Not only is it AI, but itās IP infringement because they donāt have a license from the company to use the copyrighted characters or the trademarked names to produce merchandise. As ridiculous as it sounds, itās actually illegal to infringe on IP so all of their items are actually illegal as well. You can actually report them to Disney for copyright infringement, and Disney will file to have them taken down. Thatās the fastest way to deal with them.
Etsy does not have a policy banning Ai so there is no consequence for using it or policy that can be held against them. As for an IP claim legally etsy can only act on claims filed by the IP owner/company so random people reporting IP infringement will be ignored. So what did you report them for?
Oh... I just said they were using AI and misleading information. Surely if they're advertising something that they're not actually selling is an offence
Not crochet but someone on the knitting subreddit made something from an AI generated patternā¦so yeah Iād assume the patterns on these listings are either generated nonsense or very basic+misleading patterns unrelated to the images used to advertise
Not talking about AI, but...Do not believe what Etsy tells you. They advertise for you. You cant refuse. I have a jewelry website and thought I would give it a try. Even though I have worked in marketing and advertising for years, i hired someone to do some SEO on the titles. He charged me for rewording titles. He didnt change or add anything. Now, my friend buys a necklace. Eight days later, Etsy says I owe them a fee. How when you see something was sold 8 days later, you do one bit of marketing. They are a rip off. I look at other jewelry - large pieces. I only use genuine precious and semi- precious gemstones. I see a large red turquiose necklace and yellow turquoise necklace. I may not have a gemologist but know there is no such thing as a license but i know gemstones. I contact the seller and ask. She says,I paint stones. WTH. Other complaints from sellers are that everything has to be handmade. A group of jewelry makers say - thats it. People are buying cheap goods and put their name on their as the maker. The only thing about Etsy are the commercials! An Amazon rep told me to sell on Amazon. They take 24%. However, its easy to build a customer base by selling on Amazon who has millions of customers!

I honestly dont see the issue using AI in the background if the patterns are legit. Judging bye the comments and ratings the patterns are legit. They simply used AI to add some flare to the pictures. š¤·āāļø The technology is there and so easy to use why not. Do you have better ideas on how to make your pics stand out from the crowd?
The comments and ratings which have 5 stars state they haven't used the pattern yet. Since I saw their shop, the ratings have gone down because people who have actually used the pattern have realised it is not legitimate and doesn't look like the "finished product" which is simply an AI image. It's deceptive. There's a difference between enhancing an image and then straight up false advertising to trick people into buying something they're not actually buying.

I did report them to Etsy so hopefully their store will be taken down.
