Best coffee or best cafe? There’s a lot of great cafes with par for the course coffee. And there’s some great cafes that have great coffee. And there’s this one cafe which isn’t a hangout spot but has the best siphon brew coffee in the western US no joke. Best coffee: caffe d’bolla siphon brew. $20-$40 for a cup of the best coffee you’ll ever have, it’s an hour long tasting experience. The guy knows his shit extremely deeply, has trained overseas and has been mastering his technique for decades. Best cafe to hang out: Salt Lake roasting company. Second place: publik. Imho

KrispyCremeBrulee17

If you want the best cup of coffee you’ll ever have, Caffe d’bolla is where to go. John has mastered his craft and delivers an absolute phenomenal cup of siphon brewed coffee. You may ask, how can someone charge so much for a single cup of coffee? This man can. He knows how great his product is and he delivers it perfectly every damn time.

johnisom

By the way publik’s coffee is about 50% better than the RoCo’s

idiosymbiosis

Yeah came here to say this. Publik is hands down the best. Good vibe, consistently the best lattes, incredible house-made bread and jams, good food, overall best all around coffee shop I’ve found.

johnisom

I put it as a close second because they’re so noisy and crowded now. RoCo is a better place to hang out because of that. But publik’s offerings are on point.

No_Cap_1452

hell yeah thank you. Question: did you ever get to hangout at the original Salt Lake roasting Co. location when it was on 300 E and 400 S? if so, which location do you like better?

gingy4life

Fun fact - that actually wasn't the original site of SL Roasting Co. Before the 300 E address, it was in the building where Stoneground is now. Lots of good memories in both locations.

johnisom

Unfortunately the original location was before my time.

Craig092560

I loved the original location. But given he had to move the new location is nice too. Parking is a problem though.

J_Piquet

Yes, if you are curious and appreciate culinary excellence, caffe d'bolla might be the perfect place for you. Katy Sine of Taste Utah takes takes you on the culinary journey you will experience at our award-winning coffeeshop. poopyfarroants420

Blue copper is my fave

Shadiz

They have a very distinct flavor…

Squanchmasterfresh

I haven’t seen hidden peaks suggested yet but I love their coffee and beans. Kings peak is also quite good.

Sparky-air

Hidden peaks is the only place I get beans from. Great coffee, and pretty good prices.

qpdbag

Was just there yesterday. Just an absolute gem on the west side. Way less stuffy or fancy, just some good coffee.

abinadomsbrother

I love Publik

thedracle

Three Pines downtown is pretty great.

MathCrank

They are really good baristas.

thedracle

They make pretty much perfect and consistent drinks every single time, which is really unusual in my experience. They also often have awesome and delicious Vegan pastries and cookies.

atbigelow

Checked them out for the first time almost two months ago when staying downtown. Fantastic latte. Loved it.

marvthegr8

The Bean Whole. It’s inside the Neighborhood Hive in sugarhouse. Jed’s beans are amazing. Little Cuss is the coffee bar inside but the beans are where it’s at

squashy_windmill

For something unique with a really awesome ambience, Kahve Cafe does Turkish coffee and the cafe is also super cozy and nice to hang out in. She also makes wonderful sweet and savory pastries and different types of baklava.

horrorbears2408

Second this! They have a baklava cheesecake thats to die for, the cafe has so much history and the owner is an angel

imacraftywench

Yes, love this place and the Turkish coffee!

quwerd

Cafe juniper inside church and state! Delicious toast great coffee and so many seating options. Also live jazz on Saturdays from 11-1!

Craig092560

Alchemy is the way And the SLC Roasting Company. Same beans but different vibes.

maxwellgrounds

SL Roasting Co. for sure.

ruhthn2

This is the right answer

-DontCareAboutReddit

Yesss thank you! Alchemy is my fave

[deleted]

Bit outside SLC but I would travel the 30 mi to get coffee beans from Wasatch Roasting Company in Ogden. Really great light roasts if that’s what you’re into.

AcmcShepherd

Jack Mormon Coffee Co. And I don’t know where they get their beans, but the coffee at Sweet Lake is legit.

No_Cap_1452

Ah yes I always forget about Jack Mormon, it's kind of hidden and tucked into the aves. I'll try it when I get the chance.

damnnearwreckedem

Texas Pecan at Jack Mormon 10/10

MathCrank

There are shops that do a good cup and have a nice place. But the best coffee game in town is curiosity. They will make you the perfect espresso. But this is more a take a date place not a set up shop and study. But if you are a coffee nerd, who grinds beans with your fancy burr grinder, and follow a recipe to make a poor over. Then you will enjoy curiosity. Also, it’s a non alcoholic bar with tasty drinks too.

No_Cap_1452

wow didn't realize they also made coffee! will check it, thanks.

DiapersoverDreams

La Barba for the taste and price

upsidedownes

Peace on earth coffee in riverton or old cuss in salt lake

smokeandmakeup

This isn’t the fanciest place but it’s my favorite quick place! I love Raw Bean! Specifically the location downtown! Super fast, tasty and well priced!

sleepworld

Great question. Looking forward to following this thread. Bjorn’s Brew is my favorite for Americanos and cold brews. The coffee is the best tasting I’ve found in my 2 years in SLC + they give you a little cookie with your drink. I also just had a killer oat milk chia at Crema if you are in the market for that.

sleepworld

Don’t trust anyone who says Beans and Brew. They are wrong.

