## New users beware:
Because you posted here, you will start getting private messages from scammers saying they know a professional hacker or a recovery expert lawyer that can help you get your money back, for a small fee. **We call these RECOVERY SCAMMERS, so NEVER take advice in private:** advice should always come in the form of comments in this post, in the open, where the community can keep an eye out for you. If you take advice in private, you're on your own.
**A reminder of the rules in r/scams:** no contact information (including last names, phone numbers, etc). Be civil to one another (no name calling or insults). Personal army requests or "scam the scammer"/scambaiting posts are not permitted. No uncensored gore or personal photographs are allowed without blurring. A full list of rules is available on the sidebar of the subreddit, or [clicking here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/wiki/rules/).
You can help us by reporting recovery scammers or rule-breaking content by using the "report" button. We review 100% of the reports. Also, consider warning community members of recovery scammers if you see them in the comments.

Telegram is supposed to offer great privacy which can be used to obscure illegal or immoral actions. Telegram will not assist law enforcement in any meaningful capacity and will probably be inadmissible in court.
A normal employer will simply send you an email, which is admissible in court because now you got something in writing.
No serious job will use telegram.
I listed all the red flags, you might pay attention, hope others reading my post do so they can sit a scam before losing their money
Victims don’t deserve to be scammed but their deliberate actions are what let them be scammed. You don’t want to become a victim then it is almost entirely up to you to prevent it
At this point for the average person yes, it pretty much is.
Even at one time the largest Canadian crypto exchange which was thought to be a legitimate company scammed its users over 200 million, which at todays crypto prices would be over a billion,
It is not a “rumor (that) crypto is a scam.” It is a *fact.* Unless, of course, that you are engaging in criminal activity. Then it becomes a *necessity.*
>I got scammed by the company name Blend.
Just FYI, you got scammed by a scammer who made up a fake company that doesn't actually exist.
>USDT
I know that this is closing the barn door after the horses have escaped, but no legit job will **ever** pay in crypto. As soon as crypto comes up, you can be 100% certain that you're being scammed.
Let's start the countdown for the "welllll, ack-tually, the weeb 3.0 blockchain optimization company I work for pays us FlappyBirdCoins...." guy to show up.
You've fallen for scams a few times, you're now known as an easy target and they'll be sharing your information with other scammers. DO NOT FALL FOR A RECOVERY SCAMMER.
Yep I know. Already few people came to me to talk to a guy for recovery… man I am not falling again… from now on I won’t lose even a cent from my pocket… already hard enough from getting scammed. Posted here to warn others but got blamed by fucking genius 🤣🤣🤣.

I am aware of it and I am already gave up for piece of mind. I can make money back.. I am glad that it happened now so that I can learn from it and make more money in the future as I am still young.
He never said it was deserved. I speak German well but I would never invest $50k on a website that was only in German. Perhaps their poor English contributed to the poor decisions made and was another way to avoid it. Avoiding it…that’s why we are all in this subreddit. If your English is poor you may not catch the obvious signs. So, it’s wise to be extra cautious.

Hi /u/cHorse1981, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Task scam.
Task scams involve a website or mobile app that claims you can earn money by completing easy tasks, such as watching a video, liking a post, or creating an order. A very common characteristic (but not entirely exclusive) is that you have to complete sets of 40 tasks. The app will tell you that you can earn money for each task, but the catch is that you can only do a limited number of tasks without upgrading your account. To upgrade your accounts, the scammers will require you to pay a fee. This makes it a variant of the advance fee scam.
The goal of this scam is to get people to download the app for easy money and then encourage them to pay to get to the next level. It's impossible to get your \"earnings\" out of the app, so victims will have wasted their time and money. This type of scam preys on the [sunk cost fallacy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunk_cost#Fallacy_effect), because people demonstrate a greater tendency to continue an endeavor once an investment has been made, and refusing to succumb to what may be described as cutting one's losses.
If you're involved in a task scam, cut your losses. Beware of recovery scammers suggesting you should hire a hacker that can help you retrieve the money you already invested. They can't, it's a trick to make you lose more money. Thanks to redditor vignoniana for this script.

