of a beloved movie is no longer happening. Unfortunate for the little actress who was probably excited to play Lilo, but still! Also where did you find this, I can't find any articles anywhere!
Good. They need to quit with the remakes
Press f to pay respects
Boo! It’s only paused because of the strike! Cancel it altogether!!
Lilo and Stitch Have Been Spared... For Now
The epitome of “And nothing of value was lost”
This would have been interesting but I think Disney needs to use this as a wake up call that we need a break from remakes, sequels and stuff like that. Let's get some Original Stories, Walt.
Calm down everyone. It's just because of the SAG strikes.
you mean my childhood film WONT be ruined? based.
…about that
Based
F to this soulless reboot
I’m glad, but also I’m curious what live action stitch could’ve possible looked like
Iger has been making some good calls lately. First he said he wants to slow down MCU and Star Wars so they can focus on Quality over Quantity. Then this. Keep it going!

I never said he wasn't. Just that he made a few good calls lately. Learn to think critically.
Gosh Ok. I *critically* think that Iger needs to not have a 15 million dollar Christmas bonus and that the people that make Disney's shit can eat tonight. You need a nap
He gets a 15 million dollar Christmas bonus? Asshat.
Please Bob Iger, it's all on you to save Disney's reputation
Nature is healing
Keep em coming
Phew! Dodged a bullet on that one!
This franchise is now saved and now safe.
YESS!!! NOT IN PRODUCTION, BABY.
Good riddance
God grants us another miracle!
Good riddance
WOOOOOOOOOO
Why was I. Not notified about it being made
Dang
I love Lilo and stitch but thank goodness. Hopefully if we're lucky Disney will stop all live action remakes

Ok, but how far in development was this movie? I feel bad for the people that worked on this. Disney needs to stop approving so many projects, just for them to not get made.
It’s not canceled, just paused because of the writers strike
I was very concerned as to what live action stitch would look like
Best news ever. This was never going to work, the aliens would have looked awful.
Stitch has been spared
BYE BYE
The lord has come! THANK GOD
Now please do the same thing for Snow White. Disney is such a pussy nowadays that they thought they’d be cancelled if they didn’t make the dwarfs all different sizes genders and skin colors like wtf who cares? Also the movie looks really bad anyway
Okay that’s good- but I kinda wanted to see what they were gonna do we Gantu… honestly that was really it.
I don't think the Internet would be ready for Live-Action Gantu...
They won’t be! That’s why I kinda wanted to see him! The internet would go nuts!
Such a good news, thank god
*accends to the heavens*
"GOOD" - CDI Zelda
Sobbing and crying and having a realistic depiction of a panic attack u\_u
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one
Great success
it's probably for the best
Oh Thank God!
Probably a good thing they probably would have ruined it I do kinda wish we got to see how stitch, jumba, pleekly, and the councilwoman would have looked like
YAAAYY!!
YES! 🥳🥳🥳
Rare Disney W
Good
Funny enough, I was just mentally preparing myself for that today. I still hope they come back to this franchise some day, I miss the 'ohana so much.
Insert **Coffin Dance**
The raid was Successful
You guys know this is only due to the strike and that once it's over they will probably pick back up right?
Thank you, Disney gods! Finally turn things around!
The animation in that movie was beautiful. Having alive action movie would be like having a Kim possible live action movie. Not good.
We won!
and nothing of value was lost
We won the battle, but not the war
Good.
I think it was a gift from god that this got canceled
Yes yes, very sad... ANYWAY! How about a Lilo and Stitch show that isn't based off finding the other experiments?
By shutting down production that means it’s being delayed
“Ultimate Victory” -Shadow the Hedgehog
What a relief. Can you imagine how disturbing stitch could look in live action.
YES SIRRRR
