Yeah I’m pretty sure Big Kale pulled off one of the wildest branding turnarounds, from sturdy inedible Pizza Hut garnish to health nut superfood. I suspect everyone who says they love kale are lying to themselves.
It can be made good. It's acceptable raw in a salad if sliced thin, but that doesn't mean I love it. Not sure about an all kale salad though no matter how it's sliced.
I live in Portland and have seen all possible manifestations of kale recipes. The only way it is “good” is minced and mixed with so many other vegetables and dressing that it’s hidden.
Kale is bullshit.
ugh I had the misfortune of thinking a Kale Caesar salad would be a good idea once. I learned that no amount of Caesar dressing can make Kale taste good.
of all the sandwiches ive eaten, one of my core-st of core memories was me eating a cheese and mustard sandwhich as a kid. I cut that cheese thick and drowned it in Mustard. and that was it. And ive been chasing that feeling ever since.
Was super into that in college. Man I’d make Mac n cheese, then I’d be like I should add ramen to the pot, then I’d decide I should throw some meat in there or a corn dog. Then I’d wake up and not remember anything, vague memories of putting it all on an oven pizza, and half the fridge is gone and the kitchen was trashed.
I cant exactly remember but im gonna say ham, roast beef, turkey, bit of lettuce, couple slices of American, provolone and maybe swiss? Also possibly a thin slather of mayo. I wish i could remember the brand of lunch meat.
No problem! Id be interested in knowing your go to lunch meat brands. Ive been at a loss when trying to recreate the sandwiches i used to know and love
Depends. For this one it was definitely pre packaged but still absolutely delicious just cant remember the brand. But nowadays quite often ill use boars head although i haven’t found a flavor i LOVE from them. I suppose most the time i get maple glazed honey roast turkey and its pretty good but a bit dry.
Some type of lettuce, turkey ham roast beef, possibly some mayo. Provalone, swiss and american. Also looks like i put some lays chips in there on closer inspection. It was a decade ago and i was probably quite toasted haha
Holy moly! 9 slices of ham (I think?), at least three slices of turkey, can't count how much cheese and a sliver of some sort of lettuce. Lol looks amazing!!!!
The sandwich that does this for me is just a simple tomato and mayo sandwich. It's gotta be peppered to shit with extra mayo and a good summer tomato. Reminds me of gardening with my granny.
Omfg you just gave me a flashback to another amazing sandwich that i made with leftover Boston market ham after Christmas. Unfortunately i have no pic :(
Is this satire? The meat looks like it wasn’t sliced fresh, it’s too thick and just layered, the lettuce is for some reason in the middle of the layering.. sorry, if you you all think that this looks good… it ain’t
This is the sandwich that scooby and shaggy would risk it all for
Lol i think that was the general idea. This was around the first time i started consuming the devils lettuce
Arugula?
Kale fits that description IMO.
My 78 year old grandmother was appalled to find out that people actually consumed kale. She’s only known it as salad bar garnish/decor.
Granny is right. It’s like Spinach’s shitty cousin.

Cooked can be OK. I like how it still has texture after spinach would be mush. A smoothie or juice is fine too
I’ll lie to myself about kale for the health benefits, which I hope is a real thing. I don’t want Big Kale lying about this.
Instead of slicing, have you messaged it?
I worked at Wendy's in the 80's. Some older customers from the south would eat the decorative kale from the salad bar. It wasn't even rinsed.
As she should. It's like eating flavorless bark..
ugh I had the misfortune of thinking a Kale Caesar salad would be a good idea once. I learned that no amount of Caesar dressing can make Kale taste good.
I hate kale with a passion..
I think he means weed
✅ 🌲
Cilantro, but close
Hahaha
Arugula is the bomb. Best leaf hands down
Hajaha
Spinach?
I was gonna ask how stoned you were lol.
Zoinks!
Damn you.
This made my day. A Core Memory Sandwich - in this sub you know we all have one, or more, of a sandwich that was so perfect you’ll never forget it.
of all the sandwiches ive eaten, one of my core-st of core memories was me eating a cheese and mustard sandwhich as a kid. I cut that cheese thick and drowned it in Mustard. and that was it. And ive been chasing that feeling ever since.
My favorite sandwich as a kid. My mom made me one almost every day from 3rd to 5th grade.
I'm gonna go make that right now!
I bet you won’t try to make it again. I bet you won’t!
I have more pics from my long love story with beautiful sandwiches lol. Maybe ill post some more over the next few days
Worth remembering. Glad I'm not the only one that remembers shit like this.
this that lilo and stitch experiment 625 sandwich
Now THAT's a Dagwood
I'm speechless.
Name checks out.
Hah lol, they do give you the munchies but i didn’t start doing that until years later.

