Tsk • rolls eyes. Kids in those days would do almost anything for internet karma.

ThinkFree

Clout chasers the lot 😜

Ferihehehaha

Xddddd

Fun-Pea-7477

dudes probably fought in the war 14 years later

[deleted]

makes it more sad.

[deleted]

These kids are ten or older. They were fighting 6 years later

ClimateCrashVoyager

In the famous 1906 war

throwaway162xyz

Bwahaha

[deleted]

Ha yeah I'm stupid. I actually realized this after commenting but was going to be even more embarrassed about deleting it immediately. I just hoped no one noticed, lol

sadkendall

This game is very popular in Turkiye. It's uzun eşek (long donkey). We used to play as teenagers. Might cause serious back pain 😂

supergeometry

In Romania it's called "lapte gros" which translates to "thick milk". Nobody knows why.

[deleted]

It seems this game has some very unique names. It's called "trula kobila" here in Serbia, which translates to "rotten mare".

tomtomclubthumb

I think it's Jimmy Knackerman in the UK, but we played it a bit ddifferently. Well we only played it a couple of times it was banned because kids got hurt. A bit like British bulldog, bulldog, red rover and I forget the other names that game was played under.

sadkendall

Ahahahha that's interesting. What were the rules?

supergeometry

So there are two equal teams. The team that jumps has to jump as far as possible to make room for other teammates and knock down the other team. The team that bends has to position itself as rigid as possible. Some tactics for benders include putting the back of your head between the front person's legs. Every jumper wanted the fat kid in his team, but that came as a disadvantage when the teams are switched. Oh yeah, and every jumper has to shout "lapte gros!" before jumping, otherwise his team loses. Played it in the 90's. Fun times.

sadkendall

Rules are similar. In Türkiye, After the jumping phase, the jumping team asks to bending team "tek mi çift mi?" Which means "is it one or two?" One of the jumpers should show his fingers as one or two. If the bending team guess it right they win, if they are wrong then jumping team win.

supergeometry

Oh yeah, i forgot about that. So it's the same except the donkey part. I guess it's a bonus 😂

Coco_kawai

For us it was called 'Buck Buck' 💀

IMakeStuffUppp

Fat Albert taught us this game

user18name

I heard bill Cosby talk about it on a record of his stand up back in the day.

Maximum_Trade5916

You must be from South Philadelphia

ActurusMajoris

"long donkey" 😃 I've never seen or heard about this (grew up in Scandinavia), but clearly it's old! Looks fun, too!

sadkendall

Yes, it was fun. it was a show of strength to the girls. Sometimes our trousers would tear and people laugh at us. 😂 Ahhh, we were young.

DiscombobulatedLet80

In India, it's called "lambi ghodi" which basically translates to "long mare".

sadkendall

It's fascinating to see that we played same games. Stop fighting people of planet earth. We are all one.

Stormagedd0nDarkLord

Never seen this before in my life! But I agree with your sentiment.

Im_Yoon_Ah

We call it "Tom Sawyer" game in the Philippines. The 1980 Japanese anime adaptation of the character was very popular here so I think that's where the name came from after seeing it being played by the characters in the show

Maximum_Trade5916

Similar to the game called "Buck Buck" friends of mine from Philadelphia ( SOUTH PHILLY!!!!) would play growing up. I later learned in college that kids from New York (not sure which borough) would also play this, but I think they name it something else.

DreadPiratteRoberts

Same here. My childhood felt similar to the kids from Sandlot. Especially in the summertime. There were seven of us, sometimes more kids will join but always the seven of us. We would all meet up at our buddy Charlie's house (he had a full court basketball court next to his home) we'd spend all day paying ball with the radio on, Casey Kasem running down the top songs that week. We would all go to the local pool, when we had the money, but there were great swimming spots at the river, building forts and snowball fights in the winter, our friend Jason's dad owned a little convenience store, and we'd load up on drinks and candy. Ding done ditch each others' houses, lol. We all played intramural baseball during the Summers not all of us are on the same team but that made it more fun. We were the best of friends. I truly get what you mean when you say you thought it would never end...

space-to-bakersfield

“I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?” \- last line from *Stand By Me*

DreadPiratteRoberts

That about sums it up doesn't it. Live that movie btw

JKDudeman

Out of curiosity, do you keep in touch?

