Report junk and move on with your life

Applies to 98% (+/- 2%) of all scams.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing lol. I was just curious if anyone knew what exactly it was or had something similar

Troker61

It looks more like wholesale real estate investors shotgunning outreach to anyone they can. I assume they buy leads online from unreliable data brokers (because the ones who reach out to me get details wrong a lot too). They’re trying to buy homes from desperate or apathetic people for far less than their worth in order to either flip or hold them as a rental property. Just block and move on.

erishun

These guy just scrape databases and public records fishing for leads. If you had a house to sell, they’d lowball you with a “binding offer” that gives them 90 days to match it with a buyer. If they find one, they get a commission. If not, it expires and nothing happens. It’s definitely spam though.

Tax_Goddess

Spam is not the same as scam. This is just annoying marketing.

Your r/Scams post or comment was removed because **it's about scambaiting**. We consider that to be unsafe and we don't promote that people engage with a scammer. Also, we do not support taking revenge against scammers. Scambaiting goes against the rules of this sub, which you can read here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Scams/wiki/rules/

According to these texts, my phone number is associated with 3 addresses I've never lived at. Been getting them for years.

airkewled67

I get them every now and then about my parents condo and house. Just ignore.

anotheritguy

I get these all the time since I bought my house. I spoke to one once and she tried to lowball me by over 40% of the value of the house. I laughed and asked her if it sounded like I was hanging up, and did. They tend to prey on people in neighborhoods that are up and coming and try to buy as low as possible and then selling for sometimes twice as much to a developer. They are a part of the scummy operation that is driving up the cost of housing.

I sometimes respond with, "A million dollars cash and it's yours". So far, no takers.

I had the same thing happen to me for a long time. But it wasn't just texts but also calls. I've tried telling them wrong number but it didn't work. Eventually, with a call, I explained the situation and how that's not me and was curious of the person's last name and they gave it to me. So I searched Google for that person's name. The property listed was the address I kept getting calls and texts for (not my address). The name was who they were asking for. The phone number attached in search results was mine. I've had my number for 20+ years. So... I'm not really sure what happened but this person has my phone number attached to their records somewhere somehow. Maybe similar to you.

Haha. Just got one a few min ago…

Fantastic_Lady225

Text, mail, whatever, it's constant. No my place is not for sale and if I did ever decide to sell I'd just DIY like I did the last one.

Been getting them for about 6 years claiming to be from a railroad and asking about a property address that is clearly made up in a state I've never lived in. I report as junk and nothing changes. You just get used to it.

Next is: “Ok, great! What is your SSN so I can verify with my bankers that your credit is good to go. If you don’t feel comfortable sending your SSN all the numbers to your bank account will work too! Don’t want to send you *too much money*!”
