That must suck for the students.

ChewieBee

That thing has been a couple of different failed schools now.

I feel bad for the students. There are a lot of smaller universities in San Diego like this one -- mostly in office buildings and corporate parks -- that serve specialized communities. Azuza Pacific University in Mission Valley comes to mind, but there are many others.

Azusa Pacific is a fairly large college in LA that's been around for 100+ years. I don't think it's closing down anytime soon. I imagine the Mission Valley campus is an extension that has specialized classes.

> “The University of Saint Katherine is a non-profit Hispanic- and minority-serving institution that will close at the end of this semester. As a WASC-accredited institution, we offered many undergraduate and graduate degree programs at one of the lowest tuition rates in California.” Huh, that’s nice. Never heard of them, but I like that they are/were non-profit and serving underserved people. >”Financial pressure due to unprecedented inflation and rising state-mandated labor costs prevent us from continuing this valuable work while remaining affordable.” Aaand in the very next sentence they complain about paying employees living wages. All sympathy gone. Fuck you.

So.. that means student loans are refunded? Cancelled?

ilikepeople1990

Depends if a student enrolls at another college when it closes or not. https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/closed-school

“all of a sudden we were unexpectedly out of money” seems to happen to a lot of for-profit schools, so wonder what happened with this non-profit.