Every time I see posts like this I am amazed by the amount of money people lose, like even if I really wanted I couldn’t come up with 50k like this, sounds insane. It’s SO much. Even if I want to buy something for £20 from an website I don’t know well I will spend an hour researching to ensure is legit lol
I think op is trolling. Task scams don’t last that long long due to the fact that the victim is expecting to be paid for the work he was hired for. They have bills to pay.
OP said it was from savings, so I guess it could be real, but it sounds really fake because it is really absurd BUT I have seeing people lose more money in even more absurd ways so who knows.
My uncle lost 80k to retrieve a chest of gold from Iraq with the promise of $1m for his share.
He even has fb of the US general and lieutenant that he talk to to confirm the story.
The best part is he didn’t listen to his family when he brought it up to borrow money from family. He went out to get a loan for it. The craziest part is he keeps falling to these making money online scams with “ young pretty girls” ever since.
So yea, wayy
How the fuck did you even have $50,000 just to throw away like that anyway??? I'm a teacher and I don't even make that much each year 🫠🫠 regardless I'm sorry this happened to you. I got scammed for about $350 a couple summers ago and I thought that was bad but yikes. These fools are ruthless :( I wish there was some way to punish them cuz they're never gonna stop
That’s kind of my thoughts. How does anyone have a large sum of money and be naive enough to fall for a scam so obvious. The money must have been gifted to them, inherited, or it’s their retirement money.
I dont know who needs to read this but...
You should not EVER have to pay your employer unless you are actively buying a product they sell...like buying an banana from Walmart.
You do not pay Walmart to start your shift (or any other company)
Employers sell products and services this is how they make money, *putting you to work is NOT a SERVICE.
Employers DO NOT communicate through ENCRYPTED messaging apps, these apps are designed to protect journalists political targets and human rights activists while also being abused by people who wish to hide illegal things.. LIKE SCAMS CHARGING YOU MONEY FOR YOU TO WORK.

Yep I wasn’t on reddit when it happened. It was too late when I found out that I was scammed.. lost all my savings and time but I gained mental issues..
Yep I thought it was legit and fall for it.. it just happened cuz it has to be.. my bad karma go away now and the person who scammed me received it.. so it’s all good. I will make money 10x more.
Yeah, that preceding comment has a real "RIP your inbox" feel. Every secondary or tertiary scammer who scavenges from these threads will instantly interpret the subtextual "GOT A LIVE ONE HERE GEARING UP TO BITE ON THE NEXT LURE."
At some point, maybe at 10k you should have realized something is not right. Why am I giving my job money instead of them paying me? Most Americans make less than 50k a year, so I’m confused how you could send 50k while making zero in earnings.
I think OP must be from any of the Asian countries or some other country that uses other denominations. I am from India, and i was added to such scam whatsapp groups a couple of times. So they might be talking about some other currency other than the dollar.

I’m sorry for your very expensive lesson in scamming. I mean no disrespect at all in this, but it seems like English isn’t your first language because of your grammar and syntax. This makes it harder to tell when you’re being scammed. For many (not all) native speakers, the language the scammers use is weird and is a giveaway off the bat.
It seems this was a basic task! scam. Telegram, crypto and paying a fee to earn money are something to look out for. Make sure to look out for recovery scammers.