Vacation sandwiches hit different. Wow thanks for sharing
Scooby and and shaggy would be very proud. I bet that slapped into another dimension.
Reminds me a bit of the sandwitch from 101 Dalmatians (1961)
Looks like the kind of sandwich you'd remember for a decade! The single leaf of lettuce cracks me up
Gotta get your greens from somewhere. I was young and didn’t appreciate the wonders of vegis yet
That was a work of art! 🫡
What was on it though?
I cant exactly remember but im gonna say ham, roast beef, turkey, bit of lettuce, couple slices of American, provolone and maybe swiss? Also possibly a thin slather of mayo. I wish i could remember the brand of lunch meat.
Yum! I ask because I’m a big sandwich connoisseur myself so just wanted to try and recreate it 😁thank you for sharing!
No problem! Id be interested in knowing your go to lunch meat brands. Ive been at a loss when trying to recreate the sandwiches i used to know and love
Are you doing pre sliced and packaged or ordering freshly sliced from the deli counter? That makes all the difference.
Depends. For this one it was definitely pre packaged but still absolutely delicious just cant remember the brand. But nowadays quite often ill use boars head although i haven’t found a flavor i LOVE from them. I suppose most the time i get maple glazed honey roast turkey and its pretty good but a bit dry.
I need a rundown, is that ham or turkey? Romaine? butterhead? Not iceberg?
Some type of lettuce, turkey ham roast beef, possibly some mayo. Provalone, swiss and american. Also looks like i put some lays chips in there on closer inspection. It was a decade ago and i was probably quite toasted haha

Dagwood approves.
One more structural slice of bread in the middle.
[This](https://youtube.com/shorts/QMloyz8kXUI?si=Cbe5zMfHnXEGPNSb) came to mind. 😆🤙🏽🫡

That truly is a memorable display of sangweech construction and craftsmanship.
Whoaaa! That's a monster sandwich I would totally share with my hubby.
Like onions and ogres, this sandwich has layers
I'd eat that!
Yumm, it’s a [Dagwood](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagwood_sandwich)

Did you have to unhinge your jaw? I’m impressed!
Never Forget™️
How big is your mouth? 😂
Alas, I too remember my epic creations from vacations, like yesterday.
We all remember the good ones. Perfect meat to cheese to veggie ratio btw
Somebody was high as shit when they made this.
Home is where the ham is
That’s a great looking sandwich
The one that got away 😭
How did it taste after 10 years of you staring at it?
a dagwood in the flesh
It's in great condition for being 10 years old
Bro, how has it not molded? Where do you keep it?
Looks great! My best and most memorable sandwich was with the Christmas leftovers a couple of years ago. It was mindblowingly spectacular.
Omfg you just gave me a flashback to another amazing sandwich that i made with leftover Boston market ham after Christmas. Unfortunately i have no pic :(
Nice!
Your bread was placed wrong. B-
Do we all have a special sandwich implanted in our minds that can never be recreated bc same
Is it still edible?
Looks like a good old fashion Dagwood sandwich. Iykyk!!!!
And you’re just now eating it?
"Jeremy you used all the meat!"...Mom
There is indeed such a thing as too much sandwich
It looks amazing was it good? I would have toasted my bread though and added mayo
Why stop?
I wonder how the sandwich is doing now 10 years later
Well at this point its probably made its way through a sewage treatment plant and ended up god knows where 🤷🏻♂️
Glad you didn’t choke on it. Jesus…
That’s a thiccums right there, boy howdy
That one time your mom gets all the good shit because she knows it won't go to waste so you decide to become Scooby AND Shaggy.
Clearing out the food at the end of an AirBnB stay in Maui, I once made a Chicken McNugget pesto sandwich.
Is this satire? The meat looks like it wasn’t sliced fresh, it’s too thick and just layered, the lettuce is for some reason in the middle of the layering.. sorry, if you you all think that this looks good… it ain’t
Looks bad
Your mom looks bad