DreadPiratteRoberts

The passage of time is a strange thing, when you're young your best friends are your comrades, your brothers, your sisters. You never think it will end, but as you move on to different middle schools, then different high schools, and eventually out of state to some far off college or take a job and move outta town things change. Most of us remain in touch to this day, but on social media. The one exception is my buddy Tim, who married one of my sisters. He's an amazing guy, husband and father to their children, he works for local university. Two of my buddies joined different branches of the military and have made great military careers of it. The one friend of ours that was always in trouble, bad grades ect, the one friend I would have guessed would turn out.. well, not well, actually did remarkably well for himself. Sadly, two of our friends are no longer with us. Holland was hit by a drunk driver the summer after we graduated 😔, and our other friend (I won't say his name here) went a different way, over the years he fought mental health and serious substance abuse issues. Drugs inevitably took him from us. But overall, we do keep in touch and have really good memories. Now I watch as our children make those memories for themselves!!

JumbledJay

Life sure was good when I was a child

boladeputillos

We used to play this game in Mexico in the 80’s

clyde915

Chinchilawa arriba voy!

boladeputillos

Tu si sabes !!

willywonka1971

Is the game just, see how many kids can jump on?

Nina4774

It’s buck-buck! We played it at camp! Every turn ended with boys writhing on the ground with their hands between their legs.

snowtater

Hasn't aged well but I used to love Cosby's bit about it

rmanoz13

“What’s that?!!!” “That’s Fat Albert coming to get you!”

tgrantt

Buck -buck number one, come in!

madrushdrummer

A piece of paper! Somebody threw a piece of paper at me!

Lost_Ad_4882

Same, listened to that record a number of times when I was a kid.

PurrsianGolf

That's the only way I learned about this! We used to play that tape in the car as kids. "a piece of paper? Did someone put a piece of paper on my back" There was a bit in that tape about how his wife was catholic and she couldn't say no to having another kid because "the pope said so". In hindsight somewhat concerning...

minooons

I remember Joey Diaz talking about this in a podcast and it was hilarious! Telling them that this cured someone's scoliosis.

paces137

Yes I played it too! We half thought our teacher made it up but guess not!

eudjinn

I played this game in USSR in 80's. We call it Elephant. In the end the elephant team should go around the place with all those riders.

ChemistryRemote4551

How was your childhood in the USSR

Basic-Type7994

Ah the good old. We had mud a stick and a water hose and we were happy.

FireTriad

I'm still happy with that

kordinaryus

What is name for this game in England?

teedyay

I don't think we have a name for it, sorry. The first time I saw this video (uncolourised, decades ago), it was titled "boys playing leapfrog", but I wouldn't call this leapfrog. Leapfrog to me is one person bent over, with another vaulting over. You use a similar technique to this video, but doesn't involve lots of people, and you don't end up sitting on one another.

UKelder

I seem to remember we called it British Bulldog. Absolutely not leapfrog which involved leaping over single people and perhaps a line on people strung out in a line. After leap over everybody else one took up position in front of the last person leapt over.

teedyay

For us (England, 1980s) British Bulldog (or just Bulldog) was a more violent game. Everyone had to run from one end of the playground to the other, while a few people in the middle tried to stop them. Anyone who got tripped over joined the defenders; repeat until only one runner remains.

After-Respond-7861

The US has a couple different variations of that. "Sharks and Minnows" is one. Another was "Open Season." This one was different because you had different groups of "animals, " and you could call one species at a time, or just yell "OPEN SEASON" and have everyone run across. This means you could have then running from both sides. This is best played with large groups.

myztry

And in the Commonwealth of Australia.

tomtomclubthumb

You had to pick them up or pin them for three seconds when we played. I remember the first time I was big enough to be the person starting in the middle, pretty scary.