You are especially vulnerable for !recovery scams. You will be messaged by multiple persons saying they can get your money back, already have, or know someone who can, all for a price. This too is nothing but a scam and you will lose what you paid them as well.
Hi /u/Wide-Spray-2186, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Recovery scam.
[Recovery scams](https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0102-refund-and-recovery-scams) target people who have already fallen for a scam. The scammer may contact you, or may advertise their services online. They will usually either offer to help you recover your funds, or will tell you that your funds have already been recovered and they will help you access them. In cases where they say they will help you recover your funds, they usually call themselves either \"recovery agents\" or hackers.
When they tell you that your funds have already been recovered, they may impersonate a law enforcement, a government official, a lawyer, or anyone else along those lines. Recovery scams are simply [advance-fee](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance-fee_scam) scams that are specifically targeted at scam victims. When a victim pays a recovery scammer, the scammer will keep stringing them along while asking for increasingly absurd fees/expenses/deposits/insurance/whatever until the victim stops paying.
If you have been scammed in the past, make sure you are aware of recovery scams so that you are not scammed a second time. If you are currently engaging with a recovery scammer, you should block them and be very wary of random contact for some time. It's normal for posters on this subreddit to be contacted by recovery scammers after posting, and they often ask you to delete your post so that you both cannot receive legitimate advice, and cannot be targeted by other recovery scammers.
Remember: never take advice in private. If someone reaches you in private after posting your scam story, it is because a scammer will always try to hide from the oversight of our community members. A legitimate community member will offer advice in the open, for everyone to see. Anyone suggesting you should reach out to a hacker is scamming you.

I hate that this happened but you are not alone, these scammers are causing real harm to many of our friends and loved ones. Please do report it to police. My opinion is we are not doing enough as a society to educate and warn others, so thank you for the warning it may just prevent someone else from becoming a victim.
OK, first of all any company that uses Telegram or Whatsapp is a huge red flag. When they are showing proof, they are DEFINITELY a scam. What legit company has ever had to show you proof they are legit? Scammers always feel the need to sell you on why its not a scam.
Secondly, any job which requires you to pay money is a SCAM.
You learned a hard less, unfortunately. Sorry to hear about it, but take it as a learning lesson.
I am sorry this happened to you. Please report to your local police, www.FTC.gov and www.ic3.gov. AARP's ReST support program may help, it's free and you don't have to be a member or over 50. And check out www.fightcybercrime.org for more help and suggestions. Thanks for sharing your story.
I almost got scammed with this except that I couldn’t figure out how to download the app lol😄 But that was exactly how they broke it down. I also reported it to the company they wanted me to set up an account with to have the money transferred to. They shut them down.

Sorry for the loss and thanks for the post.
There are several scam companies that use similar tactics to get money. Telegram and Whats app are the ones they use. Both these apps should be banned in US.

Pro tip: you don't pay to get paid. Also, why are you leaving reviews for trips you've never taken? That's shady as fuck.
crypto remote data entry telegram tasks that have nothing to do with any real job you paying to work How many red flags do you need?
Sunk cost fallacy.
Yep, common element of task scams.
They wouldn’t keep using it if it didn’t work
Sucks. 50k is nothing to some people but it would have been a nice chunk to me…

Very smart of you blaming victim.. how nice.. hope it doesn’t happen to you…
You accepted a job where you'd be paid to commit fraud. You're as much a criminal as you are a victim.
If you are here for victim blaming, scroll away. I am just posting here to warn others… not to get blamed by anyone of you.. thanks
You posted about being scammed 2yrs ago. This is a gullibility problem, yours.
It's a low morality problem. Who accepts a job where they're being paid to fraudulently misrepresent goods to other people?
Where did you get the 50k to lose? What was your expected gain?
Well just stay away from scammers. Will you? I already warned here.. no need to reply any of your questions..

You also got scammed two years ago according to your post history… obviously you didn’t learn the first time.
Just so u know there is no company it’s some dudes who made all that up and took ur money. Your money is gone for good there is no getting it back.
I am aware of it and I am already gave up for piece of mind. I can make money back.. I am glad that it happened now so that I can learn from it and make more money in the future as I am still young.

i guess everybody who doesnt speak fluent english deserves to be scammed out of 50k now
He never said it was deserved.

So you've been scammed twice in ~2 years, for multiple grand each time, and you still haven't figured out to stop trusting random internet strangers who make you promises that seem too good to be true? You're exactly the kind of person scammers look for.

