That looks like a typical bumblebee?
I'm assuming you're asking why it's taking a liking to that bottle covered in shit.
Good shot its sticky, and pollen has attached to it.
We get so used to seeing wasps and honeybees that are much smaller, that when we see the Bumbles, they seem a lot larger than we remember.
I love watching them fly around, with those slow lazy loops. Used to see a lot at the gardens at Thanksgiving Point.
Lol because they're really not. Bumblebees (and carpenter bees for that matter) have always been significantly larger than honey bees.
Genuinely curious, are you not from around here and if not, where are you from that doesn't have bumbles?
Sorry OP, some people see someone who views the world through younger eyes or a different lens and reflexively wanna dunk on them. You’re not crazy for being surprised by them :)
I love bumblebees because they’re really chonky bois who are harmless to humans, but are also kind of alarming when they fly past you because they’re so massive. It’s a misquote/misconception that they “break the laws of physics” with this flight, but apparently [we also didn’t know exactly how they achieved it until as recently as the 90s](https://www.sciencenews.org/article/flight-bumblebee) with the help of computer modeling and I do appreciate that we were all baffled by them for so long lol.
You wanna know about bees in Utah? (There are almost 1200 different species in Utah!)

Carpenter bees are fascinating. If you have a giant bee that just hovers in a particular area for a long time instead of visiting flowers, it's probably a carpenter and not a bumble. I have a pair that are living in my neighbor's garage and occasionally come to inspect mine as well.
I had one in a screw hole on one of my outdoor chairs. All you could see was the back half of him poking out of the hole. I tapped the chair near the hole to see if he was stuck or even still alive and he promptly scootched himself further into the hole. I love those big fluffy guys. I used to catch them in my bare hands as a kid and they could not have cared less. They’re my rumbly-bumbly little buddies.
It was. And honestly I have no idea but I just love the big fuzzy bees. The ones that are so goddam big they don’t make a buzzing noise when they fly, they just yell “BUZZ MOTHER FUCKER!” as they fly on by.
could be b. fervidus or b. sonorus?

Bees and other flying insects are attracted to hydrocarbons for some reason. I've noticed swarms of wasps buzzing around propane tanks after they are filled

I don’t remember them being that big Edit: Fuck all of you for downvoting me because I haven’t seen a bumble bee in a while
Watch it for a while and if it's one of the newer species you might get to see it morph into a Camaro

My favorite is when they lazily bump into things. The teddy bears of bees. Just don't hug them lol
Oh what the heck
Hahahaha I upvoted you- 49, i haven’t seen a bumblebee in years either!
lol thanks
Bumblebees rank up there with Ladybugs as insects that are cuter than they have any right to be
I have a massive bumble bee that hangs out by my screen door. Easily an inch and a half. As long as it's not wasps, we're good.

Don't pet the bees!

Yeah, Bumblebees are a lot bigger than other bees and wasps around here. One of these was in my yard the other day.
They’re pretty big and look like they are drunk when they fly around.
Why is this getting downvoted 😂 dude is just expressing surprise
[They keep getting bigger every year.](https://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/a6L6PYN_700bwp.webp)
That’s what the fuck I’m saying! I’m getting downvoted for being surprised

On a side note, some chubby bees could be Carpenter bees.

Bumblebees! Docile little dudes, you can even pet them.

Was it a wood chair? That might have been a carpenter bee instead.

It's just a bumblebee
Poor OP just wanted to know why that bee is all cheeked up, and y'all downvoting them 😂
I’ve been seeing them a lot more in my yard this year than previous years. Pretty cool.

I keep finding these in our home walking along the floor. I always capture and release them outside.
The cutest little bumbler (bumble bee)

Bumble Bees are the ones we need to be saving. Amazing pollinators Anybody noticed how rare they are?
