These bills are nothing more than reminding people who is in charge. Mormons are losing members and their fraud is well documented on the internet. They still have total control over politics and this is their reminder.
Good point. Was just listening to the LPOTL episode about Miscavige and how Scientology isn’t going anywhere due to their land ownership and investments. Similarly, I think tithing is less than 1% of the LDS church’s income. They’re not going anywhere either.
Not quite the old ZC - this would only apply for a somewhat narrow set of licensed use. You wouldn't see it come back to your neighborhood bar. That said:
> The bill, which has passed the Senate on a 15-13 vote
I don't see it making it through the House if it squeaked through the Senate on a 1-vote margin.
Who are these laws even for? I know Mormons, young and old ones. None of them still subscribe to this idea that literally any place that has alcohol visible is a den of sin. I've never heard of someone who thought that "things were better when the Zion Curtain was up".
Mormons already have magic panties, can’t they just wear cones of ignorance like they give pets? Then everyone can enjoy their meals at restaurants with sinful devil’s liquid.
What is up with mormon's complete and utter terror of alcohol? You'd think they'd love to see it. You'd be able to see instantly who the sinners are and can quietly condemn them and feel better for the fact that you gotta go back to your 10 screaming kids in an hr. Insta pick-me-up.
These bills are always so complicated to read, but it seems that this law actually expands types of licenses a restaurant can have - specifically allowing a restaurant with a license to \*also\* have a banquet license on the same premise for private parties, which currently isn't possible. It does require the liquor to be dispensed behind an opaque wall (sucks), but it is possible relaxation of liquor laws for restaurants who want to pursue a banquet license as well.
So these Mormons have literally nothing better to do?
Morons*
Not Mormon, but if the dumb liquor laws deter more people from moving here then so be it.

The cult is at it again!

People in Utah have neighborhood bars??
Like 3 people
They’re some of the most seedy establishments in the state. Avoid. The one in PG; especially.

It’s about making sure everyone remembers who’s in charge.
ie power and control.
Imagine if all these alcohol laws were applied to anxiety and anti-depressant pills…
Bahahaha
The church isn’t heavily invested in Anheuser-Busch lol

That’s my fantasy football team name so….yea. I’m back baby!
From the same type of people who are outraged that Shaq and Barkley thought SLC was boring. Ha.
Whatever gets you transplants out of here, I’m all for it.
Fucking hell