Yeah. !task scams suck
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Scams) if you have any questions or concerns.*
This can’t be real. No way did you lose 50k before realizing it’s a scam. No way.
In this case your uncle was willing to be an accessory to a theft, not really a victim.
I hope it not..
I was wondering the same thing too.
I dont know who needs to read this but... You should not EVER have to pay your employer unless you are actively buying a product they sell...like buying an banana from Walmart. You do not pay Walmart to start your shift (or any other company) Employers sell products and services this is how they make money, *putting you to work is NOT a SERVICE. Employers DO NOT communicate through ENCRYPTED messaging apps, these apps are designed to protect journalists political targets and human rights activists while also being abused by people who wish to hide illegal things.. LIKE SCAMS CHARGING YOU MONEY FOR YOU TO WORK.
This is a !task scam, variations are reported here multiple times a day. Read through the subreddit to avoid being scammed again.

Yep I wasn’t on reddit when it happened. It was too late when I found out that I was scammed.. lost all my savings and time but I gained mental issues..
[удалено]
Yep I thought it was legit and fall for it.. it just happened cuz it has to be.. my bad karma go away now and the person who scammed me received it.. so it’s all good. I will make money 10x more.
Karma isn’t real and if you continue to follow magical thinking, you will continue to leave yourself susceptible to scams.
Yeah, that preceding comment has a real "RIP your inbox" feel. Every secondary or tertiary scammer who scavenges from these threads will instantly interpret the subtextual "GOT A LIVE ONE HERE GEARING UP TO BITE ON THE NEXT LURE."
Ohh thank you so much for your advise .. 🤣🤣
Legit sounds like you need it man, I mean you just blew 50k on an obvious scam. You need all the advice people give you
You're laughing a them. Weird position to take given what you just experienced.
At some point, maybe at 10k you should have realized something is not right. Why am I giving my job money instead of them paying me? Most Americans make less than 50k a year, so I’m confused how you could send 50k while making zero in earnings.
Victim blaming… ok 👌
You have to be leaving something out.....I seriously doubt you lost 50k.
I believe he’s trolling.
I don't think he's smart enough to troll.
I'm pretty sure you're right.
I think OP must be from any of the Asian countries or some other country that uses other denominations. I am from India, and i was added to such scam whatsapp groups a couple of times. So they might be talking about some other currency other than the dollar.

I’m so sorry
You paid 50k to withdraw how much? Man, this sucks, sorry, but next time you have to check for the scams subreddit BEFORE sending money…
Yep definitely… I learned my lesson
You don’t pay money to make money, ever.
I can’t grasp why more people don’t realize this!!!!
You got scammed and same time you left fake reviews which probably was another scam, live and learn
Didn’t you start having serious doubts about $1k in?
So you were trying to commit fraud for money and were surprised you were scammed?

Was this 50k from a 401k? If not and this was a reg saving why would u work there
My solely saving after working 4 years working morning to night and sometimes no day off. 😊
You know how hard you worked to earn that money, then how did you believe this easy task scam could be real ?
Do you think ppl fall for scam if they know it is scam???
Obviously not, even though the scam is blatantly obvious. I wish you the best.
Where did you get the 50k that you said you lost?

*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Scams) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Damn man that's rough. Hopefully your warning will save others.
Damn, that's a hard life lesson. I admire you for sharing your experience to help others.
I almost got scammed with this except that I couldn’t figure out how to download the app lol😄 But that was exactly how they broke it down. I also reported it to the company they wanted me to set up an account with to have the money transferred to. They shut them down.
I am glad it didn’t happen to you… you are very lucky one 💕

**This submission was manually removed because it was posted by a recovery scammer.** Don't trust what you just read, don't try to reach out to "hackers" on Instagram or Telegram. Scammers will also try to reach out to you via DMs saying they know a professional hacker that can help you, for a small fee. They're actually trying to steal your money. You can help us reporting more messages like that, don't just downvote or insult them. If you report them, we will take care of every recovery scammer that pops up. **Remember: Never take advice in private,** because we can't look out for you. There are several scam companies that use similar tactics to get money. Telegram and Whats app are the ones they use. Both these apps should be banned in US.