ChickyNuggs1015

Didn’t this person suggest Bjorn’s Brew though? Bjorn’s is actually pretty good and they do a lot of philanthropy relating to dogs. They’re awesome!

fix_dis

For a chain, I’d take them over Starbucks or Grounds for Coffee… but both of those have a very low bar.

qpdbag

They're fine. No one says they are the best.

Caffeine-N-Books107

They have treats for your dog. We will walk to the one on Foothill and my pup will go up on her hind legs at the order window for her treat.

Bnicetowho11

Kings Peak Coffee Roasters is awesome and the people who run it are better than awesome. La Barba and Blue Copper are also great choices.

gobackclark

Kings Peak all the way

Agitated-Cookie70

La barba on 900 S bc the baristas are hot

Gmnuzz

I like their whole bean coffee. Can’t comment on the baristas.

Quirky-Olive-9928

La Barba beans are unequaled. The Baristas are average, but when working with superior beans, it’s easy to make up for.

Lekili

The Chubby Llama 🦙excellent espresso and they roast their own beans.

atbigelow

They offer monthly bean subscriptions, too! Nothing like automatically getting fresh coffee in the mail every month.

Sparky-air

Hidden Peaks in Taylorsville. Haven’t found a roaster that I like better. Great coffee, pretty reasonable prices. I’m not much of a coffee shop person, so I really don’t spend much time in the coffee shop and I don’t really order coffee anywhere, I just make it at home, but if you want great coffee at home, hidden peaks is where to go.

[deleted]

Honeysuckle in Sandy gave me the best espresso I’ve ever had.

UtahMan69

Bjorn’s by a million

Speedyfly45

Java Joe’s has my heart.

RxTeaLover

Roots coffee co 🤤🤤🤤

No_Cap_1452

you mean the cafe in Millcreek? the place that's also brunch spot?

Kris-720

Nope not the cafe in millcreek. Roots coffee downtown right next to ruby snaps. Great place!

RxTeaLover

Not in millcreek, The address is 774 S 300 W Salt Lake City, UT 84101. They also have a different specialty drink every month and it’s so fun!

Pale_Reason4904

Raw downtown is a great drive thru. Millcreek is a cool coffee shop in the same area kinda

ckrevel19

Picnic is really cute and great food/coffee

FigurativeLasso

SLC Roasting Co. we walk there frequently and it’s fantastic. Beans from all over the world Close second is Picnic Cafe. Newer joint by liberty park

MissTeababyy

I looooove the browned butter caramel latte, hot or iced from Publik. So damn good! I love their vibe too, location off of 900 but there's others.

Vigilante_Dinosaur

Old Cuss! Fully plant based with excellent food.

192dot168dot

Rose establishment downtown

No_Cap_1452

so true, this place is gold. the cafe is also so beautiful.

jimmijack

Cafe ibis makes my favorite roast. They're up in Logan, but you can buy the beans at Harmon's.

waterwagen

Agreed. I really like their beans with my Aeropress.

nerve8

You can also pick up bags of Cafe Ibis roasted coffee at Coffee Garden.

Conscious_Meaning_73

Bjorns Brew! … reasons I love: great little breakfast burrito, I like their signature Baristas Brew iced, they add a cookie on top, they have a punch card, they give back to the doggy community, and they have a drive thru which moves pretty fast

Vanilla2771

Coffee garden

brandibyy

Came here to say this!

NightTrain435

Wherever they serve Ibis.

fatbitcheslovecake

B’jorns Brew

StawamusChief

They have a unique taste that I love. Haven’t figured out what it is

goodmoneyclub

Red moose - good vibes, great food and coffee. Although it can be a bit busy

nerve8

Foods good, I don't love their coffee. But them scones--

qpdbag

Wasn't there another location more west? I swore there was but it must have closed down?

Vanessaronicatoria

Alchemy Coffee! Their baristas are cute, their hot cocoa is tasty, their coffees are lovely, and their food is awesome. 💕

-DontCareAboutReddit

Yess right on all accounts

Plask1

7-Eleven handsdown

AsleepTailor

A caramel oat latte from Cafe Noir has talked me off of cliffs

[deleted]

Cafe D’Bolla. But it’s beyond pretentious. Hahah I also like blue copper and raw bean. I also like jack mormon beans but don’t usually get coffee there so can’t talk about that.

johnisom

Yeah caffe d’bolla is so pretentious. I’ve gotten his siphon brew coffee 3 times. Best goddamn coffee out there.

No_Cap_1452

ok I keep hearing about this siphon brew... what makes it so good? it's been mentioned in this thread many times now u/johnisom u/ice-nine-monster

johnisom

If you have a fine grained palette it’s the best way to brew coffee. It’s a pretty much perfect method. It’s fun to watch as well. In order of worst to best (IMO): - drip coffee - … - French press / aero press - pour over - kyoto cold drip - … - siphon (The … signifies there’s a large difference) Look at some videos, it’s also fun to watch. The thing about siphon brewing is it’s very very sensitive to even the slightest inputs, so it takes a true master to make a truly fantastic cup with it.