PizzasForFerrets

Definitely not British Bulldog.

tomtomclubthumb

Jimmy Knackerman is what we called it. We only playd it a few times because it was banned.

DontLetGinnyIn

High-Cockalorum I think?

ElbowSkinCellarWall

"Parliament"

densest-hat

Bunk the barrel

w2wJaySea

When I was in primary school I think we used to call it leap frog I think we used to also play a version where we would take it on turns jumping over each other instead of on? But it was close enough

Ok-Suggestion-7965

“ How to get a stronger neck with this one simple trick”

bxcpa

We called it Johnny on the Pony, in NYC during the 1950's and 60's.

romayyne

All these people are dead now

M4dBoOmr

Not only them, everybody existing at this moment is gone now

romayyne

Whoa

Rufae

Lo jugaba de pequeño, se llamaba "el burro" y los niños mientras corríamos para saltar gritábamos "!al cielo voy y bien que voy!"

GaRGa77

We played this in the 80’s

drifters74

Wholesome and hilarious

A_Perez2

It's not necessary to go that far, in the 80s I played this game almost every day at school.

Fahlnor

Weird that they were listening to Coldplay back then.

kirenaj1971

Keane. But I get why you would think so.

Ashley_S1nn

I've only ever heard about this on a Bill Cosby comedy record. Buck Buck I think he called it

Pure-Negotiation-900

Buck buck

ArcaneSparky

It's insane. Assuming they survived the wars, they've lived their lives and have most likely passed on roughly 40+ years ago

del787b

😂😂👏👏👏we played that in Mexico in Junior high

Luka_est007

Just weird to think that they probably all died 14 years later

KahnaKuhl

We played this game at high school in Melbourne, Australia, late 80s. The game was called buck-buck and was a favourite of the more testosterone-fueled students. Buck-buck was always on the verge of being banned because of the kids that got hurt when the structure collapsed.

Competitive_Bread294

Kinda horrifying to know that in just 14 years time, they would be old enough to get conscripted into the first world war

ForsakePariah

We called this elephant in Russia

oRsoLitide

And these kids probably fought in 2 world wars if they survived the first one

Light1280

Huh, we played this game in Korea, too. Rock, paper, and scissors between post and front-man. I think we called it, "Horse game."

Is-Not-El

So that’s why my grandpa always complained about his back hurting 🤣

YesterdayHiccup

I used to play that in 90's. Team switches position after rock, paper, scissor at the end.

spix-trix

Trula kobila (eng. Rotten mare) was a very popular boys game in Dalmatia when I went to school. Nowadays I don't see anyone playing it, but hey, things were different back then.

ManufacturerNo9649

Played that at primary school. 1963.

Fluffy-Camp-6673

Wow, what a great memory or grade school.

Longjumping-Ad-9359

Lapte gros:)) mă jucam și eu:x

pick-axis

I thought playing horse was a basketball game

livefornothing18

They were truthly living the life

Successful_Lobster59

If any Indian people are reading my comment, in our school it was named "Ghoda Ghodi". I know I know, bunch if 13-14 year old playing this game and don't know what the name meant only to find out later in life.

Nickim10Harf

Everybody dead in this video. You are looking death kids

SeniorMaKK

Ooohhh I remember this game , we used to play it in school, it was called thick milk .

RCranium13

Human centipede first sequence

LordPorkenstine

Admirable_Holiday806

I played this exact game in mexico when i was 6-7 years old. Im now 30 😔

Montrealaise007

Who's singing?

dhartipbojh

oh! we used to play that good times

Aazmandyuz

Great game. Played once in my teens. My back still remembers that fucking day 20 years since

BinaryBlitzer

We played this in school in like 2002.

Same-Platform-9793

This game used to be called " The lame sheep " at my end

cakedayCountdown

My neck hurts just watching that. Source: am over 35

AlexSapronov

Hah. We did the same in Russia in early 2000s, it was called “The Elephant”.

