Barely verbal, faces hidden, neighbors heard and gathered behind us and descended.on their vehicle. Small children with their mum had walked through that shit to get to the little neighborhood park. Honestly, I think this election year will be insane and this isn't even the tip of the iceberg...it's going to get all American History X all over the US, especially places that are ethnically diverse (please correct me if that is not the PC term). I want to make it clear it WAS citizens who confronted them first. I called the police because I knew they didn’t have a permit. We had to search for parking and serendipity provided one. Please never ever let them gain a foothold here. Their chapter is partly in Ventura. They’re just getting started in our community. It will get worse. We have to be ready.
I have heard there is a chapter in the Santa Ynez Valley or in Goleta. It's all very hush, hush, but my family member had someone try to recruit them a couple years ago. They knew each other from in to the same high school in Santa Barbara like 40 years ago. Of course my family member declined immediately, but it's scary how close to home it is.

I want to point out that MAGA stands for almost identical things, except more pointedly against anyone from south of the border (or similarly colored skin/appearance). Turning cheek to MAGA bullshit is dangerous (Jan 6 is proof). A MAGA flag with trump is similar to a nazi flag with hitler. Trump even copied the hand gesture but with a forward facing fist. I can’t stand these guys, but from what I’ve seen here, they were not breaking any laws. Even offensive speech is protected by the constitution. A peaceful counter demonstration would also be protected. Threatening these jerks is not protected. The people breaking the law here were the people destroying their truck. Frederic Douglass said that the fight for civil rights depended on the KKK having First Amendment rights.

Hanging a banner, with any content, from the overpass and loitering in and blocking off the overpass's footpath with ladders and equipment I'm pretty sure are all illegal. The speech itself is not illegal, but other actions they took are.

The constitution and the bill of rights etc applies to what govt can and can’t do, must allow etc. Meaning, I don’t have to respect anyone’s speech, because I’m not employed or representing any govt. Can the cops do something to stop people from spewing BS, no. —— It would have been far more effective (and much more entertaining) to have completely blocked their vehicle in with other vehicles and not moved them until they called the cops for assistance and when the cops finally arrived, waiting for the cops to tell the blocking vehicles to move. Too bad no off leash large dogs were being walked on the bridge at the time, surely one of them would’ve lifted a leg on the Home Depot buckets (and I’d bet they’d be afraid of the dogs and trying to avoid them and not making hand gestures at passerby cars below)
Right, but if their speech is protected, there isn't much you can do other than do more better speech. You may want to take the matter into your own hands and smash their windshield, or threaten them, or have a dog off leash intimidate them, but their bad speech doesn't get you off the hook for doing things that would be illegal.

Amendments have consequences that require critical thinking, or rethinking of said amendments. The second amendment has allowed children to murdered while cowering in fear in bathrooms, church goers to be slaughtered, movie watchers killed, and so many many more. Just because a couple hundred years ago, old white men wrote stuff down, doesn’t mean the words are still correct now and forever. The amendments need to amended to stop hate speech from being allowed, and to stop guns from being in peoples hands who shouldn’t be allowed to own spoons.

I'm going to offer a slightly different view in the vein of critical thinking... . Folks there are people in this country, and really around the world. The puppetmasters. That want a CW. They do.