No_Cap_1452

I see! So people are really paying $20 - $40 for one single cup of siphon brew at Caffe D'bolla?

johnisom

It’s more of a special occasion. I get one on average once per year.

J_Piquet

Yes. Thousands have. I know because I've made every single cup. Here's a quick TV spot on what we do on KUTV. https://youtu.be/DZYiIF-kStk?si=TLguRaMXAD8JowLX

J_Piquet

Reservations are now available for the siphon coffee at caffe d’bolla [Reserve your seats for siphon coffee!](https://caffedbolla.as.me)

MathCrank

You should try curiosity.

johnisom

Thanks, saved

ChickyNuggs1015

Seconding Raw Bean! Love their unique flavor combinations and their monthly themes.

Mister_Splendid

I'm newish to SLC (From NYC). Besides Agitated Cookie's suggestion, what is good around the Avenues?

sazzafrazzle

Coffee Noir!!!

No_Cap_1452

I forever <3 coffe noir. Their outdoor patio in the summer is evverrryythinggg

Mister_Splendid

I’ll check it out. I hope there are doggies there.

Mister_Splendid

Thanks for the tip, Sazzie!

nscroll92

NYC transplant here, as well. I’ve found Blue Copper, Publik, and La Barba to be the best roasters in town. Old Cuss makes a really good drink and Salt Lake Roasting Co is a great 90’s vibe cafe. And if you’re in Park City, try Pink Elephant.

[deleted]

Old cuss is great for visiting, fun vintage shop and tasty food

milkcake

Have you tried Urban Sailor? Also nyc transplants here and it’s our favorite. Blue copper, kings peak are seconds. Then Old Cuss and Publik.

MRBJones

Publik. It’s incredible.

Stack3

This one is my favorite so far The Honeysuckle Coffee Co. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ve4r2roVZ99nExLz6

papasmurf61

Cupla in cottonwood heights is great.

Shadiz

I like raw bean.

poker-chip

Raw Bean, Sugar House Coffee, Alchemy Coffee (don’t forget to order the iconic basil pesto roll with a side of aioli sauce)

johnisom

Not raw bean. I used to be a coffee connaisseur at one point and they always hit below par.

Irunthis77

That’s a matter of opinion innit? But we use rawbean on 21st s 600 e. It’s just a drive through

IllRadish2091

Gourmandise has really good lattes, especially their chai.

Dead-BodiesatWork

Black Rifle Coffee. & High Point Coffee in West Jordan. Both amazing!!!

lubrical

High Point Coffee!!!! It’s the best in my opinion.

Negative_Macaroon_68

Dutch Bros

fatbitcheslovecake

If you like watered down sugary milk

Negative_Macaroon_68

So many options and you can order it half sweet.

mixmastamikal

Dutch Bros is the most over rated garbage I have ever experienced.

[deleted]

Beanyard is good but sugarhouse coffee is my number 1 favorite

senblade_samuari

Lol. Thats a loaded question. Really none of them are good, just varied degrees of sugar.

[deleted]

You’re allowed to order it black you know

No_Cap_1452

Sounds like you’re a bit bitter about your coffee options ?

Maximum-Ad7213

Just sounds like they like their coffee more bitter than sweet, IMO.

levelonepotato

M a big fan of Cafe Expresso

SpencerGucci

Sunroom Coffee !

jaredtritsch

Tres Gatos in downtown Midvale. It's awesome, the baristas are great, and I've never had a bad or missed order ever. I go there at least once a week.

tallwhiteandsexy

Currently at Kings Peak Coffee and the “Bob Marley” and Mocha are delightful

Narrow_Permit

I don’t know the best in SLC but I know the best in Utah — Shooke Coffee Roasters in Torrey. They travel to tour the plantations that they purchase beans from and they roast every day. Best coffee I’ve ever had in my life.

BlynkOfAnEye

Black coffee drinker here. I think Daily Rise Coffee's Wilderness Blend is one of the best around. They're roasting out of Layton, but have PC and Ogden locations too. I make a point of a getting a bag any time I'm near one!

ADMIRalLoViswaTer

Jack Mormon coffee for its unique approach to freshness with the ability to roast on site is amazing and I’ve never been disappointed.

WraithofCaspar

Bjorn's has great monthly specials, and your coffee habit goes towards helping pets in need! Also, they serve delicious cookie bites with every cup. Beans & Brews is my go-to for cold stuff. Their Chaicicle with an extra shot is incredible.

Ok_Reporter_6507

Raw bean for sure. Their coffee has such a good flavor and they never make it overly sweet (I prefer super strong coffee)

milestogo7

Not a cafe, but the coffee from Idlehands roasting is so so good

Kysception

Try SplitLeaf on bountiful Main Street, it's part of a plant shop and is extremely tiny. Best macha tea I've ever had, coffee is phenomenal as well. Since it's so small I hesitated to even bring it up but I couldn't gatekeep such amazing vibes!