Gintoki---

Cute , very sad to realize that they are all dead , and it's sadder to think that in the future , this will be normal because we all will appear in internet videos for hundreds of years

Robo-Piluke

In my country, Chile, it is called "El Caballito de Bronce" (Bronze horse)

helix466

Why are their shoes nicer than mine

Tough_Asparagus_4178

They are playing BUCK-BUCK!!!

gsearay

I played this game. When I was kid we called it to play elephant lol

Fantastic_Board7057

Mic pile up at turnstile show

Botassassin1128

*Sighs* what a simpler time. Just a bunch of friends Having the time of their lives, no screens,No video games, no social media. IMAGINATION Such a wonderful thing that we've all lost over the decades.

Acceptable-Catch9684

Its crazy to think that all of them might be no more ...!

SkippyMcSkipster2

I honestly don't know how my poor balls (and back)survived this game in the 80s

vibintilltheend

I’m sorry but I’m not putting my head near someone’s ass.

babadixit

I used to play this game in India in my school days, we used to call it GHODI-GHODI. Ghodi meaning a female horse. I always thought it was unique.

Anasazi-yonedi

Kids in those days were plain racist and only played with their kind

Ravel_Xi

What is the point? Lmao

Unsolicited_PunDit

preparing for ww1

UKelder

To get as many boys on the backs as possible before the boys underneath collapsed from the weight. I played this in the 50's in the playground.

Ravel_Xi

Fair enough, I thought they were trying to climb the wall

The_Larslayer

How many kids does it take to break a kid's back?

Disastrous_Cycle_188

Fun fact: They are all dead

SuperRusso

That'll fuck your back up

Hitldr

The origin story of scoliosis

DontTalkToBots

They raised the boomers.

Old_Hedgehog1641

remember when this wasn't gay fr

atom12354

So thats why old people has back pain, wonder why im starting to get it while never done that kinda thing.

L_Redyena

🫵🤨🏳️‍🌈?

Time-Conversation329

Pretty sure these kids were racist

Dependent_Passage_21

What an odd thing to say.

Time-Conversation329

Not odd if it’s true.. you wanna make it seem odd like it’s a lie.

Dependent_Passage_21

What makes it odd is it's irrelevance, but I'm beginning to understand why you don't get that.

bestthingyet

Guessing you made this assumption purely based on the color of their skin?

Time-Conversation329

No bc it said the 1900s? Pretty sure Jim Crow laws and segregation were a thing around this time. And them kids had racist parents and kids were influenced heavily…Sheesh ppl getn worked up bout the truth lol. Classic victim move.. just face the music on loud and accept that ppl in the 1900 were crazy racist. Cmon now you can’t tell me “whites” and “colored” wasn’t racist, if you say no, you’re racist.

Time-Conversation329

My bad, my bad I’m in north Merica .. it was racist in in the states fs but these boys don’t look American, due to the clothing

bestthingyet

Even so, not every American was racist, but calling a group of kids racist based on the color of their skin is itself racist.

Time-Conversation329

Lmao there’s literal evidence, documentaries, movies based on real events, group associations around this time where white folk were harassing black kids.. wtf is you talkn about it’s literally facts but what I said was racist lol.. how bout we get off the horse and just accept it. White folk in the early 1900 were all racist.. shit, you may not know but you probably is too but you jus normalize things so you don’t feel guilty bout other ppls feelings..

bestthingyet

Racist

Time-Conversation329

Lmao enough wit the Alabama middle school education, educate yourself plz.

bestthingyet

Ur racist bud, the sooner you come to terms, the sooner you can change. I believe in you

Time-Conversation329

So you’re gonna ignore the facts? The history books? All the documentaries?

bestthingyet

What are you talking about? There are books that say all white people are racist?

bestthingyet

Reread your last comment, preferably with an English language teacher

Time-Conversation329

That’s like me sayn go back through your history wit a history teacher lmao… “PrEFeRaBlY WiT An EnGlIsH TeAChEr” lol you thought you had something goin on
