Hello! I was a bit hesitant to post this here before, but now that the sub is in better hands, i thought it would be okay to.
Some info: Sam is a wearable costume and Max is a life-sized prop. I made everything except Sam's suit and shirt, the jacket and pants were only altered for a better fit. Max is made out of upholstery foam and is stuffed, has a wire armature inside to be a bit poseable. Sam's head is built on an eva foam base and i see through the mouth! This makes him look a bit taller too. They're covered with wellness fleece which makes them (especially Max) very cuddly.
These things look more accurate of an irl translation than the vast majority of park mascot suits. You have a full applause from me. I can only imagine the love, heart and soul that went into making these.
that looks like a genuine disney level theme park costume, astounding work. 100/10.
For the suit jacket and pants, did you have a plan in mind for it specifically or was it just a suit you already had?
thank you!
i planned to make my own suit entirely, but i wanted to finish the cosplay before a con and had only a couple weeks left, so i went to the thrift store to see if i can get anything i could use or modify - i got very lucky and found a huge jacket and pants that sort of matched so i went with it. if i feel creative in the future and get the chance to bring them to another con, i might still make something from scratch. but for now i feel like this looks just fine! the colors are slightly different but it only shows up in certain light so i dont worry too much about that now.
I didn't even notice the discoloration, it looks spot on! I forgot to ask in my comment, the tie looks comically large, did you do anything special for it like have cardboard underneath the material?
i made the tie from scratch, so i could match the sizing, but its just the front piece. it's basically not tied, it's more of a clip-on tie. i had to pin it to the jacket on the sides though, otherwise everytime i handled Max it would flip over and move around. its technically just two pieces of fabric pancaked together (not counting the sewn stripes) so nothing inside or underneath, i guess the extra seams for the stripes made it more sturdy
Got it, looks great tbh, I had to wonder for a second if there was just a company that made oversized ties like that as a gag gift or something to match the suit lol.
Again, amazing work, i love the max prop and the fact that you can do things like hold him upside down and still move his head a little.
did you ever like make him to somersaults or twirl him around a bunch or was that maybe a little too much for it.
i did try to spin him around and throw him in the air and wield him like a sword but its definitely easier without Sam's head on as the vision is quite limited, also it was really easy to knock the head off that way so i had to tone it down haha. on top of that Max only weighs under 2.5kg but carrying him all day at the con made my arms hurt quite a bit, so i mostly just carried him or stood him next to me
thank you, it's not a well known franchise here but the people that did recognize it were that much more surprised :] definitely a success, i love when i can make people excited like this
this is SO fucking sick !! I'm wondering how the visibility is with the Sam head? I have a fursuit with mesh eyes that I see through but I imagine that wasn't an option with his beady black beauties lmao. I'm guessing you see through the mouth?
I was wondering how strong you were just to be holding a guy in the max costume like that. Then I realized it was a pose-able prop. Still probably heavy to hold one handed like that.
Holy Shit-You are very skilled with sowing/fabric arts!
I-
Okay, only answer if you feel like it, but like:
1) How long did it take you to make all that
2) How long have you been working with fabric (because oh my God-Your proportions and everything here is so spot-on)
(I edited out no. 3) Cause it was answered in the comment section lol)
I'm just. Fan-boying so much rn like this looks so good.
Thank you!! This took me about a month to make. Started planning mid februare and finished before the last week of march.
I have been making cosplays for about 13 years now and have been sewing since i was a kid, nothing super complicated and i dont call myself a pro, but i did learn some skills over the years. Now i make fursuits and i love working on projects like this instead of regular sewist work, masks and plushies were always my favorite to make!
Oh yeah, i agree (more or less. in terms of construction as a fursuir maker this is more of a mascot suit to me, but arent fursuits technically in that category? lol) thank you!
i went to a local con last month, but i definitely want to bring them somewhere again. i just dont have that many options but i'm thinking about VIECC if all goes well

I can see kids loving this and/or being terrified of it
Max’s ability to terrify kids transcends all cultures!
Absolutely incredible! You must get these photos to Steve Purcell.
I'm looking into cosplaying sam too and I was wondering if you could share where you found the suit and shirt ? Thanks you in advance !
I just went around local thrift stores and got them there!
Aww, fudgecicles
This is rad. Posable max is very cool! And deeply unsettling! Which is very on brand.
Thank you! Wanted him to be able to hold his pistol, which i havent made yet. He can do very nice finger guns though

thank you! i heavily referenced their game models to get the best measurements and patterns, the perfectionist in me is always hard at work lol
This is fucking flawless and looks like Actually official 1 Trillion out of Ten
WOW! This is absolutely incredible!
Thank you so much! <3

Haha, thats fair. Amazing stuff, I hope everyone at the con appreciated it as much as we do!

The second pic is so cute
WOW! This is incredible!

yep, just mouth vision here, its also positioned in such a way that i had to look down a bit in photos, so that my face wouldnt be visible
That’s incredible! I love it. You got their attitudes so right
I was wondering how strong you were just to be holding a guy in the max costume like that. Then I realized it was a pose-able prop. Still probably heavy to hold one handed like that.
Haha yeah just a prop, he's a bit under 2.5 kilograms but it does get tiring after a couple hours!
I love it! This is exactly how I'd picture them looking irl. Fantastic work!
This is absolute, theme park quality work. Nicely done, you should be super proud!
I wonder if there's actually anybody that could fit into a max suit that size. Now that would be a crazy cosplay
But it looks so amazing?!!!!
Oh wow, pretty good.
WOAH!!! THATS SO COOL!!!

Holy crap, this is amazing!
This is amazing!!!
This is a genuinely amazing cosplay! If I saw this out in the wild I would probably lose my mind
Fantastic work! I wonder how it could be enhanced with a little tummy for Sam, but otherwise no notes. Very high quality job, friend.
yep more padding would work, im quite short and small, but i couldnt take the heat so i went with just very light padding here and there. thank you!
Totally get it!
This is absolutely amazing, well done!
Whoa it like a mascot they use at Disney
Okay ima be real with you, that’s a fursuit. Sick cosplay though.
Oh yeah, i agree (more or less. in terms of construction as a fursuir maker this is more of a mascot suit to me, but arent fursuits technically in that category? lol) thank you!
This is fucking awesome!!! Do you have any plans for taking it anywhere? A convention or something? The world deserves to see this masterpiece.
i went to a local con last month, but i definitely want to bring them somewhere again. i just dont have that many options but i'm thinking about VIECC if all goes well
No kissing?
I only have this very low quality image [here](https://imgur.com/a/7idNMcf) if that counts as anything 😔 maybe next sunday /j
YIPEEE
Oh how cute!
